Mia curled his lip in sympathy. "I think we should just kill our siblings. They're all pain in the asses, in general. It would save me a lot of trouble, if nothing else- and I'd have significantly fewer nieces and nephews.." It seemed his siblings had the incessant need to breed like rabbits. It really bothered him sometimes..
"As for me, I hope you understand why now. It's not something that just popped up out of nowhere." He shrugged, not about to refute or let go any of his grievances. They were valid reasons, at least to him - even if no one else agreed.
When she nearly scared the nurse shitless, he merely smiled at the woman blandly and said, "And then perhaps not. Please excuse her, she's a might touchy today. Blood loss, 'n all, y'know."

Rosemary rolled her eyes and spoke in a completely sarcastic tone, "I wouldn't kill my siblings just because of the weird crap they come up with sometimes. It makes for good stories for my profession, you know."
"Still Mia, what I said was true...." She said quietly. She watched the nurse set the syringe down and replaced them with butterfly stitches and such. Of course, first came the cleaning of the wounds.
Rosemary didn't refrain from growling. She hated doctors. The poking. The pulling. The this and that. Drove her up the bloody wall. She fixed a glare on the nurse the entire time she was tending to the wounds.
But her tone was still a positive tone when she spoke to Mia, "But yeah. I don't know how my dad got a hold of that book but it's amazing! It even has notes in the corner of the page that look to be spells. Most of them don't work but... I think there's one to cure light wounds."

He smiled slightly, then shrugged. "Kidding. I wouldn't either. I'm sure my siblings have value as people.. Not much, maybe, but some." Mia conceded. Aphasia was the brother he respected the most - but he had a sneaking suspicion that the otter was up to something he knew Mia wouldn't approve of. He hadn't seen Aph in a few weeks..
"What, that Christopher--" He stopped, and looked away, not wanting to bring up that particular subject again. "I'm trying to get a grip on myself, okay? It's not easy."
He snorted at her glare, tempted to see if he could goad the nurse into doing something stupid again. Best not, though - he might need her help someday when he'd gotten himself into trouble.
The ferret rose an eyebrow. "Light wounds? Planning on fighting anytime soon? With anything other than my chest, I mean."

Changes of subject were always a good thing. Rose turned her head to smile at the ferret. "I don't plan on fighting, but I have a friend who gets in trouble sometimes. I don't know if she'll get in trouble again, but hey, I always get myself into stupid stuff."
She shrugged as she waited for the nurse to finish up, shooting the woman yet another glare.
"I'm sorry I couldn't cheer you up though. I didn't want you to be depressed... it just makes me sort of upset to see someone I like suffer." She shrugged, wincing slightly in pain. The nurse shot her a dirty look as she took care of the last open wound on the canine's chest.
"So... you do want to see the book right? Or should I just go back to Tulgey dragging my tail in shame?"

Mia pouted at her slightly. "You mean you have friends other than me? And here I thought we were exclusive!" He said sadly, managing to keep a straight face for a moment longer before snickering. "Sheesh, you just run with a crazy lot, don't you? You have me falling apart all over you, another friend getting into trouble, Christopher being a jackass.. if he even counts as a friend, I dunno." The ferret shrugged, not sure if people Christopher associated with could be deemed friends or not.
He winced. "Yeah.. I'm half-Torquehelm, remember? I didn't inherit my father's innate happiness, and my mother doesn't possess any. Don't feel bad." He ordered, knowing she wasn't going to listen.
Mia rolled his eyes. "Of course I want to see the book! What kind of dumb question is that?"

"Of course I have other friends Mia, I'm so nice that I could get along with a serial murder if I wanted to!" She said with a cheerful grin. It was a joke of course. "And Chris is something, that's for sure."
When the nurse was done she hopped off of the table and brushed her tail down. She sent the nurse a withering smile before turning towards the door. Of course she was going to feel bad for Mia, personality defect or not.
But anyway. Book.
"Good! I've been wanting to share this with someone who can appreciate it for a while," she sang out of key. She would have skipped, but she was still hurt after all. "It is the best thing my family has ever stumbled upon besides the crazy story of how my mother met my dad. Which of course, no one believes. Did I ever tell you that story...?"

As he followed her out of the nurses' office, he paused to give her an odd look. "Serial.. killers? Please tell me that's not running off, I'd like to stay alive for a while longer. I'm having so much fun being alive, afterall." He wrinkled his nose. "Chris isn't one of these serial killers, is he? I'd hate to find out I'm going to die after all this hell." The ferret snickered, morbidly amused at his joke.
"Well, here I am. I have to admit, when it comes to appreciating books, Chris is probably a better source, but I'm a far more amicable one. So lemme see! Where is it?" He asked impatiently, but wrinkled his nose at the promise of a story. "No, but later? Book, Rose, book." He nudged her side, careful to stay away from the bandages.

"If Chris was a serial murderer we'd already be dead, I'm sure." Rosemary commented as she padded into Mia's room. The reminder of the Book was enough to keep her on track. She snatched the book off the bed where she had left it and turned to Mia.
She flipped it open, a grin on her face as she flipped through the pages. Finding the part she wanted to share, "Here we go! Read the account! It's pretty awesome how she describes the skins."
Her ears pinned back to her skull in slight confusion when she heard Forge snickering in the back of her head. She flipped her ears back up, and shook it off. She offered Mia the open book. To him the pages would be completely blank. To Mia it would be nothing but a leather bound book with soft pages. Rosemary's tail wagged expectantly waiting for him to say something.
Book of Thane: This strange little book is bound in leather and the pages are soft and supple. This book has the capability of granting temporary healing powers to the owner, to all but the person this book belongs to, its pages will appear completely blank. The owner will be able to see the thin script covering the pages in spidery writing. Most of it tells of an account of the war of the Second wall as written by the Diamond Queen of the time. Her accounts are grisly, but thoughtful and hidden on the sides of the pages are small spells she tried out. Most won't work, but ten will allow for minor healing (cuts, small wounds, cracked but not broken bones...). One spell however, if tried...could have rather interesting effects on the owner. Once this book has had one owner, it can never function for another SD.

Mia wrinkled his nose. "He strikes me as the kind that builds up a relationship with their victim and waits years and years to kill them out of some misbegotten revenge." Ironically, that could totally be true - but Mia didn't see Chris working up enough energy for something as time consuming as killing someone.
He followed her in reluctantly - why his room? - but obediently padded up to the bed and waited for her to open it.
His nose immediately dived into it once she offered him the page, but he glanced up at her with an eyebrow raised... then flipped forward and back a few pages. "...Skins, huh? I don't suppose they were tannish and made of parchment?" He said sarcastically, then pushed the book back. "Rose, this is blank. You aren't playing a trick on me, are you? It would work better with Chris, he'd get more excited than me."

...
...
Rosemary stared at him for a solid minute in confusion. She looked down at the book, running her paw over one of the pages. There was in fact writing right there. What the hell was Mia going on about?
"That's not funny Mia, it's right there. Clear as day. How can you not see the spidery writing?" She tapped on the book, a frown on her face. This wasn't a funny joke, but from the way her friend was acting it wasn't a joke at all.
She picked up the book and started to recite one of the accounts. It vividly described what the Tulgey's had done to the two Queens that had gone up against them. She stopped to look at Mia and point at the writing. "It's right there. All there! I'm not making it up."
Forge didn't help her, as he started laughing in the back of her head.
This really wasn't funny at all.
