Mia could only stare as she began.. reading? Or making something up? It wasn't language Rose used, though, and he had a feeling neither of them knew what some of the words really meant, which ruled that option out.
"Let me see that," He said impatiently, pushing the book back out of her paws. He flipped through it once more, then gave up and pushed it away with a shove. "I don't see any writing, so I don't know what crack you're on. Where, exactly, did you get this again? Are you sure it's not like taking over your brain or something Rose?" He said deadpan..
.. then he couldn't help himself, and snickered. Rose's brain did seem rather vulnerable to something like this. Perhaps it was some sort of parasite, come to eat her brains out.. or maybe she was just imagining things.

Her ears flopped, for lack of a better term as she stared at the ferret. She opened her mouth once but the words didn't come out, so she clamped it shut. She looked at the pages again. There were words on it. This didn't make any sense. Forge really wasn't helping.
"It's not funny," Rosemary growled more at Forge than Mia. The sword fell silent as she looked at Mia. "I got it from my Dad. I think he got it from the gypsies or something that come around our house every once and a while. He just thought it would be a good diary for me...."
It had belonged for a former Queen. It could easily be enchanted. Right?
"Maybe... because I'm it's owner I'm the only one who can read it?" She said as she looked down at the book, batting it with a paw.

Mia just looked at her oddly. "Laughing at myself, Rose, not at you," He said slightly patronizingly. The wolf was certainly acting oddly today..
"Gypsies." He repeated flatly, staring at her. "I don't know where you come from, Rose, but in my world, I don't generally trust things from tricky, roaming almost-bandits to make sense." He rubbed a paw down his face, then tilted his head at her. "Rose, there are no words here for me, regardless of what you see. We can call Chris in if you want.. I may have no pupils, but I'm not blind."
The ferret stared at the book, then poked it along side her. It didn't seem sentient, as he'd heard some objects were capable of doing, so whatever trick iti was playing on them wasn't out of funnery. His guess was enchanted of some sort. "That is entirely possible," He agreed.

Rosemary sighed. This really sucked.
She stood up and padded out of the room, looking left and right before shouting at the top of her lungs, "Christopher! Can you come here for a minute?"
She was greeted by dead silence for a minute, before she heard a click and a door opened somewhere. Christopher peered around the corner with an unamused "what the hell are you doing you stupid girl" look on his face. Rosemary had obviously pulled this several times before, and the Esterberry wasn't going to deal with her constant yelling while he was reading.
"Can you come and look at something for me?" She asked with a wicked looking grin.
"No," Christopher said before walking back around the corner.
She yelled his name again, this time it turned into a long and drawn out howl. It was something she pulled when she was a child, and it generally worked to piss people off even now.
He came back, throwing his book at her in protest. "What?" he growled as he watched her bounce back into the room. He peered inside, glancing from Mia to Rosemary before he found a book shoved in his face.
"Is this blank?"
"Yes. I'm leaving now." Christopher said as he shoved the book away and started walking off. He grabbed the book he had thrown in the process.
"No seriously!"
"Yes! Now shut up and leave me alone!" he yelled back before storming off.
Rosemary flopped down a disappointed look on her face. She glanced over at Mia.

Mia openly stared at her as she shouted for Christopher. The familiarity of the yell suggested she did this often - which seriously scared him. He didn't particularly relish the idea of the two of them arguing behind his back. He really didn't want to come home to find one - or both - of them dead on his bed, ew.
He watched the exchange with bemusement, abruptly holding up his paws in surrendor when Christopher glanced at him suspiciously. He had nothing to do with calling the Saluki in, and would take no credit for it.
Highly entertained, he called out, "Hey Chris?" nicely just to see if he could get the canine to come back in or not. He was kinda hungry..
While he waited, he shrugged at Rose. "Toldja. It's blank, Rose." He went over to his desk and crawled on the desk, then frowned at it. Where had those papers come from?

Rosemary whimpered. It wasn't blank for her! "I'm gonna go now," she said in a note of complete and utter dejection. "I think I'm going to go and ask a mage about this." She said as she went through the various mental files of who her grandparents and Aunt Josephine knew. Her tail was on the ground when she picked up the book in her mouth. This really was a giant mess. She had effectively solved nothing.
Well at least Christopher was now pissed off at her and not Mia. At least that worked. She closed her eyes and picture the place she wanted to go to in capital city. And in an instant she was gone.
Christopher didn't come back until he was sure that horrible woman was gone. That stupid woman caused so many problems. The man stood in the doorway with a look of agitation on his face as he mentally thought of ways to make Rosemary suffer. "What was that all about?"
Rosemary's King's Ability: She is able to teleport once every two weeks to a place she has already been before and can picture with crystal clarity in her mind. This power works up to two regions away and, no matter where she is, she can always teleport to someplace in the Capital City... that she has been. If something has changed in the place she’s teleporting to and she would end up inside of something (ie. There is another person occupying that same space) then she will end up on top of them instead.

Mia rolled his eyes to the wall and turned around with a sigh. For all that he dramatacized his life, Rose could beat him at it nine times out of ten - look at her, being all sad because he couldn't read a book. He was a bit glad, actually, that he couldn't read it; he really did have a lot of work he should be doing, like the papers that had 'appeared' on his desk. Rose had managed to distract him for - oh, most of the day - and he needed to get back to work. It wasn't like he was planning on sleeping tonight in the first place..
"Rose--" He began as he looked up, but frowned when she abruptly disappeared. He shrugged. Hopefully she'd find someone to figure it out.. she'd be back either way. Mia turned back to his papers, but looked up when he heard Chris at the doorway. "She claims her book is some dead Queen's diary.. not really sure. I didn't see anything." He paused to shrug, then smiled brightly at the canine. "But hey, want to make me a sandwich? I haven't eaten in a while.."
