There was a scent. A very, very interesting scent-smell that lead from Uncle Aphasia's window - not his door, but his bedroom window, and wasn't that absolutely fascinating? With that in mind, Ohtahara charmed his way past the nanny who was supposed to be watching him and his siblings, smiled sweetly at the guards as he slipped into the gardens - and they smiled back at him of course, because wasn't he just the nicest young thing? - and followed after the trail of interesting smells. The gardens were only just recovering from the sudden abandonment after the new Queen had fired all of the gardeners after the little issue with the Checkmate. Some new gardeners had been hired to start taking care of the extensive damages, but things were still messy. That made it perfect cover for him to slip through the place, following the smell, even with the white of his fur and the elegant wings and tufts that he sported. Now, where was the most recent track of that smell leading...?

The weasel/rat hybrid was just making his way into the Court of Spades in his usual spot near the almost entirely abandoned gardens. He activated his flight ability, landed atop the wall and listened closely, waiting to see if anyone was around. He didn't see, or hear anyone so he drifted down to the ground on the other side, tail curling into it's happy shape at the thought of seeing his otter again. Granted he'd just seen him the other day but, well... he enjoyed seeing the Spade and was feeling a bit needier then usual. He started to move through the overgrown plants, keeping his long body close to the ground as he almost slithered through the foliage. He'd heard some things about the new Queen and he didn't like the idea of runnign into her whilst he was slinking around her palace grounds. Of course.. .he'd introduce himself to her eventually just... not yet. He wanted to gain his human form before he did something like that. It was then that he thought he heard something, and the hair along his spine bristled ever so slightly as he froze, pointed ears perked to try and catch any sounds that meant there was someone else there.

It took him a moment to see the man crouched in the bushes, much like he was. The Lowlander had much better camoflauge for the situation though, being green and brown where he himself was white and black and purple. Ohtahara, on the other hand, was quite a bit smaller, and managed to get his entire self hidden under a pair of very large, drooping leaves at the edge of the path. The green mane was what caught his attention, though. Much brighter green than a lot of the plants in this particular area of the garden.
Fascinating.
Ohtahara got to all four hooves and crept slowly after the weasel/rat, red eyes focused intently on him. This was the source of the smell around Uncle Aphasia's window, he was sure of it. But why would someone come sneaking in to the Court like that to visit the Torquehelm instead of just walking in the entrance? He couldn't see the man's chest, so he couldn't tell what suit he was, let alone what rank. If he was trying to be sneaky though, that obviously meant that there was some reason that he didn't want to be caught in Spades. Maybe he was a former supporter of Lysaras. Maybe he was someone Donnie wanted dead! Maybe his Uncle Aphasia was a lot more interesting than he'd thought (awesome jewelry aside) and he was carrying on an affair with a fugitive!

His tail flickered a bit as he listened, but he didn't hear anything terribly alarming... just some rustling that was probably the breeze moving the leaves. Really, he needed to get his paranoia in check, he didn't want to end up being like his Mother ... that would be... horrible. He loved the man, as hard as that was sometimes, but he didn't want to be anything like the rat. Little did he know he was more like the other Lowlander then he wanted to be already.
He continued on the path he used just about every visit, really... the only time he ever deviated from it was when another card happened to be in the area. He just... couldn't shake that awful feeling of being watched though, and the fur along his spine began to bristle involuntarily. He continued on for a bit before he just couldn't ignore the sensation any longer and paused once more to survey the area behind him.

Oh really, how ever was he going to learn more about this fascinating man simply by sneaking after him? Ohtahara considered all of his options (well, he pretended that he did, because he knew what he wanted, he just also wanted to be able to tell his grandmother Vessie that he had thought things through should something go wrong with this) and finally decided that really, he should at least say hello to this odd, fascinating stranger.
Before the hybrid could entirely decide when he wanted to reveal himself, the choice was taken out of his hands. Hooves. Whatever it was that he would be considered to have, the decision of when to reveal himself was removed from them. Namely, it was removed by the fact that the man had apparently figured out that he had someone on his tail, and he'd turned to look.
Ohtahara, of course, was in full view at that moment, having been in the process of sneaking from one bit of cover on one side of the path to the other. This involved a ridiculously silly sneaky pose, but grandmother Quinn said that it worked every time, so he was certain that it couldn't have been anything he'd done to give himself away.

As soon as he spotted the white, black, purple and blue child a brow arched slowly. What ... was that thing? Well... a child, surely but... really... what an odd sort of mix with those hooves, silly floofs and..... those wings. Once he realized the little mix had wings like that the fur along his spine started to stand up. Pointed ears disappeared back into that mass of emerald as he started to edge away from the strange little creature.
He glanced back over to his goal, Aphasia's window, and then back to the child... he wasn't too far from his target .... maybe he could get away from this little freak? He turned his attention forward again and abandoned anything that resembled sneaking in favor of a flat out run in that funny manner that funny looking way long bodied creatures did. when he was close enough he activated his flight ability and headed up toward the window he knew so well .... if he could get inside... he could be free of his little 'stalker' and he could forget about those awful things sprouting from the kids back as well.
Gads.... why did he always run into people with those?

When Morpheus moved, it hit the part of Ohtahara's brain that said moving target = prey = pounce. So, pound he did. Well, eventually.
First he activated his own flight ability (and that meant the stranger had to be a Diamond too, because he could fly too, and that was a Diamond-Suit ability) and leaped after him. And then, when he would be foiled by the fact that Aphasia was, unfortunately for Morpheus, gone (and had locked his doors and windows behind him), Ohtahara took advantage of that opportunity to leap.
"Why are you running?" he asked in what he considered to be a perfectly reasonable way. "Uncle Aph isn't there, if that's who you're coming to visit. I think he's doing something with Uncle Mia right now for the Court." He didn't pay too much attention, really. That sort of boring stuff was for grown-ups and people who didn't know how to avoid work. Hara hadn't gotten to where he was by doing his best to take work upon himself. No, he tried to avoid it as often as possible, which meant more time for him to do interesting things that he liked.

He made it to the window and discovered, to his horror, that it was closed. and then that little thing's voice was... behind him? This caused his fur to bristle up further as he placed his feet on the wall and turned, assuming an aggressive pose as he peered at that weird child through blank, silver eyes. Wait .... uncle? His otter was related to this little oddity? And it was using a bit of magic of some sort... he could feel it and it put him even more in edge.
Get away from me.
The 'charm' of his dear Aphasia's family had worn off a long time ago ... they were all people he wished to stay away from... not out of fear, for the most part, but because they were all.... off.... in some manner or another. The whole lot of them were off and he was quite glad that the otter wasn't as well...
But.. .gah .... those wings....

He was such a beautiful person, so interesting. The only thing that kept Ohtahara from coveting the man and trying to claim him for his own (and it never quite occurred to him how difficult a Ten claiming a Queen - let alone a powerful Queen - would be) was the fact that he belonged to Uncle Aphasia. And you don't interfere with what belonged to family. That was something he knew through and through, because family was one of the important traits that had been pounded into him from both sides of his parentage (whenever he saw them). Well, not pounded into him, but certainly emphasized.
"I don't want to," he finally replied, frowning petulantly. "You're interesting. Why should I go away?" He "sat" down in mid-air, the Diamond magic keeping him afloat absently. The scent of cinnimon wafted from the tufts on his legs and head, and he knew that tended to help people calm down if they didn't immediately trust him. It was odd - why wasn't this man relaxed?
Having been kept away from the main workings of the Court, Ohtahara had never directly encountered anyone that could sense his intrinsic magic. It was strange to be confronted with the fact that it didn't work on everyone in this way, though at least Morpheus wasn't getting violent. (Yet.)

Gads this kid was just so weird. What kind of odd, freaky genetics did this family possess to create things like that? He'd heard about Mia and Sae's children through Aphasia and .... that wasn't all that encouraging either. That meant that this one must have been one of Chiari's kids ... he thought he remembered something about that one having children as well. Seeing one of these faerie-esque children made him wonder ... if he and Aph ever had kids, would they be bizarre as well? He certainly hoped not ... he wasn't quite sure how he'd react to that. Well... as long as they didn't look liek this one... he could probably deal.
His tail stiffened up a bit more when the child not only refused to leave him alone... but defied an order. Did he really not know his place in the world? Tens were supposed to listen to Queens, especially one of their own suit. Or, well... that's what he believed.
Because -I- said so.
And.... why did this kid smell like cinnamon? He arched a brow and curled his lip a bit ... not quite sure what to do. He started ot tap his claws against the window.... why, oh why wasn't his otter around when he needed him?
