He was, once again, in the Capitol .... and visiting his patch of wild roses. He was pleased with how well they were doing, and how many more white blooms, and entirely new colors, there were this year.... that just meant all his hard work was paying off. It brought a bit of brightness to his life ... something he needed about now. He had his family, yes, but he needed a little time away from them .... he'd been with them everyday since he'd returned from the Lowlands and now that he was feeling better.... he jut needed some alone time. It didn't mean he loved them any less, they were just beginning to drive him a little nuts with concern. He had made his way back to the room he was renting for a few days in a cozy little Inn. It wasn't the fanciest of places, but that didn't matter .... the old woman who ran it was kind to him and didn't seem to mind his lowland heritage at all. That might have been because she was a bit senile but ... he hoped it was just a genuine type of kindness. He was there cleaning up a bit after tending to his little beauties.... but he was also feeling a bit under the weather. That feeling was getting increasingly more common as the days went by and he was starting to worry that something didn't heal right and he'd gotten some sort of infection ... or something like that. He could go home and take it up with Ophelia.... but he felt lie such a burden already.... No, he'd just have to go to that clinic he'd heard of. The girl running it sounded intriguing as well, he'd heard something about her having... ivy growing on her? Well, even if it was decoration, perhaps she liked plants as much as he did? It made the idea of taking his problems to someone else a little less.... daunting? Pathetic? Whatever ... And after a bit of a walk he was there at the door and simply looked at it for a moment. Why was he SO nervous? He was a Jack now, honestly ... meeting someone new shouldn't still be like this, should it? The answer was a simple and firm no, and he knew it .... he had to stop acting like a little scolded puppy.... thus he straightened himself up and lifted a fist to knock lightly on the door. After all, it was rude to just barge into someplace unannounced, wasn't it?

Elyse was relaxing in one of the comfortable chairs that was placed in the corner, sipping from her tea. She currently had a break between scheduled appointments and was using it to rest. With all of the changes going on she did not seem to have the same stamina as before. Smiling fondly she looked over her small clinic. Plants were located nearly everywhere. Most of them provided useful ingredients that she needed in her healing while others were simply plants that she enjoyed the company of. Petting one of the leaves of the ivy that decorated her arm, she sipped her tea. Things were progressing nicely. Her relationship with Wyn seemed to be heading in all the right directions, for which made her happy. A knock on the door brought her attention to the fact that someone had arrived. It could not be her next patient, could it. Surely time had not flown by that quickly. Setting her cup on the small table by her chair she got up to answer the door. Upon opening it she found someone that definitely looked a little worse for wear. "Well hello there," she greeted with a kind smile. "Come in, come in," She stepped aside to allow him entrance. "Wot is it that I can do for you, hun?"

Well there ... he'd knocked and now he most certainly had to go through with this. But the edge of his nervousness softened when he caught sight of just who had opened the door. He didn't mean to be biased but .... a vermin (even if only half) club was certainly a welcome sight .... especially the ivy that adorned her form. It didn't ease him entirely ... .but it certainly helped. Besides, she was a professional, right? That helped a bit more.
First off he believed he owed the woman an apology ... which he'd deliver in his soft, but unwavering, voice.
My apologies for coming unannounced ...
After a rather short pause he gave her a warm little smile and courteous nod of the head and entered when she moved to the side. Dark eyes drifted over the room, making little notes of the various types of plants she had and dividing them up into different categories as he went along. Ah, plants, his friends ... he could relax here. and .... he'd been right ... she did like plants ... but there was something else he'd come here to deal with.
I've been feeling a bit... under the weather as of late. I'm ... a little concerned it might be an ... infection of some sort. But ... I'm not entirely certain.
His adventuring so far had done a lot for his confidence and had even done away with that blasted stutter for the most part. And, talking in a somewhat professional manner also helped him keep his cool. He could do this ... he could interact with strangers. Well, as long as she wasn't the judge mental sort. But really, she seemed too nice so far to be that way ... but there he was jumping to conclusions again.

She brushed aside his apology. "No worries dear. Everyone is welcome whether they are known about before hand or not."
After shutting the door she followed him back inside. As he explained his situation - one which was not uncommon - she figured first thing first.
Nodding she motioned for him to take a seat on the patient's table. "Please, take a seat." She waited patiently, giving him a calming smile, till he had made himself comfortable.
Pulling a stool close to the bench, though not close enough to cause him to feel uncomfortable or crowded, she perched herself on it. "That seems like something easy enough. How about we start with you listing your symptoms, when they started and if they have gotten worse, along anything else you think to be important. From there we shall see wot we can narrow it down to and wot we can do for it."

Snow hued ears twitched a bit every time she said a word like 'dear' or 'hun' .... it wasn't often anyone called him that, much less a stranger. Her voice was rather even and pleasant and he let his wings go lax just a bit, no need to keep them tucked tightly against his sides anymore, was there?
He moved toward where her eyes had directed him and took a seat as asked, playing the obedient little patient. He had to make a small adjustment, that pesky tail of his had gotten in the way yet again, but after that his attention was all hers.
Well .... it started several days ago ... a bit of fatigue only at first and now it's accompanied by nausea as well ... no fever yet but ... I'm hoping to .... get whatever it is early.
His ears came forward curiously as he awaited her opinion. Maybe he was just blowing something small and unimportant out of proportion, or maybe he was catching something potentially awful as early as possible. It was just like the saying went, better safe then sorry.

While she listened to him list the symptoms she began making a list of the different illness it could be. After he had finished she gave a nod before starting to ask questions.
"So you are still suffering from fatigued? Is there any soreness at any locations of your body?" She asked for clarification. Often times many of illness caused a soreness in the joints much like the feelings of the flu.
"Nausea, also? When does it seem to come? Is there anything particular that seems to cause it and is there anything that seems to make it go away?" That was a custom symptom in some cases, though not as many as the fatigue.
She paused for a moment as she thought of the appropriate questions to ask. "Do you remember if you were bitten by anything recently or been around anyone who you knew to be sick?"

No soreness ... and everything else is pretty off an on with no real trigger. I actally... thought I'd been out in the sun to long at first.
A bit of color graced his cheeks, and the inside of his ears, at the thought of it, he resisted the urge to rub the back of his neck but he managed to quell that urge for now.
It's ... gotten a little worse... and that's why I came to see you.
The tip of his tail began to twitch back and forth, the feathers that tipped it brushing softly over the floor as he did and he couldn't help but fiddle with the somewhat stiff fabric of his cloak, purple claws making a nice contrast to it's emerald hue.
No ... no bites that I can recall and I've been keeping to myself lately, but no one was sick at home when I left for the Capitol.
He hoped this was narrowing down the possibilities nicely and .... wouldn't lead to to much, or any, if at all possible, needle pokings. He's seen Ophelia use them a time or two and to be honest .... the frightened him quite a bit.

So no known bites or being around anyone who was knowingly sick . . . that both helped and did not at the same time.
"How long have you been feeling like this?" She asked absentmindedly as she thought about how to further it down. So far the list was still pretty long but maybe with this question it would help.
Well there was one thing that it could be . . .
"This might be a little awkward of a question, but this is probably the easiest thing to cross off the list. When was the last time you were active with someone? You know of an intimate nature."
In order to help him answer the question she did not make eye contact with him as she asked the questions nor till after he had answered it. From past experience it often made people uncomfortable . . . at least it would have made her so if someone asked her it.

Maybe a ... week or so?
He'd been trying to ignore it at first and, well, when he got to managing his roses he tended to lose track of hours and occasionally days as well. He used to live amoungst their thorny branches and napping under them occasionally just didn't strike him odd at all. The very thought of all his roses made the whisper of a smile appear on his muzzle right before his expression slipped to one of shock. He couldn't help it, that question was just so .... personal.
And that's when, even under his darker, navy hued fur, he turned the most brilliant shade of red that had ever graced his cheeks. She wasn't looking at him but... damn if that just wasn't the most awkward question she could have asked. He also .... didn't like to think about the last time at all. But .... they were near each other, and he was certain she had a reason for asking so.... he'd answer in a quieter voice after averting his gaze entirely to the floor and maintaining that fierce blush.
A-around two months ago... w-why do you ask?
Damn it all that stutter was back ....

She puzzled over what the information he had just given her could mean. There might be a very good chance that she had just discovered what was causing his 'illness'.
"Tell me, have you suffered from any of these other symptoms?" She knew that he had not previously mentioned them but re-asking could not really cause any harm either. "Have you had any, or had an increase of, backaches, headaches, food cravings, mood swings, or any noticeable weight gain?"
If he had suffered from any of those she was pretty confident that she knew what was ailing him, even though without she was starting to wonder if she had found the 'problem'. She was not sure how he would take the news, after all she had come to notice that men took the news much more differently then a woman did. Was not always the case but enough so that she wanted to take into consideration his feelings on the topic.
