Parvana laughed softly, the sound and the smile that followed so very delicate as was proper for a Lady such as she'd been raised to be. That was, of course, more of a Doll than a person at all, but she managed to maintain the illusion of desirable perfection.
The family friend was, Parvana hated to admit, not much of a 'friend' at all. Not to her, at least, and she had never quite understood his connection to their family either. He knew her parents through their medicinal work and shared Parvana's curiousity for electricity, but there had always been an odd tension in his presence. To this day Parvana did not understand it well, though a nagging voice in her head longed to suggest otherwise.
Before she could speak up on this odd acquaintance that was her long time family friend, she was distracted by Dilis's sad confession. "It's nothing to be ashamed of. We're among peers then, but I can truly see your longing. I possess only what you see, though someday I would like to have more as well. It would assist my studies greatly." While speaking, Parvana studied the gorgeous dress displayed between them and found herself being engulfed in her own quiet dreams.
What she wouldn't do to be a Human like all those Nobles!
It was then, to her surprise, that Parvana caught sight of a dark figure looming just out of sight. Something about that shadow brought to her mind the realization of that oh-so familiar sensation: someone was watching her. She tilted her head, drawing blue eyes over onto the serpentine male standing nearby. How, unusual, but quite intriguing as well.
"O! Hello sir, are you in need of something?"

"I am glad to know I am not the only one who wants for more. My father thinks me silly for wanting what I do but I know one day I will get it." Dilis smiled, pleased with Parvana's admission.
When she was younger, Dilis' father had caught her trying to talk to a Jack of Hearts and when they walked away from her, he had laughed at her. Never attain for something higher than what you are, you will only make a fool of yourself he had told her. But she kept hoping and trying, because of that however, the children made fun of her and called her names. They made her feel like a two sometimes rather than a seven... Snapping back into reality she watched Parvana as her gaze drifted across the way.
Well, that is an odd sort of fellow. I wonder if he is lost or something. I am so glad Parvana spoke up first, it makes things easier.
"OI! Are you alright? May we help you with something?" She yelled across to the chap. Normally she wouldn't have bothered however this person looked interesting to her. Attractive, even. But she stayed at a distance since she knew from his stature that he was of a higher rank than she.

Severus suddenly realized he was being talked to, snapping out of his inner thoughts to see the two looking at him. He blinked once or twice, unsure how to approach the situation, but neither of them seemed very frightened by the fact that he had been staring at them. Indeed, the Corvistowne seemed to look at him curiously...and the Avington female seemed to have a bit of a glint in her eye. He snorted, if he was correct, then the female must be thinking he was attractive. What a lie. In his mind, he wasn't very handsome at all, though this was not something that made him sad or upset. It was meerly a fact, and one that he didn't let bother him in his life. He didn't care for things such as attraction and lust anyway. There was only one thing he desired, and that was not it.
"Pardon me," he said with a small bow of his head in appology, "I was on my way somewhere when your figure caught my eye." he said wrinkling his nose a bit when he realized his words could be taken wrongly, and added a qualifying statement, "I've just...um...never seen an Insect before. Pardon my rudeness." he said, before turning beginning to walk in the direction that he had been heading in. He was never very good with interactions such as these, and he had picked a rather awkward situation to become a part of.

"Oh I imagine we're far from the only ones." Parvana nodded toward the stranger who had been watching them and to the Courts seen faintly in the distance. "Most the nobles and courtly folk want to be Humans one day; it gets you so much more respect."
Paravana sighed sweetly and shook her head, focusing her attention back upon the dark stranger they had just addressed. He was such a strange and mysterious looking male, and a Corvistownian like herself. His notice of her Species wasn't at all surprising to her, it happened all the time since her parents died and she was free to leave the house for the first time.
"My, no... It's not a problem, I get it a lot really." After being hidden away for such a long time, Parvana was finding she rather enjoyed the company of others. Well, so long as the groups remained small at least. Too many people still made her quite uncomfortable, but she was slowly adapting to be the social little butterfly she'd always been at heart. "Your breed is quite unique yourself... If I'm not being too intrusive, are you a mixed-breed?"

Respect. Yea, that's what she would have one day. She would have the respect of all the people that had taunted her growing up and she would show them just what they had been missing.
Thoughtfully she turned back to the stranger My, he almost seems nervous.... hmm. This is new. Watching him now, Dilis smiled realizing she had been acting more brazen than normal. She figured it was because since she was alone all day during fathers "episodes", she didn't have a choice. She liked herself better anyway when she could talk freely but knew it was not proper and she would catch hell later for it if her father found out. She looked around making sure father wasn't spying and satisfied that he wasn't turned back to Parvana.
She whispered to her softly:
"Well that was certainly... odd. Do you really get that a lot? You handled that quite well, if it were me I should think I would be irritated. But then, I get nervous when people stare... "

Severus stopped himself from leaving, not having expected either female to have said anything more after he had spoken. It wasn't a matter of power or anything of that nature, mostly he just thought the females would be to weirded out by his presence and reasoning for staring at them that they wouldnt respond. Seems he had judged wrongly however, and something compelled him to stay. Not to mention the female asked him a question himself. "I suppose you would. Insects are rather rare..." he said, cocking his head a bit and looking at her. A butterfly no doubt, and rather lovely, though the thought came more in terms of a specimen then a potential partner, like it might have if it was anyone other then...well...Severus. At the question his tail lashed right and left once, no he supposed it wasn't to personal...especially if he was guaking at the other female's breed.
"Yes. Though, not through conventional means." he answered shortly, before realizing it would answer her question better, not to mention would have the conversation flow a bit nicer if it wanted to continue, if he extended his answer. "My mother was a Corvistowne, you might know her by her name, Ophelia...she is a genetics specialist, spliced herself with a serpent...It passed on to me as an actual breed, though my mother was not naturally a mix breed. An experimental outcome in and of itself really..." his tone was not proud, simply matter of fact.
His eyes wandered to the Avington, narrowing ever so slightly. No...he decidedly didn't like the region. Shame that he was partially of it. They had a rather bad habit of being....annoying? Yes...that was the polite way to put it.

"Oh yes, ever since I first got out of the house. I suppose people were a bit shocked that I'd been living among them all along and that very few had ever noticed. They were quite interested and I do have to admit, the massive crowds that lingered around my home for a while. Luckily, though, I do alright in small groups such as these, so I'm managing rather well for the most part."Parvana had always been a naturally curious sort and so she was more than interested to hear what Severus had to say. A mixed breed byt not by conventional standards? That was definitely an interesting thought. How many genetically spliced people did one get to meet in their lifetimes? Not many, Parvana had to admit, for she had been all over Corvistowian in her short few months of freedom and had not met a single genetically spliced figure until Severus himself. "Really? And your Mother is the Ophelia I've heard of her, but never gotten a chance to actually meet her myself. It's a pleasure to be speaking with her son." Bowing her head cordially, Paravana floated closer. "I can only imagine you must be just as skill as your mother, what with your high rank and everything." She motioned a claw to Dilis before extending one of her own dainty hand/paws to Severus. "I am Parvana, by the way, and this is my new friend, Dilis."

Dilis nodded and bowed realizing this newcomers' status and that he was well aware of it.
"Pleasure to make your acquaintance". This was the kind of person Dilis had tried to be friends with in her youth.
Meeting him had brought back some memories and she wasn't sure she was thrilled with that. She was torn whether she should leave them to talk or to remain and try to make conversation. Being a polite and forgiving soul, she had decided to try again. She turned to Severus and spoke.
"We were just killing some time looking around if you had wanted to join us? Although if you are in some kind of hurry, I won't keep you. I don't really know anyone save for Parvana so it would be nice if you were to keep us company" She smiled to herself knowing he probably would be snide to her but she felt good today so she figured anything could happen.

Severus raised an eyebrow slightly as she reaccounted the first time she was 'discovered' by the Corvistowne populous, before returning some sort of reply. "It is fortunate that you seem to do so well in social situations." his eyes glanced around a bit before returning to conversation, not as if to see if someone was overhearing them, mostly as a spacer between his next words, [/b]"There are very few of our region who are blessed with a social nature. I personally might have reacted differently to the crowds."[/b][/color] he said, annoyance filling his voice as he spoke the last sentence, as if to say he would never have put up with such a thing. He must have momentarily forgotten, as well, that he was part Avington. That or he was choosing to forget.
It was then that Severus begrudgingly looked to the Avington. 'I won't keep you', did she say? Whatever gave her the impression that she could even do such a thing. But no need to be overtly nasty at the moment, especially since Parvana and he seemed to be hitting it off...not horribly. Well, hitting it off wouldn't be what he would use to discribe the situation, more like...convercing pleasently. The Corvistownian was obviously choosing this Avington's company, though he really wasn't sure why, and to insult bluntly did not seem the best course of action. No, instead he decided to let his unfavored stance be known, but as they say...he would set his snide remarks 'to stun, not kill'. "I am afraid I am in a bit of a hurry. I do not have so much leasure time to 'kill' as some do. There is much to be done when I get back to the courts." he said to her, his voice entirely condicending.
He finally turned back to Parvana. He was unnerved by her complimentary speech, possibly because he wasn't complimented horribly often, and possibly because he didn't know how to respond. His emerald checks glew rosey slightly before he cleared his throat. "Yes, the Ophelia. My mother taught me much, so I would imagine I could say I have quite a bit of skill. I was born with a rather high rank, though I've had to work hard for what I have today." He grew quite anxious when she extended a pawed hand, unsure what to do with it. In the courts it was customary to kiss hands, though Severus was never the type for such intimate greetings. He stared at it for quite some time, his own fingers rubbing against eachother as if wondering what to do, instead he just dropped it, and hoped he wasn't being entirely rude, something akin to 'ah...yes' might have mumbled out of his mouth. Then he spoke again. His voice wavered on the word 'pleasure' as he spoke it...trying to decide if it was entirely true. "A Pleasure to meet you both. I am known as Severus.", his jaw became set, as if he was trying to decide if he should really say what he was about to say next before he decided, for once in his life, he might be a little nice. "I am actually on my way to see my mother. If you would both like to meet her...I could introduce you." there was more behind the invitation...possibly not wanting to confront his mother completely alone, knowing what this meeting was possibly about..
