Ophelia had hoped to see Severus alone. It had been such a long time since they'd last spoken. Even before the rest of the kids had run off on their own, Severus had thrust himself into the Courts. It was almost disappointing for one such as Ophelia, a minimalist with no interest in the Courts what so ever watching as her children rushed up the ladder of 'royalty'. Honestly, however, she supposed she should have expected it.
Severus and Mephitisia had shown an interest from the very beginning.
"You're not intruding at all, Parvana." Ophelia said with a smile. That wasn't entirely true, but she somehow felt that Severus had meant it to be that way. If she knew Severus, and she knew him quite well, then he was trying to avoid being alone with her. "Am I, Dilis? I thought I was just a 'hometown star' of sorts... Thank you for that compliment."
The woman's gaze shifted onto her silent son once more, the smile in her eyes was struggling to remain in place. He was her 'prodigy' so to speak, the one child of hers that had asorbed her teachings like a sponge.
"How have you been, Severus? It's been too long! Please, fill me in!"
As Ophelia attempted to pry a little conversation from Severus, the waiter brought the bowls for Vana and Dilis and filled their bowls with the warm tea Ophelia had been drinking.
"Thank you for the tea, Ophelia."
Vana chimed before glancing over to Dilis. If what Ophelia said was acurate than the woman had been waiting to speak to her son, so she wasn't going to interrupt right away. Instead she focused on the tea before them, a warm green tea blend, if she could judge by the smell of it.

Oh dear, Severus certainly had a chip on his shoulder. She understood what it was to be in the shadow of a parent. Father was well known in Capital City as well and she could not throw a stone without hitting someone who knew him. Dilis would have replied to Ophelia's comment but she felt it would be more prudent to not interrupt her and Severus. It seemed like they had not seen each other in awhile, and Ophelia seemed anxious to catch up.
As the two were catching up, the waiter brought Dilis her tea. She was not sure what it was but it sure smelled good. "Yes, thank you Ophelia; this is lovely." Dilis smiled and went back to her thoughts. She really did wish she knew what kind it was, she was awful at identifying tea but not everyone could have that talent she supposed.

Severus continued to watch things silently, not answering his mother until both females had recieved their tea bowls, before looking back at his mother, his eyes heated with fustration and resolve. Suddenly it was like the other two didn't exsist, and there was just a black void, a table, and his mother on the other end. "The days are truely fustrating beyond all comprehension, not to mention stressful. I've come to the conclusion that I won't be happy until I am where I want to be." he said rather bluntly, he had very much indeed forgotten the other two were around. He cleared his throat a bit before taking a sip of tea to calm himself. He certainly didn't want to elaborate on that with the current company, it included some rather personal things which only Ophelia would...well...appreciate wasn't exactly the word he would use to discribe the news he had to tell her of his father, and who he was not blind to seeing his mother's affections for...despite how discusting and degrading it all was. He snorted, and took another sip of tea, before resuming on a better note, "Though I have set up a meeting with Queen Serafino on taking up his last position for Kings finally. Hopefully it will not be to difficult to convince him of my qualifications. Then again...seeing the company he keeps...he would have to be an idiot to refuse." heh...testy....maybe a bit more then that. It bothered him quite a bit that the people of Fino's personal set of Kings were mostly of Highlander disent, not to mention one of them had no redeeming qualities what so ever, but there was word on the wind they were lovers, another as thick in the head as.....well...he couldnt even think of an analogy...Bernard was probably the only one of Fino's Kings he had no problems with whatsoever...but then again... Bernard was an amazing King...it made him think that the man really kinda did all the work while the others sat around as Fino's personal playthings...but who really knew, he was not exactly in Fino's inner circle...he just wanted to be....to have a better chance to get to the next step. He sipped quietly at his tea.

Ophelia's expression darkened. With what emotion it was hard to tell, but there was definitely a shadow about her.
The Courts... She distrusted every slimy power-hungry aspect of them. It was a pity that those so close to her heart were so jaded by them. The doe steeped her fingers silently, sighing heavily as she listened to her son rant. For a moment, their company would have to fall to the background.
"Did I not tell you what to expect from such a place? I can't see why an intelligent scientist like yourself would want anything to do with their lifestyle. As Queen you'll have barely any time to your studies! It's all paperwork and business at the top, even the Nobles can tell you that." Ophelia's disapproval was as clear as a bell and as cutting as a scythe. She had been distrusting of the courts for many years, but with the way it had warped Pravus...with how it was consuming Severus, Mephitisia even. Ophelia despised it. "I know, however, that nothing I can say will sway you. By the Suits you know I've been trying. You and Mephitisia both."
She reached down to pick up her cup, taking a hasty drink to cover her displeasure. When she had downed the liquid she cast a softer look onto the two girls.
"Forgive me, I've gotten away with myself." Ophelia bowed her head apologetically, unsure of what to say although she was sure she wanted it away from that topic. "So, how did you three meet? I'm glad to see Sev making more acquaintances, and -I hope- some friends as well."
Parvana was shocked. In fact, so was a good deal of people who happened to hear Ophelia's outburst from her the outdoor table. To hear someone so vehemently protesting the Courts was more than just a tiny bit odd. Even the tove coiled about her shoulders cooed in dismayed surprise.
"Oh... my." The butterfly blushed slightly, not expecting that at all. She'd been unaware of Ophelia's almost 'anarchist' views. Then again, it was somewhat understandable. As a scientist herself Parvana could understand Ophelia putting her studies above nobility...somewhat amendable, but still surprising. "No, no... It's alright. Though I fear we have all just happened upon each other and Severus was kind enough to let us along."

Dilis could not believe it, Father had always talked so cheerfully about the courts and how it would be the best thing for her. To hear someone bash on it was almost unthinkable, she could only figure that Ophelia must have had a bad experience herself and that was the reason. However, the conversation was getting heated and she was kind of glad when she turned back to Parvana and herself.
Dilis nodded at Parvana's words. "Indeed, Parvana and I had just met before Severus came over and we just decided to have tea together. Though, I am rather pleased he invited us as I myself am terribly interested in science; so when he had mentioned you, i knew that i had to come and meet you." Dilis blushed Never had she admitted an admiration for another person and she was not sure how her pride would take it if Ophelia shrugged her off. What she really had wanted twas to learn more about Ophelia's work though she would not pry for fear of upsetting her.

Severus' eyes darkened as well, and for a moment, he wondered if he looked anything like Mephi. He was so tired of his mother's disapproval, "You have told me plenty, but I have seen it for myself. I've lived it." For a moment his serpentine tail wrapped around the armrest of the chair he was currently sitting on, agitated, while the rest of his body remained still and attentive. "My studies have not deteriorated, I have learned more there in their mountainous library and my completely stocked lab then I ever could have at home. While I could brew all the fame and glory I want to my hearts content, there is nothing sweeter then the taste of the real thing. Where there is a will, there is a way, Mother. You being the equally as intellegent scientist should know this saying equally as well."[/b] it was a bit of a low blow, and his eyes seemed to soften now that the dark moment was over, but what was said was said, and he didn't look the least bit appologetic. He would be greater then his mother. Greater then anyone, and everyone would know. Respect and Admiration were what he wanted most of all, and he was going to get both even if it killed him.
Severus made no real attempt to cover up what he had done, except simply act like what had just happened...simply didn't. He took a stip of his tea, his tail unwinding and relaxing and listened to the conversation had between the three girls. He nearly choked on his tea at the idea of being friends with either of the two girls. Well, Parvana didn't seem so bad, no Corvistowne really put a bad taste in his mouth, but Dilis was another story altogether, "I was intregued by Parvana. Even in the courts I have not yet seen one of the Insect Breed Variety. We talked breifly and I invited them here."[/b] Severus relayed, taking the piss out of the story in the process....as if nothing truely special had happened, just a series of events that led the two to come with him.

Ophelia squared her shoulders to her son's words, her gaze remaining dark throughout his speech. Even the Tove that laid draped on her shoulders seemed to sense her tension, her displeasure, and it crooned slightly in concern.
Yes, he had valid points. They had a larger library and greater access to supplies; the Courts were a higher priority customer than most. Ophelia lifted her cup stiffly, sipping at the liquid as the intensity in her eyes only thickened. Severus was taking the wrong tone, the wrong turn of conversation. She could understand his displeasure with her admonishments but to insult her intelligence? Ophelia had never seen this side of Severus. He was cold, emotionally detached, that much she was used to, but rude?
Ophelia said nothing in reply which, in the sharpness of her silence, was possibly worse than any verbal retort she could have given.
When her gaze returned to the girls, it was as soft as it could be, but her upset was far from hard to see. She had not expected this side of her son, but she should have. Had she not been estranged from her own father for the same reason? Because he held the Courts on a grand pedestal and she had preferred the hard work of starting from scratch, of making her own name without the stamp of nobility to raise her up. So be it if Severus wanted that lifestyle, she would say nothing more to him on the subject.
"I agree. In all my years I have seen very few insects, especially such a lovely variation as yourself, Parvana, and with such interesting mutations." Genetics, that was all that was going through her mind. If only she got a moment to take a look at them... Shaking her head lightly, she smiled once more. "I am glad you brought her along, the company and the chance to meet a rarity is appreciated."
Her gaze turned to Dilis and she tilted her head ever so slightly. Poor girl had gone slightly neglected throughout the conversation, hadn't she?
"Do you enjoy the tea? It's one of my favorites, a Casablanca brew. However, you did mention something of an interest in me... I must ask, was this 'fame' from the perspective of an admiring 'brother' or a scientific sort?"
Parvana was frankly surprised by the entire twist of the conversation. The conversation between Severus and Ophelia had not quite been an argument but it was far from 'friendly' or even 'casual'. There was a heat to their every word, and even to Ophelia's silence; white hot and quite unexpected.
Her compliments, however, caused the butterfly to blush and dip her head before quickly taking a sip of tea to refrain from displaying her embarrassment at the flattery. How did one respond to it? Parvana had yet to figure that out.
"O! Casablanca? It's a very lovely brew, I will have to purchase some myself."
Ah well... It was better, she thought, than openly acknowledging her 'unique'ness.

Dilis kept her gaze firmly planted on her tea. She was not one for confrontations and besides the matter between Ophelia and her son was none of her business as much as his disrespect bothered her. This was the famous Ophelia and here he was treating her like lowly common folk. When she turned back to Parvana and herself, she looked a bit more pleased but Dilis could still tell the rage seeping in her. Oh my, she had addressed me. THE Ophelia addressed ME, she giggled to herself.
"Yes, this tea is lovely. I am thankful you got it for us." She smiled. "And yes actually, it was my father rather.. I do not have a brother." Ophelia's joke had completely gone over Dilis' head. "Father talks very highly of you." She giggled. "Though he is interested very much in science himself, he wants me to be in the courts. But to be honest... I really wish he would approve of me studying genetics, like you." She smiled. It would have been her dream to study under genetics but unfortunately that life was not to be hers.

Go ahead and not say a word, he said to himself mentally, taking in his mother's cold and upset staring as if it was a comfortible ocean breeze. He seemed completely unphased, this would probably be new for the mother as well. In his time in the courts, he had to deal with many unfavorible higher ranked individuals who had much more of a impactful stare then his mother could ever give him. Hell, Mephi had given him looks that had physically made him shiver, everything else seemed dwarfed after those moments. Indeed, the only responce given to his mother's stare was his own, a cold one, which seemed to seep with the loathing that he was beginning to feel for everyone who had a name in the world. How hard was it to become someone. He felt like he worked so hard for nothing. The thought began to make him sick.
He took a sip of tea to calm his nerves before looking down into the depths of the cup. He was not nessesarily avoiding his mother's gaze...so much as just generally wanting to be rid of it's nonsence. He paid attention to the conversation between the three yet again, feeling as if it was now time for him to sit out for a moment, maybe with some snide commentary here and there. That moment would come really soon. All of Dilis' giggling was really starting to give him a bit of a headache, something that might possibly be noted by the fact that after every giggle his eyes closed for a second, and he took a long sip of tea, as if to sooth something agrivating. He couldn't help but smirk, however, at the words coming from the Feline's mouth. What an ass licker. "You sound like mother's dream child. You could have been her flesh and blood to...if Silvanus were but a feline."[/b] he said this quietly, maybe no one would catch it, but it was loud enough that if Dilis stopped her giggling for five seconds maybe they all would hear the rather inappropriate remark.
