((Ok so I would like to somehow get Dilis near a barrier of some kind to try out these bad boys...maybe a door or something?))
"Did you not want to be a scientist like your father?" she queried.
"I remember how fond you were of fireworks and the like. You could just further yourself in that and from what I remembered it made you happy..." she was not sure if he still was attracted by science but given his enthusiasm the last time, she at least figured it to be a fair guess.
"It matters not what you do because either way I am sure you will excel" Dilis said sweetly.
Dilis bristled at his words just a bit however, it was obviously something he did not want to talk about so who was she to prod him. She knew what it felt like the have something terrible weighing on her mind but cannot tell anyone. The least she could do was to let his statement go unprobed.

"Yeah, sort of." Seki smiled a little and dipped his head, still rubbing the back of his neck from time to time. He was so utterly awkward around people, especially in these sorts of situations. Blast it all. "Pyrotechnics are great, I'm getting better.." When he practiced, at least, and he'd been slacking again... Rocky would really flay his hide for that one, well...not really, but it always felt like that.
Her sudden silence only made the feline more awkward, a sense of panic slowly swallowing him up. This was terrible...he had to change the subject.
"I could use a drink," better than he not specify what sort. "do you know any good places around here, Dilis?" He knew a few good clubs nearby but he wasn't sure if they were open at this time in the afternoon...or at all appropriate. "Somewhere quiet, I would hope?" Seki didn't need a big crowd right now, it'd only throw him into another one of those 'fits'.

((I'm just going to take them there if that's alright))
Well hmm. Dilis was a bit curious as to why he no longer practiced when he had so much fun but again, she was not about to push it.
"A drink?" she said surprised. "Well sure, there is a few places around the corner come on and I will show you " Most of the places were hustle and bustle but Dilis knew at least one that was quiet this time of day. She went back to the fountain and picked up her book and gestured for him to follow her.
Bruce's was a run-down kind of place, not the type you would expect Dilis to go to but she knew the owner so it was alright she was there. It smelled of cheap booze and smoke yet no one seemed to be around... she was thankful for that though, as she did not tend to like associating with these kinds of people. Sad and lonely people that is, life was depressing enough why would she pay to go watch someone else be miserable.
She walked up to the pug canine mix behind the counter "Hi Bruce! Might you get me an Avington Daquiri and my friend here anything he sees fit?" she cooed and leaned over to kiss his cheek. They did not really serve daquiris here but Bruce was like a second father, except he did not yell or make her feel bad about herself. He always got her whatever it was she wanted, most times it was tea but at least this had alcohol in it.
Bruce was the greasy type, he wore a silky patterened shirt (open of course), a gold chain and italian leather dress shoes. But shh, he wasn't in a mob.
"You got it Dilly, so what'll it be brutha?" he gestured to Seki.

The atmosphere of the smoky little pub suited Seki far more than he'd like to admit. Cheap beer and smoke... How many times had he wasted his evenings away in such places? Well, at least it was quiet now, no one to be interested in him...no one that might recognize him. Except, of course, the bar tender. The pug acknowledging made him shiver a little, the feline wringing his hands lightly.
"Screwdriver, more oj than vodka, though." He smiled weakly. He needed a buzz with the headache he was still nursing but he didn't want to be drunk. Not around Dilis.
She didn't need to see him like that.
He was such a mess when he was smashed. ...Who was he kidding, he was always a mess.
Mocha didn't like it in there, she sneezed angrily to make a notable defiance of their location. Seki ignored her about this, as usual, and she slowly quieted down into a sulky sort of acceptance.

Bruce brought the drinks over and lay them in front of Dilis and Seki. Getting one of for himself, he clinked with them both. "Bottoms up" he grinned.
When Mocha sneezed, Aidan ran over to investigate. He sniffed around her face and licked her cautiously. He really was a friendly bander.
"Aw, how cute they are!" Dilis squealed.
"Sorry Dilly, you know there's a no bander policy in here..." Bruce started. This was a place of business after all.
"Oh Bruce, you are such a party pooper. Can you not make an exception for us just this one.... look how cute they are..." she begged, really laying it on thick. Bruce was never able to resist her big blue eyes.
"Al-alright Dilis, but JUST this once. I love Aidan too but some people in here may not appreciate him being around while they drown their sorrows." Dilis did the only thing she could, she pressed the banders nose to Bruce's to show his super cuteness.
"Look at this face!" she laughed as she could see Bruce's heart melting... she knew she could get through to him.

Mocha wrinkled her nose when Aidan began to lick her, looking rather perplexed. Seki wanted her to behave, so she did, but she didn't look entirely happy about it. Not that she wasn't friendly, she just took a bit to warm up to strangers... especially lately when Seki always seemed so off.
Seki merely smiled when Dilis squealed, peering down at his Mocha for a moment. When Bruce spoke up, however, the feline hesitated... He should get Mocha then? But then Dilis was begging, doing everything she could to keep the little banders in the tavern.
He never would've done such a thing...
"Thank you..." He murmured to the tender, smiling awkwardly now and rubbing his neck. What else could he say?
Absently he reached down, grabbing Mocha and pulling her lightly into his lap so that he could hold onto the fluffy, bear of a bander. He didn't want to get in trouble and, honestly, he always felt safer with Mocha closer to him.

Dilis turned and smiled at Seki when she noticed his discomfort. "He is just being Bruce, do not let him bother you" she teased.
"I do not get a chance to come see him very often so he likes to take it out on Aidan instead" she laughed. It really was a shame that she never got a chance to come in for a visit but she did her best considering the circumstances.
She took a sip of her daiquiri and whistled. "Jeez Bruce, you trying to kill me? There is enough alcohol to take down a yak in this drink" she pursed her lips like she had just sucked on a lemon. It was all in good fun though, Bruce always made a good drink and he knew it.
"Well missy, it's not my fault you can't handle your liquor anymore ya big pansy" he poked her in the tummy.
She put her gloved hand on the bar to ground herself and OOMPH, it went right through the table! Oh suits... not again... She pulled it up quickly hoping no one saw and blushed a brilliant red.

Seki blushed a little, ever thankful for that dark fur of his, and lowered his head to stare at his lap and the Bander that occupied it. "I'm sure... I just, don't like to cause trouble, i-if I can avoid it." He was pathetically meek, wasn't he? Even though he knew it was all in good humor.
Or maybe he just wasn't used to this social interacting thing anymore.
Honestly, it all seemed rather strange. Like he was fighting with his words to get them off of his tongue.
So, of course, to keep from making a stuttering fool of himself, he took to sipping at his mixed drink instead. It would at least ease his nerves. Or so he thought. Instead Dilis's hand went through the counter and he nearly choked on his last sip. Sputtering and wide-eyed, he sat in his seat beside her like a deer in the headlights.
"W-What... What just happened? Are you a-alright, Dilis?"

How... embarrassing! She thought she had gotten away with it until she saw Seki's reaction.
"Er.. it is the gloves... I am not sure why they do it but they give me the capability to put my gloved arm through barriers of sorts. I just... have not gotten the hang of it, it would seem. Oh please do not be freaked out Seki, I do not mean to scare you..."
She thought back to the first time she put them on and shivered. That was something she hoped never happened again. It was such a terrible thing to happen and she still woke up in a sweat nights after.
"When my father gave them to me, he did not mention that they would affect me at all. Makes me wonder if he did not do it on purpose..." He never did explain if he knew or not. She wondered if maybe he did it to freak out Peder and make him leave. That would be so like him.
