...wow. Pretty much, I agree with Jenn there. The brown with the stripes looks like it may be a little more useful in terms of camoflague, or hunting, or something, and the idea that she could be useful would likely drive her. She couldn't get through the bushes very fast, she couldn't get to her people fast enough, and once there, she couldn't do anything except hold the male as he died. Hikari would be annoyed but understanding of Talus for leaving her like that...but I also think she'd be worried. He didn't come back for her once he found the safer sleeping spot, which was what I had expected, and that Cidhish is still out there. Is he okay? Her concern over being stronger would have to wrestle with her need to find him now and making sure he's still safe. How long does it take to absorb an orb, anyway? If she can do it quickly, right there at the camp, I'd say take it, and then go looking for her brother ASAP.

Jenn is full of win, yet again. xD; i was actually thinking right along those lines, but she defined it a bit better than i had. i agree with all of her choices, including keeping the brown orb and passing the other to Talus. My "ooc" thoughts also include the fact that Talus has pink eyes and therefore he should have the 'girly' orb. xD;

D: Wow. That thing is creepy. But yes, I agree, she should take the brown orb and take the other to her brother, but she'll probably just grab both for now in order to find him. Unless they absorb them the moment they take them?
As for finding him...can she smell him out? She does have a bear-ish nose, and I imagine she knows what her siblings smell like...

Look a Jenn and her stunning articulation. I do agree with her and Hikari's choices. She probably would pick the brown orb because of her stark white contrast. And since her brother disappeared she wouldn't hesitate to make the choice.
Lucca of course does bring up the fantastic idea of sniffing out her brother. She does have the sense of smell of a bear, right? One can only hope he climbed a tree or accidentally fell asleep before he could come back to check up on her.

I agree very much with Jenn. It would make a lot of sense for her to be upset at first, but after a little time to relax and let a bit of rational thought get through after the initial wave of impulse, she would understand his reasoning to want to find a safe place to sleep.
Having had her new ears and nose for a while now, it would probably not be hard to remember to use these natural tools to her advantage. Or, she might even wait to see if he comes back on his own?
As for the orbs, Hikari i think would take them, but not without leaving the dead a token of thanks for their gift. I would also see her taking the brown orb. The earthy colors and the slashes would appeal to her. She would share the other orb with her brother. After sometime to think, she would know that both of them need to be stronger for them to have a chance.
I would also like to add that due to the fear that she is surely feeling, she and her brother should come back and try to find a scent of the Cidhish and remember it and avoid the trail if they can manage it on the way to the school. True, our Hikari is an impulsive one, but she's young and has never experienced anything like this before. No matter how tough someone is, their first encounter with a physical threat is usually reacted to with the 'flight' reaction.

:o Wow... Jenn's, Shini's, and Satra's ideas as to what should be Hikari's next course of action are beautifully written, and every one gave such a well-rounded explanation why that I'm inclined to agree with all of them. <3
It would be the logical choice for Hikari to choose the brown orb with stripes- especially in light of her newfound concern for camouflage. Not to mention that it is just lovely. This would allow her to pay respect to the dead and to thank them for their departing gifts. Since Talus was the one who advised that they should build a funeral pyre for the victims of the Cidhish attack, Hikari should give the pearly orb to him. So, I suggest that she put the pearly orb in her pack for now and then, as Lucca brilliantly suggested, sniff out her brother. Hikari does possess the spirit of the bear, after all; it's reasonable to assume that she has the enhanced senses as well as the natural weaponry befitting of the animal. Scent recognition should be no problem as she has spent a lot of time with him.
After sniffing out her brother, wherever he may be, the two of them could try to find the scent of the Cidhish and remember it for reference. They should then hightail it out of there and head towards the school. Once Hikari and Talus arrive, they can search for their older sister. Their sister could be told in private what had happened, then allowed to decide for herself what should be done.

.... -slides into the thread-
Once school is done, assuming my life isn't consumed by other things... who would like to see this story continue? I'd be willing to try to pick it up again, assuming I can find my notes. <3
