You are a Xenica.
As with all of your species, you entered the world without a single defining feature to you. You are identical to your siblings in every way. Life is heat, fuzz, hunger, and comfort.
You spent the first six months of your life like this, sightless, without speech, and completely helpless. Your mother is your constant guardian, a warm and protective force for you and your three siblings. It wasn't until your tiny eyes finally opened that there was any way to determine who you were. On your side of things, that was an exciting time - you were finally able to put images to the noises, smells, and sensations that you'd known your entire life. You see, for the first time, your mother's smiling face and the squirming forms that are your siblings.
Your own eyes are a bright, crystalline blue. When you can finally understand language, you hear your mother calling them beautiful.
From that point, you do what all Xenica do: You grow. You explore the forests of your homeland, learn to walk and talk and climb. Your parents teach you the ways of the world.
You learn a few important things during this time. The first is that you and your siblings are the first generation of Xenica to be born in a time of peace. For the last twenty years, your kind has been engaged in a particularly violent battle with a rival species, the Cidhish. Your father was a general in an army, an honored warrior. Your sister, the only of your parent's first litter to have survived, is the same.
You are nearing adolecence, and with that comes several important choices. All Xenica have the ability to grow based on the magicks they consume during their lifetime. It is these magicks which will color your coat and give you special traits to help you survive in the world. Your mother and father are both nearly fully-specialized, but they seem happy with the way that they are and have never showed any signs of wanting to change further.
They're both just happy that there isn't a need for the constant adaptative survival brought on by war.
Then, finally, the day comes. Your parents present you and your siblings with several orbs, each one containing the magic that will make you unique.
It's up to you to decide which orb you chose (please select from red, peach, black, or brown).
With coming of age, you have several other choices to make. All of your kind are hermaphroditic at childhood, but settle into either one sex or the other. You must decide what you will be. You also need to name yourself, a ritual performed by all of your kind. The last decision upon you on this day is the elemental path you will follow in. This determines the magic type you will specialize in. Your father is of fire, while your mother is of wind.
What will you decide?
