"It didn't say, and apparently somehow nobody saw who left it, or admitted anyone in to find me at my room. It was just there, and I should have been more cautious, but I at first thought it might have been a congratulatory gift from Samid or Lawrence, but they've both since confirmed it was not." She tapped her finger to her lips, her distraught showing for a few seconds before she tried to relax her shoulders, sighing. This was unusual, and while the power seemed genuinely meant to help her, the thought still remained- who would do that for her and not let her know? Anonymity was rare for something of that calibur, it must have cost someone a fortune.
"I just... wish I knew more about what this entails. How easy is it to... break, I wonder?" She was thinking aloud now, but she assumed he was probably thinking similar things and it felt good to finally brainstorm with someone. She didn't dare even let on to it in front of anyone else, it was too valuable of information with her having so little idea of exactly what it did. She was excited still, the feeling she'd gotten that night in her room... it had been like nothing else.
Suddenly she noticed the man's discomfort and shifted a little uneasily. She'd tried to make sure her aim had been very far from anything intimate, but she should have verbally asked rather than hesitating to see if he'd pull away. It was just... so hard to start talking, and really, the demonstration she found to be very necessary. You just couldn't believe something like that without really knowing, feeling, understanding just what was amiss.
"I apologise if I made you uncomfortable, I've been holding it in all night and morning and thinking about how unbelievable the story in and of itself really is. I figured the best way to get you to understand the severity was to show you, but you seem significantly less shocked. Have you heard of something having this magical effect before?" He must know a lot of magically talented individuals who could probably have pulled off making an item such as the one delivered to her, perhaps that would explain his lack of surprise. Or perhaps he was just being very careful to hide it. She'd been able to pull that off, but her control was shifting in and out as worry set in with a constant flow of questions that may remain unanswered for some time.

The stallion simply gave her a rather blank smile; uncomfortable or not, he was more interested now in the fact that she no longer had a heartbeat. Uncertain of her original intention, he had not felt anything about her heart and had taken a very long moment to pretend he wasn't feeling anything at all.
At her question, the stallion gave a low, definitely not amused laugh. He briefly flipped up his sleeve, allowing another glance of his bone hand. "My arm simply fell off one morning," he said wryly. Yes, one could say he was well-acquainted with magical effects, even if it wasn't exactly like hers. He quickly had the fleshless hand hidden again.
"From now on, I don't suggest you open unmarked packages," Really, there was a flash of concern in his grey-green eyes. "We can send a query out to Cauter or Bernard." That, actually, seemed like a great idea.

She didn't flinch when he revealed his arm this time, taking a moment to try and study it inconcpicuously, knowing he would quickly hide it away again. She saw the golden sheen again this morning and realized it wasn't just bone, something had... fused itself to him. Interesting. Maybe someday they could have a 'magical mishaps and the results' sharefest. But that was unlikely, his effects were much more personal and touchy to talk about. Nobody could see that she had a glass heart, it was just... there.
"Ah, good point." She frowned slightly at the laugh and the tone of his voice; he really just hadn't gotten used to it yet, had he? But then again, who in their right mind ever truly got used to loosing half an arm out of the blue without having asked for it to happen? She personally didn't find it all that repulsive at all, it just looked like armour to her, but he probably wouldn't believe anyone if they said it truly didn't bother them.
"Indeed. That was unusually foolish of me, I was on a bit of a high due to my good spirits after having left your office, I wasn't quite thinking straight." She couldn't help but smile at this, trying to hide it behind a layer of tousled, fiery hued hair. When she had regained her composure enough to look up without the gleeful grin of an accomplished student on her face, she could have sworn she noted a bit of concern in his eyes. This made her blink a bit unexpectedly, and she was shocked to find that she'd just assumed being his King didn't mean she was any more important to him, but how could that be the case? She was one of the few people he had who would really honestly lay their lives down to protect him, though she assumed soon she would be one of many.
"That is a wonderful idea, your majesty. I trust Bernard more than anyone else, but if you think this Cauter can help as well..." Indeed she did like the idea of having a chance to speak to the King who did so much for her previously, the first true good pure-hearted person she'd come across in the courts. Despite the fact that it would be for less than happy news, it still appealed to her, and she'd heard he really was a master of magics and all things unusual related to it.
"I apologise for taking our meeting a little off-course, majesty, but I couldn't think of anyone who should be the first person to know other than yourself for obvious reasons." It was a small way of proving her trust and loyalty to him, as by now he could probably tell she'd already met and trusted Bernard, but had still chosen him to tell before anyone else. It had just made sense to her, honestly.

His left hand was actually simply bone now; enchanted, but merely bone. She was absolutely correct that it was not something he wished to discuss. Ever. Deep within he abhorred the abomination that was now his hand and magically stronger or not, he simply wished to have his actual hand again. But this was something he simply forced from his mind. He did not think about it.
"Bernard knows enchantments," the stallion said quietly, thought that was about the extent of his knowledge of the King. He did wish he had more of an opportunity to interact with that man, at least. He had a feeling he would like the Highlander. "But Cauter knows magical items and enchantments."
His bet was really for Cauter to know or be able to find out; even if his bone gauntlet had caused his arm to fall off.

She fidgeted a bit at the thought of revealing this to a complete stranger, especially one who she'd heard often gave away cursed items shamelessly, even after time and time again they'd been traced back to him. But, her Queen was right, from what she'd heard he was the go-to man about all magical mishaps and related items. Damn it, she didn't want to let this leak out, so hopefully he'd be respectfully quiet about it during the investigation.
"I should perhaps visit a doctor to make sure this is the only unexpected side effect. I don't know if anything else changed after I shifted to that silver form, I'm not much of a medical mind unfortunately." The heartbeat had been easy enough to self-diagnose, but she was uncertain if that was the only thing that had changed inside her worth noting. She really, really hoped so.
"I would prefer this stay between you, Cauter, possibly Bernard, and myself if it is alright your majesty. I simply don't know enough about my current state and what to expect from this to feel comfortable with it getting out just yet." Not that it would really cause any peril for her- if anything, the news that she'd developed a strange and powerful new ability would probably have the opposite effect. But as she was supposed to be the only moderately powerful social butterfly, the intimidation factor was unwanted entirely.
"When would you suggest I go seek them out? I'm sure there is other business you'll want me to attend to beforehand, which I will most certainly be able to focus on." She had no intentions of letting this ruin her first few official days as Shinrai's King, and she could quite easily put it out of her mind now that she'd at least gotten to talk about it. In fact, she felt quite relaxed knowing that there was now a bit of a game plan as far as figuring everything out went.

Rai hrmed lightly in recognition of her words. "I appreciate your concern," he finally said softly, but there was a hint of displeasure in his tone. "We shall see who else will be told." It was good of her to tell him; he would need to know her strengths and weaknesses, abilities and quirks to ascertain where she might best serve. He would not, however, be ruled by his Kings; well, King in this case. And he would proceed as he deemed best regardless of her desires and wants. If she couldn't accept that, she should leave right then.
"Chances are high that you'll have some mornings free," the Queen continued and there was still the same, dangerous glint in his eyes. "Many of those you must befriend are not early risers." But they were night owls. She might not find the early morning very friendly after a few days herself.

At first she was bit surprised at his comment, though after a while she realized why it was she had come to him- she trusted he would know what to do better than she. It was actually a relief that it seemed he was willing and concerned enough to take this into his personal affairs, and if anyone knew who should and shouldn't know about her potential abliity just yet, it was most certainly her Queen. She smiled and dipped her head at this, the relief on her face genuine.
"Thank you, your majesty, I trust your judgement wholeheartedly." Now that it seemed that would be laid to rest until later when they were able to act on it more, she turned her attention to his talk of mornings. She'd always been a morning person, often times getting up just before sunrise to train in the cool morning mists. Nothing felt better than the heat coming off her skin to be quenched by the cool, wet air. But this was not something she shared with anyone really, though she assumed her Queen would probably know where she was and why for the next, well, as long as she was in his service. She wasn't foolish enough to think he wasn't a little paranoid about her still, she'd expected gaining his complete confidence would take a long time and a lot of poking around.
"My favourite time of day, how fortunate." She admitted, tilting her head and observing the man to see if he would offer anything more. It almost seemed as if he was waiting on getting straight into business, which made sense as this was actually the first chance he'd really had to study her reactions and responses in a one-on-one interview like setting. The day they met had hardly counted as it had been centered around her quest. The thought made her slightly nervous, she realized that letting out such personal information had made her perhaps a bit too comfortable in his presence. The weight of his gaze suddenly seemed much heavier and she kept in mind the shifting set of danger to his features, it flicked on and off like a switch, almost like a buzzer telling her what was right and wrong.
This would take some getting used to.

The stallion watched her silently for a moment, as though weighing her words and reactions. He didn't seem disappointed with her reaction and seeing her calm at his words set something at ease as well. He was still nervous about having his first King, but he certainly wasn't going to show that to her. No, but he hoped Elias would get the snot up soon and come report in.
His other news for her, he wanted to wait to announce so that he only had to do it once. Well, surely the man would get around to showing up at some point.
"Are there any questions I can answer for you?" the equine asked suddenly, as though it had not occurred to him before that she might -have- questions about him. Of course, he also couldn't guarantee that he would answer any and everything she sent his way.

She watched him for a while until he finally spoke, and her mouth opened and closed once as she considered what to say. It had completely caught her off guard and she really, really didn't consider that she'd ever have the opportunity to ask him anything. It was none of her concern, the vast majority of things to do with him. But, as his King, she had a right to know a few things, didn't she? But, really, what was there to ask? Whatever the meeting had actually been meant for, she knew he would reveal in due time, other than that?
"Millions, but as for the ones I know or am pretty sure you're willing to answer... Nothing truly important comes to mind, unfortunately. I appreciate the offer though, hopefully if I am able to come up with something at a later date, you will be available." There were a few small things on her mind, but all of them were things she knew he either wouldn't answer (mostly to do with her and her position as his only King, and things to do with Elias), or weren't as important as the increasing curiosity as to what his announcement would be.
Again she waited to see if there would be anything else, trying not to show how eager she was to know what he had to say. It would be good to prove her patience.
