Elias spent a good long time that morning practicing his faces. Not so much faking laughter and faking anger, and all that, but just control over his face, and working on a neutral expression. He was able to stay fairly deadpan most of the time, but he thought it would pay to put the effort into reacquainting himself with Courtly facial expressions, where the tiniest twitch would hint at something. And he had something to hint at. He was glad he had bumped into that Bernard guy last night. Once he’d gotten the conversation ball rolling, he’d found out some pretty important things. Things that Rai should know, and that made him question Sekhmet a little if Rai didn’t know them. He made his way to Whip’s office, and paused briefly while he composed himself and blanked his face. Granted, not much showed with a muzzle and fur, but one could never be careful since several people there shared such characteristics at some point. He knocked on the door, a rather inconspicuous knock that was nevertheless a code he and the horse had worked out over their years together.

The knock sounded on the study door and Rai turned grey-green eyes to the portal. Elias was up and here. Finally. It had taken forever for the canine to decide to show up.
"Enter," the stallion called out in a purposefully condescending tone of voice. Elias would know that he knew it was El, and that he had done it just to rub the dog's fur the wrong way. El hated Heart arrogance even as he took advantage of it. Rai also liked to give El reasons to complain; it amused them both to do that.
When the Marshdweller entered, Rai lofted a green brow. "Well, good morning, Elias. Did you sleep well? Are you well-rested now? I certainly hope so." He gave a low laugh at his friend and waited for the sarcastic quip that would almost certainly ensue. El was just as snarky as ever.

The knock made Sekhmet tilt her head, a shield of hair hiding the slight relief that crossed her features. She was just so nervous around Shinrai today, for some reason, even though he wasn't prodding at her even in the slightest, and she'd been expecting him to basically demand her life's story. Something that would be hard wrenched from her cold, dead fingers. Willingly... well, she'd never really willingly spilled her heart out like that to anyone. It just wasn't in her nature. She had a rather hard to ignore persona that she used to hide that part.
"Greetings Elias." She offered gently, strangely pleased to see the canine again. He'd been unusually kind to her the previous night, what with the congratulating and such. It made her feel more comfortable in his presence now, though still she wondered what he'd be doing here. Shinrai seemed all too comfortable with him being there, wasn't this supposed to be a private meeting? Maybe the Queen was just looking for a distraction as much as she was, he'd seemed a bit on edge lately.
Or maybe Elias was part of this for some reason. Intriguing and worrying at the same time, as she knew neither men very well at all. Keeping her face a perfect porcelain mask of casual and pleasant, she waited for them to exchange their playful greetings and to see where this might lead.
