She had been holed up in her rooms for a while now. Any desire to leave, other than to get food when the hunger pains became too much to bare, seemed to be non-existent. It was never really a matter that she had ever worried about, the spells came and went as they desired. Now that this one seemed to have passed she finally made her way out of her den. Giving a long stretch she rubbed at her neck, trying to work the kinks out that had gathered while she had slept, she gave a small groan. So stiff. She was going to have to preform some of her dance moves a little later to get everything working as it should. Curious to know what had been happening around the Court while she had been 'away', she wandered the back halls, as was her habit, to gather Intel.

Whenever the King needed a break from people, he found his feet carrying to the back of the Court. It was much quieter here, a place where he was far less likely to encounter another living soul. Today, he'd brought a stack of paperwork with him, things that were very much in need of his attention. Then he'd found a nice corner, sat down, and started to work. It was an odd sight, but the windows here were farther from the thickest part of the rose gardens, and he could breathe fresh air without the cloying floral scent getting in the way. It was really a shame how well a curse could ruin one's appreciation for such a thing, especially when before the man had so enjoyed the roses before his run-in with Marie. Not that it mattered now - the hands were something he had to deal with regardless of where he sat in the Palace. There was no way he could escape it for a solid twenty-four hours, at least not while he was still living within the marble halls. He scratched lightly at his scalp with one of the dagger-like talons, then brushed his hair back. He'd learned how to be careful with his touches - it was rather embarrassing to walk into the medical wing of the court with an accidental and self-inflicted laceration just because he'd thoughtlessly scratched an itch with a little too much force. His other hand tapped his quill lightly against his leg as he red a sentence over again, debating the merits of the proposal. Then, the sound of footsteps reached him, and he raised his head. Curious orange eyes blinked slowly at the form that seemed to be making its way towards him, at least as pale as he was in the dim light of the halls. " Hello, there," he called out after a moment, a hesitant greeting. This was... Linda. Right? She was Lior's sister, Serafino's daughter, and a Highland Heart through and through. It would be curious to note how she reacted, presented with the new King of her Suit. Especially since he was reasonably certain she knew what he was - or, rather, what he used to be.

Hearing the voice call out to her from the shadows she stopped. It was not too often that she ran into people back here, one of the reasons that she used them so often. Slithering her to the side to help get a better glimpse of who was talking to her, she narrowed her eyes as she caught his outline. It was him.
Though she was not an 'active' member of the Courts she tried to keep up with the going-ons. After all it was her duty to her later father. While she had never met the man before her in any official manner she had most definitely heard enough about him.
Not one to fully judge someone without meeting them, she still hesitated for the briefest moment before stepping forward. Bringing forward all of her training as a child to the forefront she pasted a calm look on her face.
"Good evening, Your Highness"[/color] She greeted him. Even though they were both Kings, she gave the proper bow of her head to accompany the man's rank and position in the Court.

There was apprehension in Apocalypse's usually smooth movements, linked to who the serpent was. He'd never spoken to her directly, no, but he had seen her in passing before he'd... changed, and there was a lingering association he couldn't help but feel between her and her brother.
It didn't help that, over the course of his time as The King, he'd run into a number of Highlanders that were rather... well, frankly, they were pissed off. He was a Raemblen King to a Torquehelm Queen, and the other Queen in the court was yet another Boggie. It seemed that no one could remember a time when there had been no Highlanders in the Court, yet, here it was. Slowly, the man scooped his paperwork into a neat stack, lifting it and pressing it against his chest before standing.
For a moment, he just stood there, trying to decide what he would do next. His feet moved before he had finished making that decision, and he made his way down the hall towards the woman. "You're Linda, right?" He offered along with a friendly smile, his head lightly inclined to the side, orange eyes sharp and curious. "I must say, I don't usually encounter anyone while I'm back here. Is there anything I can help you with?"
It didn't exactly occur to him that she had stumbled on him by chance. No one did, not anymore. They all expected something from him, needed him to bring a message to Xiven, needed to arrange a meeting, needed... Well, anything he could give, both inside and outside of his position.

Her eyes narrowed her eyes the slightest inch at his voice. Running her eyes up and down him she tried to quickly measure him and access the situation. He was being friendly enough, that was true, but her natural nature was offended on some level.
She had most definately inhabited these halls long before he had even . . . been. Surely he did not think he had a right to them? Taking a deep breath, mostly to help calm her temper, she cocked her head to the side, though trying her hardest to keep from appearing confronting. Propping one of her hands on her waist she gave him a small grin.
He thought she had sought him out? The only reason he had yet encountered her back here was purely out of her choice.
"There is nothing to fear from me. I was simply on my usual stroll."

With his eyes designed for low-light vision, her every movement did not pass by unnoticed. He saw the way she was looking him over, the slight shift in her body. He was fully prepared to stand his ground in this situation - he'd worked harder than most people could even dream to get where he was, accomplished something that was generally known to be impossible.
He'd become a Card. And he wasn't going to let someone sass him simply because of their parentage. It was his - and Xiven's - good will that even ensured she still had a place to live here. Though - he calmed himself with a thought. She'd done nothing to him, simply approached when he'd greeted, and came across as nothing if not pleasant.
He just needed to shake that damn prejudice towards Highlanders and Linda's brother. He had to give her a chance.
The man's smile brightened somewhat, and he gave her a small nod. "Very well, then. I figured there was no harm in asking." Then he paused, and his expression shifted slightly, into something more serious. She... knew him. She knew what he was, and he hadn't ever spoken to her directly. "My lady, if I might, however, there is something I require of you. I promise, it will only be a few minutes of your time, and then you can return to your walk."

Her posture relaxed a little at his comment. No, there was not really any harm in asking. Though it did not happen too often of late - mostly cause she kept out of contact with those in the Court - her temper did tend to flair easily.
At his second comment, her eyes widened a fraction. He had a request to make of her? Now this was most definitely becoming interesting, and just maybe not completely unworthy her time.
"Something of me?" she mentally added 'is it?' but figured it would be best to leave that part off. "I suppose there would be no harm in hearing, though I will not promise to commit till I hear you out"
After all, she was not a complete fool. For all she knew he could be completely serious in wanting to speak to her, or he could be jerking her leg. From all that she had heard she could not say which it would actually be.

Perhaps the man had worked a bit too hard at gaining himself a reputation. Not that it was one he minded terribly, of course, just that it made meetings like this one all the more difficult. It wasn't that Linda wasn't beautiful, of course she was, but that... That was the furthest thing from his mind in that moment, squashed aside by his rather sudden need to take care of the unfinished business the woman represented in his mind.
And there it was, her own surprise at being asked something. He gave her a light smile, one he hoped was at least somewhat reassuring. The halls were private enough for this, he was confident.
"Of course," he replied easily, his voice smooth and relaxed, hiding none of his irritation. He was her King, whether she liked it or not, and that did give him a certain measure of power. Not that he would ever seek to abuse that, of course, he just deserved respect. "If you would follow me outside, there is a table we can sit at." It felt less awkward that way, and he gave her another open smile, indicating her to come with him.
Once outside, he pulled out a chair for her and then sank into the one opposite, gently setting his hands on the table and entwining his fingers together. When he looked up at her, some of the play was gone from his expression, replaced with a deadly calm. "Miss Linda, I understand that you know of my origins, yes?" There was no point in batting this one around any longer.

Though she was not want to follow him, at least since it entailed going outside, she followed him through the halls till they reached outside. Blinking at the suddenly bright light, she took a quick moment to adjust. Though, by her nature, she often enjoyed soaking up the sun to warm herself, it had been a while since her last venture outside.
She gave him a small bow at his generosity at holding the chair out for her. Taking her seat she watched him closely as he took his own. It was apparent that something in his manner changed immediately. Curious to know what had caused the change she raised an internal eyebrow.
"What is it that you wanted to talk about?"
His immediate approach to the topic had her blinking. That was not what she had expected. Only hedging the topic at hand slightly she replied with a hesitant, "Yesss," her lisp coming out slightly.

No, this wasn't exactly what Apocalypse himself had wanted to discuss, either. There were far more pleasant subjects, and while he was outside he might have enjoyed a nice long soak in the sun. Maybe later, depending on when he finished up here and how solid his mood was. With any luck, this would go well enough.
Maybe.
Apocalypse sighed slightly, nodding in response to her answer. Of course she did. At least she was being honest. "Then you are also aware of my current situation. It would be quite bad if word were to carry outside of the Court for a number of reasons beyond my own personal desire not to be tracked down." He stared down at his own hands, running his fingers across a scar that trailed between the webbing of his thumb and finger. Before, he had never kept scars. Those were for the truly living, which... he was now, it would seem.
"Linda, I am asking you for your silence." He raised his eyes to look into her own, his mouth set in a firm line. "There are already rumors popping up taking my origins into question - too many people knew Rhiannon, and I was never exactly subtle." Why should he have been? There was no reason for it, as there had been no way to predict the changes that had occurred.
