"Yes, I'm mean," Femi snapped back, tears pricking at her eyes as she tried to shove the stress somewhere else that wasn't her head. It didn't work especially well. "And you're worse for keeping me up here instead of looking out for your father and siblings. Those people could be doing anything downstairs and I'm not there to help because of you in case something goes wrong!" The thought set her horribly on edge and she stroked Alphonse's fur to try and calm herself down.
"She's being such a suck-up..." Thyme muttered absently, watching her sister schmooze her way into everyone's good graces. "Bet you anything she'll rub it in our faces later. A hundred to one, it's gonna happen." She glared at the girl over their father's shoulder and then slipped out behind her brother. "But yeah, it's gotta be dolls. That's what Dad does in his spare time, so what else would it be? I guess they just came here to see him and caught Mom in a bad mood along the way?"

Hatter couldn't hold back the chuckle at Kazifel's concerns. He didn't mind being jumped in the least, but he knew that poor Loreta would. Gently he eased the heron in front of him, sliding an arm around her and giving her a brief, reassuring squeeze with one arm while using the other to support his poor Doorie.
"I don't mind being jumped at all. I love kids." He laughed warmly as he walked, releasing Loreta when they at last reached the door to the work room and he slipped inside.
A quick sweep of the room quickly assured him that he would have the tools necessary to do the repairs needed, but the question was whether or not he would have the materials. Most generic doll makers didn't have the classical mechanics he was looking for... Ah well, here's to hoping...
"What sort of materials do you have? I can improvise for something makeshift...but if you've got any metal plating, or unneeded gears, wiring..." He smiled slightly, glancing back at the little Corvie that had followed them into the room. May the boy have a mechanical inclination that would inspire his doll maker father to bring some of those materials into the house.

Rosemary glared at her mother. "Daddy's big and strong, he can take care of himself!" She spoke as if the man was invincible, and in her mind he was.
Parsley rolled his eyes. "Of course she will. She's Sage. That's the only thing she knows how to do." He whispered in response to his sister's comment. It was always a united front against Sage, no matter the sibling they were all against her. With the exception of Rosemary, but everyone admitted that she was special. And Rosemary was just difficult to make fun of. "I guess. Something did happen to Alphonse so that might have something to do with her bad mood."
Kazifel raised his eyebrow at the being jumped by kids comment. To each their own? "I have some smaller gears for watches and things, a bit of metal plating from heaven's knows what but I'm not sure I actually have any wires for electrical work." He shrugged. If he did it would be in his workshop. The wolf pointed to the door and directed Hatter to open it, Sage was still clinging to him and digging her face into his coat.
Of course she popped up to stick her tongue out at her siblings behind her.
Loreta just.... really wanted out of this place. She did her best to stop hyperventilating when Hatter gave her a squeeze of reassurance. It didn't help.

Femi knew better just how broken her husband really could do, but she didn't say anything along those lines. It was her business, not the childrens'. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut and wrapped her tail around both her and Alphonse, burying her face in it. She was just so upset. This was not a good time. Why did those people have to be in her house...
The gesture was comforting for a hungry little Alphonse and he reached out to hug his wings around a part of his mommy's tail, clasping the wing-claws together around it.
Thyme snorted and glared at her sister when she stuck out her tongue, mouthing something less than friendly back so that Kazifel's good ears wouldn't pick up on it. Parsley could probably guess what she was saying, and Sage would certainly know. "But yeah, if they were the ones who did something to Alphonse then Mom would just be having a bit fit. Too bad she took Rose away, though."

Hatter was usually quite good at multitasking, but the current task of focusing on Loreta's panic and the thought of fixing his beloved Doorie was a hard one. He bit his lip briefly, glancing repeatedly at the distraught heron before turning back to Kazifel once more.
"Gears and plating should do just fine. I can probably patch any wiring problems myself." He beamed...and then hesitated to watch Loreta. Oi! He really hoped she didn't snap now, everyone else was finally starting to calm down... Forcing his attention away from her, he doubted his concern would help much right now anyway. He'd get Doorie up and functioning then he'd be able to focus all his attention on getting poor Lore to relax.
Settling down at the workbench, Hatter set Doorie down in front of him and the doll that Sage had made him next to him. Creating a small space for himself that didn't directly disturb Kazi's own space, he quickly began to memorize where the visible items were before dipping into the drawers and what have you until he was certain where everything was.
Unlike his usual work area, Kazi's was kept to a near perfectionist level of tidiness. Frightening...but it made it all that much easier to learn his way around things.

Rosemary let out a frustrated growl. Her mommy was being silly. The wolf-squirrel went back to trying to attack the door. Out. Out. She wanted out! Everyone was having fun without her! Loreta automatically went to the corner of the room furthest away from Kazifel and his hellspawn. The heron could feel her heart pounding in her chest. At this point it didn't matter what Hatter did. She would still be a ball of stress. Sage's ears pulled back in displeasure as her sister mouthed those horrible words at her. If daddy had heard he would have taught her a lesson. Instead Sage refrained from pouting and paid attention to what Mr. Hatter was doing. She was more than curious enough to watch what he was up to. It was always fascinating when people made things--or in this case fixed things. She stayed in her father's arms, because it was a much better view from all the way up where he was. Human or not he was pretty tall. "I don't know... seeing Mom have a fit might be scary." He said as he watched the brightly colored man through his father's legs. What on earth was that little thing. Kazifel greatly appreciated Hatter leaving his workspace in tact. Otherwise he would have to spend a few hours putting things back. He watched the man contently until he caught the image of Loreta out of the corner of his eye. He looked up for an instant and then back to Hatter--but wait. He looked back up at the woman again. His eyes widened in shock. She didn't have a human form before and-- "Oh dear god that's disgusting." Kazifel blurted out when he saw the Lowland leg on the human form. Loreta's head snapped up.... she had been feeling funny and ignoring it for watching Hatter. She glared at the man in red. Was he talking about her? (( OOC: I am... a cruel human being. ))

The scratching at the door eventually grated on Femi's nerves enough that she picked up Alphonse and walked over, planting herself in front of it and reaching out an arm for her daughter. "Stop being such a brat and come here..." The young boy just lifted his head and stared at his sister with watery eyes. What was she even doing?
Thyme's ears went back slightly and she considered. "Yeeeah, I think you're right. I've never seen Mom have a fit before. I don't think I'd like it so much." Then she watched with slight curiosity as all the happenings in their father's workshop began. Those mostly being them talking about things she didn't care about, until her father's exclamation made her glance over at the heron woman.
Who... wasn't a heron anymore. "Oh, hey, I didn't realize you could turn human," she said in surprise, staring. "Your nose is huge. And you've got a stinky leg."
((Oh Thyme-child, you're such a delight. e_e Heee.))

With the work bench memorized and Doorie laid before him, Hatter had begun the process of selecting the materials he thought was best for the patch he needed and turned to begin taking Doorie herself apart.
Well, he would have, if not for Kazifel's exclamation.
What? What was... Oh my.
"Lore?!" He gasped slightly, his gaze wandering over her new form with a considerable expression of interest. It might have been the avian in him, but she was gorgeous. Well, aside from the leg and all that. Despite it's considerably pungent qualities, he had simply stopped acknowledging it all together. He was going to remove it one day, after all, so there was really no need to think about it.
What he couldn't ignore, however, was Loreta's stress and the obvious factor that it had played in this change.
"Loreta, are you alright?" He swung away from the bench, moving over to the Heron so that he could stand before her and narrow her vision down to just him. Doorie could wait. Loreta deserved his care first and foremost.

Rosemary gave her mother a cold look. She wasn't going to go to her mother's arms, she wasn't going to cry. With an annoyed sound she turned around and ignored her mother. She was content staring outside where she wanted to be. Her mother wasn't going to be forgiven so easily.
Loreta blinked at the child's response. She stared down at her leg. Human and animal were side by side. Her eyes widened in horror. Holy mother of the Queen of Hearts what the hell was going on? She clasped her hands around her nose. It was human--and it was indeed huge. Her leg did smell--and it probably had to do with magic. It wasn't that bad though.... probably because she was a canine she noticed it more. "Hell." Loreta said as she tried to take a step forward. It was awkward with one leg in animal one leg in human. "I think I'm just going to sit down."
With that she slid down the wall and took a seat.
Kazifel was still horrified by her leg. It was mixed with morbid curiosity now but it was still horrifying to see a human with something like that attached to them.
Sage made a confused noise as she looked at the woman. Her leg did indeed smell awful and she really did have a huge nose. Honestly it looked like it could poke someone's eye out! However, she kept her thoughts to herself as she clung to her father.
Parsley's eyes widened at the sudden change of attention. "That's creepy." He said. "People aren't supposed to look like that."
Loreta looked to Hatter. "Just fix Doorie so I don't do something I regret."
