Peaches watched in horror. She wasn't sure what to do. She couldn't jump out and save the day, she was probably the weakest Jack in the court of Hearts. She was just good at watching.
Could she watch this rather pretty man smack some poor innocent fool around?
Did she have an option?
Peaches sat there for a few moments, keeping her eyes locked on the battle--slaughter--or whatever it was. This was a random stranger, why would she help him? They were in the Outer Bazaar. People died here. People died everywhere. Why should she bother to prevent someone's death when they probably wouldn't have done the same.
Moral battle or not maybe she should try to get a closer look.
Activating her Jack ability she walked over to the side of the wall. It wasn't so much a better view, but it was a bit closer to the ground if she did decide to act. She was still out of sight and out of mind, at the very least.
Jack's Magical Ability: Once per week she can climb up walls, even if the surfaces are completely smooth. This includes hanging from ceilings. When she does this, she does not cast a shadow.

Each word was a dagger into his already broken heart and he was shaking his head no, no, it wasn't true, it couldn't be true! But it was; Ladarius was a failure. He saw the blood on the ground, but it didn't sink in that it wasn't supposed to be there. It was perfectly logical that the ground was blood. He didn't try to stand; he didn't deserve to stand. He was an utter failure.
"I didn't mean to! I tried!" he answered the accusations in a different order from their initial presentation. "I left so they'd be safe, I left to protect them!" It didn't matter, he failed.
The shivers struck and now he was pinned to the ground just as surely as if the blue-haired man had done so physically. He shook his head in denial of the words, in denial of the man. "I tried, I swear I tried. . . If it wasn't for those two! It was them, I swear, it was them!"

The sight of the man backing up slowly and shaking made Finistris crouch slightly, body tensed for the upcoming spring. He wanted to feel the sensation on blood beneath his fingers and teeth again. Real! There was only one thing more real than that feeling. His family, they were the only thing more real than this.
And reality was his addiction.
"You tried? Ha! That's a familiar quip, you thought they'd be safe? You should have stayed with them, I should kill you for them." He hissed, moving forward slightly, eyes wide as he watched the blackened tree, quivering slightly as the muscles under the fur contracted. He knew the ground would cause the other man to slip and wasn't surprised when his movements slowed and then stopped in one place.
"It was them? In essence, yes. But in reality, it was you, you know it was, dear sir. You've killed them, over and over again."
He struck quickly, one hand lashing out in an attempt to dig the broken bone rings into the man's face and rip outward along the cheek by the curled horn. Activating another ability as he did so.
Gods! He was alive!
Jack's Ability: Once a week, he is capable of causing an opponent to feel as though horrible, cold, sharp bone fingers are clawing at them for a full five minutes. This forces them to squint for the first thirty seconds as they adjust to the fact that their eyes are not actually under attack. The remainder of the time is spent feeling the pain of constant nicks and scratches that simply won't let up.

It was horrible. How couldn't it be horrible? And yet she was just standing on the side of a building watching the horror unfold. Maybe she should step in? Perhaps she should help the poor ram that was getting beaten down and obviously loosing against the pretty man with blue hair and eyes.
What was the man anyway? What was his region? Why was someone as pretty as him running around in this place? Was he actually going to kill the ram?
Peaches narrowed her eyes. Maybe she really should get a closer look? No. She should stay here for now. She didn't know how dangerous the man actually was. Maybe she should do something to test that? It might be funny. Of course that was assuming he was the right suit.
It was worth a shot! She had a seventy-five chance of missing, but if she hit it on the nose it would be enough to "help" the Avington and enough to keep her amused.
Peaches activated her pain ability, directed at the blue haired man, and hoped for the best.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, she can inflict mental pain on a card of the suit of spades, once per day. The pain will be equivalent to that of the bones in their arm slowly being pulled sideways, as though they were being placed into a straitjacket, which would be highly uncomfortable. The sensation would then tighten progressively the longer she holds the spell.

It was a nightmare, it had to be a horrible nightmare; but he knew it was true and tears streamed from the ram's eyes. He was useless, he had failed his family, failed Ezra, failed Senka. He had failed everyone in his life; this strange man was correct.
He only caught the flash of movement and he jerked backwards reflexively, though certainly not far enough to get out of the way of Finistris' strike. The rings ripped across the flesh, causing a gasp of pain, but it was the ability that caused the ram to scream. Something was ripping out his eyes!
Now they streamed with imagined and real pain, but somewhere amidst it came a light of hope. If he lost his eyes. . . he couldn't see anymore. He would no longer know the horrible truth! It didn't stop the pain, but any desire to fight back that might have normally popped up to defend himself was thoroughly stopped by the thought that he might finally be free from his curse.

Finistris allowed himself a wan smile as he watched the Ram torment himself. They always did it to themselves...that's what made it so fun to watch, the deterioration without his assistance or suggestion.
He raised his arm to shoulder height and then dropped it with a sharp yelp. His bones were skewing themselves to the side, rapidly and painfully. He stared at the appendages, and received a shock to see that they looked perfectly fine. They weren't moving and there was nothing apparently wrong with them, but the pain was certainly there! Not the worst he had ever felt, but the discomfort was nearly enough to make him snarl.
"Well, I wouldn't have expected..." He hissed at the Ram, wondering if it was in fact this low ranked creature causing the pain...or if he had another opponent somewhere nearby. "Who would bother on you?"
He gritted his teeth as he spoke to eliminate any chance of his voice breaking. He wasn't going to have that, even if his arms were trying to break themselves. This felt suspiciously like a Heart ability...his other half gushed over that damn things often enough. He spat, an incredibly ugly look flitting across his features. If there was a Heart nearby...
He turned his attention back on the Ram in a far fouler mood.
"Collapse..."
He readied himself for the lack of sight, listening intently for another body on its way.
Amazing Ability: Once a week, he is capable of causing an opponent's kneecaps to break in half by uttering the word "collapse". They will knit themselves back together within an hour, but until then the other will not be able to run on broken legs. If the opponent id unfortunate enough to be in Animal form and a Quadruped, then all four kneecaps will break, not just the back two. Using this ability causes the caster to see spots for a full ten seconds, obscuring the vision as it clears.

The screaming was a little bit of a surprise. Something was clearly happening--magic apparently-to cause the Avington a great deal of discomfort. Well, that was a bit of an understatement. A small part of her wanted to help by going out there, but she knew better. She may have had her fan, but great lot of good that did when there was a good deal of violent magic to contend with.
Peaches could have laughed when the man yelped in surprise. She honestly hadn't figured it would work, but apparently luck was somewhat on her side. And she would have said it was on the Avington's side as well except with the way things were unfolding it seemed otherwise.
It never occurred to Peaches that if she let go of her pain ability, maybe the blue haired man wouldn't catch on. He would have chalked it up to something other than a Heart perhaps? However, the thought didn't pop into her head as she kept the ability activated and continued to watch and wait.

Ladarius, still partially blinded by the ability and pain, was oblivious to the blue-haired man's pain and was utterly surprised by the terrible shock waiting for him. His eyes were streaming with tears from the pain caused by nicks and scratches that he would nearly have sworn were actually there.
It would have been nice for him, therefore, to have been in too much pain and too distracted by his mental and emotional turmoil to have not feel what happened next. The Avington was not that fortunate. All four of his knees broke at once, sending sharp, radiating pain up through all of his legs all at the same time.
He couldn't scream, a horrified gasp was the only sound he could make as he did just as Finistris had said; he collapsed. He wished he could scream, wished he could do anything that might help alleviate some of the agony he was in now, but he just couldn't even move.

Finistris gasped as his vision blurred out and the pain in his arm became more sharply focused. His teeth ground together as the bones squeaked against each other. It was a Heart...a high ranking one if he was as good a judge as he thought. When he found the worthless little scut who found this amusing...
The Avington's reaction to his spell was satisfying though, the resounding thud of a body hitting the ground told him it had been successful, as had the gasp of pain. The world faded back into focus slowly and he stalked forward, no longer amused in the slightest.
"I'm terribly sorry, sir." He murmured, leaning forward over the Ram his voice returning to the light conversational tone it had held when the ordeal had begun. "But someone else has decided to enter the field, and I don't have time to deal with you any longer."
He reached down with his free arm to touch the top of the Ram's head, sinking fingers in wherever they landed and murmuring, cease. ((If he misses for whatever reason, assume Fin missed that for the moment and is too intent on this new person.))
He then turned and looked around himself, waiting for any move or sound.
"I know you're out there... Why don't you present yourself, we can discuss things...Heart."
He tried his best not to snarl the last word, only succeeding by the skin of his teeth.
Amazing Ability: Once a week, he is able to touch any Card, ranked 6 or lower, and cause them to slowly fade from life over the course of 2 minutes. If the Card casts a spell of their own in this time, or manages to have a friend say their name, the spell can be canceled or paused for the time being. If not, then the spell will proceed as originally designed.

Peaches bit her lower lip as she watched from the shadows. The blue haired man was quite angry, and the poor Ram didn't seem to be doing well. She debated on shifting her position to get a better look, but from here it looked like he wasn't going to make it to see daylight.
This was a dangerous man, and she had managed to piss him off thoroughly. He was even calling out so she would reveal herself.
Right now she had the advantage. He didn't know where she was, and she still had him under her pain ability. She could easily slink away right now--after all she didn't stand a chance in a fair fight. There was the other option of playing with the man for a bit. As long as he didn't catch her everything would work.
A typical cat like smirk graced her face as she slowly made her way down the wall of the building. She grabbed a few broken stones and then bolted up the side of the building. Once she had reached the top she dropped one of the stones, hoping that it would generate enough of a sound for a distraction.
And just as a gesture of "good will" she released her pain ability.
