"Just a few items I managed to acquire off of a wandering leveret a while ago," He took his other paw and placed it on top of hers. That hadn't been too long ago. And he was still struggling to settle in to the proper role of Jack now that he was one. Being proper was far harder than he had imagined.
But talk about books made things better.
"I found an interesting book comparing the fashion of Cards to some of the fashion trends among Rabbits. There is a novelization of some fairy tales with a rather interesting twist. Also there's a rather interesting book about the philosophy of aesthetics. The rest I can't particularly recall. It's a decent pile of odds and ends that would add a good deal of variety to the library." Which was far bigger than he ever thought it was going to be. Now that he had someone who loved to read he had no excuse to skimp on purchasing novels.

Seena nodded; that seemed all right, then. Granted, she knew Heike had the sense to know what they could afford to trade away and what sorts of things were in such supply that they couldn't afford it, but her mind naturally gravitated toward categorizing every object in their Warren. His Warren.
The Doe had to repress a squeal of delight at the words. So many new books! The excitement in her tone and posture was almost tangible. "Oh, those all sound so fascinating, dear Heike!" she exclaimed, blue eyes shining. "I always do love the books that give insight into the mysterious ways of Cards, and it's been a while since I read a good fairy tale...oh, I can barely wait to start reading them!" Her tail gave a happy wiggle, mind racing with what new treasures of knowledge these new books would be!
But before she could say anything more, perhaps request that the books be brought to her room sooner, rather than later...an odd sensation made her gasp sharply. She looked down at her distended belly in surprise. Was that...what she thought it was? Had one of her babies just kicked? What a strange sensation...

Heike grinned at her comment. Good. He had done well when it came to finding books then. He relaxed a bit, opening his mouth to say something, until Seena gasped. He jumped with surprise, his hands reaching out to gasp her.
"Are you all right?" he asked almost kneeling down besides her. The panic on his face was quite clear, his fur almost standing on end. His wide terrified eyes waiting for a response. She was all right? Was she in pain? What was going on? Was there something wrong with the children? He could feel the overwhelming panic continuing to well up.
Breathing. Breathing might be good. If something was terribly wrong he would have known. he had dealt with a pregnant Doe before. He had gone through all of the training to take care of one as a leveret, he shouldn't be panicking over something like this.
But he was. And it was hard not to.

Seena was distracted enough that it actually took her a moment to realize Heike had spoken to her. Her wide blue eyes stared down at the bump, the one she had just felt...one ear twitched and she looked up to see Heike, features clearly showing surprise. After a moment however (though it most likely felt longer to the panicking Jack) she broke into a soft smile. Though it was a tired expression, there was something almost...radiant in it.
"Yes, I'm fine...don't worry, Heike dear," she said calmly, though there was an edge to her voice. "It was just...here." Reaching out, Seena grasped one of his hands in her paws, gently pulling at it until it rested on her stomach. Almost no sooner had the light weight of his touch tickled her belly than she felt another kick. She gave Heike a side long glance, looking hopeful. Even if they weren't his babies, in the end, even if they turned out to be Rhodney's...would he still be happy? Would he still help raise them to be proper little Does and Leverets?
As long as they learned to read and use their heads properly, that was what Seena cared about...and that they wouldn't be...rotting. Eugh. Mother's love or not, she wasn't sure if she could honestly ever look on something like that...

It seemed like an eternity to the Jack. His breath caught in his throat until she spoke. He was a little surprised when she reached out to him, pulling his hand to rest on her stomach. His hand twitched awkwardly when he felt the kick. It wasn't at all what he was expecting, his ears pulling forward in curiosity.
It must have been strange. It certainly felt strange from his perspective. A small smile found it's way onto his face as he sighed with relief. Children. There were going to be children to raise. Even if they weren't his he would... have them here. They would be properly raised as leverets (or if they were lucky enough Does) and they would be traded off. And he would make sure that they went to a proper warren.
Hopefully none of them would be Lowlanders. He didn't mind Lowlanders all that much, but trading them would have been absolute hell. Layla was quite a find, despite being part Lowlander she was a wonderful cook and dependable as a leveret. Of course Not everyone would see things in that light.
He slipped his hand off of her stomach. "Okay... this is going to be quite the adventure." He gave the Doe a light kiss on the forehead. "Just call for me if you need anything. I'll bring the books by this afternoon."

Heike seemed...interested, at least. Perhaps a little surprised. That was good, right? Seena smiled slowly, half closing her eyes as she watched her Jack's reactions. If she were more awake, she may have been a bit disgruntled with herself for how much she cared about what Heike thought. Well, of course she had to care somewhat, as he was, after all, her Jack and solely responsible, under the rules of their society, for deciding the fates of the children...but she cared that extra amount, wanting him to like the children, be proud of them...
Be proud of her...for someone who wanted to be partially independent, Seena really did care about Heike too much. But somehow, for now, in that moment...it seemed like it would be all right. Heike was different. It was, after all, why she'd come to care as much as she had...
"Mmm," she agreed, shutting her eyes fully for a moment at the kiss, and bringing a paw to touch on his arm lightly in parting. Then, her clear blue eyes rose to fix on his face, vulnerable and full of soft emotions as she smiled. "I look forward to it."
In the meantime, maybe she could actually stay awake long enough to figure out the genetics of a possible litter with Rhodney!
((ooc should we timeskip to having the children now or...what do you think? XD))

The Jack left to do what work he had planned for the rest of the day. He got quite a bit done. And almost everything was in proper order by the time that he had gotten finished. Of course there was still the proper organization of where things went. He hadn't quite reorganized the decorum to a proper sense of "finished."
It would be nice to have more help.
In the evening Heike had arrived with her books. There were quite a few for the Doe to go through. As long as she didn't read like lightning it should last her for a little while. Of course, considering the circumstances, she would probably be done faster than usual.
Time passed. Everything was eventually in order. And the day came closer and closer. Heike could feel himself panic the more he thought about having to take care of babies. Was his warren ready for this sort of thing? Was he ready for this sort of thing?
When he got the knock on the door he would bolt to the Doe's side.
(( OOC: Tada? ))

As much as Seena tried to fight the growing sense of lethargy, the latest stages of her pregnancy found her mostly in bed, reading or sleeping and looking forward immeasurably more than usual to the visits of her Jack.
As prepared as she thought she was for the birth of her children (FINALLY the little ones could be out of her and she could be back to work!) she didn't have much warning when the day finally came...or rather, the night. Because of course her babies couldn't help but be born in the middle of the night.
By the time Heike got there, the Leverets had already set Seena up as best they could, and she lay on the bed, breathing deeply in the way her books had told her to, and pushing as much as she could. She had even tried to have one of her books on the bed with her for reference, but the pain was too distracting.
Blurrily, Seena opened her eyes as she thought she heard someone else enter the room. "Heike, I think--AH!" She shut her eyes as another contraction hit, harder, and tried to reach a paw for her Jack.
((pfft I have no idea what this kind of thing is like lol. >_> But I figure the Doe is born first...?))

Heike was in no way prepared for this. When he entered the room and the door clicked behind him, he hardly expected Seena to react. He jumped when she called him, rushing over to her side. Why were children always born at awkward hours? His ears pulled back as he squeezed her paw. "I'm right here," he said. Knowing full well that there was no coaching he could do to make things better. Everyone was handling the situation very well. The rabbit bit the inside of his cheek as he waited with a small bit of terror in his heart. So many things could go wrong in these moments that were completely out of his control. The first child's cries were heard in a few moments. A tiny Doe who looked remarkably like her mother appeared. The Jack lit up as soon as the news was confirmed by one of the leverets. This was fantastic! A perfect little Doe! But... it wasn't over from the looks of it. (( OOC: I hope that wasn't too bad ))

Seena was only vaguely aware of what was going on, though the paw squeezing hers helped to ground her. It could be worse, the Doe reflected to herself, as if from a great distance, as a hard contraction was followed by cries of surprise and delight and a different sort of cries entirely that made Seena wish she had the presence of mind to pay more attention. She could be giving birth alone, or in filth, or terror...not that the fear of having something that was rotting come out of her wasn't present, but at least, from what she'd read, there was less chance of that than she'd feared initially. Another strong contraction brought her back to reality, and she gritted her teeth and pushed...a second child's cries soon joining to first, and Seena knew it was over. Just two, then...a manageable number even for their small Warren. Her eyes sought Heike's as the Leverets cleaned up her and the children and rushed about. " Did...I hear we have a little Doe?" she asked, annoyed to find her voice somewhat scratchy. The children were hers and Heike's, no matter who fathered them...he would never see them nor have any say in their futures. " What about the second one? A Leveret, perhaps?" None of them are rotting, right? she thought, but couldn't bring herself to say. She couldn't see the Leverets exchanging worried glances and shaking their heads over the other child, over her...son, as the poor child squirmed and wiggled to try and get back to his mother.
