Imre was very surprised to be escorted straight to the table with the other kids, and the old lady looked very pleased and just a bit shocked. Least she wasn't looking at his chest... Absently Imre glanced down at it, verifying that it was still black and that no one would make any remarks before he hopped up into the booth next to the red-cloaked person. The other side of the booth was primarily occupied by the misty-eyed person and arms-were-shoulders-should-be person...
The bird smiled behind his mask, and focused first on the lady who wanted their order.
"Do you have Cherry-Vanilla?" Slowly his gaze drifted around toward the others, something that would be hard to tell through his slotted mask, and reaffirmed that they were all a few years younger than him... 'cept for red-cloak person, he couldn't tell anything about him 'cept that he had some neat bat-like wings... Was he shy?
Whatever the case, he would do the proper thing and introduce himself once everyone had ordered.

"Yeah.. Perhaps." The fact that the guy was so openly attempting to create a friendship heartened the blanketed card. Perhaps... perhaps if they didn't scream at the sight of him when... if.. he showed them his face, a true friendship could come from it.
Karrock couldn't help but look at the newcomer. For a moment he'd thought he was Torque.. then Tulgey.. then.. both? He supposed so. there could be only so many mixes a purely black and white person could be. At least his patterning was attractive. The buzzard caught his attention when it came to ordering ice cream, and he decided upon strawberry, finally.
Taking their orders, the cheerful lady smiled and turned back into the kitchen. Karrock had only just started to become comfortable around his small group. A new addition made him somewhat uncomfortable. Allowing the brighter, more talkative Xander take over if he so wished.

Xander instantly perked at the idea of more people. Othello seemed to droop as he listened to the other person. Another person to worry about Xander offending. Another person to worry about in general.
Xander took the lead as the "leader" of sociable conversation. Really it was like an ice cream social for the anti-social with the way things were going. "We haven't seen many other kids running around are you from around here? I'm Xan and this is my brother Othello. Our shy friend's name is K, and you're...?" The feline offered the widest and happiest smile he could muster.
Othello meanwhile had caught the image of something moving from the corner of his eye. His heart skipped a beat as he watched the image come into full view. He gave a small whimper and closed his eyes, setting his head on the table. "Xan, I don't know if this is a good place."
The feline's grin turned into a frown. Sometimes Othello was right about things like that, but this wasn't a good time. He gave his brother a small pat on the head to comfort him. "Don't mind my brother, he's blind and gets nervous in public places," Xander explained to the newcomer. He glanced back to Karrock with a rather nervous flush.

Imre smiled.
He liked this group already. They were all neat looking and Othello -- for all that he had misty eyes -- was a Torque and he was quite comfortable around Torques. "It's a pleasure to meet you all, Xan - K - Othello. I'm Imre." He fluffed up happily, still smiling. It'd been a while since he'd met and successfully enjoyed time with anyone his age outside of his family. His suit usually made people give him funny looks. "No, I'm not really from around here." The little bird leaned in, as if about to impart a very important secret.
"I just left The Wood." Sometimes it was interesting to see how people reacted. "I was one of three servants to a powerful Mage." Most of the time they assumed he was making it up, unless they caught a hint of the red through his mask or something of the sort and realized he was also part Tulgey. "It's nice being free now though."
When Othello lowered his voice with noticeable concern, however, Imre hesitated and peered curiously at the boy. Blind? ...he could understand that a bit. "I'm partially blind," he admitted more to Othello than anyone else. "My mask makes it really hard to see anything except for little slits of what's directly in front of me." The crow nodded sagely. "So I understand." Well, he didn't... but he didn't know just what sort of Blind Othello was.

A servant? That seemed almost farfetched. How did he escape? Did he learn any magic? He stared at the creature quite oddly. How he had managed to escape was beyond him... If the story was even true.
It was strange company, certainly. With a newcomer at the table, Karrock was feeling overwhelmed, and Othello's paranoia had not gotten any better. Was it him? Did even a blind creature inherently know of his hideousness? He went quiet as the icecream came, picking at it without really eating much as he surveyed those around him.
"What is he so afraid of, anyways? It's not like I'm -evil- or anything. Is it me?" His soft voice reached a more catty pitch. Perhaps he wasn't blind at all. Perhaps he was just faking it and could actually see people for their true selves behind costumes and spells. He wouldn't doubt it; he'd heard of people with such powers.
((My muse is being weird and crazy. He got paranoid and hermitty all of a sudden. o.o I blame it on lack of social interaction))

A powerful mage? That sounded pretty interesting. The Wood was some place that he was told never to go, but now that he knew someone... maybe he could convince them to take him there. That would be one heck of an adventure. Xander's tail twitched at the exciting thought. "You come from the Wood? Cool."
Othello closed his eyes and took deep breaths. He just had to ignore what was going on. These people seemed nice but he really couldn't focus. He nodded at Imre's comment before hiding his face with his one good paw, ultimately leaning his chin on the table so he wouldn't go flying out of his chair.
Things were running down hill faster than he thought they would. Xander's ears pressed against his skull when Karrock's voice went up. Well at least the new comer wasn't upset... though how could he explain things?
"This is going to sound crazy," Xander said with a sigh. He looked from Imre to Karrock. "We think that Othello can see into the past. I know that sounds utterly ridiculous but... sometimes he says he sees things that actually happened. If he is seeing anything bad it has nothing to do with you--or any of us for that matter."
Othello whimpered and nodded. "Th-thorry."
Xander waved one of his hands. "And we know you're not evil K. If you were you wouldn't be here. Evil doesn't like to make friends or eat ice cream."

Imre was a little surprised by the red-cloaked guy's sudden... cattiness, for a lack of a better word.
No one had really directed anything hostile at him or anything, right? Or maybe he'd missed it? That was a possibility, but Imre quickly forgot about it as Xander started explaining. Seeing into the past? That was awesome!
"Oh? That's a sort of neat ability... So it's probably not K but someone that was here before... or will be here." He thought about this for a second before an overactive part of his mind sparked up. What if...? He lowered his voice suddenly, an excited glint shining in his shielded red eyes. "What if... it's the ice cream people? This is a weird place for an ice cream shoppe, huh? What if they eat little kids." It wasn't that far fetched right?
Except didn't cannibals have special markings? Hmm, he couldn't remember. Oh well.
The little bird lapped at his ice cream for a minute, thinking. "It's possible, though, that this place wasn't even an ice cream shoppe before."
(Uhhh, I apologize if Imre is odd >_> I don't think he's very good at socializing with peers at this point. XD)

".... Oh."
Well, what else could one say after they'd made a complete ass of themselves? Immediately Karrock had regretted the comment. Immediately, The oddly colored Torque had offered an explanation for his brother, without even a hint of being angry at him for his outburt. And the misty eyed blind one... well, he was nothing but contrite.
Hm. So, evil didn't eat ice cream? No wonder evil folk were as nasty as they were. If no icecream was some prerequisite to being some villainous individual, then he'd be nasty too. The corners of his beak curled into something of a half smile, though sadly, his blanked probably did a good job of hiding that.
"They're far to nice to eat children. I've heard of cannibals before. I've heard their eyes are horribly frightening, and they have marks beneath their eyes." Karrock said quickly. One didn't hang out in the grungier parts of the Capital without hearing about the horrors of the world. He'd yet to see one for himself, though. "Though in this part of town.. I would agree. Who knows what this store was before it was an icecream parlor."

Xander was certainly surprised at the accepting atmosphere. No one ever really believed him before about his brother... even his parents had doubts even if it was completely obvious. He tilted his head at the mention of cannibals. No... he doubted the ice cream people were that.
He licked his ice cream for a bit before returning to the conversation and trying to help Othello eat his own ice cream. "This place was probably something else... or they had problems which I don't--Othello, come on, don't be difficult."
Othello had clamped his mouth shut and was refusing to talk, let alone accept something from his brother. Apparently the prospect of ice cream wasn't good enough to sway him. He shook his head and whimpered rather pitifully.
Xander looked disappointed. At least they had put Othello's ice cream in a dish. He gave a small sigh and patted his brother lightly on the head. "Fine, have it your way." He turned back to the two other boys. "Sorry about this. He must have seen something pretty scary. He'll be fine in a bit."

Imre tilted his head, having to crane it every which way to see through the thin slits in his mask. "I think it's intriguing that one could see into the past instead of the present." When he was done taking in his surroundings he tilted his head down to see that Othello had pretty much clamped up into a little ball.
Was he that frightened? The young bird shrugged very lightly and turned back to Xander with an avian grin. "No worries, he can take his time."
Imre licked at his ice cream for a second and then peered back at Xander and Karrock. He knew very little about either of these boys, just that they had appeared to be of a similar age when he'd waltzed in. "So where are you three from? Do you live around here?" Imre knew he was changing the subject, but that seemed better than pestering Othello about what he saw. "I was looking for a library out here that my brother mentioned, but I believe I've gotten turned around. Maybe you three could help?" A shot in the dark, maybe, but things like that were always worth a shot.
