Othello wanted to scream as he padded behind his brother. The people. The things. Everything was awful. He didn't like the city. It was scary. Why was his brother so happy about skipping down the cobble stones? Was he even skipping? Othello whimpered as he caught sight of a woman kneeling, he skittered to the side. "Othello, what's wrong?" Xander asked he stopped to allow his brother to catch up. Sometimes he wondered why he didn't have a leash or something for him. It would be easier dealing with him spazzing out over everything. Of course, Mom would smack him upside the head for even thinking about such a thing. Highlands only knew what Dad would do. "Besideth everything?" Othello said as he bumped into his brother. At least he hoped it was his brother. Felt like his brother. Being blind really sucked. "Let me rephrase that, why are you whimpering?" "Because we thouldn't be here! This is a bad and horrible place! And.... and.... Why did you bring me here?" Othello said as he flopped down into the sitting position. "Because you need to get out more. Come on, let's keep moving. It'll do you some good, I promise." Xander said as he gave his brother a light pat on the head with one of his arms.

This part of down was not necessarily known to be the brightest and friendliest of places, and while some parts of the outer bazaar wasn't necessarily overtly corrupt, it was still not a place children went alone. For some reason though, the streets seemed rife with them. An adolescent form hulked through the alleyways, swathed in a fine sheet of cloth of crimson hue. It was enough to hide the bulk of his body, the fabric twisted about to hide his face as well. even then, his webbed wings stayed exposed, along with the slithering expanse of his snakelike tail. The bulk of his horrific appearance though, would be hidden. --- A hulking figure rushed down the street, pausing only when he noticed the swathed creature. "Ey there.. lil' thing. C'mere." The creature was of some regional mix of Lowlander and something indiscernable, his canine lips peeled back maliciously as he reached out to grab the cloth from the small frame. What the man saw.. frightened him. "Wuh.. Whu the hell are you!?"-- The motion had scared him, though Karrock would probably never admit it. He let out a squawk, reaching out with the talons on the wrist joint on his wings to keep the cloth to him. The horror on the face of his attacker both disgusted and amused him. So, had he been expecting some 'pretty thing' to be hiding under that cloth? "What the hell am I? Something to fear I assure you." Even when he did his best to sound menacing, Karrock's voice lilted up into a light, musical tone, a grin tilting his beak as he opened his mouth wide.... flicking a pair of long fangs from the roof of his mouth. --- The crashing of trashcans caught many a person's eye as the biped fell backwards, scrambling away from the horrid sight. "Monster! It's a bloody monster!" But he wouldn't dare stick around. As soon as he managed his footing, he bolted down the street. Soon after, Karrock darted from the alley in the opposite direction, quickly reswathing his body in the cloth before his appearance could catch attention. --- Idiotic bastard, calling attention to him like that. Even as the adolescent cursed under his breath, his heart pounded. Karrock wasn't insane with power, or even very brave. The confrontation shook him badly enough that he was actually -regretting- sneaking out to wander the seedier parts of the market. Then again, it was in this part of town where most people wouldn't find it odd for a person to be trying to conceal their identity.

Xander's ears swiveled in surprise at the sounds of crashing. He couldn't see the source but it was near by. Othello had jumped, letting out a small yelp before nearly tackling his brother. Xander struggled to calm him down for a few minutes.
And then someone walked out of the alleyway a few feet ahead of them.
Xander perked at the size of the person. They must have been around the same age... or at the very least the other card couldn't have been an adult. His tail swished as she shrugged off his brother. "Excuse me! Are you all right there?" Xander called at the figure, taking a few steps forward.
Othello was thoroughly confused. He saw no one, but that didn't mean anything. What he couldn't see was what could hurt him. The mix child's tail puffed up in terror as he moved next to his brother. "I think we thould go."
Xander continued to ignore him.

Karrock had slowed only slightly, not sure of someone was speaking to -him- or someone else. The all too clear sound of a frightened voice though, made him grit his beak. So, what? They were scared of them too? Did they happen to catch a glance of him before he'd been able to cover himself? In an aggressive move, he swung around. He had a mind to freeze the little brat and turn him to stone right then and there...
"Why do you want to go? Am I just that -horrible- to look at!" Funny enough, the two creatures standing behind him made him pause. As a matter of fact, he was almost -frightened- by them at first glance. One of them had.. mist oozing out of their eyes! Could he even see?
"Uh..." He paused, lifting the draping cloth just a touch so he could take a better look at the two of them. Were they... Torques? The bindings pegged them as at least half breeds. It was only an afterthought that he took notice of their rank... their -high- rank. were they from the courts? He wouldn't know; he wasn't really allowed out of their living quarters.
Goodness... they both looked absolutely strange. Delightfully strange, and the yellow and white creature was a joy to look at. The cowering creature with the oozing eyes... It was good to know he and his brother wasn't the only oddity in the world.

Othello jumped at the other person's comment, nearly falling backwards if it weren't for his brother's reassuring tug. The cat-coyote made a small whimper. "Thorry," he said as he looked in the general direction of the voice. "I didn't mean you. I meant...." He swallowed and cut himself off with a short trailing whistle. No, he wasn't going to sound crazy to a complete stranger. He simply closed his eyes and bowed his head.
Xander half rolled his eyes at his brother before giving him another reassuring tug. "Sorry, my brother is blind. He didn't mean you though... from what I can see of you you don't look all that ugly." He shrugged. There wasn't much he could see of the person he was talking to. There was just a lot of red.
The guy did have a really weird voice. If it was a man. Xander couldn't tell for the life of him at the moment.
"Are you looking to get into trouble too out here?" Xander said with a cheerful smile.
Othello made a sound of protest, "I thought you thaid we were going outh for my own good!"
Xander waved one of his hands dismissively even though his brother couldn't see it. "It is for your own good. If you stay locked up you'll be a Mama's boy forever."
"What if I like being a Mama'th boy?"
"Anyway... what was all that racket?" Xander asked the person in red. Ignoring his brother's whimper.

Well, -damn-. Karrock felt honest to goodness bad. He didn't mean to actually cut the guy down. When the yellow one mentioned his brother was blind, Karrock actually perked up. So.. the guy couldn't even see him? Blind friends would solve everything!
Then again, there was only one of them that was blind. Not too ugly? In that case, he hadn't even seen him. He wasn't about to pull his blanket down and test the guy; doing that outside in a busy street just wasn't a good idea.
"Trouble?" For a moment, he stiffened. Perhaps he was afraid of being 'outed' to his aunt that he'd snuck out... but that really didn't make sense. No... these were just kids out having fun. Normal.. or at least sort of normal kids. He gave a light, hesitant giggle.
"Oh.. just some jerk trying to mug me or something in the alley. He responded vaguely. What else was he supposed to say? 'Well, I'm just so hideous he turned tail and ran'? Yeah, that would go over -great-...

"Really? You must be pretty powerful if you're still fine! Or you must have some neat tricks up your sleeves, so to speak!" The feline's tail swished briefly in interest as he looked at the person in red. Name. That might be a good thing. Or at least a nick name. "I'm Xan, my brother is the tragic Othello."
"I'm not tragic," Othello protested is a shot a glare in the general direction of his brother. All he could see was the empty street. It was confusing, because he knew there were people there just... he snapped his head around. He had seen something out of the corner of his eye. His tail puffed up slightly as he edged closer to his brother. There was nothing there. Everything was fine. Nothing there. His brother would have noticed. "I really don't... like thith."
"It's all in your head," Xander whispered as he nudged his brother. He knew it wasn't, since Othello had quoted things many of times that had actually happened in the palace. His brother wasn't blind to the past at the least, he just couldn't see the present. He turned back to the person in red, "Wanna get off the street and go somewhere? This isn't the best place to talk."

Powerful. Yeah. Powerfully ugly. He grinned a bit at his own personal joke. He really couldn't be morose about it all the time. Then the bolder of the two introduced himself and his brother. Should he give his name? Karrock didn't see the harm in it; he'd probably never see them again, after all. "Karrock. It's... good to meet you two." Really, it was. It.. was probably the first time he'd actually talked to someone his age besides Erroll.
"Uh.. Yeah. That'd be great. I've got a little money if you guys want to.. I guess, get some icecream? I don't know how easy that is to find in this part of town, though. I haven't come out here much." He hadn't come out into town much at all. Perhaps he'd snuck out... three times?
The kid... Othello. He didn't look any less terrified than when he first looked at him. A bit of a head case, wasn't he? Then again.. being in a world of darkness was probably scary. Little did Karrock know, what Othello went through was probably much more terrifying than mere darkness.

"Nice to meet you, Karrock. That's a pretty cool name." Xander said, and Othello bobbed his head in acknowledgment before looking off.
Ice cream was a wonder idea, but his mother had always mentioned that eating anything in this part of town was a bad idea. Then again he had already traveled this far, maybe they could find a place that wasn't laced with poison or something awful. "Yeah, that sounds like a fun idea. But I can't imagine it would be easy to find a place around here. But hey, we can make a trip out of it!"
Othello wasn't listening to is brother, he was just watching in abject horror down the street. Someone was being attacked. No wonder their parents didn't want them here. Everything was completely horrible. "Xan...." Othello trailed off and swallowed. He wanted to go now. He didn't want to see what was going to happen to the poor begging woman.
Xander tapped his brother on the head lightly, watching him jump. "Wake up, we're going to get some ice cream or something, so don't panic."
"Okay...."

And so the hunt began! Karrock wasn't able to make much conversation; one could say that he wasn't exactly well versed in the ways of conversation and tact, and with Orthello acting the way he was, it felt odd striking a conversation. Perhaps after some ice cream, the guy would realize there was nothing to be afraid of?
They finally found a place; on the edge of the outer Bazaar, it was an interestingly placed parlor that didn't see much action during the day, but rather it was enough to keep the elderly Sorgaire couple from debt. It was a nice enough place during the day, though it was a guarantee that they'd had a few windows smashed out over the years by drunkards at night.
"Well! This doesn't seem too bad, right?" He chirped, sitting himself in a seat and rearranging his red cloth.
