It was almost a relief now, to be in the Capital. When once the little Leveret had found the noise and crowds disturbing, disorienting...now the rush and blur of Cards was solace. The Warren was too empty. Here, the city teemed with life, and it was better to be here, surrounded by others, than to be alone. Much better. It was ironic, how once the little Leveret had found such comfort in being by herself. It had been the only time she could be happy, free to do as she wished and dreamed she could. Now, being alone was a curse. She was constantly haunted by that...-thing-. It wasn't enough that it had infected her dreams, left her sweating and shaking and biting her own paw to stifle the screams as she woke in the night. Now, it would be there whenever she was alone, show its face in every mirror, and even when she couldn't see or hear it, she could almost feel it, a constant cold prickle on the back of her neck. Or she could be going insane. Wearily, the little Leveret (disguising her true appearance in a green cloak with a hood to cover those ears) trudged down the cobblestone street, restless and exhausted. Even fully grown to adulthood now (her most recent birthday had been only days past, but no one had wanted to celebrate and she hadn't been in the mood anyway, since that was the day the Squirrel showed up to haunt her waking hours) she was still slight, small enough to mostly escape notice. For that, she was grateful...small favors were all she could expect from fate, it seemed...

Once again Sabe had the time to come outside the courts again. He loved having these moments where he could walk away for some time and spend it alone or even in the busy capital. He loved the bustling crowds, that people didn't know him or did and paid respects. He was just happy today to be free of paper works, and even to be walking his bander, which he never had a chance to do much. Kira his bander moved along the busy street dodging peoples legs and claws. She was such a nice one, not like those others that tore up everything and ate your furniture. She was one of the newer breeds that they had just started breeding. He had seen others that were weird and had mutations of the sort that he would have wished that someone would have put them down to save them the embarrassment of living their lives. He shivered as he thought about that one that had its bones growing through the skin in weird ways. He felt a tight jerk on his leash and the ringing of bells as he saw that the bander was starting to growl at a small figure in a green cloak. It was hot too... why would anyone wear a cloak? "KIra! Heal Kira." he commanded as he then reached down and picked up the bander in his arms. He gazed back down, "I'm sorry good sir... I didn't think that she would ever do something like that." he said as he tried to calm the wriggling bander in his arms. Curious... he had never seen someone walk the way he was... probably a torque with a leg binding he thought.

Myth, tired as she was, had gone into a sort of trance, an almost waking sleep, as she shuffled along in the crowd. Therefore, she didn't pick up on the little noises that should have alerted her to the Bandersnatch's presence (the jingling of the bells on its collar, its growling) until it was too late, and the snarling creature was right in front of her. She tensed, going rigid, and her back legs automatically folded in preparation to send her bounding away from the predator at top speed.
But then, the creature suddenly vanished up into the air, and a voice spoke from above her. This was, if possible, more horrible than the snarling Bander had been. A Card was speaking to her. A very, very tall Card. Blue eyes, just barely visible under the heavy hood, looked up at what she could now see was some sort of Bird, and for a moment Myth thought it must be the same Card she'd met before, and he'd recognized her and come to take revenge on...she shook her head to clear it of the paranoid thoughts. He was completely the wrong color, and his voice didn't sound at all like she remembered it.
"Ah...ah, it's okay, don't worry about it, Sir," the Rabbit said meekly, with a little bow. She had no idea if this was an important Card, after all. It would be evident from her voice that the Card had mistaken her gender. She would have hastened to correct him, but she knew that among Cards, males were not viewed as badly as among Leverets.
She waited for the Card to say something, hoping that he'd just let her be on her way. Her cloak was pulled tightly about her and completely hid her true identity.

He saw the small, if he had to guess, mouse and realized that it was a female. He blinked a few times seeing the blue eyes and smiled some, even though Kira kept growling in his arms. He didn't know why the Bander was acting like this but knew it was probably to do with some strange scent. Probably where the person came from... he wasn't a hound or anything so he couldn't pick up anything odd about her. So he just gave up and decided that it was a female Torquehelm mouse with some rather embarrassing bindings.
"I'm... I'm sorry Miss? Oh... Umm... I'm sorry really about calling you something else... For my grave insult would you care if I treat you out to something to eat?" he said as he leaned down so that he could get a good gaze at the person before him. He did after all give her a bad insult. . .

Myth's heart was pounding in fear, not only from the strange growling creature, but from the fact that she was actually talking to a Card. She didn't get the immediate dismissal from him that she'd hoped for, and her long ears pressed closer to the side of her head under the cloak. She tried to stand firm, though his words made her just want to bolt.
But that wouldn't be polite at all, would it? But did she have to be polite to a Card? Even if running off (and she'd surely lose him in the crowd) was the wrong thing to do, she'd just need to bleed herself a little for it later. She could deal with that. Right?
There were only seconds to decide, as he was leaning down to try and see under her hood. Myth shrunk a little further into the cloak, blue eyes wide. Her front paws shuffled with a very odd, scraping sound as her bone cuffs rubbed against each other, and she suddenly felt ill. Running would mean being alone to bleed her shame away, which would mean...
"Oh, that's very kind of you, Sir," the little Rabbit said in what she hoped sounded less like a frightened squeak to him than it did to her. "I do believe I shall take you up on that offer. So, lead on, good sir!"

Menefer didn't quite know what the matter was with the card, yet his mind started to race... maybe its a lowlander ace... oh how he hated those creatures... Now he knew that if the card ran away that he wouldn't feel bad at all. It was after that time that he had to deliver a note to someone in the Lowlands where a group of them had jumped him and did quite a bit of damage to him. Since then he never really liked them.
Menefer stood up realizing that the other didn't want the other to see him... though for some reason he just didn't want him leaving his sight... so he would start off and place Kira back onto the ground, and glance over his shoulder every once in a while.
"So... Miss, where you from... I take it that you don't live here in the capital." he said hoping to get something out of her. and if she was a lowlander, he would turn her away something quick.

For a heart-stopping minute, Myth thought she was about to be found out: the big, scary bird would throw back her hood, or rip off her cloak, or use one of his scary Car powers to freeze her in place or... The moment passed, and Myth let out a soft breath as he turned and began to walk off, expecting her to follow. She entertained the thought, briefly, of just bolting...but then he turned back over his shoulder to glance at her, and she hurried to catch up.
She kept pace a few steps behind him, her loping gait (with a slight hop) possibly seeming a bit odd to a Card who knew how most small animals walked. But Myth was unaware that something like that could give her away, just as she was unaware of most of the subtleties of Card society.
"I...I'm full-blooded Mid Range, Sir, but my Wa--but I live in the Selkie Lakes with my F-father." Oh, how she hoped he hadn't noticed that little slip! She could feel the warm burn as the enchanted cuts on her back began to bleed, just a bit, but she was careful to not let them bleed enough for it to be visible on the cloak.

Menefer just kept walking as he heard where the lady had come from, but wondered what she had said... it was a slip of words, but to him, it meant nothing... so he left it at that. Though now since he knew that she wasn't a Lowlander did he wonder if she was a ace? She spoke too well to not be one... it may just be that her parents were experimenting with potions and trinkets of magic to enhance there daughter... ewww... maybe she was disfigured?
He gazed over his shoulder to see if he could... just to see... even though if it were true it would be rather bad to look at someone that was disfigured... well... suits... He still couldn't see anything. He was turning his head back around when he bumped into someone and nearly tripped. The other yelled at him and gave a few choice curses, though Sabe just bowed his head and gave his apologies without stopping... He really hated using rank...
Sabe found a suitable spot. It was a restaurant that served many different likings. So that even those that would only eat veggies could eat as the other eats meat... you couldn't find too many places that served both and good at that. Now the restaurant wasn't a four star or even a one... it was just a good place to eat, a place where he always came when he had the funds and the time when he was younger and of lesser rank.
He would open the door wave to the head cook and wait for the lil'mis to enter first. He would sit at a table and wait for her to come as well.
"So... Since I have taken you out to dinner, I guess that it would only be polite to offer ones name." he said as he smiled some as he tied Kira off on the chair leg so that she wouldn't run away nor growl any more at the lil'miss. "Well my name is Sabe and I'm a..." he was about to say more when the waitress walked up.... someone that he had relations with before... some time back... he had to dismiss her somewhat as he quickly ordered something to drink... though the woman didn't seem to take it that well... and gave back the palm of her hand to his beak...
Afterward when she left Sabe would smile some... "I guess I desreved that one... showing up at the restaurant with another beautiful woman..." he said with a broader smile... "So what was your name again? I didn't catch it." he said as he thought about this whole ordeal... some gossip was going to fly on this one... if she was disfigured, he might be able to pass it off as good will... hopefully.

When nothing came of her slip, Myth was able to stop her cuts from bleeding, breathing much easier and even falling into an almost-trance again as she walked behind the Bird. Hop hop hop hop...
Her mind began to wander, and she started to pretend she was on her way to the home of a great and powerful (but benevolent) Jack who could remove her curse and exorcise the creepy thing that tormented her. A dreamy smile slid onto her face, and those bright blue eyes dulled slightly under her hood...
Reality came crashing back down as the smell of food suddenly assaulted her nostrils with a vengeance, and the other Card was standing there with the door open, looking at her expectantly, as if waiting for something. What was he waiting for? A rising panic began to bubble until Myth realized he was waiting for her to enter the building first. Well that was...different.
After she sat down, making sure her cloak was still fully in place, she tried to smile slightly up at Sabe. Now that they were closer, he might be able to see a bit more of her face under the hood...whiskers and a longish muzzle that could still be thought of as Mouse-like, as her ears were still back and out of sight. And her light grey fur would show him the truth of her earlier words about his heritage.
She was about to introduce herself, or say something else in the way of pleasantries, when suddenly a random girl came up to their table and slapped Sabe. Myth's eyes went round as saucers and she squeaked in fear, fully expecting she'd get hurt next! Wasn't this supposed to be some kind of servant? Why did their Master let them get away with such things!
"A-are you okay, Sabe?" she cried, shaking like a leaf even as the other Card walked away (and she hoped she'd never see her again, but Sabe had asked her for something, so maybe she was coming back!)
"M-my name is Mythiril," she said faintly, still feeling rather terrified of the violent girl.

Sabe just nodded as he saw that her color was that of truth. Not to mention that she had some rather beautiful eyes to match that fur. He smiled at her as he didn't think nothing of what the waitress had done, but something was amiss her as he noted that her cloak was moving as if vibrating... he guess that she was shaking for some reason, and when she asked if he was ok, did he just smile large and rub the spot where she had slapped him.
"Oh I'm quite well, it was just a open hand slap..." he said as he cought her name. "What a lovely name you have there to match your beautiful eyes that you have." he said with a smile as the woman came back and nearly slammed the table with two drinks. Both where just spiced tea, though Sabe could have sworn that there was something more in it... oh well... you get what you paid for... and he guessed that he was still paying for it still.
He would use a spoon to remove the spit that happened to be in it before taking a sip... after all they had kissed before, so what was abit more spit now? Nothing really... so he took a sip before talking more.
"So what would you like to eat? My treat so order anything you wish." he said as he leaned over to another table and grabbed a menu for her to chose from, that had both pictures and the words for each plate. This place served all ranks and regions so they knew that not everyone knew how to read, so all the plates had a printed picture with them.
If only he could get a good view of her... that would help a bit.
"You know, its quite hot today and even in this restaurant... why don't you take that heavy cloak off before you sweet yourself to death." he said as he leaned back in the chair some, his rank showing full well on his chest... the large Q with a club symbol next to it. Of only the young rabbit knew that he was a ranked queen in the court of clubs... that would be rather a shocker to the young one.
