Lucius hated this place with a passion. The city with its filthy peasants was bad enough, but this place was something else entirely. Perhaps he'd been using the term peasant too lightly, or perhaps the creatures he found here were more akin to roaches. Lucius truly didn't know why he continued to lower himself to such places... except for the tempting allure of black market items. Despite his avid distaste for it, there was nevertheless useful things here that refused to show themselves in the usual places or even in his beloved home region. He would just have to swallow his pride and stomach the shady streets long enough to get what he wanted and get out. The shop he slipped into at the end of the alley was not one he had been in before, but the owner had used Inno's services and had mentioned the sale of interesting items. Poison compositions among them... His cane clicked sharply against the hard floor as he walked, browsing the shelves with a cynical and disdainful eye. This better not be a waste of his time.

Severus wasn't very keen to be running around the capital either. He was still extremely thin...and still recovering from his poisoning. He hated looking so weak out in public...and it didn't help that his reason for being in such an unattractive part of town had lead to his travelling to Yarrow where he originally fell ill. Restocking was a bitch...but he wasn't about to call that horrible heron for help ever again. That shipping company had lost a very valuble customer in his eyes. And now that he no longer trusted anyone other then himself...he had to go and handpick his ingrediants again. He needed refills for various things that he was using to create a 'wellness concotion'. Tasted like crap...but a couple more treatments and he should be feeling much better soon. Well, as well as someone like Severus COULD feel anyway. He wandered into a shop in the outer bizarre which he had been informed was probably the only place hed be able to find a certain thing in particular by someone on the street. Immidiately his gaze was caught by a rather nicely dressed man, obviously from wealth. He didn't expect anyone of his stature to be here...but then again...He was there wasn't he? He looked away, staring at the jars on the shelves. They weren't in alphabetical order.....GREAT...this was going to take forever...

Lucius looked up when he heard the door open and, with the entrance of another, fall closed once more. The serpent's red gaze flicked to the strange Corvistownien and, despite himself, lingered there long enough to be considered staring.
The scrawny man had the appearance of someone who should be skulking around such filthy places and he was a mixed breed... but he part snake and that was at least saying something even if it wasn't much. What really held his attention, however, was that the man held himself like a man and not the typical pestilent roaches that scurried through the Outer Bazaar.
Well, the easiest way to tell was just to test his Pain ability on him. If he was lower than Jack, he wasn't worth Lucius's time anyway.
Turning back to what he was doing, though not so much that he would not be able to keep tabs on the serpent-spliced buck, Lucius activated his pain ability on the black-clad and disgustingly greasy Corvie.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, he can inflict mental pain on another card of any suit, once per day. The degree of pain is equivalent to that of a thick needle being slowly sunk through you left eye. Cards Eight and below will fully succumb to this pain and probably pass out. Nines, Tens, and Jacks will have severe concentration issues. Other Kings and Queens easily ignore it

Eye of Newt, Swiftthistle, Duck Bills...
He hated to see such a fine collection so completely out of order. His foot tapped a bit in disapproval, making a small clicking noise as his hoof touched the hard floor. This was no way to run a shop!
One of the containers was even turned the wrong way...now his OCD was getting the better of him. He pulled our the jar who's label wasn't facing forward and looked at the scrawled words on the white label, Mud from the Bog...oh big Whoop....like that was anything to brag about. He sighed a bit before putting it back.
Nothing...absolutely nothing. Oh well...how was he expecting to just walk in and expect to find blood? Maybe it was in the back. Severus quickly walked up to the front desk and rang a bell located on it to call for an employee. It was while he was waiting that he became aware of a slight irritation in his eye. Damn...he was falling part like a two dollar suit now wasn't he? Luckily it didn't hurt that bad. He blinked a bit to get moisture to come to the eye, before turning his head to look at the shelves again...maybe he better pick up something for his eye to...just incase it got worse.
After giving the shelves a once over, he couldn't help but let his gaze fall on that of the human sharing the same storespace with him....it seemed weird to say nothing...but then again...what would he say? He tapped the bell again...impaitence brewing...

Lucius, more interested in the stranger than the disappointing quality of merchandise sold in the store, nevertheless forced himself to move around and pretend to be interested as he awaited some sort of reaction from the man.
And nothing happened.
Anything less than a 9 would have had far more of a reaction than that, and even a Jack would have at least appeared to have a migraine or something of the sort. Nothing.
King then, or even Queen. Not at all what he had expected to encounter in such a place, let alone adorned in such garish clothing. Did he have no pride in his nobility? The man lofted a brow and, after a long enough time listening to the bell ring, he made his way over to the Corvistownien's side.
"With the way things are run in this place, I wouldn't be surprised if he was snorting Checkmate in the back." It didn't help that Lucius knew the owner well enough to assume that with a certain degree of accuracy.
On a second look, Lucius almost hoped he hadn't said something that might come back to him... There was a strong possibility that this scrawny biped might be looking for just that. Hopefully that was not the case. "If you're looking for something of quality in this dump, I am afraid you've been as mislead as I myself have."

"I wouldn't be surprised, that is the calibur of people who work here...who you would find in a place such as this." he said begrudgingly turning his head to look at the man before him. It was not uncommon to see humans in the palace...but this man's skin was so pale...he might as well have been a corpse. A hand wiped down the front of his vest, smoothing it out before he spoke again, "So it would seem...they don't even attempt to put these jars in alphabetical order..." he sighed a bit as he looked at the utter disareay with complete disgust.
"Oh well...it seems my trip was less fruitful then I had hoped. Good day." he said after a moment of silence, dipping his head down slightly before turning to exit the building. Normally he wouldn't have put to much effort into be cordial with a complete stranger, but having a human form spoke volumes, and the way he dressed surely showed Noblity even if his chest wasn't bared for the world to see. His cape swished behind him as he exited outside the building, looking around at the few people who were wandering around the street before looking at the large signs overhanging some of the other shops. He was determinded to find the ingrediant he needed....no matter how controvertial it might be.

Lucius hadn't noticed the lack of alphabetizing so much as he had noticed that the man had utterly lied about having anything of quality to behold. The King truly hated wasting his time with things that had not been worth his time to begin with.
Surprisingly, the Corvistownien actually seemed to be the prompt sort that knew what he wanted and went to get it. As soon as he had received his information, he was on his way. "Good day." He inclined his head a little, watching the mixed breed step out of the shop just in time to hear the shop keep finally stirring in the back of the store, hurrying to greet the customers he'd failed to acknowledge earlier.
Lucius didn't bother waiting to speak to him.
He followed the greasy-haired noble out of the shop into the street. "Seeing as we both found ourselves in the same dead end, perhaps we are looking for similar items?" Lucius didn't look at Severus directly when he spoke, but glare scornfully at the filthy alley.

It was only a moment or two after exiting the building, he had found the man had followed him out. He turned to look at the man a bit before looking down the street and not giving much eye contact. "Perhaps. We might just both be looking for things of a questionible nature...that is why anyone such as us would step into such a place...wouldn't it?" to say the deer was standoffish would be putting it lightly, but at least he wasn't being condecending...for once.
He was attempting to make friends...he reminded himself. He needed to have people around him that wouldnt let such a thing happen to him again...and the only way to do that was to be...nice. Not that he trusted anyone enough to waste his time being nice...Something he needed to work on he supposed.
He looked back at the man, his eyes narrowed slightly, "What is it that you are seeking? It might be in our best interests to look together..." After all he really did need that blood....

Lucius, for all that he detested lowering himself to speak with lower class citizen's or -- worse yet -- regions outside of Tulgey, he was nevertheless well versed in doing so with a degree of class and suave. This greasy Corvie made it quite evident that the same standards were not used in his birth region.
Pity.
Despite the fact that communicating was an obvious struggle for him, he at least appeared to be trying. "An astute deduction." Lucius retorted with the hint of a condescending sneer briefly tugging at his lips. "I would say, before we begin exchanging such details, that it would be good to know each others names?" The sneer was gone and was instead replaced with a faintly lofted brow as Lucius turned to face Severus at last.
Curiosity -- and the determination not to let his day be put to waste so early one -- had driven him out to speak with this unhealthy looking stranger, but he wasn't about to trust him without good reason. He had best the fascinating subject that his failed spell suggested he might be.

Severus' nostril flaired ever so slightly before he turned his head to look away. He was afraid he would ask for that first. And honestly he knew he would ask. It was proper. Well...he would just have to give it to him. That was the first step in trusting anyway...which he sorely needed back. "Severus." he said almost under his breath...he didn't have to give him his last name did he? God he hated his last name...it was the worst. He really needed to make up a new one or something...
Then it struck him.
"Severus Snape." he said a little more confidently before looking at the man again. Yes. That suited him much better. "And you?" he asked shortly, before indicating for the human to follow him. He wanted to walk down the street to a shop he had seen out of the corner of his eye. It might be more fruitful there...
