"Let's terrorize some Cards." She said with a smile before polishing off her sandwich in a very unlady like way. "I know there's a place around here that they pop up every once in a while, so why not give them something to freak out about?"
The smile on her face turned to wicked grin.
She had never had a chance to interact with cards. She was a Doe after all, and she was never going to get the chance. But all the stories seemed.... silly and backwards. There had to be more to Cards than the weird stories. She was curious to find out what was true and what wasn't true.
So she wanted to instigate a few things. Why not? It was probably an extremely stupid idea. No, there was no doubt in her mind that it was a stupid idea, but she was going to throw caution to the wind... assuming her brother was willing to play along.

Shelby's eyes widened and it was a good thing he'd already finished his own sandwich or he surely would have choked on it. He certainly had never expected his sister to suggest something that insane! That was far different from swimming or picking berries or sneaking out after dark to watch the stars near the lake...That could seriously get them killed, even if they were careful! Cards were stupid, but they had dangerous magic and, from what he'd heard, would as soon kill a Rabbit and then forget about it and go on with their lives as actually admit things existed they didn't know about.
Still...the two of them would be together...and he had faith in his own ability to run fast and far away from any danger. But what about his sister? He didn't want to leave her to the mercy of the Cards, either, and if he went to get help they'd get in such serious trouble he shuddered to think. "Well, uh..." Shelby pulled on his ears, considering.
He let out a breath and stood up, finally nodding at his sister decisively. "All right! Why not. Lead the way, Sis." Why did he have the sinking feeling he was very much going to regret this?...

Fleur grinned like a maniac at her brother. "Awesome, we so won't regret this!" She had confidence that she would be able to outsmart anything that came at her. She had a powerful set of back legs even if she wasn't meant to fight. Hopefully if they ran into a Card they wouldn't be too over powered. The element of surprise and all that. The rabbit wandered in the general direction of the path that she had heard everyone mention every so often. It was a well traveled place for cards, and they were told to stay far far away from it. Well, she was. Her brother could get away with things being smaller than her and if he dressed up. The rabbit hopped to the edge of the path, staying hidden in the bushes. Viola was completely oblivious to what was happening as she wandered down the path. She had no place to really be, so she was taking her time. Humming to herself she slowly slithered on the dirt path, a basket of flowers balanced on her head and a pack hanging on her antlers.

Sure enough, as soon as he recognized where they were headed, in the direction they had been expressly forbidden in no uncertain terms from ever going except in an emergency, Shelby already started to regret agreeing to this hare-brained (ha!) scheme. He's sure to be extra stealthy as they move closer to the path, hopping as quietly as he can and trying to avoid stepping on any dry branches.
....despite the fact that the birds in the trees above them are being noisy enough that he could probably sing at the top of his lungs and still not be heard. Not that he'd subject anyone to his attempt at singing. He peeked out of the bush beside Fleur, and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head as he saw...was that a Card? What in the world WAS it? It had no arms or legs...ohhhh. It was a snake. Like the little brown ones in the garden, but much bigger. And with antlers and furry ears. "I didn't know Cards could be snakes," he whispered, eyes glued on the strange, unwitting would-be victim of their prank.

"Neither did I," she whispered. "Though I didn't think snakes had ears or antlers."
The Card was fascinating. And rather strange. Was it part Avington? It looked like it was a Highlander. Maybe a mix? She peered from the bushes a little further. Well, she was taking her sweet time. Snakes were terribly slow it seemed....
"Should we jump out when she comes closer? In front of behind her?" She whispered to her brother as she wiggled a bit with excitement. Whoever this Card was they were going to get the surprise of their life. It didn't look like they could retaliate either.
Viola paused when she thought she heard something. Her ears flicking forward as she looked around. "Hello...?" she said as she looked around for someone. "Is... anyone out there?"
Her tail flicked in agitation. What if someone tried to mug her? Of course it wasn't like she ever carried that much money with her. She was an easy target. It was just if they decided to do anything other than mug her she'd be in trouble.

Shelby frowned. That was true, of course. "The antlers are because she's an Avington, like Dad. Or...partly. The ears...I dunno. Maybe Card snakes do have ears." His tail wiggled as he continued to watch the Card. He was actually starting to get a bit excited about this. Sure, he was just a Leveret, but this Card probably didn't even know what a Leveret -was-! They could scare her good, and then get back to the Warren before anyone was the wiser!
"Behind her, on the count of three," Shelby whispered, tensing, feeling his back legs coiling to spring. "One..." He crouched, ears twitching as he heard the Card speaking. They could time this perfectly and give her the scare of her life! "Two..." She was looking around, now...and so he waited until she was facing forward...
"Three!" At the final whispered number, he leapt out behind the Snake, expecting his sister to do the same, and grinned like a little devil, trying not to let on how nervous he suddenly felt.

Snakes with ears? For some reason that just seemed really off. Though the antlers would be explained if she were part Avington. She didn't seem like much of one. No point in dwelling on it.
When her brother started counting she crouched and got ready to spring forward.
Viola was worried. Her ears were swiveling as she listened to something. Rustling here, rustling there, birds. Nothing dangerous seemed to be around....
At the count of three Fleur sprang forward in a flurry of fluff and feathering. She came out in front of the serpent, far closer than she really expected to be.
Viola looked forward when she heard the sounds of bushes rustling. Her eyes focused on the forms that were now in front of her. Long ears. Fluffy. Weird sizes. Her eyes ultimately rested on the chest of the two creatures that were now in front of her.
And she screamed bloody murder.

When he first jumped out, Shelby was purposefully grinning like a maniac, and his long, unmistakable ears were held up above his head for maximum impact. Still, there were several long moments where the Card didn't seem to know what to make of them, and despite the expression on her face making him want to giggle gleefully, he stood perfectly still, smiling that maniac smile.
At the scream, though, his smile vanished and his ears flattened back to his head, crouching low, ready to flee and hide if anyone hears the scream and comes running! He looked at his sister, there in front of him, far closer to the alien Card than he. This was her idea...did she have plans what to do now that they'd successfully scared the living daylights out of someone? This had been such a spontaneous venture on his own part (and, he feared, hers) that maybe there was no plan. But at least they could still retreat back to the lake near the Warren. There was always that fall back, he reminded himself, trying to keep calm in the face of the awful noise.

Fleur didn't expect the snake to scream bloody murder like she did. Her ears pressed against her skull as the snake seemed to try to back away.
The rabbit did something else that was spontaneous. Suddenly she went up to the screaming snake and licked her nose. It was a disgusting thing to do, and really she didn't want to. Who knew where the strange thing had been. But she hoped that it would stop screaming this way. Though of course it could always make things worse.
Viola was utterly terrified that monsters were standing in front of her. Monsters that may or may not have been legendary creatures that she heard about in story books. She was not okay with this. So when one licked her she was at a complete and utter loss of what to do.
So she passed out from the anxiety and fluttering panic.
Fleur blinked as the creature slumped forward, narrowly escaping being hit by the dead weight. "Whoops."

What...what in the world was Fleur DOING? Shelby could only stare in wide-eyed horror as his sister approached the strange Card and licked her. -Licked- her. That couldn't have tasted very good, he thought, wrinkling his nose. But he actually jumped as the Snake dropped over. Was she dead? Did Fleur have a poisonous saliva to Cards? Were they going to get set upon by an angry Card Warren, or whatever Cards had instead?
Shelby hopped slowly closer to the prone form, thoughts getting crazier by the minute until he still saw her breathing. Okay, then the Snake had just passed out from shock. He could relate to that. "Well, we certainly did scare her," he said, looking at his sister. He looked back at the motionless form of the Card. A mischievous grin came over him, and he darted quickly forward and touched the side of the Snake! Ha! He'd just touched a Card! His tail wiggled in glee, even though it had been only the briefest of touches, not even long enough to feel the smooth reptilian scales very well.
But...he turned to look at his sister. "...now what? I guess we could just...leave and go back before someone else comes along..." He glanced warily down the path on either side.
