For once Mephit had left her catacombs of dungeons for something other than paperwork (or the occasional sun basking). In fact, even more askew from the norm, she was looking for someone. She'd heard rumors here and there that Pale and Xiven had picked up a third wheel. Of course, nothing one hears from the kitchen staff could ever be taken to heart. Right? Still, Pale and Xiven had seemed distracted lately so perhaps there was some sort of new addition to the Palace that she hadn't been filled in on entirely. Usually Mephit was not a snoop, but she considered herself close enough to Pale and Xiven to have heard for herself before now that there was another person in bed with them both. If push came to shove, she'd ask Pale when he next came to 'play', but first she'd talk to Xiven herself. It was only right that the Queen know what the staff was muttering about her. (This is probably fail >_> I apologize, far too many distractions [hug])

Conway had figured out how to pick the lock on his door fairly early in the game. All it really took was a sewing needle and some good luck, which for once he seemed to have. Well. Not really. He was still wearing the damn collar. Conway would have growled if it weren't for the pain that he would have suffered for such an action. Why couldn't they just leave the damn thing off? It wasn't like he could run away at this point. And who the hell was going to believe him of all people? So he took to wandering the hallways. Few people had passed him, and the ones who did hurried along. He was alone for quite sometime before he heard hooves on the marble floors. He froze when the person came around the corner. They were a lot more intimidating than any of the servants, and his eyes went down to her chest. Shit. She must have been one of Xiven's Kings, he had heard a brief mention of her when listening to the Queen's angry rantings. What was he supposed to do at a time like this besides looking panicked?

Just as Mephit was rounding the corner to the hall that lead to Xiven's room she found herself face to face with Mr. Rumors. What perfect timing she had. Slowly the deer's muzzle quirked into an odd smirk as her burning orange eyes narrowed slightly. Instantly the thoughts came, worry and enough vague recognition that Mephit was certain he'd heard just enough to not actually know who she was.
Her eyes moved slowly over him, taking in every detail of the ragged-looking human. Pale skin, dark eyes, sandy hair, and some nasty, but intriguing, scars. Lastly her eyes fell upon his collar and, for a moment, her brow arched slightly. Not exactly someone she'd picture Xiven taking an interest in, and here she'd thought Pale had some special bang that drove the usually woman-oriented Xiven to the other team. With the look of this guy, perhaps not. Then again, it was never wise to believe everything you heard. Rumors were just rumors, Mephit wanted real proof.
"So, you must be the one everyone's talking about?" The doe's voice was a dark hiss and her cold smile did nothing to ease that chill.

Of course there were rumors.
Conway would have growled if it weren't for the collar. And he couldn't even give the woman a real verbal reply. He had just found his voice recently and it was taken away by that psychotic Queen and her monster of a King.
The man's eyes narrowed as he took a small step backwards. He could just walk away, but she was a King of Hearts. He didn't want to... tread on thin ice. He was sure he'd receive some sort of punishment from someone for stepping out of line. So he used his ability.
"Rumors? I didn't think that they had gotten that bad yet." She would hear a whispering voice from behind her. "Are they talking about how loud I made the Queen of Hearts scream?"
He gave her a bright smirk as he raised his hand in greeting.
Amazing Ability: He still cannot communicate verbally with more than one person at a time...but he has opened a floodgate of telepathic abilities within his mind. He can now communicate with up to five people at once, one verbally and the other four mentally. His mental communication and verbal can all go on at exactly the same time, his mind now moves fast enough to be able to distinguish all of the different lines of communication easily. His telepathy can reach people up to one hundred miles away...and he doesn't have to know the person to communicate with them, merely to think of their face and he will open the link should he so desire. He can do this as often as he wants and it will sound to the other person as though his voice is whispering to them from about a foot behind them.
This power also grants him the ability to be able to see what one of the people he is communicating with is physically doing once per week. Should he activate this power, however, he will be blind to whatever currently surrounds him until he drops that link of communication.

For a split second Conway's ability broke through Mephit's usual mask of emotionless as the sudden voice behind her caused Mephit's eyes to flash with paranoia. Without thinking she jerked to the side and found that no one was standing beside her, nor had Conway moved. ...Magic then?
She glanced half over her shoulder once more. Ventriloquism? Harmless, Mephit hoped.
Taking a short breath Mephit recomposed herself and smiled back. It was not a pleasant smile. In fact, it was probably closer to a grimace though Mephit did not intend for it to come off as such.
"In fact, they are. I thought Apocalypse was the only boy she fucked." Mephit's orange eyes scoured Conway once more, studying his sandy colored and that odd array of scars accompanied by his collar. He looked more like a pet than a third wheel. "How did you two hook up?" Mephit honestly did not want to have to mince her words right now and, if she judged right, he seemed like he might be the same way. He'd come off as blunt enough so far, Mephit would just how to see how much stamina he had for it.

She seemed to have emotions beyond those terrifying eyes and fangs. Why did a deer have fangs? Conway kept in eye on her the entire time, however. He wasn't entirely sure when this would come back and kick him in the ass.
Though he was surprised by her response. His smirk grew wider. Perhaps that was why he pissed off the King so badly? He wasn't special anymore. Oh that made Conway want to laugh. It was a shame that this damn collar prevent him from just about everything besides breathing.
"We actually originally met because of her mother," He rolled his eyes. "And then Mr. Apocalypse and I got into a fight. After that her mother decided to cast a little spell on her and me to teach her some sort of lesson. I'm not particularly sure what that lesson was but the sex was good. And really if her boyfriend hadn't exploded I probably would be fucking her on a regular basis considering how much she enjoyed it."
He slipped both his hands in his pockets out of habit. "I haven't actually heard all of the rumors. Just the weird one about me being some sort of secret lover."

Mephit smirked at Conway's thoughts, baring her fangs a little for his admiration. Although she would never say it out loud, a piece of her truly enjoyed the attention those fangs got her. Maybe if his curiosity remained she'd tell him, after all his next tidbit was juicy enough to earn him a simple glimpse into her biological background.
"You're refreshingly to the point, but I'm afraid that rumor is all I've heard myself. It's a rare occasion that I venture away from my work to bother with the mindless dribbling of the staff... these, however, seems a bit more rooted in fact - worthy enough to warrant my attention." Mephit's gaze wandered down the man's bone bracelet, eyeing it briefly before returning to his face.
Satisfied with his answer, she let herself focus on other things - who the hell was he and how had he come to be a semi-secret addition to the Court?
"How is it you know Peaches?" Some sort of Spy, perhaps? He didn't drop a shadow from the looks of it and he either couldn't, or wasn't willing, to speak... both seemed useful for sneaking.

Oh well. It wasn't like they were all that important. For the most part people didn't know he actually existed. They only saw him in brief passing, and really he could have been someone else entirely.
His eyes darted from the woman's fangs to follow her gaze. His bracelet. hands clenched in his pockets as his eyes darted back to the woman's face. It was an upsetting thing to think about. The connection to his spine had been severed because of that stupid bastard and now there was the stupid numb spot along his exposed spine.
How did he know Peaches the crazy lady? "I ran into her on the street and she decided to bother me in her crazy lady fashion. I figured she was harmless since she bought me a drink and all. So much for that."
He rolled his eyes.
All the while he was unintentionally fiddling with his bracelet. He still seemed to do it out of habit despite everything. When he finally did realize he was still playing with his bracelet he slipped his hands deeper into his pockets.
"I can't imagine anyone is harmless here." She looked rather dangerous herself. Beyond the fangs, the way she carried herself and just about everything about her screamed danger. Was she worse than Apocalypse? Or was she as weird as the Queen?

What was that now? He seemed a little tender about his bracelet, odd little piece of bone it was, and the moment he realized she was looking at it he stuffed his hands deeper into his pocket. Shame? Fear? Maybe something else, Mephit would've had to take some time to 'get to know him' before she could really say.
He fidgeted the whole time he spoke, almost distracting Mephit from his real words. Nothing interesting, at least nothing more interesting than his little trinket.
"Harmless," Mephit started as she listened to his thoughts turn over... Worse than Apocalypse or as weird as The Queen? Intriguing way to put it, maybe she was a little of both. "It really depends on your definition of Harmless." The thought of Apocalypse laid on torture table and mewling with pain surfaced and she almost smiled. Instead she let her orange gaze turn even icier.
"So, I'm afraid this leaves me with many questions still desired... Who are you exactly, and why are you here to be shagging Her Majesty in the first place?"

Everyone had questions.
But not everyone would get the answers. Especially not from Conway. The Joker's lips twitched into a tight, slight, smile. He couldn't tell this woman the truth of the matter without getting hurt, he was sure of that. After all if the Queen found out he would probably be punished.
Of course even if he told the truth he doubted that the deer would believe him. His story really was mythical, and he wasn't supposed to exist after all.
"I don't see why I should answer your questions. I mean. You haven't even properly introduced yourself, and I don't think Her Majesty would like it if I told a complete stranger my mission." His tiny smile vanished, "And I don't want to give her King an excuse to punish me. I've had enough of that lately from that possessive bastard. I'm sure you know that already though, from the rumors."
