Sure enough, there was the look from Conall that meant the other boy was upset. Arkady expected himself to feel really guilty over it, but as Castiel continued to smile brightly at him and babbled something about sandwiches that the Coyote nodded to, he actually found himself feeling a bit cheerful. Why should he let Conall's moods affect him, after all? It wasn't his fault that Cas liked sharing food with her friend that it was actually possible with.
Arkady smiled and sat next to her at the table, though he blushed a bit when he accidentally brushed up against her when sitting. Weirdly enough, the pup had forgotten all about the shopkeeper and her weird looks by then, well, until he saw her reading the instructions for the medicine. He blinked, and wondered what to say, in the end just leaning over as if curious to see what they said, too.
"Come on, let's just eat first," he said, tail wagging hopefully. He leaned over to take a small sip of the soup, and then saw Conall coming back and gave him a small smile. But when he smelled the strong, spicy scent that clung to the other boy's meal, he nearly sneezed. It was a bit much for his sensitive canine nose. That was going to kill Conall's sense of taste for the day entirely, he was sure.

Castiel really wanted to get the medicine stuff out of the way, but she was hungry... with a bit of a reluctant expression she packed up the medicine. "All right, food first," she said cheerfully. She scooted a bit closer to the canine so they could split the meal without too much of a mess.
When Conall arrived at the table she wrinkled her nose a bit. Even she could smell the spice coming off of the food that he had ordered. He normally didn't like spicy food did he? The girl eyed his odd sandwich, "Are you sure you want to eat something like that?"
Conall took a seat, half expecting to be ignored, so when he was actually addressed by Castiel he looked more than a little surprised. Arkady didn't look particularly thrilled about his choice in food either. "Ah.. yeah. It might help me be able to breath, since I'm not too sure about what that Corvie gave us. Even if it helps a little it was worth a shot.... right?"
Castiel blinked. Oh, well then. "Okay, just be careful." The girl took a big bite of her sandwich, roast beef really did always taste fantastic.
Conall gave his food a reluctant look before taking a bite out of it. His eyes watered a bit.

Ark breathed an inner sigh of relief when Castiel agreed to eat first. At least that gave him a bit more time to think about how he could maybe warn her about that Corvie without...without dampening her spirits or frightening her. But she shouldn't be frightened. After all, she had him to take care of her. And a lot of good that did her in the Wood, huh? Arkady loftily ignored the doubting mental voice and sipped the soup, feeling his breath catch slightly when Cas leaned closer.
Well, at least Conall had a good reason for eating something that spicy. Still, his eyes were watering a bit just from smelling it! He smiled at Castiel as she started to eat, and then he timidly went to take a bite of the sandwich as well. Oh, that was good! She always knew what to order. He peeked at Conall and found he wasn't enjoying his meal quite as well. With a paw, he pushed the water pitcher closer to the other boy. He was grateful Conall had expressed his doubts with the medicine, as it would make the topic easier to broach again when Castiel went to take hers.

Conall struggled to actually finish his meal without drinking too much water. He didn't want to have to make nine million stops on the way home for a bathroom break. He did give Arkady an appreciative look when he pushed the water towards him, though.
At least he could breath now, even if his eyes were watering quite a bit. He finished his spicy meal with a few chips that helped the burning that his tongue was going through. Ugh, did he have any taste buds left?
Castiel happily demolished her food in record time, getting quite a bit of enjoyment out of the fact that Arkady seemed to like her choice in meals. Well, she was good at a few things when she was capable of focusing, right? Once she had completely finished, water and all, she went back to examining the medicine. Though really, Conall seemed to have accomplished his major goal with all of that spicy food.
And she wasn't in too much pain at the moment. The carriage ride was probably going to make her back sore though.

Arkady ate slowly, just taking a bit here and there of the soup and the sandwich. But he was more than happy to let Castiel have the lion's share of their meal. Really, he was just glad for the excuse to be close to her. At one point when they both reached for the sandwich at the same time, Ark was close enough to smell her breath, and he felt like he could barely breathe himself. Of course, the moment passed quickly and Cas didn't seem to have even noticed anything off, but that was one of things that was so sweet about her. She was so oblivious to the effect she had on others.
Of course, all too soon the meal was over and that Hills-be-damned medicine came back out. Arkady felt his ears press back against his head and he opened and closed his mouth several times before he finally managed words. "Cas...you know, Conall and I noticed that the woman who sold us the medicine was...was acting a bit suspiciously." He shot a pleading glance to Conall, hoping the other boy would back him up and find the words that Ark's mind always floundered for.

"She was?" Castiel said with honest confusion mixed with a bit of concern. "Do you think it's not okay to take the medicine?" It was quite obvious that they were out of town, and the Corvie mix could have easily taken advantage of them. However would she actually tamper with the stuff she gave them? And what was the worst she could do?
Well. There was poison. The girl frowned at the bag. Why did she have to be a Diamond at a time like this?
Conall nodded in agreement with Arkady's statement. Castiel actually seemed to pick up on the concern rather quickly, with the look on her face. "It might be better not to take them. She's a Corvie, there's plenty of awful things she could slip in there. And we did mention in front of her that we were going to be sticking around for lunch."
The girl looked extremely disappointed. "Okay, fine. I'll just throw this stuff away then."

Arkady frowned, feeling his heart sinking at the look on Cas's face. But it was far better that she be disappointed than that she suffer any ill side effects from the medicine, right? He shrugged, playing with a napkin with his paw. "Better safe than sorry, right?" he asked, eyes pleading as he finally looked up. He smiled hopefully as Conall backed him up, just as Ark had been hoping for. But then...the thought of wasting that money, even if they were Court kids, wasn't very uplifting.
"Wait." He glanced at Conall. "Do you have one of those Hearts abilities? Where you can detect poison or resist it? Maybe we could test it..." His tail wagged a bit anxiously. He always felt nervous when coming up with ideas for things, and this case was no exception. In fact, it was even worse because he might end up looking like a fool in front of Castiel, and that was the last thing he wanted.

Conall was a little surprised that the subject of poison immunity was brought up. He ran his fingers through his mane, "Yes, I have poison immunity. I won't be able to tell if it's been poisoned by something that has no taste though. And I imagine a pharmacist would be careful about what poisons they would use."
He gave a small shrug. "I can try the medication if you want, but I still wouldn't trust it."
Castiel was briefly hopeful when Arkady voiced his idea. And then Conall explained how things worked, and her bubble was once again popped. She sighed and shook her head. "Really it's fine. I can throw it out. Do you want to try yours at least, Conall or is your mission accomplished?"
Conall paused for a moment, glancing at the bag. "Ah, well I suppose I can... the spicy food did help but I don't know how much longer it will last." He took the bag carefully and took out the medicine that was meant for him. After a few moments of reading the directions he popped the pills.
"Maybe we should wait a bit before heading out..." Castiel said as she watched Conall before turning to Arkady.

Arkady frowned a bit at Conall's answer. An at the disappointment in Castiel's voice...he just wanted to droop. Even though he knew he was honestly trying to help, it still made him feel rather low. Now she would have to deal with pain all the way back to the palace. He fought to keep down a whimper. No. He had to be strong for her. He watched nervously as Conall popped the pills, still worrying despite the fact that he knew the Heart would most likely be fine, even if there were some sort of poison.
Of course, ever since the experience with the weird pills he and his sister had found in the late Bernard's office, he was never very comfortable with pills int he first place, let alone ones that had come from a suspicious source. His ears laid flat and he swallowed a bit. "If you want to," he said meekly to Cas, and tried a small smile. At least she didn't seem mad. Of course, would the pharmacy owner be hanging around at all, wanting to see if whatever she'd put in the pills worked? Ark sure hoped not. Little prickled ran down his spine at the very thought of it.

Conall shrugged. "That sounds fine," he said as he quietly as he decided to take another sip of his water. The pills didn't seem to have any effect on him in any strange way. They were actually legitimate medicine.
The apothecary, however, was hanging around to spy on the strange set of children. When Castiel looked out the window she caught a small glimpse of the woman, and did her best not to let her concern show when she turned back to Arkady.
"Thanks, I just want to let my food settle before we get back in the carriage, and just in case Conall feels sick after taking the pills we should... you know, not be moving." She gave a little shrug as she played with with the empty bottle. "Sorry I dragged the two of your to Tulgey... next time I'll plan before I decide on a random adventure."
Conall shrugged. "It's fine Castiel. I mean we're all safe now. I mean... we all got to do something different than we normally do."
