Not only was she pretty, she was a lover of the martial arts. Part of him couldn't help but flutter with excitement. He had met several people who had appreciated the art behind swordsmanship, but in all honesty he had met none who were women. This just made things... better. There was a tiny inkling of hope that maybe there were others out there who could appreciate what he did.
"Oh yes, even on the boring days there was always excitement. I was and still am rarely ever idle. Well, besides my little forced vacations," He gave a small shrug. He certainly didn't mind her talking. She was polite about it, which people rarely seemed to be.
So she had been to the Mid-Range to visit family and she had gone to the Glacier. At least the shock wasn't as bad as his. He gave her a curious look. She did have quite a bit of gray and silver about her. "I can't help but wonder... are you part Mid-Ranger?"

That was a question she'd been expecting with carefully veiled distaste. Everyone asked, it was even a bit of a sore spot among her father's side of the family. Many of them felt she should have gotten the cut anyway. At least her father, in all of his disappointment, had not been that bad.
"My father is a Mid-Ranger, but I'm pure Sorgaire." She laughed a little and shook her head, silvery mane falling over her eyes for a minute. "He was always pretty disappointed about it. I've just got more grey than most Sorgaire's." The lioness rolled her shoulders in a little half-hearted shrug. "I got his species though, that should be more than enough for my old man."
Apparently it wasn't, and that was fine with her... right?
Liliana forced herself to smile and to push the bitterness back like she always did. "But, I've got to say, it's nice to be in the company of a Mid-Ranger. It may not be a piece of Sorgaire," she was holding that in a simple little silk pouch in her traveling bag, "but it's still more like being at home than I would've felt with most of the Cards out here."

"He shouldn't be disappointed," Ichigo said with a small shrug. His father had always been disappointed that he hadn't been a tiny mouse. The feeling of parental disappointment over just being yourself was something no one deserved. "It just means you're more unique to your region. And I think being different is better than being what's expected of you."
The mouse gave a small sigh, "I'm sorry if I touched on a sensitive subject. Parents' approval is a tricky thing."
Hopefully no harm was done. "And I'm glad that I could be helpful. I suppose there aren't that many from our region because they would much rather keep to themselves. I can honestly say I haven't seen another Mid-Ranger in a year."
Was he ranting? He couldn't particularly tell at this point. He just hoped she'd let him know.

Liliana was quiet for a moment but her smile only grew. Ichigo was kind and she liked his outlook on things. It was better to be unique than to be what was expected of her... She could definitely see eye to eye with that.
"No, no... No need to apologize, I liked what you said... It was good, I suppose I needed to hear that too." The lioness laughed a little and tilted her head to peer back a the Mid-Ranger. "You're a real nice guy, and you've got a good head on your shoulders."
As they went on Liliana bobbed her head in agreement, unaware of his ranting... She enjoyed conversation, it kept the mind pleasantly active. "That makes plenty of sense to me, Dad only left because of Mom and even then he goes back frequently, and me... I'm the odd one out as usual," Liliana laughed, "I'm here to start a new life, to be my own person. Free of both of them." No matter how much she loved her family, she still wanted that freedom.

He blushed, "Why thank you Liliana. I very much appreciate your compliment." It wasn't every day someone said that to him. Actually it wasn't often at all. He filed that away for his "to be cheerful about" later file. He did have to focus on the conversation and where they were going. Being cheery over the compliment could come after the responsibility.
"Starting anew is sometimes the best thing to do. I suppose that's why I took a job at the Court of Spades. Starting there to make a name for myself, even if I'm not where I want to be where I am now... we need to turn left here." He motioned his head in the direction. It would only be a little longer before they would pass the empty tea house. If only it was still around... well he would have to find a better way to quell his homesickness.

Liliana padded easily along beside Ichigo, taking in the scenery as she listened to him speak. This was turning out to be a pleasant day and she had Ichigo to thank for rescuing the day from going too afoul.
"I'm looking forward to it, really... Already there's so much to see and do. I'd like to find some sort of job in the near future, though I'm not sure what a little out of town girl would be good at yet." The Lioness grinned a little. She wasn't little or helpless or anything of the sort, but she was definitely still getting used to the way things worked. "I'm afraid most of my formal training is in weaponry and tactics, thanks to my father, or delicate things like tea ceremonies and some rudimentary sewing from my mother... Not that I dislike any of these things, they all have their place, but I always wanted something different for myself. Something more modern or unique, a little less structured."
As they passed the old tea hut, Lili frowned briefly. That was a pity. Hopefully there would be a cafe or the like nearby that she could get her tea fix from?

"There is quite a bit to do in the city, but don't sell your skills short. You never know when they can help you get a proper job." There were quite a few uses for some of those talents. And if the tea house was still open they would probably be more than willing to hire her.
It really was a shame they went out of business, but there were plenty of places in the capital to fill the gap to some degree. He was fairly certain that there was a cafe that put them out of business after all.
"After the left you'll need to take a right turn," he voiced as he struggled to keep up with her pace. This stupid arm... why had he picked up that stupid piece of jewelery? Why couldn't he have just left it alone. "I apologize for slowing the pace," he said after a few moments. "My shoulder is killing me."

Liliana bobbed her head as he spoke. "Of course, of course." She knew her talents were useful ones, her parents had made certain that they were, but a youthful desire for adventure pestered her to take a leap, to try something new. Of, course, she also had no clue what lay ahead. She was eager to make headway whatever the case. "There are just a lot of careers to choose from."
As Ichigo's struggling voice caught her attention, Lili slowed down a few paces and tried to better match the mouse. What a nasty ... curse? It definitely didn't look too comfortable...
"Please don't injure yourself for my sake, I can take all the time in the world." The lioness smiled apologetically. "If we get to a nice cafe along the way, perhaps we should rest? We can grab a bite, or a drink too... It's the least I can do for you showing me around like this."

Ichigo could feel a blush forming. Once upon a time he had no trouble keeping up with anyone, now thanks to this stupid curse he seemed to be constantly lagging behind. Would this ever get any better or would he be stuck miserable for the rest of his life.
"Thank you, and yes... there's a little cafe along the way... you need to take a left turn at the end of this street. Then it will be a straight run for a while. We'll pass the cafe then." He still felt embarrassed despite his cheerful tone of voice. As long as he didn't bleed everything would be fine.
Now that they were going slower he felt a tiny bit better. His shoulder was still killing him, that wasn't about to go away anytime soon even if her took a long rest. This was the most walking he had done in ages.

Liliana couldn't resist the little lion grin that stretched across her maw at the sight of the mouse's blushing. It was actually rather cute. Hopefully, though, Liliana wasn't embarrassing him too much. She knew how Mid-Rangers were about that...
"That sounds wonderful." And convenient. It'd be nice to have a little cafe just across the way from her new apartment considering how directionally challenged she was in this big city.
As they walked, slower now, Lili couldn't help but study his arm a little. Poor guy... what a challenge to overcome. "I hope I'm not being forward or anything, but does it hurt? Other than having to lug it around when you walk?" Surely it'd be better on him when he got his biped - and she was certain he would, he seemed the ambitious type - but until then he must have to struggle with so much.
