"Yes! I would very much like one!" She said with a bright note in her voice. Despite everything being terrifying, the idea of having something cute and fuzzy like that made her feel a bit better about the entire ordeal. Of course she would have to wait for these "strange" happenings to be over with.
As she looked through the drawer she felt the crow touch her, her feathers ruffled slightly out of surprise. What was he...? She gave him a bewildered look when he answered his statement. Well uh... at least they were going to find Zeki. She nodded to herself and quietly followed the man.
She paused at the door when she was told. Curiously peering down the hallway, her ears panning forward to listen to the faint whisper of voices. If she was going to follow Wulfram she wouldn't be able to stay quiet thanks to her binding. So she sat patiently and waited for him to check of the coast was clear. She kept the sheets wrapped around her. She would follow the crow when she was told.

The pair stayed still for a bit and listened, but nothing spoke back. Maybe they were just hearing things? Unlikely they'd both hallucinate at the same time but, hey.... it could happen right? Sure ....
Jarvis was the first to start walking forward again, but froze for a moment when a voice called out to them, another disembodied voice? No ... this one definitely had a body and it was a somewhat familiar one. He was pretty sure he'd seen the Corvie coming for a visit at least once before.
Yes, but I'm afraid some of the servants haven't .... made it...
Emboldened he walked the remaining way down the hall to the taur, his little banded tail twitching nervously.
The mome made a little noise at Zeki, not a happy little noise either, before it took off and returned to Jerome. The little creature landed on his head and nestled it's self in his mane, which made the Akita want to sigh but he bit back on it. He moved down the hall with a slightly stiff gait and looked over his shoulder at least twice, he didn't trust the disembodied voice even if it hadn't spoken again. He turned his attention back to the chipmunk and the strange looking card. People were definitely strange outside of the glacier.
Yes, good.
He hated having to talk in short sentence snippets, but he was still working on his common and, well.... his home tongue wasn't exactly common place. A translator would be wonderful. But he couldn't just keep his mouth closed, hmmm.
Vhat of ze people here?
There, a full sentence, it made him feel a little better .... just a little.
[[ Sorry for the slow guys >.<]]

((Something suddenly makes everyone present feel as though they're being watched... An odd, awkward feeling of being closely observed. The Admin will need each Dealer to choose a number between 1 and 30, Kitty needs to choose one for each character and specify whose is whose and include it in the bottom of your next post. You are all attempting to spot something. A number has already been chosen for each character and we're seeing how close you can get to it, so choosing all 30's or all 1's may not do you any good at all; higher does not necessarily mean better for every person. Good luck.))

[Edited for Nat, who beat me to the punch. XD]
Zeki could have sworn he'd seen the chipmunk before; it gave him a good deal of hope--and a little bit of confusion--to see that not everyone had been frozen in place. If there were exceptions to it, maybe he could find out what it was that made the unfrozen different, isolate it, and somehow fix Virtute with it. It sounded comfortingly scientific to the point where he could nearly ignore the fact that he would have no idea where to begin such a hunt for evidence. And there was always the possibility that the chipmunk and his friend had been outside the palace and had simply wandered in, as his group had.
The servants "not making it" was a curious way to put things. And sounded far more nefarious than simply having been frozen. Were there also...also dead people? His stomach rolled a bit, thinking back to Fleur. He had seen quite enough dead people, thank you. Although if death were happening it would probably be in everyone's best interests to find out how and why.
"They're all frozen, as far as I can tell," he said, pained, answering the huge and fluffy Akita with the mome accessory. "I've got two people with me, though; they're right inside the rooms here. We've been...hoping to turn something up, but we haven't been having a lot of luck." He turned around and peered back through the door and into the chambers, where his companions might have been just out of sight. "Guys," he called, carefully. "Good news, the voices didn't lead me astray; they're not murderers. You can come out now."
Then he paused. Were Devika and Wulfram hiding and watching him right now? Because he felt...scrutinized, in a very uncomfortable way. He frowned in apprehension. This was all starting to feel like the worst hide and seek game ever.
[And I choose 19. XD]

Devika shifted under her sheet, pushing her ball with her foot for a moment. Her ears twitched at the sound of a door opening. Wait, was someone other than them around here?
And suddenly Zeki was talking in their general direction. Her ears pulled back as she could feel herself growing more flustered. And she suddenly felt like something was watching her. She made a terrified whimper and decided to catch up with Wulfram as fast as she possibly could. "Wulfram--sir--" What was she actually supposed to call him? "I think I heard something!"
So much for being quiet. She felt awful for not following the man's directions, but something scary was going on everywhere, and she didn't want to be alone. And now she was closer to Zeki and... hopefully good people. She tried not to look completely terrified as she glanced around.
She could have sworn she saw something Torquehelm round the corner and disappear. What was the Queen of Hearts anyway?

The voices were not ones he recognized, though he was certain he caught a familiar Solandrian accent attached to one of them. He was stepping into the open area of the room when Zeki's head peeked in.
He nodded to the man even as the feeling of being watched suddenly descended upon him. His red eyes narrowed and he froze mid-step, scrutinizing his surroundings. Devika rushed to him and he quickly wrapped an arm around the woman-child. "So did I." Apparently his feelings of impending doom were more accurate than he had hoped. Glorious.
With the girl close to him, he joined the others in the hallway. The newcomers were both strange in their own right, the heart seemed to be part... spider? Disturbing concept... His companion, however, was considerably more normal and a fellow Spade. He inclined his head to both of them.
"Excuse my absence. I em Wulfram, e Queen ov Spades." His gaze traveled to Zeki. "Zhe Queen doesn't appear to be in her chambers, und I don't suppose they know anything more of the Court's plight than we do?" As he spoke, he glimpsed movement from the corner of his eye. By the time he looked up it was nothing more than a shadow that flitted almost instantly out of view. He had a distinct impression that the dark shape he'd seen from the corner of his eye was potentially feline but... certainly he was just being paranoid? He hadn't slept much and in a moment of such stress it was easy for your eyes to play tricks on you.
For now he kept what he saw to himself, unwilling to admit the possibility of his impending insanity just yet.

So Zeki had been acting as a guard of sorts then? That made a little more sense for him to be in a doorway versus if her were alone. But it was nice to be around people who weren't simply frozen. Almost comforting really, except for the feeling of being watched that made the chipmunk curl his extra set of limbs closer to his body. Apparently the day was going to get nothing but stranger.
Jarvis, a Jack of Hearts.
Might as well return the man's formal introduction with one of his own since he held a title as well, a lower one, but one none the less.
On the other hand, people were no real comfort for the Akita. They were more a liability really, as he had been trained to function as a solitary unit. Especially a bunch like this that didn't look as if they could defend themselves particularly well, except perhaps the human. He wasn't sure about that one yet.
Jerome.
He peered over his shoulder for a moment, making sure to angle his head so that his only remaining eye could get a good look at their surroundings once again, he didn't trust it ... not at all. However, he thought there was a little tidbit of information that was worth sharing with the others.
I vould be vary zough, somezing is vrong. Tell zem, Jarvis.
The chipmunk put his ears back a bit before responding, his voice going down a bit as a bit of sadness for those involved crept into his tone.
The guards are frozen, but out back of their quarters some of the staff have been .... beheaded.
(( Jarvis 20, Jerome would be 15))

(( Jarvis, Jerome, and Wulfram catch a glimpse of something as it flashes by the far window!
It seems to fly past at an incredible rate...and- Where did that mist come from?
The mist is cold and spills inside the Palace over the windowsills through a crack in the edge of the glass. A clicking noise at the far end of the hallway slowly begins to approach them all. It hurries toward them, getting louder to reveal...
An Ace. A familiar Ace, too. The Hearts and Zeki know him well enough as Alex, that insane brat, Vaska's, Ace. Harmless enough, though the poor thing is probably scared out of its poor mind. The Ace shifts from foot to foot, looking nervous, then chirps, giving them all a worried stare.))~Nathalia

((I'm really sorry for the delay-- Beo was extremely sleepy XD;)) The warm darkness had cocooned Beowulf as if suspended in a hammock, nestled in soft, black blankets, in the deepest recesses of his mind. Within the fathomless space of this abyss, there weren't any sounds to be heard or jumbled images projected onto the surface of his subconscious to see. Thick and impenetrable, it had barricaded him from the horrors that were often seen behind his eyes whenever he went to sleep-- a town eternally burning, charred remains of everyone he ever knew, and a mythical dragon going on a rampage. Never had Beowulf felt in what seemed like a pretty damn long time such peace of a good night’s sleep. Yet, things happen when they must, and now it was time for the slumbering guard to wake. Turning his head to one side, Beowulf made a soft grunt of protest, hands opening and closing, and his eyelids fluttered as he began to stir. He did not want to wake! It was as though he was being dragged kicking and screaming from the most blissful refuge back into the harsh reality of the real world, while the pitch-black darkness lightened. At last, Beowulf awakened. He was stiff and sore and knew intuitively that he must have been asleep for hours. For a few minutes he laid there without moving, flat on his back, wings fanned out, arms and legs akimbo, until he finally summoned the effort to get up. With a small groan, he managed to dig his elbows into the ground and levered himself upright into a sitting position, one feathered hand coming up to rub the grit out of his eyes. The first thread of understanding broke through his drowsiness: he wasn't in a bed. He was outside on the grass, somewhere in the gardens. Beowulf couldn't remember how he got there. Looking up, as his vision cleared, Beowulf realized, to his horror, that he was surrounded by frozen and lifeless bodies. The Josiggy's cyan eyes widened, feeling his breath catch in his throat. He could actually physically feel the warmth bleeding out, chilling his exhausted body with frightened rigor. His face became ashen as he trembled in place, whimpering at what was suddenly presented to him. Oh Suits, please tell me I'm still dreaming... this cannot be happening! Beowulf struggled to his feet, cautiously picking his way over the heaps of (presumably) dead bodies of the good men and women who served the Court of Hearts, as he stepped lightly, hesitant and tense while looking in all directions around him. Still scuttling across the open lawn, Beowulf headed toward the guard post. When he eventually reached its threshold, he came to a stop in front of the door, turned the knob, pushed it open, and twisted his head around while glancing all over the interior in search of somebody-- anybody. There was no sign that any of his fellow guards had been in here since the previous night (little did Beowulf know, he had just missed Jarvis). "Hello! Is anybody in here?" he called out. He waited, but received no reply; there was no one to answer him, save for the echo of his own voice as it resonated off the walls, the ceiling, the floor, every nook and cranny. Stumbling away from the door, he caught a glimpse of a golden glow out of the corner of his eye. Turning to see what it was, Beowulf exhaled in relief. Lights were still on in the palace. It could only mean there were other Cards besides himself who were alive and kicking! The light from the windows burned like a beacon across the dark garden. Beowulf felt a pull in his gut, telling him he needed to go in there. It was his responsibility as a guard to ensure that all within were safe. Unfurling his wings as far they would go, the crow flexed then vaulted into the air, flapping to gain more altitude before taking off. A streak of molten quicksilver shot through the night, soaring over the prone forms strewn over the garden like kitschy lawn ornaments, in the direction of the only source of light that lit the darkness. It was when he neared one of the side entrances that he straightened himself up to the point where he was practically standing in mid-air, curving in his wings slightly to control his deceleration, and landed a few feet away. Beowulf righted himself quickly, rustling his feathers to their proper places on his well-toned body. Creeping towards the entryway, Beowulf's hand was on the knob when he stopped. What if the terrible unknown force that had incapacitated the majority of the staff was behind this door? "Weapon," he muttered. Cold steel and supple leather materialized as a two-handed broadsword in the grip of both of his hands as the guarded Heart summoned his weapon. And for good measure... he lifted up a foot, wiggling his clawed toes. Out of the pores sprouted an incredibly springy and light texture, wholly covering the soles of his feet. Holding his weapon firmly and easily by the hilt with one hand, Beowulf opened the door slowly, quietly, and sneaked inside. Summonable Sword: Even though it is not used as his King's ability (indeed, even though he is not a King) this SD is now able to pull a thick, broadsword directly from the center of his Heart marking whenever he feels the need to. The sword will feel to him as though it is a part of his body when he fights with it, and the weight will not bother him in the slightest. The sword will not work for another card, and if taken from him will dissolve into smoke in the opponents hands as he draws it once more from his Heart marking. Trying to use the sword against him is practically pointless as it will disappear if it feels another is gaining the use of it to be once more pulled to the current plane of existence by its master.
Summoned weapons are rare even in the Hearts Court and it will gain him quite a bit of respect to be able to produce one without even being a Face Card. Silence Ability: Once a week, this SD is now capable of causing their bodies to grow an incredibly springy and light texture to the bottoms of their feet. This texture will slowly rub off and lose effectiveness as an hour goes by, but during most of that hour, they are absolutely silent on their feet. Their breathing, screams, or clothing, however will still make noise.

Jarvis turned to face the window more fully, tensing up and wishing fully that he had his weapon here with him. Well, perhaps they could make a little stop to his new quarters if they made it that way? He wouldn't force them to go there, but if the course of their travels lead them there he could get his spear.
He turned again when he heard something coming, tensing up even more until he saw what it was. He relaxed and gave a sigh of relief... it was only an Ace. He clicked his tongue at the simple creature and beckoned it over, might as well make sure the thing was safe... not that he was all that fond of Ace's, not after meeting Dre and her... pet.
Alex, what are you doing up here? Come here boy.
Jerome's reaction to the thing in the window was a little more extreme. He turned fully toward it and snarled, hackles rising. It was quite obvious that he hadn't been the only one to see that, even if it wasn't there anymore.
The mist was strange, and the Ace's arrival was out of place as well .... and it made him incredibly suspicious. He turned his snarl on the seemingly harmless creature. The two events just coincided too well.
