Elodie stared at the servant as they reappeared, one eyebrow raised. The woman looked as if she was drugged and not bothering to fight it. She'd been sarcastic when she'd brought up epidemics at first, but could everyone really be sick? If that was the case, did she really want to be around it? She was now regretting not having locked herself up in her home for a week or ten.
The woman muttered her way through her statement a few times before spitting out something coherent. She immediately nodded in agreement. "I think that would be wise. Being alone in here doesn't sound like a smart idea at the moment." She followed his gaze to the woman, who looked like her mind had physically wandered off. "Yeah. Let's go."
Elodie followed the servant after she'd finally decided to start walking, and stood next to the doorway once they reached it for Zane to knock, as the servant had... well, disappeared.

The walk was very painful. The sparrow was half tempted to push the woman down the stairs and just find his way to wherever he was going by himself. Then again he wasn't walking fantastically fast himself. Everything was hurting.
When they arrived at the door he honestly expected the servant to knock. However she wandered off before he could say anything. What.... the... hell was going on here? He knocked on the door. "It's His Highness Zane," he said, not really sure who he was meeting. The woman had mumbled so badly he had just managed to get a "K" out of all of it.
He didn't wait for a proper response as he turned the knob and opened the door.
He just needed to keep his composure for a little while longer. Then he could go and pass out in his brother's bedroom. Maybe see what the girls were up to. "I'm sorry to interrupt your day, your Highness."

It wasn't that Mirriam thought the packing was going to be a lot of work (she really had no idea) so much as she had been just reluctant in general to leave her guardian. She'd underestimated just how much she'd missed his company the past few months, and she was secretly relieved when Khushrenada didn't kick her out of his office.
Instead, she got...story time! That was lots of fun! Mirriam wasn't always the best listener, and had a bad habit of interrupting the story with questions, but she was a bit better about that now than when she was younger. Just as the bird was halfway through a really interesting story about a ghost that haunted a tea shop, there was a knock on the door. Mirriam's ears twitched and she fluttered to the side, in case more Cards were going to be entering the office. She tilted her head, nodding when she heard who was there.
But her guardian kind of slumped a little after the servant left, and the servant herself had been acting...tired, as well. Maybe she'd just been working a lot today? The Bat turned toward Khushrenada. "What do you think it's about?" she asked, frowning a bit.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door, and then it opened. Mirriam turned, craning her neck to get a look out the door. She forced herself to stay quiet; if this was official Court business, she didn't want to get in the way. But she was also very curious what it was about. Wow...the Sparrow who had shown up didn't look very good -either-! Mirriam frowned. Why was everyone else so tired today?

"I really couldn't imagine," Khushrenada answered his ward's question frankly. "As far as I know, nothing unduly urgent is happening with Spades. I know that our Queens have some sort of... 'drama', let's say, between them, but it's never affected the Courts before. I suppose we'll find out when His Highness arrives."
It took a bit longer than expected for the attendant to deliver their guests to his office door. He heard the knock and the call, bid them enter, and then sat back in his chair out of reflex. The look he gave the King was frankly startled.
"That is... just fine. Please excuse my frank statement, your Highness, but you are not looking especially well today. Please sit down. Mirriam, would you fetch our guests something to eat and drink? Please. I'd rather not send a servant after it and never see them arrive."
His attention returned to his guests, the King and a Yarrow woman. Not surprising, with their respective Queens. "Is something amiss with Spades?"

Elodie peered into the doorway and gave the two Avingtons a once over before following Zane in. The tall one was a King and she couldn't see the smaller bat's marking, but she assumed Diamonds. The two of them were staring at Zane as if he was about to fall over - she glanced over and realized that was probably quite true.
The cat moved off to the side of the room out of the way and observed, wondering if either of the Diamonds had realized she was a Heart and definitely not a Spades ambassador. Ah, well, it was probably for the best - she wasn't sure how to describe why she'd picked up a stranger off the street in any way that would sound at all sane. After seeing the Court she was starting to doubt this little 'adventure' she was having - it could only get weirder.

Zane paused for a moment. He must have looked downright awful with that reaction. His feathers fluffed up awkwardly for a moment before he shuffled into the room. He would get this over with and pass out. Yep. That was the plan.
"I... apologize for my state I..." He trailed off as he took a seat. He waited until the Elodie was seated to continue. Though he didn't start where he left off. "There's a strange enchantment on the Court of Spades. A Queen and a King have fallen into a coma, and there seems to be no way to get into the Court once you get out. I was trapped in the garden and when I attempted to get into the library I was... repelled."
Composure. He needed to keep his composure. He was doing a poor job of it. "We need assistance right away. Can the Court of Diamonds provide us with help?"

Khushrenada listened to the ill-looking man's words, expression slowly changing from neutral concern to a mild horror. For an incident of such magnitude to occur... that sounded more extreme than most things within his experience. Most.
"That sounds... well, 'horrible' is the correct word, but it sounds decidedly more drastic than the word conveys. You cannot enter the building? Is your Queen trapped inside? Did she send you in her stead, or was she in some way afflicted by this enchantment?"
He paused, mind flitting through the own unusual events that had seemed to be taking place recently within the Diamonds Court. Best not to bring them up, probably. Not if something so immediate was occuring in Spades.
"I will need to approach my Queen with the problem. Likely she will have to approach Her Majesty Sadie before anything can be done. I'll send a missive for Queen Iria's attendance right away. I cannot go directly above her head - I'm sure you understand. But I hope to bring this to the Court's attention immediately. Please excuse me."
Hoping to wrangle another servant to send to his Queen, he left the room. Carefully.

"The Queen is... missing in action so to speak." He had no Godly idea where the woman actually was. Well ha.
Zane honestly wanted to curl up in a ball and cry as he stared at the man in front of him. He should have expected as much from politics. So when the man slipped out of the room he paused for a moment.
He needed Ez. As fast as he possibly could he popped out of the room, and unceremoniously grabbed the servant as they walked by. Pulling them close to his face he bluntly stated, "Get His Highness Ezekiel. Tell him Zane ins here. Now. No slacking." He let go of their face and walked back into the King's room.
He practically collapsed into his chair. So much for composure. The sparrow let out a small rather pathetic and pained sound. What the hell was going on and when was someone going to actually clue him in?

((The servant will return looking severely disturbed. It would appear that her Majesty, Sadie, is in a coma similar to that of King Raina of Spades. She cannot be awakened and lies as though deeply asleep. The same seems to have occurred to Queen Iria, though her consort, Ceren can easily be found...maybe it would be a good idea to locate her?
Regardless of whether you are able to or not, King Zane is starting to look more terrible...and more swollen over the course of the hour they spend searching for Ceren or speaking...Odd, is he pregnant too? Is something in the water? Regardless, it's odd that all other Diamond nobility seems to be missing. Ez can be located if you choose, but no one else seems to be available. Where have they gone?
Your goal is to search the Palace as best you can for the missing nobility and Ceren. Once located, your next goal will be revealed. Careful how you run him, though. No one should stay alone with the Palace like this and Zane's looking pretty terrible.))

After leaving the room to locate a servant, Khushrenada felt several of his pinions begin to prickle with unease. He did not feel entirely comfortable that his message would arrive with any real speed to Her Majesty Iria. Wishing dearly that he could resume his bipedal form without seriously questioning his balance, he made his way to the Queen's chambers and knocked. He brought the servant with him.
The door opened, which he found to be distinctly odd, and the Yarrow lay flat-out on one of her couches in the antechamber. He could not wake her. She did not appear to be harmed, but he could not wake her. This fact sent a horrible chill down his spine and he went to find Queen Sadie, whose chambers were not far. A very similar scene greeted him. Now sincerely fearful, though keeping his breathing as even as possible, he returned to his office as quickly as he could manage, servant in tow.
Pushing open the door, he tucked his wings tightly and looked at the other King to speak. The man's... ghastly appearance gave him pause, but he forged on. "Your Highness. I bring distressing news." And wasn't that a ridiculous way to put things? He grimaced and shifted uncomfortably. "It would appear that two of the Queens of Diamonds are... incapacitated. They appear to be unconscious and unharmed. Is this the same condition as the Queen and King that you mentioned? Precisely the same? Did you see them, and would you be able to identify it in another?"
And then he took in the man's appearance more properly, and had to wonder. But he wouldn't ask. Not yet.
