Maeve nodded briefly, casting one last look at Anubis as he strode towards what surely was to be his end--admirable, in way, if not for being utterly foolish; commonsense dictated that the enemy should not be allowed to choose the battlefield, if at all possible; commonsense also strongly advised against walking into a trap, but there he went--and began to make her way swiftly down the hall in the opposite direction. She kept half an eye on her “charges” and the rest of her nervous concentration dedicated to scanning the corridors for danger. She trusted Shelby to guard her back.
Curious, the draft she suddenly felt, and it was with trepidation that she continued down her current path. Had the door not really been sealed? Was there another exit? Or was it a trap? The whole thing was a trap.
And then a voice, but not the Voice. Foolish, of the Doe to call out without assessing the situation, but foolishness seemed to be the theme of the evening. Maeve crept cautiously towards the door and listened. Someone, or something, seemed awfully eager to gain entrance.
It was possible that it was another Rabbit, dragged into the mess with the rest of them, but could they take that risk? They didn’t really have a choice, did they. Whoever it was, they were on the right side of the door.
Maeve gave the door handle a thoughtful tug, and when it didn’t budge asked: “Mind if I ask who you are? We‘re in a bit of a situation in here.”

Brighid had been concentrating too hard to heard anything the female Leveret had said to her. She heard others speaking around her, but none of it really made any sense. She mumbled a few incoherent sentences to no one in particular. Voices in her head, buzzing, buzzing, buzzing. She would have thought her mind had completely snapped if it hadn't been for the fact that everyone else in the room seemed to have heard that male, evil voice coming from nowhere.
She had almost missed the entrance of the Jack, so busy was she looking around the room for any point of origin for the voice.... but everything was in sight and there weren't any other doors or pathways that she could see! What type of monster got off scaring lovely Does and Leverets? It just wasn't right! Just then, she noticed the recognizable scent of the Jack. Her gaze turned towards him slowly, her face alight with hope and a small shadow of disbelief. What if it was a trick?
She was about to run to and fling her paws around him (it didn't matter now who this Jack was) when the Voice sounded again. Yasmin? She thought, confused and looked around. It was when she saw everyone looking to the corpse of the Yarrow Doe that Brighid found it hard to breathe. Keep her?! What did he mean keep her? She realized there had been a stack of other dead Does in the other room.
She took a few steps away from the Rabbits and threw up on the floor. She could hear her heartbeat pound in her ears and when she looked back up the room spun around her. Her belly seemed to be slowly getter larger minute by minute.
She vaguely heard the Jack issuing orders to them all, but only heard half of his instructions. She'd felt a small tremor right before a cabinet fell over and revealed a hidden doorway. A way out? Hope flared again in her chest but was quickly snuffed out when she saw the Jack grab a very large knife and head towards the new door. She realized he was heading towards the Voice, and that was the last place she wanted to be.
Hurrying as fast as her bloated form would allow she caught up with the other Rabbits as they reached the magically sealed front door to the Warren. Brighid cried out in frustration, pushing past the other Does and Leverets and throwing her body against the wood.
"Get us out of here, or we're going to die! Please!" she shouted, crying again after getting a brief smell of fresh air, just out of her reach. "Why is this happening to me?" she sobbed.

((The door downward seems to open fairly easily...revealing a dark opening that seems to lead into blackness. It is cold in there and echoes multiply unnaturally. There is no light inside.
Anubis feels an odd wind, more like hot breath, running down his back...though no one appears to be there... It continues and won't let up. Maeve is able to wrestle the front door open from the inside; once she has done so, both are sucked in by a powerful force as the door crashes shut behind them, cracking down the middle and hissing a little...as though air is leaking out of it.
Brighid bloats out to the point where she can barely walk. Her body shakes and she is filled with horrible, wracking pains...everyone can probably guess what is about to happen aside from Anubis, who is likely horrified and puzzled, unless he's been desensitized to such things.))

Aleah hadn't been ready for the open with so much ease, though the reason wouldn't have been his own strength but what seemed to be a force from the inside…
And a wind suddenly brought Aleah tumbling in, able to keep from impaling himself own his own claws by a great feat of twisting and tucking into himself before landing on his back on the floor. Disoriented, he righted himself. Upon looking around, it was a rather horrifying sight. A Doe was -swelling-, and the others were either staring at her in horror or anxiously toward another door that a very familiar Jack was approaching.
Dafina… Thank goodness she was safe! But she didn't seem too concerned with him, probably not realizing just who had come through the door. He moved forward, stepping up beside her as he carefully avoided the frantic and seemingly very ill Doe.
"Dafina! Thank goodness you're alright! What… is going on here?" His hair stood on end when ominous echoes sounded out from within the opened door.
Ugh… get on with it already! Or that's what the Madame was thinking with how very suddenly the Torquehelm doe expanded. Her incessant noises were being distracted from the true threats, which wasn't exactly ideal considering the young Doe was coming to terms with her own mortality. Uncomfortably, she shifted away from Brighid and stared after the Jack.
"Do you see anything?"
Layla had to jump out of the way when two leverets came rolling her way. One of them was new to the group.. she stared at the leveret curiously, but then back to Maeve. "Are you alright?" Her ears pinned against her head before looking back to the shut door. It was cracked and whistling ominously. No doubt that door wouldn't open again.

((Just getting in another post for Brighid before she pops. XD I love that everyone hates her! lmao))
Brighid had been leaning all her weight against the door when it flew open. She fell to the floor and was pushed back by a very strong wind coming from outside the Warren. After she regained her feet she realized first that the voice she'd heard from the outside was now inside with them, and the front door leading to freedom was once more closed.
"Nooooo!" she wailed, walking forward. It was then she noticed how swollen her entire body had gotten, how every little movement seemed to hurt. She took a breath to start screaming again when her pain intensified so badly that all speech function was forgotten. She crumpled into a heap on the floor, laboriously breathing and staring blankly ahead of her.
This was it; she was about to die. A few tears leaked down her furred cheeks but still the pain was so strong she couldn't draw a deep enough breath to scream. A white haze seemed to fill her vision. Maybe the White Rabbit would be kind and let her end come quickly. She couldn't stand much more of this!

Shelby nodded to Maeve, and let her do the talking and leading as he took up the position in the rear of the group. His trembling paws still held the letter opener, and his mind held the knowledge of his new ability. If anything came after them, he'd try his best to attack it. Instead of screaming and running, which was probably what he'd feel like doing. It was really already what he felt like doing. His thoughts were interrupted as that blasted Torquehelm Doe flew by him again, screaming and pounding on the door. By the White Rabbit, could she possibly be any -more- melodramatic about this whole thing?
Of course, then the door blew open, and Shelby jumped, whirling around to point his little weapon at the newcomer...but then relaxed a bit when he saw it was just a Leveret. Though...wow...the newcomer sure had some nasty claws on him. Shelby frowned as he watched the Highlander go to speak to one of the Does with them. "Wh-who are you?" he demanded with as much courage as he could, going to stand near Maeve and make sure she was all right.
And then...the crazed Doe began screaming...a half glance at her showed Shelby what was going to happen and he felt a strangling, horrified sensation claw at him.

Maeve shook her head to clear away the cobwebs, her ears ringing with the force of the blast. What--? After reestablishing her position at the door--which had been accomplished by pushing the Doe right back out of the way, with vindictive force--she had given the handle another frustrated tug, and--
It had opened. For one, dizzying moment she’d felt the giddy relief of successfreedom and then some sort of force was knocking her right back into the warren. The door, she noted, was shut once again, and split clean down the middle from the force of impact. It whistled ominous. It was probably mocking them.
Someone was asking if she was alright, she registered dimly. Maeve responded intelligibly something to the effect of, “Nngh,” more to prove she was alive than coherent, and forced herself to stand. She wobbled only briefly before regaining her equilibrium.
A new face. Maeve was rather proud to see Shelby take the initiative of ascertaining the identity of the newcomer, though he certainly already seemed to know one of the Does. Maeve admired his claws--such an obvious weapon would be extremely beneficial given the current situation, if he were trustworthy--and waited for him to answer.
The renewed shrieking had her glancing at the hysteric Doe, and any annoyance she might have been feeling was quickly replaced by a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. The Doe’s belly had distended obscenely, and every one of them knew what that meant. It wouldn’t be long now, and Maeve almost felt guilty for her continued dislike of the female.

Anubis concentrated on the grip he had on the knife in his hands. There was something reassuring about that steady, perfect feeling in his hands. But still, that odd feeling of being breathed on was horribly unsettling. The Jack gritted his teeth and growled under his breath to steel his resolve. Behind him he heard some sort of commotion, a crash and noise. He could here that one Doe screaming and his hair began to stand on end before he forced himself to calm down. He had a bad, bad feeling about going down this tunnel. But it was just parlour tricks to scare him off, he made himself sure of that, before taking the first step down through the door that had only seconds ago appeared.
He held the knife in front of his chest, a move that seemed quite natural for a new weapon. Somehow it made him feel protected and this feeling made him braver. . he took another step down the rabbit hole.
Dafina was in shock, she was sure of it. She was even imagining that Aleah was. . .
"ALEAH!" The Doe exclaimed, nearly wanting to collapse on the leveret and just be comforted by him. The last time they had seen each other she had been a leveret herself, and somehow seeing him made her forget her new status. Aleah, was just Aleah afterall. A teenage friend she had made, and confided in. And here he was in her moment of greatest need.
"Why. . . why is the door whistling? Is the Warren losing air?" She asked quietly, scared. She looked at the male leveret. "Thank the White Rabbit you're here."

(( The small door in the Leverets' quarters...the one hissing a bit, suddenly flies open again, revealing a dark staircase that vanishes into blackness. The sound of a bell booms out from within. Sadly, Brighid has screamed her last. With one final cry of horror, her entire body shudders and she vomits pathetically as her intestines rupture out of her front. She will live for another 20 seconds before dying. Something small, gore-covered and terriblespills out of her. A Card. A Card just tore its way out of this Doe, leaving her to die. There is no question of what it is, though its breeds and Realms are so thoroughly mixed that it's hard to distinguish what it might be.
ID: SD (They'remesseduprightnow) Name: ---- Suit: Diamonds Rank: Ten Gender: Female Animal: Bird (Pygmy Owl)/Canine (Bat-eared Fox)/Vermin (Swamp Rat) Region: Tulgey Wood/Hisstor Wastes/Solandria Glacier/Torquehelm Dealer: Lauryn Parents: Brighid x NPC
Notes: This downright lovely girl was born at the age of 19. She is aware of common Card culture, though not Rabbit culture, and has average intelligence. Her sweet demeanor is tempered by a slightly cruel streak that sometimes cannot be repressed far enough for her to escape its urges. Her mix of breeds is painfully appealing and most Cards will find her to be an incredibly exotic beauty, worthy of a few second glances, to say the least. The Rabbit ear mutation is only inherited by luck of the roll and cannot be commissioned or purchased. Her small bone mask can be removed, but without it she becomes painfully paranoid.
Basic Magical Ability: She can act charismatic and persuasive at times, whether or not she actually has the natural charm and grace to pull it off. Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can decipher up to two languages of the player's choosing. These languages are in addition to the common tongue and the Diamond house language. Strong Magical Ability: When activated, she can cast a lie-detector spell on a Card of the Suit of Spades and of a Rank lesser or equal to her own, once per day. Cards of equal Rank would be aware of the spell, but Cards of lesser Rank would not. Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, she can fly for up to half an hour. Winged Diamonds can use this ability for effortless, perfectly controlled flight.
Some of the mess hits Layla! It smears across her shoulders, burning a little before sinking in and vanishing, leaving clean fur behind. Her body shudders and then twists alarmingly! All of the rot slides cleanly from her body, leaving simple bone that she controls as though covered in flesh, no more rot will contaminate her body from this day on. Bony wings rip their way out of her shoulders, ornamental as there is no hope of flying with those, and her forehead is consumed with enough fiery pain that she probably fears death as her tail stretches!
All present near the small door that leads into blackness hear the bell boom out again as footsteps begin to approach them from the opening.))~Nathalia

She was too terrified to do anything except move along with the group and try not to be left behind, or get lost. She stuck close to the Madame, feeling quite a bit safer nearer the strong sounding doe, the whole mess with the door just made her creep even closer.
So they had another, weird looking party member and... the door was... hissing? That wasn't a good sign, neither was the fact that it wouldn't reopen. Brighid's scream made her jump, but she relaxed a little when she saw the doe was fine... except for her still expanding belly. Oh... oh no. It was going to happen again, wasn't it? She trembled a bit before she buried her face in the madame's side and closed her eyes tight. She put her ears back and began to sob quietly again .... she didn't want to watch, not at all!
Oh.... oh no..... not again.
And it happened... she heard the sickening noised the does body made when it split and whatever was inside clawed it's way out. Another abomination, just like her and The Madame had come into the world. She waited a few seconds before opening her eyes and peeking over the other does's back. What she saw made her gasp in a mixture of surprise and fright. That .... wasn't a rabbit!
