(just replying with Dafina, will give everyone else a chance to talk to the Jack before Anubis shows up)
The words behind her felt like a quick slap and Dafina cringed just a little, her lop ears sinking lower. She had dreamed her whole life of becoming a Doe, of being the needed lover of a Jack whom she truly cared for. And she had pushed, and pushed, until one day she had done it! She had become a Doe, with many adornments given by her Father and new wings. . She still wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the wings. But her /tail/. Dafina had felt incredibly beautiful that day, after she had put on the last of her gifts from Father.
A real live Doe, ready to move on to a new Warren and make herself important, needed, valued]. And then. . . nothing had happened. She had never been traded. At first she assumed it was because her Father was so picky with his trades, wanting the absolute best in exchange for his daughter. But then the thoughts began to creep in. Those horrible Torque thoughts. She wasn't worth anything and perhaps, just maybe, that's why she hadn't been traded. Nobody wanted her.
The Doe crinkled her nose tightly head dropping to look intensely at her tea as she fought back tears. Oh for the love of the White Rabbit this was NOT the time.
"Nothing. . ." She responded meekly back to Aleah, "I'm sorry."
She curled her paw inward sinking claws into the pads on the bottom to shock her eyes out of their watering. After a moment she looked up again to see what was going on around the room. Her tail flicked and curled in anxiety up around her back for a moment before she relaxed it and let it touch Aleah slightly on its way back down to the seat, an apology.

Shelby nodded to Maeve, relieved, and gratefully allowed her to push the tea caddy. He felt greatly daring, suddenly, standing up to a Jack, but he wasn't sure how long he could keep up an act of nonchalance. At least the Jack had ignored him before...maybe he would again? Shelby hopped towards the lounge, trying to keep his ears from trembling. He glanced back to make sure the other Leveret was following...and saw that there was a teacup hanging from her horn. In another situation, he would have found that amusing, but he was currently too shaken up.
"Um..." he whispered to her. "You have a...um. Never mind." He doubted the Jack would notice such a thing anyway; he seemed way too far gone. He really hoped this plan worked. He sat obediently near the door of the room and looked around at each of the Does without meeting their eyes, as that would be disrespectful. Training was starting to kick in and push out fear. He was just...serving tea. Nothing out of the ordinary at all.

((The Jack twitches a little, tilting his head to the side, a bit like a nervous bird, as he watches all of the Does. Once they're all settled, his face splits into a wide grin. At the Torque's words, he finally seems to notice her. "Value?" He asks, before the little thing behind her hissed at her and she seemed to droop, muttering something. In a flash, the Jack was out of the chair, lunging across the room to yank the Highland Leveret onto the floor by the nape of the neck. (19 O__o) "Do not touch my Does! Why are you not off making tea, wretch?" He hisses, spittle hitting Aleah in the face. a large foot comes down on top of the Leveret's paws, not painfully, but to hold them there. "Get out. Get out and do not come back in. You...how did you-, oh...I see." The voice softens as the Jack makes an attempt to lift the Highlanders chin a little. "You want to become a Doe for me, pretty devil? I, um...I can do that, you know?" He murmured, confused, but nearly calm again, as he tries to stroke the chin, stepping back and settling himself back down, one mad, over-wide eye still focused on Aleah. "Value, to be a Doe..." He nods to the Madame. "Um...anything you like?" His voice trails slightly as he misses the Mid-Ranger, so focused on the Madame before her, she is clearly the favorite of the room. "I can help...I, um...I want to, really." He muttered, toying with his ruined whiskers and smiling to himself. The Leverets then pushed into the room with the tea cart. The Jack gave them a look of utter delight. "Ah! Tea, thank you, it's been so long." He took the proffered cup and let his gaze rest on Maeve. "You are...very pretty..." He mumbled, before taking a small sip of tea and looking greedily about at the rest of the little crowd. "I, um...I was thinking of moving this Warren someplace...nicer, do you think? Maybe the Midori? What say the ladiesssss?" His tongue slips slightly and he crosses and uncrosses his legs, taking another sip.))

Aleah spluttered with surprise as he was suddenly slammed onto the ground. His paws had begun to reach immediately, but they were slammed down onto the ground before he could do the damage he so wished to inflict. Eyes wide and bloodshot, he stared up at the Jack with absolute rage. He was going to kill him!
His whole body shook when the Jack touched him. He was repulsed. A Doe!? Did he think the leveret was female?? Of course he would; they all assumed that. It turned his stomach.
A near manic laughter rang up from the table, Banvyne clapping her paws together in delight. She might have been screeching something akin to the words 'kill it', but her giggles were far too severe to truly make out what she was saying.
Seeming to have forgotten their potential danger, the Madame sat back on her haunches and smoothed the fur on her chest, her sinister gaze staring at the pinned leveret a moment before back up at the quivering, strange Jack.
"What I'd like? Well, I certainly already have value. Ah… lets see. Surely I've already been born equipped with everything I need. But tell me, you say you can make leverets into Does? How does one do that?"
Did he make them explode?
Aleah's thin chest heaved up and down, eyes still frantically wide. He didn't seem in immediate danger.. but his ego was bruised… and that Stupid Doe was enquiring on how to turn him into a Doe. That was the last thing he needed! If this Jack found out… already, he'd proven to be surprisingly fast. He pulled at his limbs to try and free his feet, despite little Layla who was standing by the tea tray signaling for him to just stay down and not move.
Oh by the White Rabbit! The Jack was going to KILL that leveret! Or… something else. Layla couldn't tell, but her breath hitched and her wings rattled together anxiously as she watched the thin and unhealthy thing as it was pinned beneath the Jack's foot. It was wriggling to get free… no! She shook her head violently, trying to catch his eye. If he made the Jack mad, then maybe he would kill him next time the strange Torque Jack was angered.

Maeve couldn’t say she was surprised at the outburst when it occurred, having entered the room at a most inopportune time. The Highlander leveret was insane to think she--he, perhaps; Maeve wondered, given the behavior, and if so, how foolish of the leveret to bring such undue attention to himself!--could get away with acting so familiar with a Doe, especially in the presence of a Jack; it had been one thing in the hall, when the two had greeted one another so enthusiastically--most all Does had been leverets at some point, and some even acknowledged their old friendships after the transition, but the rules of decorum were different thereafter; fear, and stress, might make an individual forget that--but it was inexcusable given the setting, and situation. The leveret was lucky not to have been killed outright.
Maeve bobbed her head politely as she handed over the tea, vaguely surprised. No one had ever had cause to call her pretty before, and it left her feeling strange; there was no usefulness in pretty, and yet… Maeve banished the thought.
“Of course, sir. Let us know if you desire anything else,” and proceeded to make herself unobtrusive.
It pleased her to see him take a sip of the tea. And another. How long would it take, she wondered.
And then Madame spoke up, and Maeve’s heartbeat--already accelerated--began to stutter painfully in her chest. To bring up such a subject! To encourage! What if he decided to demonstrate?

She stuck close to the Madame, the other doe being the one sense of security she'd had at all in her short life. And it seemed in doing so.... she could remain completely invisible to the Jack that seemed so.... so out of it. He didn't even notice that she hadn't answered his question, and she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, which was cut short by the invasion into the private spaces of her mind. Drugging the tea? All of it? Well, as silly as that sounded, maybe there was a circumstance she didn't know about that caused them to do such a thing? Whatever it was, she surely wouldn't take a sip. She responded, not really realizing she could do so.
I don't exist to him anyhow, he wouldn't notice if I didn't touch my cup at all.
She pulled her ears back best she could when the Jack made a move to snatch up Aleah, and keep him from making any move with those weapons he called feet. It seemed he was going to hurt the poor thing but... no... he started rattling off about him becoming a doe for the Jack? Such.... simple thoughts this poor soul had. And yet she felt compelled to try and help the Highlander out a bit.
She straightened up, trying to project her soft little voice to reach the Jack's ears.
IGood, handsome sir.... I'm afraid that I may need to freshen up a bit for you. Might I ask where I may go to do this? I think that leveret might need to be put to a bit of work, may I.... borrow her as well?
She would apologize to Aleah after she got him away from the Jack, if she was able to, of course. It would be nice to get away from the strangely charming creature as well.

Shelby had always heard horror stories, about how some Jacks would abuse their Leverets, especially naughty ones. About how some Jacks were not 'all there' so to speak, and working under them was a dangerous game played for one's own life. Those stories had never been more real then when they all walked in on the Jack yelling at the other Leveret and stamping on his feet, and then abruptly switching moods two seconds later. Shelby pulled at his ears and stared, wide-eyed. He was glad that the weapon, his own slight rebellion against being a proper Leveret, was hidden away at that moment.
And then there was talking of making Leverets into Does and Shelby's heart skipped several beats. Oh, how glad he was to be so plain, suddenly! There was no way they'd pick him to try and experiment on. The Selkie made sure to make himself look as inconspicuous and as small as possible, tugging on his ears tightly to try and keep calm. Oh, he really hoped the other, not insane Jack came back soon!

(NONE OF MY CHARACTERS ARE QUIET!!)
Anubis stayed crouched and continued moving towards the voices he heard down the hallway, raised voices now even. . . A quick shot of adrenaline went through his chest. He'd be damned if he lost another of his Warren, especially his own daughter. The Jack continued to creep forwards quietly (5 >.>) until he was just outside the room, he stilled his breath, waiting for a moment. Steadying himself, before he burst through the door trying to catch the other Jack unaware.
Dafina watched in horror as her foolishness attracted the attention of the crazed Jack. Worse yet, he seemed to go directly for Aleah. The Doe let out a small sound and scrambled back into her seat further. Her eyes widened and her breathing quickened. No no no. This was all going so very horribly.

(("How...um, how to make them into Doessss?" He asked, eyes on the beautiful Madame...obviously she runs best to his tastes. Which could be dangerous, if his mannerisms and those dead Does in their chamber speak of anything...if that was, in fact, this Jack... "It was, um, a spell...the man in the basement taught it to me by accident...I think." He muttered, looking slightly frightened by the idea. Removing his foot from the Leveret n the floor at the grey Doe's request. "I, um...ok. That'sss, yes? Yes, ok, she-"
The Jack suddenly seemed to freeze, eyes wide and staring, a bit nostrils flaring with what could have been either fear or rage, he stared towards the entrance to the room. His ears slowly flattening as he gingerly got to his feet, hissing a little, and edging toward the opening. Ignoring the scorned Leveret he set loose as soon as his feet left its paws, and anything else the Does may have said, he stalked away. "Thieves? Sneaks and liiiiarrrsssssss?" He snarled, to himself, reaching into his coat pocket and drawing out what looked an awful lot like an exquisitely sharp scalpel. "I hate thieves!" Shrieking the last, he slammed out of the entrance at an incredible speed and slashed directly toward Anubis's face! (18)
The blade is incredibly sharp and after whirling around the corner he takes out the small, dim light on the wall. It clangs t the floor, leaving the hall in darkness as the mad Jack slips himself against the wall and makes a dash, aiming to get behind the other Jack in order to put him in silhouette...and leave himself in darkness. (14) As he races, something inside of him begins to feel a little...off. Something isn't right, and upon realizing it, his eyes dilate to their fullest extent in fear.))

It was a rather macabre attraction; Banvyne's first interaction with a Jack, and one that looked at her with some desperate rabidness that made her feel appreciated and desired. Like a piece of meat on the end of a hook for a starving dog. It was delightful and wrong all at once.
If he took her would it stop his shaking? Or would she merely end up dead like everything else in the house? Was there not a fear of death…
Well, she wasn't sure how she felt.
A man in the basement. There was someone in his basement? Her nose wrinkled with disapproval, but something rather exciting happened. Anubis reappeared, making such a racket of bumbling into the room that no doubt everyone noticed his arrival. The nameless trembling Jack certainly had.
---- Aleah jumped to his feet as soon as he could, hair standing on end. Eegads, that Jack was fast! Upon impulse, he moved back to Dafina's side, putting himself in front of her in such a way as to shield her from the fighting Jacks. He looks around for any safety, or help for the situation.(12) Damnit.. if only he weren't so useless! That Jack had bested his tiny frail body so easily…. It was a frustration that felt like a physical burn in his mind.
--
Layla quickly began to scramble out of the way.(20) She easily dodged a malicious swat from Banvyne's wing, who gave an angry rabbit noise at the intrusion in her personal space.
