As several other Rabbits padded into the kitchen, Shelby swallowed, trying to get himself under control from the horrible all-consuming fear. This was an absolute nightmare, and he was never going to survive if he didn't get ahold of himself. He was relieved to see Maeve again, the one familiar thing in a sea of horror, and he shakily moved toward her, ears pressed against his back and whole body trembly.
Then...then there was a voice. Shelby let out a high pitched squeak, whirling around and staring with wide eyes to see if he could see the source. Something moved, far back in the tunnel, and though Shelby squinted that way he couldn't see anything. But he could -feel- its presence, and he wanted to just curl up and hide away. He nodded jerkily to Maeve. That sounded like the best plan yet. "Y-y-yeah, we n-need to get out of h-here," he stuttered in a shaking, weak voice. He moved himself closer towards Maeve and the Torquehelm, as she actually looked to be relatively sane. And what the terrified Leveret needed right now, desperately, was a dose of sanity.

As a few other Rabbits managed to make their way to the Kitchens, Brighid was still stuffing her face full of the stale pastries and buns. Flaky bits of crust stuck to the fur around her mouth and made a small pile on the floor, but the Doe kept shoving bun after bun in her mouth, determined to quell that horrible feeling coming from inside of her.
Brighid nearly choked on the dry bread, her mouth almost too full to draw a complete breath. She'd been about to rummage around the kitchen for yet more food when that disembodied voice spoke to them all. The Torque Doe froze in mid motion, an icy cold fear running down her spine and keeping her immobile. The creepy and malicious voice managed to momentarily pull Brighid out from her lunatic meanderings.
She turned her head toward the others. "Did anyone else hear that?" She noticed a Leveret looking down the tunnel leading away from the kitchens and turned her own gaze that way. She saw nothing, but....
She shivered. There didn't appear to be anyone down the tunnel, though the voice had been close and clear enough, but Brighid could feel something down there. Absently rubbing her atrociously swollen belly, she began to slowly edge backwards towards the other Leverets and the other Torque Doe.
A horrible and simple thought occurred to her then. "I doubt any of us will ever get out of here alive. It won't let us leave."

"Do us all a favor," Maeve snarled, "and cease flapping your jaw." She directed this, of course, at the doomsayer. Her thoughts were rather similar--she suspected they were all thinking that exact thing, and none of them expected to wake up from the nightmare--but Maeve didn't need that kind of thinking verbalized, poisoning the air. The group was barely holding together, nerves frayed to nearly breaking. They needed to stay calm.
"Whatever is out there may very well want to keep us, but I will be damned if I make it easy for--whatever--it is. We are not dying here. Not like this. So get off your fluffy, pampered ass, and pretend you have a spine for five minutes."
Maeve took a breath, released it slowly, and turned to the rest of the group. "Everyone grab a weapon, and then head for the front entrance. Keep together, move quickly. I'll cover your tails." Her own tail, newly sharpened, twitched in readiness.

Dafina could feel the tension mounting and her fur fluffed with the friction. She had had just about enough of Brighid and her fear-mongering. It did nothing to hear the words bouncing around your head said out loud. Somehow it made the fear more real, and the causes of that fear more likely.
"I agree we need to leave, or move, or something. Sitting here inviting trouble will get us nowhere. But. ." She trailed off. Where were they supposed to go, and WHAT were they running from?
Anubis was now moving through the Warren towards the hallway where he thought he heard voices. There were definitely others in here, so he ventured some noise to announce himself. Who knows what had happened here, and how on edge the other Rabbits would be?
"Hello?" He waited a minute to hear if a response would be called back before moving further down the hallway.

"Watch how you speak, pest!" The Doe snapped, eyes narrowing at the leveret Maeve. How dare the waste of space yell at another Doe?? "Surely, you must be as touched in the head as you are ugly."
Sure, the hysterical Brighid was not a pleasant creature to be around at the moment, but that didn't mean a lowly leveret ever had a right to speak out against her.
Now, if anything was going to be ruffling feathers, it would be disembodied voices. the Madame stood stark still, both ears going up as she assessed the situation. Run? There was nothing to run to. The voice was almost disembodied and didn't register in her ears as she felt they should. Her primary ears pinned and her more acute ones swiveled when she heard a noise coming from the hall.
A voice, and not the eerie one she'd heard. But panic! Something was coming -at- them! She could feel it where her keen ears could not hear it. She turned toward the individual which had come through the hallway (or I'm -assuming Anubis is now in sight. Bwaha.)
She quickly addressed Anubis. "You!'" A touch demanding, followed up by more genuine fear. "There's something coming!"
Yes. It was coming. Heading for a leveret… or rather it sounded as if it was heading that way. Tail flagging with a sudden panic she bolted rather away from the small creature. If it was to get mauled, the Madame refused to be nearby to be the next victim!
She was born wearing jewelry that only she can remove should she choose, it causes other Does and Leverets to feel uncomfortable or, if she's angry, unworthy of her presence. ((This was in her notes... I'm -pretty- sure this just pertains to her -wearing- the jewelry but I've asked Nat to be sure XD))

The Mid-Ranger drew in a stuttered breath when a paw touched her shoulder, her crystal blue eyes glittering with yet un-shed tears. The other doe seemed so incredibly calm and knowing about the situation that a part of her sadness diminished, but the knowing of what she had caused still lingered and disturbed her. However, there was also something about the other doe's demeanor that made her believe she wouldn't care about the feelings and thoughts that remained and didn't dare vocalize them.
She turned her attention back to the heap of fur that had once been her mother and reached out with a paw, touching hers to one of the quickly cooling ones of the golden doe. Dafina's scream only made her want to cry again and the flow of blood from her magical wounds increased until the rather lovely Torquehelm quieted.
If it wasn't for me .... you'd still be alive, wouldn't you? I really didn't mean it... I promise.... I didn't mean it.
She closed her eyes and turned away from the corpse in favor of following the other doe and the rest of the makeshift little group. Her lovely lopped ears dragged the ground and her tail drooped as she made every effort to not drag her paws. They were right, they couldn't afford to stick around here much longer, not with the feeling of dread and the scent of death that seemed to waft throughout the entire warren.
And then there was a voice that brought a shiver down her spine and cause her fur to fluff, every bit of her brain urging her to run as fast as she could but.... to where? The last one to run off had been swallowed up, it was this fear that made her freeze.
She couldn't die yet ... no, she wouldn't let her mother's sacrifice be in vain. But.... what were they supposed to do? She looked around at the faces of everyone nearby, trying to get a hint of knowing or hope from any of them... she saw nothing yet and.... why was that leveret sharpening it's tail?

((Heh. Either way, Maeve is used to feeling completely unappreciated and worthless, so it‘s all good. : ) ))
Maeve glanced at First, tailing twitching in irritation. Maeve didn’t like, nor did she trust the Doe; knowing the means of its birth, and the air it cloaked itself in, made Maeve’s heart stutter with unease. There was something unnatural about the creature. And while Maeve did not appreciate being called ugly--an unoriginal barb, and one Does seemed habitually fond of when emotionally abusing servants--she refused to let anything it said affect her. It was better to be ugly and useful than a vain, useless, stuck-up ornament.
“This is not the time for a pissing contest,” Maeve said serenely, setting her own insecurities aside, and stepping out into the hall.
“Anubis!” Maeve exclaimed, and scrambled to add a hasty, “Sir!”
Maeve was surprised to see him, but no unhappily so. He hadn’t been completely ineffectual against the smoke creatures, and he might be of use in this situation as well. He could, at the very least, garner more respect (and willingness to see reason) from the fractured group.
“I think it’s related to the smoke creatures, but I can’t be certain. The Does--” the easiest way to get a Jack’s attention and cooperation was to remind him of his darlings-- “need to be escorted to safety. Quickly.” She glanced down the hall. Had she seen something move? It could be her imagination and fear playing tricks on her...
“I’ll cover the rear, Sir, if you’ll lead the way.”

Anubis stopped. . . . He had found others. And there on the floor . . . two of his Warren. And. . . "Yasmine." It felt like time stood still as his eyes took in every last gory detail of his Doe laying there, ripped to pieces. It looked as though something had ripped its way through her. He felt a sickening anger begin to build within him and he finally lifted his head to take in the others around him.
"Dafina." He said quietly in greeting. There was an unusual tone in his voice, relief? Relief to have at least one of his Warren intact. The mutant Doe was the next to catch his attention and he quickly shot a measuring gaze down the hallway. It did feel as though something was coming, something /wrong/. The feeling itself was enough to make the Jack uneasy as he wasn't one to rattle easily.
He narrowed his eyes at Maeve's bold demand. The leveret was useful, and indeed, he wasn't unhappy to see her and her bladed tail here. Instead of acknowledging her overt boldness directly however he addressed the group as a whole.
"We must move, now." That last word held a certain power that Anubis had gained through years of ordering others. It was necessary, they had to move and now, no more chit chat. "Dafina, stick by me."

Shelby stared at Maeve as she yelled at the hysterical Doe. It was exactly what he'd been thinking...but would never have had the guts to say. He liked Maeve, despite her pricklyness. She didn't seem to be afraid. And she was giving orders. It filled Shelby with a bit of relief, to be able to follow someone's orders, to not need to think for himself. He switched his letter opener into one paw and hopped over to her, ears perking slightly up...even as the others began to come into the room, including the two Does who were born so...unnaturally.
He gave them a baleful glance, especially the really loud, stuck up one. Even though her anger wasn't directed at him, it still made Shelby want to sink into the floor. And then...there was another voice, other than the disembodied one. A tall form emerged from the shadows, and there could be no doubt at all that this was a Jack. Shelby took several deep breaths, trying to force himself calm. After all, Maeve seemed to know this Jack, and judging by the look on her face, was glad to see him.
And then the Jack gave an order, and Shelby's response was automatic. "Yes Sir," he said quietly, pitching his voice higher like he'd been taught. Though chances were, in this sort of situation, it didn't quite matter if the Jack thought he was female or not. But it gave Shelby something to focus on other than the fear. Curling the letter opener in a paw to half hide it from the Jack...Anubis, had Maeve called him?...Shelby prepared to follow him.

((The voice rings out again, thick, heavy...almost panting...
"In my Warren! Miiiiiiiiiiinnne? Good siiiiir, please prepare to duel me...I find your presence among my Doesssssss to be insufferable...."
It chuckles for a second, dry voice ringing around everyone present as the entrance to the Warren seals shut.
"Yasmin...was it? Ssssshe is delicious...I'll be keeping herrrrrr."))
