So that's how it happens. Maeve thought, distantly, that she might be in shock. The gore from the little leveret had been horrific, but the bloody, mangled mess left behind was preferable to having actually seen the process that put that blood on the wall, and floors, and Rabbits standing too close.
And then the Highlands Leveret was swallowed up by a dark vortex that opened up under her feet.
Maeve scrambled back, back up against the wall, quivering.
The creature--a Doe? full-grown, but how was that possible? no possible way that it could have fit inside the other, without--was exotic-pretty, just like the other. Maeve's gaze darted between the two. Were they really Rabbits? How could they be? How had this happened.
Were they all going to end up like that? New--things--bursting from the inside out, until they were all dead? And for what purpose? Where did the smoke creatures fall in the greater scheme? The whirlwinds? Maeve wondered if she would be able to uncover the truth before the same gruesome fate fell to her, if it came to that; she wouldn't think about what might happen. She wouldn't.
Shelby bolted, and Meave made an aborted move to chase him: "Wait-!" Too late.
Meave turned to the remaining group, sick with fear, but resolved. "I don't know what's going on...but it's best if we stick together--" her eyes flicked towards them; couldn't leave them, would have to keep an eye on them--"and keep moving. We find Shelby, check the last wing, and then we get out of here."

Yasmine didn't really have much time to process anything that was going on, nor really see anyone around her. It wasn't long after her arrival that she noticed something... off about herself. However, the Yarrow pulled herself up off the floor and began dusting her golden fur off.
Only to suddenly split moments after getting herself decently clean. It wasn't a particularly bad death for her, she felt a little discomfort and the smallest bit of pain before it was all over. The product her explosion was the one that received the worst of it.
When the Mid-Range doe first felt air against her damp fur she knew something horrible had happened and she'd been a large part of it. She got her footing on the slick floor and turned her head to gaze at what remained of her mother. No, this was all wrong.... so very, very wrong.
No.... I.... I'm so sorry.
She couldn't help it, tears slipped from her eyes and soaked into her cheek fur. Soon after her tears started her cuts began to ooze blood as well. This feeling was awful and... .why? That one word question kept repeating it's self in her mind.
She looked away from her mother and let her gaze travel over the others in the room before resting on Maeve. The look in the leveret's eyes just made her heart sink even more and she lowered her head. She hadn't meant for any of this to happen, they knew that right?

Oh.. now this was -too- good! The Doe gave a small smirk at the obvious distress of the newborn Doe, moving toward her slowly as she assessed the creature. So beautiful… Perhaps worthy of her own attention. They were like sisters! Something akin to a strange fondness could be felt toward the sobbing creature, and she laid a paw on her shoulder.
"There, there… no need to cry. Look what such a sacrifice hath wrought… Like sisters we are in beauty! And… I hardly think she suffered. She made a note to stare at the brain-splattered walls.
Layla shivered nearby, wide eyed. They.. had exploded. And creatures had stepped out from their dead bodies. Horrifying. Were they evil or perhaps only unfortunate births from unwilling mothers? She was quite sure the first doe was evil.. but this newest one seemed genuinely contrite by the atrocities she'd brought upon her mother.

((The Leverts' side of the Warren looks trashed. Someone has rifled horribly through it and nearly everything in the room is damaged...and something smells off...be careful...))

The whole situation was just too much for Brighid's mind to fully comprehend. She felt a piece of herself start to float away, as thought this was all some horrible dream. She stopped screaming abruptly and wiped the tears from her face. Looking at the corpse of one of her children, she realized the flesh was starting to disintegrate. She hiccuped a few times, probably from all the screaming and crying and well... all the stress.
Turning away from the disappearing body of the Leveret, Brighid noticed that another Doe had exploded in the room. Standing amidst the new flesh and blood mess was another full grown Doe. She suppressed the urge to laugh. The whole thing was so ridiculous! She hiccuped again.
She rubbed her paws against her ever swelling belly. "I'm going to be a Mother again." Her voice was light and airy, vacant of any emotion. "You, little one, are going to kill me aren't you?" That isn't very nice at all!" More hiccups.
The smell of something baking wafted under her nose and she turned her head towards the hall they had come from. Whatever it was smelled delicious. Maybe that's what was causing this horrible sensation in her stomach. She was just starved. Yes, that must be it.
Paying the other Rabbits in the room little attention, Brighid began to slowly hop out into the hall and followed the quickly retreating form of a Leveret to another room in the Warren. What a pig pen! The room appeared ransacked, items litered about everywhere. The Doe passed a few personal belongings, blankets, pillows... The Jack who ran this Warren would be furious when he realized what had happened here.
But where was the food? It didn't smell quite like something baking anymore, but Brighid was determined to find something to eat. Besides easing the pain she felt from her stomach, perhaps it would help her get rid of these bothersome hiccups!
"You there!" she called out to the Leveret who had ran here first. "Find me something to eat, will you?"
Without waiting for a reply, Brighid began nosing around the place. There was a pile of pillows stacked unceremoniously together on the floor, creating a makeshift resting place. Dragging her aching body to them, she flopped down and winced when she felt something sharp sticking into her side. Pulling the object out, she realized it was a long, thick candle. The wax was an amazing shade of blue; so bright and vivid. She looked around but realized finding a match in this mess of a room was highly unlikely.
"I know I smelled some food. Where is it?" she asked no one in particular.
Letting her gaze slowly slide around the room it was then she noticed an overturned serving table and a glint of silver next to it. Crossing the room to it she hiccuped right before realizing the silver was an overturned tray. Picking it up she cried out in glee at the sight of six danish rolls still unbroken upon the floor. Brighid picked one up, looked it over and popped the whole thing into her mouth. Of course it was no longer warm, but it was so good!

(Hey guys, I'm going to try and hop back in. I'm going to be able to get online everyday, even if only for a little bit. Sooo. . . sorry if me jumping back in is awkward and I'm really sorry I wasn't around more earlier!!) Dafina had been walking along in a daze. None of this could possibly be real? Only, she knew that it was and reality and her normally neutral disposition was quickly turning south. Her father, gone. But yet she had some comfort at the familiar presence of Jala, the little leveret her father had just acquired. But then things started going even worse than they had. Dafina was momentarily pleased to see her father's favourite Doe Yasmine. She had hardly had time to start to cheer up before things went WRONG. Everybody. . . everybody started exploding one by one. First Jala, than Yasmine, she couldn't handle it! Her whole Warren was one-by-one being destroyed. And then, that little leveret was suddenly swallowed from beneath. Dafina screamed, the first noise she had made during this entire ordeal, and backed up against the wall. Tears shimmered in her eyes as she waited for things to get worse. Anubis meanwhile, had been running full-out across the hill over which the shadow creatures had disappeared. He would find his Warren if he had to kill everything in his way to do it. He saw a Warren in the distance, past the sea of twitching sleeping bodies. Purposefully he strode forwards, maybe. . .he'd be able to find answers there.

Shelby didn't stop running until he practically tripped over a messed up rug in the Leveret's quarters, and he fumbled and nearly dropped his only weapon. Clutching it tight to his chest, he backed up against the wall and panted, hard, trying to regain his bearings and still his rapidly beating heart. He could feel his mind trying to escape into blackness, but he held on. If only because he feared if he passed out he'd never ever see home again.
The chances of him seeing home again were very slim anyway, but Shelby had to hold on to any faint sliver of hope. He had just calmed down and was beginning to look around the room, noticing that it was absolutely ripped apart, when suddenly the remaining Doe burst into the room, looking more than a little crazed. She yelled something at him, something about getting food, and the Leveret could only stare back at her, pressed flat against the wall, eyes wide and frightened.
He knew he should leap to obey the Doe, but how was he supposed to find her any food in this mess? And how could she possibly be hungry after seeing two other Rabbits EXPLODE? He watched in alarm as she went to eat some pastries off the ground. "U-uh, Miss, I...you shouldn't..." he stuttered, trying to get his feet to move. His grip on the letter opener was tight enough he was starting to lose feeling in his paws.

((A voice begins to echo quietly through the Warren...though there doesn't appear to be anyone available to be doing it...
"Pretty new ones...all mine, are theeeeyyyyy?" It hisses, almost seeming to twine through the ears of the listeners, regardless of the fact that there is no visible body to go with the voice. "And seeeervants...you'll keep my Does in check, won't you? Got to pay special attentionnnnn to the older onessss. A bit out of liiiine, they ca be."
The Leveret's quarters are large and though the bun devoured by Brighid was slightly stale...there was nothing wrong with it, it seems. Down the far tunnel...something starts to move toward the group, it cannot be seen but its presence can be felt. It's heading right for the Leveret that stands out to it... The one with the bladed tail...))

The nervous, twitching frown on Maeve's face felt as if it were permanently etched into her countenance. She didn't trust the First--the Second seemed honestly distressed, for all it could be an act--but the First had an air about her that set Maeve on edge. And then there was the hysteric Doe; Maeve hasn't tried to stop her when she had gone wandering off. There was no point trying to reason with that one. The winged Doe she gave a cautious prod, but Maeve made no other attempts to coerce her into following. It was better if they stayed together, but she couldn't force anyone, not really. Their total lack of sense made her want to scream.
Maeve headed into the Leverets' wing hoping to find Shelby; out of the lot left, that particular little Leveret was the most worthwhile, even with the panicking and running after with the whole...exploding...bit. Maeve could relate.
She found them in the kitchen--Shelby, and the hysteric Doe--and was pleased to see the other Leveret intact. Serving the whims of a mentally disconnected Doe, however, could wait, and she was just about to inform them both of that when she heard the Voice.
There was something in the Warran with them.
Maeve felt the world pitch under her feet, and felt the panic that had been writhing under the surface of her precarious control break.
There was something in the Warran with them.
"We need to get out of here." Was that her voice? She sounded--off. "We need to get out now." Too many walls, too many closed spaces, too many places to be trapped. Killed. Worse. It was already too late though, wasn't it.
She wouldn't run without the others. She wanted to, oh how she wanted too. But she didn't; she stayed where she was, numb with resolve. She wouldn't leave. Not without the rest. Even First and Second.
Mildly cursing this latent decency and caring for her fellow Rabbits, Maeve picked up the whetstone lying on the counter and began to sharpen her tail.

(realllly should find specific colours for my characters text lol)
Dafina was awakened from her blank stare at the gentle prod. Her eyes first turned to the leveret blankly, clearly stating that wherever Dafina was right now it was NOT home. Her own mother had been killed in front of her eyes. . .. Slowly the life began to creep bit by bit back into her face and she nodded at Maeve before following the leveret down the hallway. The last thing her mother would want would be for her to get injured. The last thing her father would want would be for her to be weak and useless. She shivered off the last of her immobility before hopping forwards. Funny how each step made her a little more nauseous.
And then, the voice. . . A shrill feeling of panic raced her through her, shrouding the sick feeling that had moments before threatened to crawl up her throat. At least adrenaline and fear had its place. . The doe caught herself musing, trying to fall out of reality again, and snapped herself back into awareness.
"What the hell was that?" She very quietly asked herself, though Maeve would be within hearing distance as well.
Anubis had just reached the Warren. As he placed his hand on the outer front door a feeling of dread washed over him but he shook it off. His Warren could be in here, trying to find a 'safe' place to hide. He needed to get them home. The Jack pushed open the door and started down the hallways.
