Since Nova and Lariel were still messing around with the doors, Eldy reluctantly went over to see what the odd little child was doing. He was apparently...gathering books into a purse. Ooookay. Not exactly what she'd think of as useful things during this situation. But just when she was about to say something, she felt a shape pain in the very tip of her tail, and hissed in surprise, twitching it wildly. Instead of stopping, the pain continued, getting worse as she felt her tail lengthening slowly. Horrified, Eldy turned to try and see the source...and could only stare as there was apparently a spike on the end of her tail.
She flattened her ear and let out a quiet mewl at the pain, and just when she was about to reach for her pain blocking ability to numb it, it abruptly stopped. And her tail suddenly snapped back to its usual length, the spike vanishing into it. "Well that was just frikkin' weird," the Feline muttered, swishing her tail. She stopped when she realized she had a new ability. Apparently she could make her tail do that again, if she wanted. Hopefully without the pain.
She frowned and pushed the knowledge to the back of her mind for now. And shivered, realizing the store had become abruptly colder. "Cal, stay close," she warned the child, and then looked around for the others, fur fluffing up a bit. She saw them over by the doors still...only one of them had become completely iced over. That was enough to snag Eldy's curiosity, and she moved towards it. She was so entranced that her distracted answer to Nova's question wasn't her usual snap. "No...not that I know of...Kamina is not this powerful..."
She came to a halt about three feet from the door and sat there staring at it as only a Feline can do, tail swishing.

'Not completely right in the head' was probably a charitable description of Cal, considering that he had spent the first 4 years of his childhood drugged in a cellar and his psyche had predictably suffered as a result. He looked up from the pig shaped salt shakers he was examining. (Ceramic pigs in chef's hats? What purpose?!? He had no concept of seasoning food, or even cooking it.)
Hm, there was Eldy, and her tail was doing something strange. She made a sad sort of noise, and Cal went over to her. He tilted his head to one side, birdlike, and looked at the suddenly pointy tail. He whimpered a little in sympathy and watched the tail spring suddenly back to it's original size. She was right: that was weird. He had never seen a tail do that before. It must be a kind of magic. "Hurts?
If she had been hurt, the pain didn't last, and she spoke a warning to him, which he obeyed. He had no particular allegiance to the feline, but there was no compelling reason not to listen, so he did. He slunk behind her, body lower to the ground than usual. Something strange was going on. Something stranger than the strange things that happened every day.
Two of the adults were staring at a closed door, which looked strangely shiny, as though it was wet. Cold, too, he could feel it starting to seep in under his coat. Cal didn't like cold, which usually happened at the same time as equally unpleasant dark and wet. The only good thing about cold was curling up with his brothers and sister and snuggling until they got warm again. That made cold almost, although still not quite, worth it.
He wandered over toward the chilly door and looked past Nova and Lariel to poke a taloned toe at it with keen-eyed suspicion. "Cat not have cold-making spell." He told them. The grown-ups were all staring at the door. It seemed like the thing to do, so Cal backed up a few steps, sat down, and stared at it too.

Lariel had been giving all her concentration to Nova and the door she hadn't heard the pain-filled mewl coming from Eldy as the new ability took hold of her for the first time. She was dimly aware of when the two approached them, also standing by to stare at the door which was now completely cased over in ice.
According to them, and they would certainly know, neither of the people they were looking for could do anything like this. Nova said it could be someone's power that waited behind the door. She looked at the fiery Canine and realized he wanted to open it. She was torn. On one hand it was a pretty impressive power to be able to cause something to freeze over like that with no water involved whatsoever. But on the other hand...
"Nova, if it is a power and there is someone inside, maybe they're doing this because they are frightened and don't want us coming in. What if we open the door and they have more abilities and decide to attack us?" she asked, motioning to Eldy and Cal. "Someone could get hurt. Are you sure you want to open it?"
There, she had given her reasons for not opening the door. Whatever Nova decided to do, it was off of her conscience. At least she could admit to herself that she too wished to know what or who was behind the door.
She took a few steps backwards, hoping the other two would follow her lead.

((At that moment ten of those ink-like blobs shoot out from under the ice crusted door. All of them surge forward, seeming to be aiming to head out of the shoppe. One of them, moving fastest, is colored blue, try your best to catch it, if you like, and we'll see how you managed. The icy door itself burst open with the speed of the things hurtling out the bottom and inside is an office, completely iced over...but maybe it's still worth exploring? There's a small table, two filing cabinets, a large rug rolled up in the corner that seems to be emitting a stale smell, for all that it's iced shut, and a small key, iced solid to the table, about 5 inches under... That's going to be hard to get to... The entire shoppe suddenly feels cold and the blobs of ink-like substance are shooting everywhere! They're quite speedy and their jelly-bodies can squeeze under almost anything. Good luck!))

((Lmfao, Nat. I luff you! Shooting everywhere makes me think of Flubber. XD))
Lariel didn't have too much time to wonder what was behind the door when suddenly it burst open and dark, little... THINGS came bursting out! She had a moment to realize this must have been the shadow she'd spied in the other office earlier before it had run out of the front door. Which was exactly where these other things seemed to be heading. The front door was now shut, but since they'd just slipped under this one they would probably slip under the other just as easy. At least they, whatever they were, would have to slightly slow down to be able to squeeze themselves through such a small opening.
Without realizing she was activating a new power, Lariel summoned her Silver Knife Ability. She'd only been concentrating on ways to slow those fast suckers down when all of a sudden it started raining, indoors! Not only was it raining... it was raining silver. The rain itself was only falling in the main section of the building - the room she herself was in. She watched as the silver started accumulated and crusting on the ink-blobs, slowing their movements.
In a matter of moments this had all taken place and the Bobcat, after realizing what had happened, activated her Powerful Magical Ability and felt her body rise effortlessly off the ground. Soaring above all the racks and shelves she had a straight line to the front door where all the blobs were heading. As she sped forward she thought she spied one of the blobs colored differently than the rest. It still hadn't made it's way to the front door, though it was getting close, thanks to the silver rain slowing it down.
Lariel pushed her flight ability to as fast as she cold go and dove straight for that oddly shaped blob, her clawed hands outstretched before her and ready to grab!
Silver Knife Ability: Once a week, this character is now able to cause a light silver rain to fall all around them, regardless of if they are inside or outside. It will rain up to an inch and anyone aside from herself caught in the rain will be "crusted" in silver, limiting their movement a bit, due to skin and fur sticking unpleasantly...until it can be picked off. Though if it's in fur, the fur will need to be shaved, sadly. The rain falls for about 5 minutes, and then stops
Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, she can fly for up to thirty minutes, without feeling tired...though it will make her extremely thirsty. Winged Diamonds can use this ability for effortless, perfectly controlled flight.

He didn't have to wait long to see what was behind the door, now did he? Things, little, odd things came shoot out from under it and spooked him enough to hop back, landing on one of the tables used to display stuff and knocking all the pots and pans on it to the floor. Ow. What the... what were those? They certainly weren't mice! And... shit... the door!
He lifted a hand up to cover his eyes when the door burst, protecting them from the splintered wood and only managing to acquire two or three under his skin in the process.
Well, the office wasn't going anywhere, he could always explore that after they dealt with whatever was scurrying all around the room. He turned and hopped off the table, grabbing one of the bigger pots and it's lid, and took off toward the front of the store to try and catch the little blobs. But Cal and Eldy certainly should be left out of the fun, should they?
Grab something guys, try and get them!
The blue one seemed to be the leader, if they had one... it was a different color anyhow, so they should probably focus on that one, right? He narrowed his eyes and focused on it as he ran through the store, pot raised and ready before he leaped, hoping his bracer would come in handy again even if the desire to kill wasn't there... he just wanted to catch it ....
Xylus's Bracers: These leather bracers once belonged to a great hunter, he never missed a shot... He swore by these wonderful bracers, saying that they improved his vision and made him become more in tune with the prey he was hunting. The wearer is cautioned against keeping them on too long, however... Being in tune with what you wish to kill can have disastrous effects on the mind...

((The blue blob darts under the nearby row of shelves, just evading the Bobcat's claws and the pot. As...strangely enough, the blobs rained on with the silver, 5 of them, slowly dissolve into silver dust. Leaving 4 regular ones and the elusive blue one moving and whole.
Nova's pot, however, manages to slam down over one of the remaining regular blobs! It's about as long as a Human palm, black, slick, oily, and smells strongly of ink. Once the thing is securely trapped, it seems to liquefy, becoming a puddle and rippling slightly every now and then...))

Cal startled violently as the door shattered outward. He let out a bit of a screech that soon turned into a rather creepy, manic giggle as rubbery-looking things bounced wildly around the room. Something to chase! Although he didn't know what the swiftly moving shapes were, or what the result of catching one would be, he simply couldn't resist trying. Besides eating "special meat" and getting a new book, chasing was his favorite thing ever! The young hybrid bounded after a speedy blob, pouncing with out-stretched claws. When it wriggled under a lamp, Cal swiped the object aside, sending it crashing to the side.
Immediately the blob was on the move again. Against all expectations, the thing seemed to be gaining speed as it bounced about. His quarry was getting away! "Squishy-thing, stay still!" Cal hissed, pouncing again. He had managed to drive the thing under a table, and he dove under as well, wriggling his way past a cow-shaped gravy boat and knocking his hip against a stack of empty biscuit tins that clattered loudly as they fell, some rolling across the floor in haphazard paths. He thrashed about beneath the green-painted wooden table, effectively clearing it of things the bouncy blob could hide under. It was either a clever strategy or a an overenthusiastic child's aimless flailing, but it it did seem to be doing the trick.
Being under the table also had the happy side effect of preventing his coat from being coated by the silvery rain, which he would surely have appreciated if he had been able to focus on anything aside from his novel and challenging 'prey'. It was a sneaky, quick little thing, and he wanted to see what it was made of. Maybe it was made of meat, some new kind of food. It didn't smell like a food right now, but maybe if he opened it up... The city was full of new foods and he enjoyed tasting different things, even though some of them had made him quite sick.
If he was lucky, the fast thing was a kind of food that would taste good and not make him sick. He would have to be lucky to even catch it, lucky and fast... he darted out a taloned foot to block off the inky thing's escape path. Oh, no, no getting away, you shall be food meat for Cal and for Cat...
He almost had it cornered - quick! - find a way to trap it, it will slip between claws! In a flash of inspiration, Cal drew out the magnifying glass and tried to bring it down on the blob, hoping that it might be trapped in the small flat space under the glass formed by the brass ring that surrounded the lens. If it wasn't able to be flat enough to fit already, it might be squished flat enough.
Trapped would be nice, since then he could play with the blobby-thing more before he tasted it, but squished would be okay with Cal, too.

Eldy's ear went back and she narrowed her eyes at Lariel. What was the woman trying to insinuate? That she couldn't take care of herself? Eldy was a full adult, and she'd been in far more dangerous situations than some stupid door icing over! She opened her mouth to say something stupid, but was luckily interrupted before she could get any words out by several small, dark objects darting out under the door. "What the HELL?" she hissed, fluffing up instantly. "Okay, those aren't rats at all," she said, fur slowly going back to normal as she watched the strange gooey blobs shoot for the door out of the shop. Of course, at about the same instant, the door exploded outward in a blast of frozen splinters, and Eldy's quick reflexes saved her as she rolled out of the way, hearing a few splinters ding dully off her iron ball.
She nodded to Nova and was about to look for something to trap one of the blobs with, tail lashing, when she felt something land on her nose. Something that stuck there, dried and crusted in her fur like dried mud. Another drop hit her on her back, and she backed up, looking around wildly, fur fluffing up a bit as what seemed to be gleaming silver drops of rain were falling in the shop. "Suits," she hissed, pawing at the spots she'd gotten silver on, but it was stuck fast in the fur. She backed up into the frozen, office, where there didn't seem to be any weird rain, frowning.
Just great. Fine, they could all run around and destroy the shop looking for living ink blobs in the silver rain. SHE was going to stay in here and...something caught her eye and she turned, taking a good look around the office for the first time. Her ear perked, noting that the entire thing was frozen in glittering ice. She shivered a bit as her paws padded over the cold floor, heading for the desk. There was a key...but it was completely trapped under several layers of ice. She tested it with a claw, but barely made a dent in the surface...
No, she'd need something else...fire? She glanced back out to the shop, still in chaos with everyone running around like nuts. She didn't bother calling out; they would pay her no mind she knew. Casting her glance about near the doorway, she found a ratty old umbrella and, with a bit of efforts, got it open. This should protect her from the silver, then. Though as the thing got crusted with the odd substance, it, too, got heavy. Eldy held it up and walked out into the main shop.

((Cal's merry chase landed him quite a bit of mess and he seems to have trapped one of the blobs under the magnifying glass lens! Good job, Cal...careful with it, though, it's making the the glass shake pretty severely... Eldy, on the other hand, got a good look at the key and has rightly assessed that it'll take some digging out...and...somehting is following her! It's huge and seems to be shaped like some monstrous...Dog...Bird? It ducks into the shadows and seems to vanish back into the key-office once spotted, though..))
