Eldy stared for another moment at the colorful Bipeds. They seemed to be...coming closer. Crap. They weren't really going to try and interact with her, were they? The last thing she needed right now was more weirdos, considering the one she was trying to find and the one chattering at her, having followed her up onto the roof. Great. Wonderful. She turned to give him an odd look, which befit him as an odd child. "I have no f***ing clue what you just said to me," she told him, and considered melting into the shadows.
Just because she babysat her sister's kids for her didn't mean she was some bleeding heart that would take every charity case that came her way. Her ear pressed back, and she called the ability to mind, though she hesitated on using it. It would mean leaving her bindings behind, and who knew what the weird child might do with her ball-and-chain? The moment of hesitation cost her, as there was suddenly another voice calling to her. Eldy jumped, fluffing up all over in surprise. She turned, and groaned under her breath. "You have to be kidding me," she muttered. The two Bipeds were almost right below her, and the one that looked like a set of paints had exploded all over him was trying to get her attention. She had half a mind to say 'no' and be done with it. Or, even better, to stick the weird little Cannibal with the sister-name-is-Cat to their care.
But she had to admit...she had no idea where Kamina was. With a sigh, she turned and peered over the edge of the roof. "Eh, sure, why not," she called, and then glanced back at the child. "We can find your sister, too. What's your name, kid?"
((OOC: I am sorry she's so unbelievably pissy. XD;; ))

Lariel followed Nova's gaze upwards and raised her eyebrows once she spotted the Torquehelm on the fire escape. Well, it certainly was a way to get a better view of the area if you were looking for someone. She watched in confusion as the woman said something in a volume that she couldn't hear.
Turning to Nova she asked, "Can you see if there is someone else up there with her?"
With how weird things were turning out to be moment by moment, she didn't want any more unpleasant surprises. Pulling on his arm gently, Lariel moved her mouth next to Nova's ear and whispered, "I know you want to help her, but just keep your eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. Just in case. Something around here isn't right..."
Was it just her imagination, or was the smell of spices and... and...- ugh, whatever the hell that was -, getting stronger?

Cal gave Eldy an odd look back, although due to his blank, cloudy eyes, pretty much all of his looks were odd, and there was a good chance Eldy would not notice anything much different about this one. She couldn't understand him, and yet she had used a word he had never seen in any of his books! This was exciting, and would merit a search in the dictionary when he got back to the box-home. The dictionary was one of his favorite books, and had certainly been the hardest to sneak out of the shop, given its size.
He was just about to repeat what he had previously told the cat, only louder, slower, and using smaller words (if that was even possible), but fortunatly for both Cal and Eldy, a voice from the street below inturrupted. As he went to edge of the fire escape to see who had been yelling, the child would become visible to the cards on the sidewalk below.
One of them had looks of spiky-looking bits, and the other had fire. That was interesting, although not as interesting as his friend from the wood who was partly invisiable and floaty. he watched the pair of bipeds carefully until Eldy spoke to him. Oh, so she did understand what he had said, or at least the important part of it.
"Oh good." Social niceties were mostly lost on Cal, but his tone was genuinely thankful, both for the help in finding his sister and that he didn't need to explain himself again. He smiled happily in a way that would probably have looked adorable on the face of a more attractive child.
"Name is Cal." He told her cheerfully, mindful of what his floaty friend Kafziel had said about sharing his full name with 'outsiders'. He still wasn't entirely sure what made some cards outsiders and others not, but this one who used not-book-words and had a metal thing hanging from her foot for no discernable purpose probably fit the bill. "Your name?"

Eldy had a rather dirty mouth when she was upset, and being around children didn't register as a reason to try and change her natural way of speech. She didn't care in the least if she'd just taught a four-year-old a bad word. Peaches would probably have been amused. She noticed that the female Biped with weird fin-like things sticking up all over her was giving her a suspicious look, so she gave one right back. At least Eldy was a fairly normal example of her Realm, missing ear aside. It wasn't like -she- was the one to try and contact them first!
She turned back to Cal, as his name apparently was, and nodded, taking a deep breath (of unfortunately awful-smelling air) and trying to calm down a little. Her rather prickly attitude wasn't going to help her find her niece. "Eldryia, or Eldy if you prefer," she told him, and then turned abruptly to make her way back down the fire escape and towards those down on the street. She was sure the strange little child would follow.

Casanova was terribly amused by Lariel's suspicions toward the feline. She looked more normal and harmless then half his family did, especially the extended family he had through his Majesty Aderlass. Well, he considered the Queen and all his palace raised spawn to be family anyhow.... the Queen definitely had been like another father figure for him growing up. But he supposed the bobcat had her reasons and it just might be extra helpful at some point for one of them not to be as trusting.
However, strangers were still just friends who didn't know it yet to the canine and, despite her tone, a wide, toothy grin broke on his muzzle as he wagged his tail in a cheerful manner. When Cal peered over the edge as well he pointed at the little mix, who had a face like his dearest little brother, and spoke with amusement in his tone.
Sure do.
He stepped toward the fire escape and stopped in a close enough distance to be friendly, but also give them enough space to get down and not feel crowded.
Casanova, but Nova is what most people call me. Nice to make your acquaintances.
He gave Lariel time to make her introductions before going to the subject at hand.
So tell me a bit about the two we're looking for, Kamina and Cat.

"Eldy." The boy said. Since he was only giving part of his name to the feline, it seemed only right that she should do the same. He smiled and followed her.
When he hopped off the bottom of the fire escape and landed with a little 'oof!' sound, Cal was still smiling. Even more people who wanted to help him find Cat! He introduced himself to them in his usually stilted fashion and then tried to describe his sister in ways they would understand. "Cat looks like me. Called 'twins', I think. Also looks like brothers." That was probably unhelpful, since Fiasco and Hereliescaptainunderwood were nowhere in sight. They were most likely fine, hiding wherever they could find a meal or a warm corner to curl up. Cal didn't worry about them like he did about Cat, who often got lost when she went into one of her glassy-eyed dreamlike states.
"Cat get mind-lost sometimes." He explained, a bit apologetically. It was terribly nice that all these cards wanted to help him get his sister back.

Eldy leaped gracefully to the ground, though her metal ball made a dull thud as it hit the stone. She looked up at the very colorful Biped, Nova. At least he was friendly, though he was lucky he didn't run into someone more dangerous than she was. The Feline introduced herself again to the two Bipeds, and then let Cal speak first. So they were looking for another little cannibal? Good to know. If they found any chewed-on bodies they'd know they were on the right track. It was a very morbid thought, but Eldy actually was struck by the strange urge to laugh.
She shook it off and frowned. How to describe her niece? "She's...really weird looking," was a good start. "Feline, Bog-Torque mix, has a really weird-ass hookah growing out of her back. Breathes out gases that make ya light headed." A pause, and she wrinkled her nose. "They...don't smell like whatever this is in the air right now, before you ask. And she also, same as Cat, wanders around in la-la land half the time." That should about cover it. Eldy sighed, her remaining ear twitching fitfully. This was just...not a good day, and she had a feeling it was going to get even weirder.

((All of the shoppes appear deserted...though a few have doors hanging off the hinges... Two in fact; one looks like a Goodwill and the other appears to be some sort of old chinaware store. No lights on out here though... Eew, wow, that horrible smell seems to be getting worse... What could it be and what will you all do? It seems a good idea to stay together, however odd the group may be...))

Lariel watched the two animal forms climb down the fire escape and had to admit they did it rather well with such limited mobility. She remembered how hard simple, every day tasks had been when she'd been on four legs with no hands. Still, the Animal Form came in handy now and again, but Lariel found herself almost always in BiPed mode.
"The name's Lariel," she said, waiting until the two of them were close enough to hear. Cal and Eldy, she thought to herself and attempting to memorize the names. Eldy was a bit snotty, but she could hold her own. Lariel respected her for that. Cal was.. well, a little off. La la land, Eldy said. Maybe Cal was a little more like this Cat sister than he knew. What odd eyes... Is he blind? No, he seemed to be focusing on them individually. The look of him, though he seemed jovial and nice enough, sent a very small shiver down her spine.
Lariel had automatically turned her head to look down the alleyway after the descriptions of the missing siblings had been given, though chances that they had suddenly shown up were slim. It was then that she noticed a few shoppes with the entry doors leaning crooked off their hinges. The Bobcat's fins twitched in unconscious agitation and she took a step towards the Goodwill store.
"Sorry to interrupt, but look at those doors over there," she said, pointing. "Maybe we should check them out in case your family members went in there?"

as much as splitting up into two groups of two and looking through empty buildings seemed like a better occupation of time, something in the back of his mind suggested that they stick together on this one and check each building as a whole. Something was definitely weird about today and he didn't fancy having to find anyone's relatives and inform them of their loved one's demise or injury. He'd do it if he had to, families had the right to know these things, but he'd rather be safe. Safe and away from whatever that awful smell was.
sounds like a good starting point, they're the only ones with doors that are obviously unlocked.
He went a long with Lariel's idea of the first building to search, goodwill, eh? Yeah, that might be a fun place for kids to run around unattended. There was lots of stuff in them generally, and a variety within the amount as well. He'd never been aloud into stores like this as a kid, something about being a fire hazard or what not, so this might even be fun for him if nothing else.
Make sure to tell us if you smell your Kamina, since you said she isn't the source of... whatever this is. You'll be the best detector, Eldy.
He turned his head and flashed the feline a charming, toothy grin before placing his eyes back on the path ahead. He'd try his best to melt all that ice on their little adventure to. She didn't seem that bad, or was he giving her too much credit?
