Alohilani was pleased with her work, and even more pleased that the two males kept their mouths shut. Good, good, she liked it when everyone was cooperative. The change of location seemed to ease the screams of the little ones a bit, room to stretch and a little more comfortable she imagined.... the little deer even looked like it was going to try and sleep some more if it's siblings shut up and stopped wiggling about. The highland weasel was, by farm the wiggliest of the bunch and nipped at his brother's ear, rolling around happily and batting at the ribbons around the other boys neck with his non-nibbled paw.... quite a happy little guy for looking so close to starving. Whatever.
While they were staring at the Ace, Lohi decided to repay them for their obedience and trot-limped over to each and gave them a lick on the cheek with her sandpaper-esque tongue. There, the best reward she could give them. Her ears perked at their request, she was no doctor.... but she'd try.
If you boys go get the supplies for me, I'd be happy to help. I'm not as fast as you two.
She gestured to her bandaged shoulder, which had an ever darkening stain on the gauze from over working the limb too soon. She didn't fancy making it bleed a third time, she was likely to start getting dizzy if she wasn't careful.

The teenager’s huffy words were ignored. There wasn’t much he could do to change her mind about him or the situation. He was sure that most of her acting out was fear and a despairing need to have some semblance of normalcy. As a talking, intelligent Ace, Emery could provide neither of those things.
Instead, he focused on the Jossigy man with a Marsh accent. Gripping his poker in hand, the man merely introduced himself, wished him well and slunk out the door as fast as his battered body would take him. Emery only had time to stutter his name. He had said he wanted to stop this…
The children turned to stare at him from their cowering positions, then the young lab asked the all-too-important question.
You can’t, can you? All I ask is that you judge me for my current actions. I haven’t brought harm to you and I brought you here to safety. If that’s not good enough, then there’s nothing I can do to make you see otherwise. I’m an Ace – I have no loyalties except for what few friends I have. All I know is that what’s going on out there is wrong.
He hopped gingerly over to the door and bolted it, gritting his teeth against the pain shooting from his tail. It managed to thwack against the floor of the shop every time he moved. He placed his poker and makeshift shield on the floor and tiptoed gingerly around the counter in search of the first aid kit. Grabbing a couple of skinny cheese boards, he placed his tail between the two and wrapped his broken tail with gauze and made a sling so his tail wouldn’t hit the floor, then popped a couple pain relievers from a flask.
Look, the Ace said, reappearing from behind the counter to look at the children. Not all Jossigies are bad, just as not all Lowlanders are good. Even you lot have prejudices – most of you are boggled that I can even talk. And that’s stayed with you, even when you’re seeing people getting burned and murdered. That’s not right. He handed the first aid kit over to the girl who’d given him lip. Here, you look like you have a gentle touch, can you help get everyone patched up?
Emery looked toward the Torque, who was busying himself making food for everyone. The corners of his mouth twitched in disbelief and amusement. How could anyone think of food at a time like this? Yet… there was something to be said for calming the children with a bite to eat.
He grated his beak together, an internal debate raging within him. He felt he had a duty to these children, but he also couldn’t forgive himself if he just stood idly by while all those people slaughtered each other. With a start, he also realized he didn’t know whether Alohilani and the others had made it to safety. He had to find out.
Look, Mister…he let the sentence hang, allowing the Torque feline to supply his name. He repeated it once spoken and continued, I have friends out there – they were injured. I have to find out whether they’re okay, and I have to try and stop this.
The Villa/Highlander looked back to the children. I need you all to stay here with this fellow. He’s going to make you all a snack and look after you. There’s an alarm spell on this place, I know how to set it.
He had watched the deli owner set it a million times – he had learned it so he could get in to nip some food after closing hours. The man who owned the place must have forgotten to in his rush to get out of the city.
It’ll repel intruders and the building will wail. If anyone tries anything funny, I’ll hear it, even from the battle ground, and I’ll come back.
The Ace gathered up his poker and makeshift shield and made for the door, then turned around. His eyes found the Labrador boy.
Dan? I’m Emery. Don’t let anyone in here, not unless they say I sent them – and make sure they mention my name. Lock the door after I’m gone. Oh - and leave me a sandwich, okay?
He winked and bolted out the door.

Suddenly the Resta woman was beside Evan, lashing out even as Trix plunged after her target. The Hellhound shrieked with rage and pain as the sword slashed with wild abandon. (2) There was only just enough time to keep from impaling herself on the woman's weapon, but the wounds were deep and every movement hurt. She kept on despite the pain, knowing that this fight had to end soon but her blood loss was going to start catching up with her soon. The dagger nicked her right ear on its way down, slicing the tip clean off (8) before Trix could dodge out of the way. Trix was moving in accordance with Gaurin's call before she even realized what was going on (13 for dodge), swinging around in time to see his arm flying off the rest of the way. She lunged in to draw the woman away from Gaurin once more and received a sharp swipe down her back that made her yowl and jerked back in horror to see a flurry of fur as her sword cut through the thick fluff on her tail. (9 for defense) And then Cale was there and just as quickly Death himself slammed into the fray. Resta was distracted, Evan was all but gored. Trix could've laughed or maybe she did, she couldn't be entirely sure if the sound made it past her lips before the ferret mix came hollering into the mess. Her head lowered, teeth bared. Gaurin got him first, knocking him flat on his arse with the Wolf... She barely heard the words the bloody bastards said, but there was very suddenly a shrieking child between her and them. Her eyes narrowed before catching the brow of his coat and going wide. "What are you doing! Get out of the way! This is a war, kid!"---- Ichigo had collapsed. There was no way they were going to make it far... Nethan's heart wrenched but it was for the best. Vanja would guard him and he... He had to help. He nodded when Othello spoke, thankful that someone shared his stupidity just then and rushed out into the battlefield with the Torque-mix. Othello was between them in a flash, metallic arm to protect him as Nethan skidded up beside the fallen Josiggies seconds after. No matter who started this war, no matter how crazy their boss was, none of it mattered if they had surrendered. Infusing his words with diamond charm he tried to sound as confident as possible. (11) "War or not, they surrendered! Go after the woman still fighting if you must!" He motioned toward Resta and Cale only to flinch in horror at the sight of the strange demon bursting forth from the weasel to launch itself at the mad Josiggy. By the grace of Odom, what was that!? He jerked his attention back to the Josiggies and dropped his voice low with the hopes that Othello was distracting the Lowlanders. "Evan, the shop we came from. If you can get back that way Vanja will help. We'll do what we can to hold them off."Basic Magical Ability: He can act charismatic and persuasive at times, whether or not he actually has the natural charm and grace to pull it off.
Remi popped up beside the injured men from almost out of nowhere, apparently having taken his time to arrive, and grinned cheerfully. "Poor luck, Evan." He murmured before almost frolicking into the mess. He'd stay far from the whirling fight between Cale and Resta, but happily began to scour the battlefield. So much blood, heh, and he found the Bird Lowlander's arm. He plucked it up and waved cheerfully to the man with his own arm and that rather off smile of his. Even as he waved the arm about he noticed a human arm nearby and his fur ruffled cheerfully. Even better! He dropped the filthy arm and scampered to snatch it up and add that one to his collection.

(( OOC: <3 Lucca said to assume that Arkady is following since she might not have time to post. )) Rosewood didn't argue with Arkady, even though he honestly wanted the boy to stay with everyone else. He gave the boy a light pat on the head and they were off. To hell apparently. The swan stopped at the edge of the alleyway, staring at all the chaos. With his luck, Cale was someone important and probably half dead. He let out a small distressed honk as he tried to figure out what to do. He wanted to run, but giving up at a time like this didn't seem like the best course of action. He was already here, he already felt like crap. He took several deep breaths. "I'm going to do something stupid, so it'd probably be best not to follow."Grab the nearest Lowlander and ask them what the hell was happening. Sounded good in his head. The swan watched as a set of boys seemed to be defending Josssiggy's from Lowlanders. Or something. His feathers fluffed out for a moment before he made his way out of the alley way and towards the the Lowlander Canine (Trix) who was screaming that this was a war (18). Great. "You! Woman!" He said "Where the hell is Cale? I have a message from his brother!"

((Morpheus didn't evade the sword swings as well as he might have liked (18), and was given quite a fetching scar down his chest as a result; fortunately it's shallow and shouldn't be too difficult to heal. Too bad the same can't be said for Resta.
The scream that rang across the plaza turned battlefield, caused the two Humans to snap their heads toward the noise. The thing suddenly surging through the area, sucking all light out of everything directly around it, made all but its claws and thin body indiscernible. Resta let out a screech of fear, before the thing latched onto her sword arm and began to tear it apart with reckless abandon. The sword, not being a summoned weapon, simply fumbled from her tightly grasped hands, into her left hand alone, as the Josiggy raised the blade and hacked feverishly at the demon and Cale both, her teeth grinding and her eyes so wide that she looked entirely possessed. "I don't care about your monsters! I came here to die, you'll go too!" Cale's yell of triumph at the appearance of Morpheus's demon was cut off as Resta's sword punctured his side. (15 vs. 6) It went deep. Too deep, he gasped and retaliated, slicing upwards at the shoulder the monster was mauling and getting in a good hit against bone (13 vs. 3), both screaming and lashing out at one another with renewed gusto, and Resta's blind panic and hatred; they continued to battle on.
Gaurin reeled from the sudden attack to his face. He hadn't even had the time to look up at the sound of running paws and an odd clanking noise, before his eyes began to sting painfully. Grabbing for the creature, he shook whatever it was as his eyes seemed to be drying out of his head. (18 vs. your 10. Sorry, but effective nonetheless) "Stop it! Stop it, y'hear me! What th'feck y'doin'?!?" Dropping the kid, he felt the magic sizzle as the pain began to abate. The Bird mix flinched as though expecting another attack...only to see a boy, a teenager with nasty buck teeth standing before them. Some kinda Torque mix? Was the brown...? "What're yeh doin' out here boy!? They'll kill yeh, are'y insane?!"
The kid's lisp was enough to make Gaurin's beak ends to curl down. "Boy? This 'ere's war. They's killed an 'undred kids like you since this time yesterday." He gave a shuddering gasp as his movements jarred the place where his arm had been and his side... He gave the kid a flat look. "Y'can't let murderin' scum like this lot go! They'll be killin' you next!" He screeched, slamming the pike through the boy's legs (18) and into Evan's side. The Wolf gasped loudly, as the weapon found something vital and then slipped through it. His working arm slipped and he slumped over on the ground, panting, eyes lingering on the kid. "You should run." He whispered, as Rigsy gingerly lifted the Wolf's head into his lap and looked at the ground, expecting death at any moment.
The odd Deer caught the group up and spoke his piece even as Evan rolled his eye pitifully in the direction of the Ferret, not picking up on anything besides his name and a note of familiarity. Rigsy gave the black and white man a small smile. "You'd be best not t-" He began before Gaurin let out a shout of frustration and rage. The Ferret had just waved at him with his own bloody arm! "Oh, 's that how it is?!" Trix, come on, gotta get t'Cale 'n find your pack leader. They're tryin' to hold us up!"[/color] He shouted, managing to yank the polearm back out of Evan's side and taking a swing at Rigsy. (5) The Josiggy ducked and gasped at the pain it caused him, before slowly trying to inch backward, dragging the Wolf with him. Evan mumbled something about leaving and Rigsy just smacked him lightly on the muzzle. "Shut it, you. We're fine, see? Jus' fine." Gaurin hauled himself up, trying to brace Trix f she needed it...she didn't look too great. Neither did he. "For th' kids." He snarled, managing a quicker dodge around the small crowd than he might have imagined himself (17) and stabbing the pole arm down (14 vs. 6). It went straight into Evan's chest and the twisted cruelly. He grinned manically, and then the group was scattered as the still rampaging form of Death incarnate slammed into all of them. Having recovered from his charge, he'd slammed into the group full force (20 for you, Xenon) right after a Swan appeared and tried to yell something off to the side. The major force was taken by Evan, who died whining in fear as the teeth sought out his throat to rip his head clean off his body, the Crocodile mix's tail whipping out at Trix and Gaurin (8). Rigsy had managed to shove himself backward, trembling and staring, wide eyed as the monster in front of him, tore his comrade to shreds.
In the Barber's shoppe, Karrock seems to have found a good little stash of bottles with labels that bespeak of healing properties! Perhaps they can save the Chicken's leg! He also seems to have found another little bottle...can't hurt to take it, right?
Style Potion: Oooh! A style potion from Mr. Todd's Barber shoppe! Who knows what it does... This item is not automatically assigned and can be traded or used later on anyone.
The Lowland children all stopped to look at Menefer as he began to move about cooking implements. They looked completely nonplussed. With one exception. The little Crow chirped happily and struggled away from the older kids over to the Cat, she gave him an adoring gaze and struggled to lift her fluffy wings high enough over her head to hand him a stick of butter. "Wanna butter!" She said, happily. Emery's words caused a few rumbles of resentful mutterings; not only were they in danger, and standing in an abandoned shoppe with a huge fight outside and no clue where their parents were, and Ace was talking down to them. Some of the teens began to look rather unpleasantly mutinous. The Feline who had mouthed off to him snatched the bandages with unnecessary roughness and set about trying to wrap them with mild knowledge about the craft, about the leg of a gangling Polecat mix. The little Lab girl gave the Ace a quiet "Ok, Emery." and Dan nodded stiffly to him. "Yes, sir." He muttered, embarrassed to be using the suffix for an Ace...but he'd seemed to deserve it somehow...
Outside, Resta's screams reached a fever pitch as the demon mauling her managed to take her arm off completely. Cale slammed his sword into her leg with a triumphant shout, and the woman vanished. "Damn it!" He howled, sword still swinging reflexively as he panted for air, chest painfully tight as he waited. She was on him again in seconds, her sword slamming into him and out through the front of his chest as he stared down at it in shock. (1 vs. 11) "How does it feel? Howdoesitfeeel I- AAAAuuuggghh!" Marisa was on her again and she vanished once more, leaving the demon to stalk about in fury, and Cale to bleed and gasp on one knee. Fury and determination written plainly in the ugly lines drawn tight on his bleeding face.))[/i]

(hopefully I didn't misinterpret Gaurin's actions, Rosewood's post will be done later)
Othello gave a little yelp when the man shook him. Well, he didn't know what to expect. He had hoped that something would have gone better than this. "It has to end thomewhere!" he shrieked right before the man aimed between his legs and stabbed Evan.
His eyes went wide with terror. This wasn't--this wasn't how people were supposed to act. He heard the whisper and felt tears trying to sneak out of his face. No. He couldn't run. This wasn't fair, he had to try and help.
He didn't know what to do, his pain ability hadn't stopped the man and he couldn't use it again. He watched in horror as he pulled the weapon out of the man and swung at Rigsy.
He went to act, and then a monster crashed into the entire group. She yowled, when he hit the ground, catching sight of the crocodile mix tearing Evan's head clean off.
He couldn't just sit there.
Getting up (17) the cat-coyote mix panicked and grabbed Rigsy by the back of his vest with his mouth, accidentally grabbing fur as well, and tried to drag him out of the of the fray back towards the Mirror shop using the only ability he could think of(17).
Moderate Ability: Once a week, this SD is now able to cause small bridges to form out of any cluttered objects lying around. They will only carry him and one other person he is carrying, and will hold him regardless of how flimsy it may appear. It will drop anyone he isn't bringing purposefully regardless of how sturdy it may seem. These bridges cannot extend further than 100 feet, and if he wants them to go further than they can, they will simply end in mid-air. The bridges will last an hour before simply collapsing on their own, though they can be torn down by Cards ranked 8 or higher, or 100 point spells.

Emery wasn’t bothered by the murderous glares in the least. People tended to react to him in only a couple of ways, disgusted hatred or oozing sympathy. These looks were nothing, besides, they looked more like the disgruntled rage of a young person not liking what they were told, rather than anything he actually had said. Anyway, he had done right by them and if they couldn’t see that well then… they were still safe, on any account. He waited until he received confirmation from the bizarre-looking Torquehelm, a smiling hovering around his mouth as a little crow ambled over to help him. Nodding solemnly to Dan and his little sister, he left the group, waiting until he heard the deadbolt lock before leaving. He loped down the road as fast as his fisher bird feet would take him, gritting his teeth as hard as he could, trying to ignore the pangs in his tail as he bounded down toward the battle. The scene before his eyes was a gruesome one as he stopped just on the outskirts of the main fray. Everyone looked terrible. Missing limbs, deep gashes and punctures. How were these people even still standing? Nope, there was that wolf that had broken his tail earlier, his head held by the Jossigy Rigsy. There were shrieks of surrender, but both sides seemed equally intent on butchering their opponents. Suddenly, a bucktoothed child barreled into the mess, shrieking about surrendering, followed by a strange-looking biped of some sort. He reeled with shock. What… Then a large biped swan loped out of nowhere, head stitched and arm in a splint. What the hell did he think he was doing and unarmed?! From behind the corner of the side building, a young Solandrian trotted warily, followed by a sulking Villa with a bandaged arm and an odd blade in the other. Yeah, okay. There were young people and children mixed up in this mess, and he still hadn’t any answers. He’d had enough. He unleashed his ability. Thin White Cord: This cord looks as though it was once used as a bell pull. Stains from old brass are visible on one end and the other is ragged, fine, and soft. It tingles a little when touched and smells a bit like sulfur. Once touched, the SD in question will find that they are now able to cause a wall of white flowers, dogwood trees, and a small meadow to burst into being for 80 feet around themselves once a week. The meadow is then affixed where it spontaneously grew until it is either removed or dies due to poor placement (such as being inside.) Anyone touching this random meadow will hear the soft ringing of many large bells in the distance and any Cards ranked King of below will be unable to summon any weaponry or any sense of malice while touching it. Fire, unless from a weapon or spell marked up with 200p or more, will not damage the meadow and acid spells are repelled entirely.-------------------------------------------------- Farran trudged along after the others, not having any desire to go anywhere near where bright lights and loud, horrible noises were coming from. They’d just endured something awful and all he wanted to do was go home. Go to a doctor, maybe, and then go home and lay in his bed for a week. He shifted uneasily, realizing that his work still wouldn’t be done. Rosewood had said he would talk to his husband’s uncle. When would this nightmare be over? The rounded a corner where he stopped abruptly. What. The. Fuck. There were dead bodies and pieces everywhere, people screaming and flying at each other with claws and blades. There was a furry, antlered crocodile thing charging around, bellowing like a wild animal. And blood. Everywhere. A croaky mew escaped the Villa as the Tulgey warned them about what he was going to do. Snapping out of it, Farran lunged forward to stop the man, but it was too late. He’d already jumped into the middle of things. Looking across the battlefield, he saw an Ace staring at the scene, then close its eyes in concentration as... were those trees sprouting? What. the. hell. He awkwardly brandishing his scalpel and flattened himself against the side of the building, away from the main scene. Eyes bugging and mouth hung open in shock, he turned to the King.
Arkady… I think we should stay here….((Uh... Emery rolled a 5 for his spell... soo.. um... bugger?))

((Due to the spell's 5 roll, it affects only Rigsy as he leaves (he was all ready feeling pretty peaceful, if UPSET and SAD; Rosewood, Gaurin, and Morpheus. Mo can ignore it a little if he tries. <3))
Forgot: It affects Xenon's "Death" too.!!!!

He was quite proud of his Maraisa, she fighting well today. He touched the new wound he hadn't quite noticed until now before hoisting himself to his feet again. He used the demon's distractive nature to fully collect himself and his weapon once more. After Resta dissappeared again he moved to Cale once more and breifly rested his hand on the man's shoulder to be as reassuring as he poossibly could. Cale wasn't doing so anymore. "Come on Resta, fight someone who wasn't already exhausted. You liked my trick before, right? I've got some more you might enjoy." He eyed the empty expanse with a glare, his jack's ability at the ready should she appear again. If he got even half a chance he'd use it to tell her a lie along the lines that the jossiggy were her enemies, not them. His ears swiveled as he tried to locate her even as an odd spell tried to pull at his mind. (Had to post from my phone, sorry it sucks!)
