Both Karrock and Orin flushed slightly at the unexpected affectionate gesture, glancing at each other in such a way that it was almost comical. The two somehow, in the bizarre nature of the situation managed to smile as they both began to dig around for supplies.
"Oh! Save the bread for the sandwiches, Cooky. I've found something!" Karrock's voice lilted delightfully high as he grabbed up the healing potion. Along with…. another one. Oooooo. He really didn't feel like he needed to be poured with more 'pretty' solution. He'd keep that one as a keepsake to be used later.
Karrock toddled back, the healing potions carried carefully in his wing claws. Unstoppering one with his beak, he would carefully pour it on the bird's various wounds, especially that painful leg.
Charlie made worried noises, his wing waggling uselessly as the muscle flexed, but could do little more with the bone being pulled so cleanly out of its socket.
"Now now, don't be upset, this is going to help you!"
"At least dis one can't sass ye."
((Omg I got mixed up and thought Menefer was like.. in the same building they were. But he's in a deli shop and... Orin is in Lovett's shop? XD I'm so lost. My apologies))

((Kitty is a hero! A phone hero!))
((Cale rested a hand on Morpheus's for a moment, letting his fingers curl over the other man's. "Mad as you may be." Cale whispered, giving Mo a small grin. "I rather like you. Good to be fighting with you, Morpheus." He murmured, using the Weasel's assistance to stand again, and glaring around warily.
What in all Hell?...
Flowers and ornate trees, soft grass was spreading all over the place, beautiful and the sound of bells in the distance were ringing. Cale couldn't help but double-take and glance over at "Death", who had dropped a Josiggy head from his jaws and was now sitting back, paws spread, with a small, peaceful smile on his face. Small white flowers blossomed all over the dead Wolf's body, and seemed to be pulling it under them. Viast's corpse was similarly covered, only her horn now sticking out between the roots of a pink dogwood tree. Was- Was Death calling them all to Hel?
He only had a few moments to be glad at the thought when the air behind him rippled and Resta tore out of nothing behind him (19), directly past the Weasel, and dragging Cale with her. Both fought ferociously. Tearing at one another and screaming in rage as they swiped and slashed, blood flying every which way as they tumbled and kicked through the beautiful meadow. Their fight carried them over toward the Swan, away from the Weasel, away from Gaurin and Trix... Marisa dogging Resta for another thirty seconds and taking out a good portion of her shoulder and side before she vanished with a howl. Resta stabbed down at him (17) as he stabbed up (16). Both fell on top of one another, gasping for air as they struggled to pull their weapons back. Neither of them heard Gaurin's shout, nor did they care.
"Are you pleased with yourself? You stupid bitch...are you pleased?" He asked, his eyes oddly glassy, chest heaving around the blade buried in it. "Yes." She whispered, staring down at the white petals on the ground. "Do you have...any idea...what you've done?"
She smiled, her face hovering over his. Slowly, she lowered her face and kissed him, roughly. ""Yes."" Cale glared daggers at her, seething with fury even as blood poured down his chest. She moved to kiss him again and he returned it, biting down on her mouth as she did the same, both simultaneously mauling and dragging their hands over one another in a sort of fevered desperation. "Hell...I hate you." "That means...you're mine." She hissed, her eyes slowly sliding shut as she leaned down on his chest, his sword protruding messily from her back. "You were always mine." Cale slumped backwards under her dead weight, feeling the air leave her as her arm went limp against his side. "Never the way you thought." He told the sky, which blurred in and out of focus. "I belong to my home, Resta."
Blood pooled around them as he watched the sky, oddly light, with small white petals drifting on the wind. He felt an odd lightness at the edges of his mind. Not yet though. The flowers stained crimson as he waited for Death to reappear.))

Shit...
That had not gone exactly as planned.
Shitshitshit.
He didn’t know if it was because he’d never actually used magic before, or because he was exhausted with dehydration and hunger, or if it really was because Ace’s were as useless as everybody said. All he knew was that his spell had only affected a few of the Cards. Looking around, he found that the wily antlered crocodile mix had stopped mauling people and looked perfectly content. There were a few others that looked distracted or had silly, placid grins on their faces.
With a start, he realized that the dead bodies were being pulled gently under the earth, to be covered with soft, mossy grass littered with delicate, fragrant white flowers. Gigantic trees sprouted and shot skyward as the gentle sound of bells rang in the distance. A lump formed in his throat – the dead couldn’t have asked for a better burial.
It had been a little too little, and way too late. All the main players in this battle were either dead or severely injured. The wolf had been decapitated, Rigsy had been pulled away by the bucktoothed child. Looking over, the two humans had wrestled their way across the grass, blood staining sections of the fresh greenery. Finally, in a tangle of arms and limbs and mouths, the Jossigy woman stopped struggling, and lay there, slumped on top of the Lowlander.
Were those all the fighters? Save for Trix? Was this it? The end of everything? And he could do nothing?
In a split decision, he sprinted across the grassy field over to the swan, who was one of the few who had a glossy look on his face. Urgently, he addressed the newcomer:
You had a message for Cale?? Quickly – before it’s too late!
He gestured towards the two entwined bodies. If the swan was too dazed to come on his own, he would gingerly grasp the Tulgey’s good hand and steer him toward the dying man, keeping an eye out for an other potential fighters that would deign to crawl out of the woodwork.
It may have not been much, but it was the least he could do...

Rosewood was not prepared for anything. Suddenly a giant crocodile was there. And it quite easily ripped off a pour man's head. He let out a terrified honk and fell backwards, nearly cracking his skull open with the force of his rough landing (low number before I accidentally knocked my die off my desk).
And then a meadow appeared. Bells chiming. He stared in away as he watched the sky. Well, that was pretty wasn't it? He was snapped out of his delighted stupor when an Ace appeared and... spoke to him.
Oh right. The message.
He was lead over to the two people.
Right Piers brother. That must have been the Lowlander...
"Uh, Hello," he said quietly as he as he went to try and remove Resta to the best of his ability with his one good hand so he could properly speak to Cale. He started talking anyway since he couldn't quite coordinate himself. "I'm sorry I... I have a message from your brother. He said he was sorry he couldn't make it and that something is there for you in his place of work. I... don't know where he worked but he wanted you to have whatever it was. He also wanted to say something to your mother I...."
He didn't know what else he was supposed to say.

Menefer nodded to the child and let her butter some bread and listening to the weird one tell him to save some for the sandwiches. He gave a shrug and let everyone tend to their own as he sat back and watched with gratification at the whole ordeal. He took this time and gazed outside out the window to see what was happening and he himself was flabbergast with what he saw.
He gave a shudder and sat back down, he didn't know what was going on and all he wanted to do was just make everything go back to the way it was before all this. He took the time and gazed about the room and smiled with some satisfaction that everyone seemed to be eating some of the food that he had found about. Though it was to little notice of how well he had put it together. He gave a physical shrug and guessed it was because most of them proabally never had been to a stared restraunt.
He looked over at the others, "If in the need, is their a back door to this place if we have to flee?" he asked as he sat near the window that he had just looked out.

Death, everywhere. Trix growled with pleasure as Guarin simply stabbed past the boy, took the horrible Wolf out. Her attention was momentarily split when the ferret freak waved at them with Gaurin's arm. It was enough to keep her from noticing Death come barreling into the gray, ripping the Wolf's head off and scattering the ragtag group. She laughed at the explosion of blood, stumbling backward after Gaurin. "You okay, Gaurin?" She barked, scrambling out of the mess... before the world suddenly exploded into flowers and beautiful trees. Trix gasped, and nearly collapsed against the battered Lowlander. Death himself leaned back into the bliss and Trix blinked. "Really?" Was this... Hel? She'd never really believed... But maybe... And then Resta and Cale were screaming, fighting, ...kissing? Dying. There was nothing they could do. Trix's mouth opened and then closed and she slumped further against Gaurin. "It's... over, isn't it?" Her gaze traveled in concern, seeking out Death again. Would he take them away? *** Remi chuckled when the saw the Lowlander's eyes fill with rage. He pranced off without hesitation, stuffed Resta's severed arm into his bag, and continued on. Until the world exploded into beauty and peace. Woooow... That was cool, unexpected but cool. Especially when Cale and Resta impaled themselves and started making out. At least the blood made it all sort of better. Everything was swallowed by this blissful meadow, including most the cow corpse he'd found. He approached it and poked it lightly. How attached was a cow horn? Had the strange spell loosened it, perhaps? He looked around once to be sure no one was currently bearing down on him, and then pulled. (20! Omg Remi, wtf.)

The grin Cale gave him was returned at the man's comment, a playful huff escaping him before he spoke.
You have two other entities living in your head, and you see how sane you are.
He braced himself, letting Cale use him as a tool to right himself. The damn fool better live after all of this. He was quite intent on keeping up contact with him if he did. Rare was it that he found people he'd go out of his way to talk to. Beyond his family there was Aphasia and Iphis.... and that was it.
Just do me a favor and live, so you can pay me back later.
The grin was back and although he sounded tired, there was humor in his tone as well. The moment ruined only a moment later by the reappearance of the only person who had made him feel true fear in all of his years, Resta. She appeared so fast, and so ferociously that he had no time to react before she and Cale were both locked in battle once again. Maraisa was quicker to react, ripping at the woman more before her time was up and she disappeared with a howl. She wasn't done yet, but he felt a sensation of satisfaction wash over his mind. She was pleased with herself regardless of her not being 'finished'.
His eyes widened when he watched both spear each other with their weapons, his hands trembled a bit as he dropped his own to the ground with a thud as it landed amongst the pretty scenery. He couldn't move, could only watch as..... as..... WHAT?!
His jaw quite literally dropped for a moment as he watched the display, rage and confusion intermingling once more before they both canceled one another out with an odd numbness.
you have got to be fucking kidding me.....
Once Resta slumped in a fashion that signaled she had breathed her last breath, he moved forward and dropped himself down on his knees at Cale's side, resting a hand on his shoulder once more. His expression filled with about seven shades of concern.
Cale? Remember? you're not aloud to die! .... Please?
He regarded Rosewood breifly before he turned his attention back to Cale, a little bit of hopefulness edging in on the concern.
_____
Lohi helped the boys as best she could to mend the chicken, her spirits raised after seeing both of them flush at her gesture, more so Karrock because of his lighter coloring. That.... that had been fun.
She glanced at the babies for a moment, going into thought.
How do you propose we find their parental units?

Orrin gave a loud snort. "Assuming they'll come back for em? Thought they belonged to the cow, but.." The end of that comment was left hanging. That woman's cries and then.. silence. That is what he'd heard as he ran to safety.
He didn't look back, he couldn't. He grimaced and shook his head.
"They got no cow in em nowhere. That'n there looks to be deer. Rat. Some kinda weasel? Reckon the best thing to do is keep em safe till the fighting is over. I could… go out and take a quick peek."
Wouldn't hurt to, right?
Karrock finished applying the potions and stepped back, returning to the conversation. "Are you sure you'd want to do that? I mean… we just got -out- of that situation. The ones fighting looked… powerful."[/colo] And taller. And beefed up beyond the rudimentary powers.

She knitted her brows for a moment in thought. Deer, Weasel and rat. Unless the parents were the humans, how hard would something with those mixtures be to find?
She frowned a little when Orin offered ot go, she didn't quite want him to go, the stupid idiot. He'd probably go off and get himself into the mix. But.... she couldn't go herself, not with that bum leg of hers. Her gaze then rested on Karrock, and a little grin crossed her features.
with my bum leg and his region, you're the only neutral party available. unless this little guy can tell us who these little fuzzballs belong to?
She peered over at Orin, her ears perking up a bit.
I'll need you here anyway, in case anything happens. I'm pretty sure Karrock can run pretty fast, or at least fly if something bad happens right?

Karrock realized he'd been elected to do something. His face fell a bit.
"Oh? Me? Well. Um, you do have a point." He visibly withered, glancing nervously out the door. Well, he -could- run pretty fast. Hopping out onto the doorstep he flapped his wings and took off. Yes, being in the air was safer.
Orin smirked. "Well. Now that we're alone…"
The sound of the babies squalling slightly in the background made him wince. Well enough, anyways. He would have been absolutely flabbergasted if the girl called his bluff.
He didn't have much time to speak, because Karrock had landed. That was quick!
"Okay so… Jossigy girl and Lowlander boy… The ones that were fighting? Yeah. They're dying. And making out on the ground."
Orin's face contorted into some.. interesting expression. He charged forward and shoved Karrock out of the way.
He'd turned the corner and… sure thing. He saw the two laying on the ground, writhing against each other. Bloodied and passionate and…
He thought he was going to be sick. Stunned, he took several steps back.
Does not compute. Short circuit commencing.
