Joel made a curious approch to the table. Corvie stuff, eh? All the better! He entered his name with the scribbly flourish of one who was just learning to write, and overly proud of his new skill. "I hope I winnn!" He told Lara with an excited hop. The cat-deer sprinted off in a random direction, tripping clumsily over his too-big paws. Mom said he'd grow into them-- he hoped that happed soon.

Illyria had been exceptionally good that day--stayed next to her aunt's side, carried things for her, and did not speak a word. Those had, of course, been the conditions of her coming along at all, even for just a short trip, but Aunt had apparently been so pleased by her obedience that she decided to let Illyria look at the bandersnatches. She felt stupidly grateful. She probably wouldn't leave with one, but...the other attempts with pets had gone...She didn't want to think about it. She was content just to look at them, and imagine taking them home.
All this orange was making her a little uncomfortable, though. There were so many people, too. Signing up for...a contest? She stole a sideways glance at her aunt, who was busily engaged in conversation a couple feet away. She had never won anything before...Eight people in front of her, so she was number nine. Ah, this was good! Nine was a lucky number. Three was special, and three sets of three was better.
She shuffled quietly into the line. It would move quickly.
