This poor creature was brought to Ashwin by its breeder, who had long been vying to breed light-bodied Banders without seeking out established lines. He finally was successful, and then began to inbreed his stock to ensure all offspring carried the rare trait. This girl was born perfectly normal, however, it wasn’t long before she began to grow strange, horny tissue across her paws. It spread up her legs, nearly crippling her. A doctor said it was an opportunistic virus that in a normal Bander would simply cause a wart. However, this girl’s immune system was so frail from her poor breeding that it took over completely. Walking is incredibly difficult for her, running is completely out of the question.

What an… erm, pair of sweet little Banders! This is an example of what can happen when extreme traits, such as the colored-marking gene, are bred for. This girl and her parasitic brother fused while still in an embryonic state. You might think that her brother is the second face, however, this is incorrect. All you can see of her twin is the leg protruding from her side. The mutation of her face was caused by a simple genetic error that resulted in the production of too much of one vital regulatory protein, causing her face to continue to broaden in the womb until she gained the two muzzles and three eyes you see here! <3 Such a precious creature.

Another example of over breeding for a rare trait, this Albino’s arm was crushed in utero when a breeder attempted to impregnate his prized female with more offspring than a Bander would normally have! After all, Albinos fetch a pretty penny on the market - who could blame him for trying to maximize profits? This male was the only of his litter to survive, and he is riddled with health problems. If not properly tended to, his arm could wither and fall off completely. The rest of his circulatory system is also weak, and he grows tired easily. He’s already on the road to blindness, thanks to his eyes. He’ll need a gentle home… Which might be hard, since he does have quite the temper.
