((I'm starting this thread on behalf of Ku-chan and with her permission! Sweet, reasonably vapid little Eli is so excited about the upcoming gathering. All Jacks currently on the board have been invited. If you have a Leveret who's unattached, this might be a very good chance for you to have them snapped up... should they want to be. Or should they be, uh, found on the road by a traveling Jack headed to the gathering or whatever. *le shrug* Otherwise, let the festivities commence!)) The prospect of Leon's little gathering of Jacks and their select warren members made Nayeli shiver a little with anticipation. Their entire warren had turned out to help set things up, even the Does. Theyd done lighter tasks, like helping to decorate by putting up bits of local flora and position the food artstically on the table and moving little things around. Of course their lovely Jack hadn't wanted them to do anything too strenuous, especially not with company on the way. They had to look their absolute best, to honor him in their appearance. In her mind, it was the best thing she could do for him. Her silver and sapphire jewelry sparkled in the cloudy sunlight that filtered down on the lake shore not far from their warren. Likewise, her black hair shone in the light, lovlingly brushed and braided by Bianca. Such a good Leveret their Jack had provided for her. He'd chosen to have it outdoors so that there wouldn't be any issues with crowding, and so that the entertainment could be more easily enjoyed by everyone. Thankfully, the weather didn't look like it would complicate things. Being rained out was the last thing they needed for such a momentous gathering. He'd sent invitations to quite a few Jacks across the realms, and a few of them had replied with an affirmative. Everyone was excited! In Eli's mind, they should be. Leon would entertain his guests, they would pay tribute to their host, and they would be able to admire everything that he had accomplished in his warren over the years. It was a joyous occasion. She foresaw no complications, perhaps naively, and went about her business cheerfully. People were due to arrive at intervals throughout the day.

Colonel Saunders liked to make an entrance. That was harder to do when people arrived in a staggered pattern, but the Golfam Jack had put quite a bit of thought into this; actually, he'd been thinking quite hard about it since he first received the invitation from one Remmington. They were from the Golfam Marsh-- really, the only Marsh, if one were to ask-- and thus the Colonel knew little about the Jack who had invited him. But that young buck up the road from them had been eyeballing his darling daughter and now the Colonel was keen to make sure that she went somewhere deserving of her very special status and, not so incidentally, would add a bit to the Jack's own wealth. That was why he brought only his favoured daughter with him-- she hopped respectfully behind him just a step and off to the side to not be in the way-- and he had instructed her quite specifically about their entrance. As such, it wouldn't take much for him to cue the girl, and he was simply waiting for his chance eagerly. The doe behind him, though subservient to her father, otherwise had her head held high as she regarded the bustle with little hiffing nose flares and the air of a princess stepping into the view of her common followers. Despite this, however, her heart was beating quite fast. Her nature, however, kept her quite obediently at the proper place beside her father. She could not stop looking around, though. This was so terribly exciting! She feared she might swoon.

Leon was indeed looking forward to the coming event. The preparations has been closely watched and continually monitored. His Does had also done a wonderful job of preparing themselves to present a wonderful representation of him and his Warren. Giving things a quick glance over to make sure nothing was out of order, he spotted Eli. Giving his usual cocky grin he made his way over to her. Running a hand down her hair he admired how soft and silky it both appeared and felt. His prize Doe was definitely going to do him proud. "Are you ready, mon cheri?" He asked smiling down at her. She had obviously taken the time he had given her off of tasks but seeing to their Need and pampering herself well. Something caught his attention, causing him to glance up and see the new Golfam Jack and Doe make their way toward him. "Ah, mon cheri it seems that our guest have started to arrive."

Eli arched into the sudden, unexpected touch, sure in the knowledge that only one person would ever stroke her so. Dark teal eyes looked up at him, full of affection. When she saw the quality of his grin, she smiled in return and sat up straighter. She would do him proud. She'd never been around as many people at once as he'd said would be attending the gathering, but she would stay close to him when he allowed it and be near the Leverets from his warren when he didn't. It would be alright.
"I am, my Jack," she replied, lowering her head demurely. It turned at his next statement and her eyes widened slightly. "Oh... yes. What pretty adornments..."
Looking at the lovely young Golfam Doe, fresh and elegant, only then did something occur to her. This was a gathering of many Jacks. There would doubtless be many lovely Does and Leverets. What if... Leon saw something he liked. A lot. She trembled, suddenly uneasy, but forced herself to calm down. No, he wasn't so fickle. He may find someone he liked, but they wouldn't be able to give him everything that she could. She relaxed once more and lowered her head in greeting of the two guests.

Magnolia didn't need to sense her father suddenly becoming tense, it was obvious by the way his whole form suddenly went erect and his whiskers quivered from how tensely he was holding them. She heard him muttering something under his breath and, from the tone, it didn't sound flattering.
Her long ears twitched where they attached to the back of her head in an instinctive attempt to lift them up despite their lovely and glorious weight. She leaned as surreptitiously as she could around her now still father to see what had suddenly thrown him into a rage, as it were.
Not one to stand down from a confrontation, the Golfam Jack abruptly strode forward, and his daughter was quick to follow, though she made sure her hops were all graceful and smooth.
"You, sirrah, owe me an explanation!" The Colonel's voice, when angry, was booming. "What is the meaning of that?" With a hand almost shaking with fury, the Golfam dramatically pointed at Leon's missing ear.

Stepping in front of his Doe, Leon was smiling a greeting to the Golfam Jack who was making his way towards him, a lovely Doe by the glances he could get of her, in tow. At the man's sudden shift in posture and baring his smile only faulted for a moment before he forced one to be kept in its place.
"Ah, well. The meaning of 'that', sir, is a misspent childhood that has long since been corrected, sir" He replied easily his accent allowing for his words to flow from one to the next. It had been a hard lesson to learn at the time too, one he never cared to repeat with the same result.
It was a question that he was used to getting, and though the punishment was common enough there did not seem to be too many Jacks running around half earless.

At the approaching Jack's sudden tense posture and loud question, Eli shrunk behind Leon, so very glad that he'd stepped in front of her and shielded her from the full impact of the situation. The quick and mercurial change of his mood made her glad yet again that she had grown to Doe under the Jack that she had. He would never yell like that without real reason. She'd long since become used to the absence of one of his ears.
The smooth tones of his voice soothed her slightly and she stopped cringing, instead keeping herself low to the ground in a more natural manner, simply looking like she awaited her Jack's pleasure. Which, of course, she did. Always.
She dared to stretch her neck and peek around his tall form for a glimpse of the pointing Golfam Jack and caught a flash of green eyes behind him doing the same thing. His Doe, yes... though she looked quite young. Not as young as her own daughter, but still. Young.

"Lost in childhood, eh?" Colonel Saunders had only the volume of 'bellow'. It was a fact of life his Warren had long since grown used to. From her place behind her father, Magnolia didn't even wince. "Misspent youth!" The Jack seemed to be growing more and more fond of this explanation, especially since he was likely painting his own escapades-- real or imagined-- in his mind to go along with the vague explanation. "Yes, yes, the real Jacks came out of there with quite a few stories, didn't we, boy-o!" The Golfam Jack began to laugh boisterously.
Perhaps a bit belatedly, Magnolia realized that she was being watched. She let her attention shift to the doe hunched behind the strange Jack. Her gaze paused on the man first and the slipped quickly past the cause of her father's outrage. By the time her eyes had made it to the Mid-Ranger, Magnolia feared she might need smelling salts. She sent a slightly distracted smile at the other doe. The other woman looked. . . weak.

Leon was silently relieved when the Golfam Jack took to his reply with a liking. Though it was a true enough explanation, not needed to really be exaggeration or added to anywhere it was a story that was better left untold in entirety.
Giving a deep chuckle of his own his smiled turned to something that was more meant than forced. "I would have to say that we do indeed."
Now that a better mood seemed to have settled between the two of them he hoped to recover the role of host again. Holding out a paw in offer for a pawshake with the older man he brought back the topic that had been at hand. "I am glad that you could attend, Colonel Saunders of the Golfam region, I hope that your journey was not too lengthy. It is a great pleasure to have you in attendance and I hope that you will enjoy the gathering."

The volume of the other Jack's voice made Eli's ears press closer to her head in protest. At least he was laughing now instead of shouting angrily. As both a Leveret and a Doe, shouting had distressed her. On the one hand, it meant that you or someone you knew was in trouble. On the other, it meant that your Jack was likely to be in a foul mood, and she always fretted when Leon was unhappy.
Behind the Golfam, his Doe seemed to have far less issue with the situation and took the time to look around. Whether her gaze rested on Leon or on the scenery at large, she couldn't quite tell, but she knew that the tiny smile gracing the brown and gold muzzle had been sent her way and she offered a more hesitant one in return. Had she known about the other's quick evaluation, it might have made her shrink back a little. Yes, she was weak, but thus far her Jack had never seemed to mind it, and had even paid more attention to her when she looked small and unsure of herself. There was absolutely no incentive to stop.
When it came to the point of formalities and greetings, she caught her cue and took a step to the side, still behind her Jack but now visible. She didn't say a word, not having been addressed, but simply bowed her head in greeting, nose touching the pink cuts on her paws and braid falling along one shoulder.
