Well, this was certainly better than silence. He gave a small smile as she responded to the compliment. He was glad it hadn't fallen on deaf ears. Really, he felt somewhat foolish bringing such things up and to know he wasn't stepping entirely out of line was a comfort. Setting the cup down, he cleared his throat.
"Oh... not at all. Ah... Let see..."It's the most beautiful place in the world; a place that made this dreary place look downright shameful? No... no he wouldn't say that, but he certainly wouldn't have chosen a place like this for a warren. Then again.. perhaps Torquehelms had a certain pride about them about their homeland, so he could at least somewhat understand the mentality. "Well.. it's a very beautiful place. we're settled more toward the woodlands but there are the most expansive meadows nearby. The grass is so thick and so soft, it's like laying on a giant goosedown piillow." His ears drooped lazily to the sides of his head, a tired smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Gosh.. he was so sleepy. He hadn't slept in days....

Dafina's head swayed back and forth just a little as she listened to his words, and his silence. It was pleasant this, a nice conversation. Her velvet toes flexed a little, stretching, before settling back into place. She nodded as he finished his sentence. It sounded just like how Mother had described it, perhaps it wasn't a fairy-tale place afterall.
"Sounds beautiful. Mother always said that it was. . much prettier than here. But I guess this is what I'm used to?"
She mused for a moment.
"There's something calming about the twilight I guess? I wouldn't even know what to make of the Sun!" She laughed. It was a joke, but truthful at the same time.
She hummed a little under her breath making the mental note to find more of her Father's books.
"Do you. . like it there?"

"Oh, your mother lived in the Highlands?" That woke him up a bit; he wasn't sure how many Jacks were in the Highland area currently, if there were any but the Czar himself. Perhaps her mother had passed through the warren at some point and time?
Her comment would have caused him some concern had she been morose when she'd said it, but instead it was a lovely laugh. He smiled reflexively at the joyous sound. Yes; he liked her. He -loved- Valeny, but he liked Dafina for sure. He'd never thought he'd see a Torquehelm who would have such a lovely laugh. Hopefully she'd keep that trait when she became a Doe?
The question though.. that caught Aleah off guard. He paused awkwardly, finding the right words before grinning weakly. "Oh.. don't get me wrong, Dafina." Goodness, he liked saying her name. "It certainly has its charm; I wouldn't deny it that. But.. there is certainly no place like home."

She perked at a subject she actually knew a bit about. It was always nice to feel like you were contributing to the conversation she supposed.
"Yes. Yasmine? She's a Yarrow Doe, and I believe she passed through the Czars Warren at some point?"
Huh, she never really thought of that before. She was almost certain that her Mother had not had any more children than her and her sister. Had she? Dafina was almost too embarassed to ask honestly. Half brother? Maybe? An eyebrow lifted and she regarded him for a second.
"So. . . I believe I have an odd question for you. Your . . mother. . . isn't. . ?"
The most sheepish of expressions crossed her face, but she wanted to know either way. Either she had found a sibling of hers, that she did indeed get along with. Was it wrong the way she seemed to be getting along with him? She hoped not.

His face lit up with recognition of the name. "Yes, she very much did! I remember her." A pretty thing, but always at odds with how things were. The Czar was fond of her, he'd remembered, but she certainly wasn't a favorite. Not like his mother. He.. wasn't sure if that woman would survive if she was traded. It was no secret that she was desperately attached to her Jack.
He blinked, not sure of what she was implying, and his nose crinkled up in almost horror as he quickly shook his head in denial. "Oh! No no.... She's not my mother. -My- mother is a Hisstor Doe by the name of Ashta. No. We aren't related." He quickly assured her, giving her a nervous smile. Oh, that would have made what he was feeling about her absolutely -nasty-. That wouldn't do at all.

A very visible sign of relief crossed her face. Well that was good. Though she wasn't entirely sure /why/ that was good. Perhaps the small spark of interest that flared through her. He wasn't. . truly the most attractive rabbit. With his gaunt body. But he was interesting, and my but he looked tired. Her nose twitched lightly in thought.
"Well that's good, I uh . . ." She smiled at Aleah. Not entirely sure where that sentence had been going. Dafina shook her head as if clearing water from her fur. It was fine, to show interest to a Jack. But to treat another leveret with such. . friendliness. She wasn't entirely sure if Father would approve.
"I have to say you look. . tired? Is there anything besides water I could offer you?"
Surely she could have more conversation before having to say her goodbyes. Anubis obviously wasn't patrolling the Warren at the moment, and this was the first rabbit outside of the Warren she got to talk to. She might as well give him a few comforts if she was going to keep him 'captive' a little longer. The thought made her lips tweak into a bit of a quirky smile.

Self consciously, he glanced down at the glass before him, noting the emptiness of his glass. Yes, he had overstayed the purpose of his visit inside. But there she was, giving him another outlet to stay! How sweet of her. Perhaps she liked his company? His ears perked at that, giving a soft smile before nodding.
"Yes, another glass would be lovely. Perhaps a spoonful of sugar in that glass for a bit of energy? Yes, perhaps that would be just what he needed to get through another day without sleep. The crash wouldn't be so lovely, but whatever made the here and now better was good for him. It wasn't often he felt himself drifting into sleepiness, and now it was seeming to strike at a most inopportune time! "If... that's not too much trouble that is. Should.. I go into the kitchen with you? I haven't... earned the right to sit in here just yet." He gave a cautious laugh. Yes.. hinting around to other leverets about his aspirations usually had mixed effects, but he was curious as to what this particular leveret thought of that.

She smiled gently at him and shook her head in a emphatic okay. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to get him one more glass. And a spoonful of sugar wouldn't be missed. Actually, a thought suddenly struck her and she grinned. She had just the going away present for him to take on his trip back to the Highlands. But she'd keep that secret for now. Though when he proposed going for the walk with her, her face fell just a little.
That opened up the possibility of Anubis noticing him. The thought made her heart race a little, but, he was obviously busy if she hadn't seen him in the halls over the last few minutes. Yes, she'd take the chance and take him to the kitchen quietly.
"Sure just follow me." She said in a quiet voice before peeking out the door. The underlying meaning of his words finally dawned on her and she regarded him curiously as they moved down the hallway.
"So you also aspire to greater things then?"
One of her brows lifted with a bit of mischieviousness. Let's see what he made of that comment, hah!

Aleah's brows raised with great surprise at her comment. It was one of the first times he'd even hinted at his aspiration and got something better than a cringe from the leveret he was speaking to. It was.. refreshing to say the least, especially since she hinted about her own... aspirations. Or so that's what he'd caught from the insinuation.
"Yes. You could say that." He said, his own tired grin curling his lips a bit more. "Obviously I haven't quite gotten there yet, but I've the aspiration to do so. Now it's all about timing, and waiting for it to finally happen. To tell the truth, I'm not knowing what to expect." Phew, he'd let quite a bit of that out in one go! But he couldn't help it; he'd found someone who was actually willing to -listen- to his ramblings, and have someone who wasn't his relative to think well of it.
"And you? Are you hoping to become something greater when you grow up?"

She hummed a little, chewing on her lip as they walked. Thoughts nibbled at the edge of her mind, though she wasn't sure if these things were supposed to be talked about.
"I don't know what to expect either honestly." A small worried sigh slipped from her and she wrinkled her nose at it. She knew, as much as she could, but did she REALLY? Furtively she glanced out sideways through her eyelashes, before looking back the hallway, taking a quick right turn.
"Timing and waiting about sums it up I guess. And honestly I don't think I really have a choice to not become something greater. Not that I don't want to!" She hurried along, trying not to sound hard-done-by.
"I don't know. I'm tired of seeing my sister treated better than I. Getting everything, while I toil around the Warren for no thanks at all. I guess that is the place of a leveret, and I'm happy to have a home at all. But I just want that. . recognition. I want to be. . . wanted."
Dafina blushed roughly and shrugged, her ears jostling around her legs with the motion. With a little nod forwards she went through the kitchen doorway, brows knitted tight in thought.
