A bright blue and white porcupine practically skipped down the streets of the Capital, golden horns gleaming in the light, singing loudly and just slightly off key. The strangest thing about his appearance, though, was the bright purple scarf around his neck, which had probably been fluttering out behind him quite nicely before it had caught on his quills. But if the Card had noticed that his new scarf had snagged, he didn't give any indication, mood remaining cheerful as ever. " Da da da da da...with that song," he sang, sniffing at the air and drawing to a clumsy halt that nearly sent him sprawling right onto his nose. He laughed, blinking down at the small patch of ice he slid on. " Well, that was a close one." He turned back hopefully to what had caught his attention: a lovely bakery, from which the most wonderful smells of pastries and cookies and cakes were drifting out. He took a longing sniff, and then reached for a pouch around on of his legs. Surely, he had enough coin left over from buying the scarf to get a little treat...

Just another day at work for Isolde, but she loved her job and she worked with her favorite people. Bernie and Emma were good people and they had given her a job right off the street when she was in desperate need. Now it was three years later and they had made her Assistant Manager of the whole bakery and she took that position seriously. She had just finished her last cake for the day and was putting it in the fire when she dropped the pan that was cooling by the window. " Oh hells bells, not again" she sighed bending to pick it all up. Things had been going awry today with realizing the door hadn't completely locked last night so she had to call a locksmith to come out to take a look at it. It was a good thing no one took anything because she would have been paying out of pocket to replace every last thing. She tossed the ruined cupcakes in the garbage and grabbed the ingredients to redo everything.

Just as the Porcupine had decided he had enough gold to buy a little something, he heard something out of the bakery...one of his small ears twitched and he stood up on his hind legs to peek inside the large window, where a number of foods that made his stomach give a longing growl were on display. That was when he saw her. Selkie Canine and for a moment his heart skipped a beat...and then he caught a glance of what he thought might be...a purple...hoof? Yes, there it was again, a lovely color the same as his scarf, just barely visible as she walked away...
Wait...she was walking away? Well that wouldn't do. Decisively, the Porcupine adjusted his scarf, gently unhooking it from his quills, and then pushed into the shop with a grin. "Hello! Are you the one who makes all these lovely cakes?" he asked, sauntering over to her. He noticed, then, that she seemed a bit upset about something...and he immediately looked concerned. Being a kind, care-free soul, he hated to see other people upset. "Hey...are you okay?"

Isolde had enough and she was just about to pack it all away for the day when she heard the bell jingle on the door. "A customer" she breathed in sharp. The bakery didn't usually get bad business but today was just well... bad. Barely two people had come in all day but at least she remembered the wedding party of 250 set up for tomorrow. She had been preparing for weeks to make sure everything was done. Luckily all she needed to do was remake the batch she had sent flying to the floor and she was done.
She had heard a voice but it startled her because she hadn't seen the person at first. Upon further investigation, she noticed a cute little porcupine had wandered into the shop. "Y-yes I am quite alright, it's just been a very trying day is all. What can I get for you sir?" she asked trying to sound professional through her distress. She was terrible at hiding her emotions and she figured the customer probably knew it.

The Porcupine tilted his head at her, drawing in a breath as he saw she had the most amazing purple eyes. But that wasn't the main thing he noticed. The main thing he noticed was the worry and the stress in those purple eyes. Why would someone so...pretty let themselves get so stressed out? Of course, he made it his life's goal to never stress about anything. But other Cards seemed to have problems with it...probably their insistence on doing silly things like working. Hah!
"You don't hafta be all...formal and stuff," he said, waving a paw, trying to help her feel more comfortable. The beaming smile was back. "It's always weird being called 'sir'. Just Felix will do better. And as for what you can get me..." An odd look came into his eyes, and he almost looked like he was going to say something flirty...but then thought better of it, oddly enough. Or maybe his stomach just took that moment to remind him he hadn't eaten since breakfast. "What do you recommend? It all looks so good!" His eyes strayed hungrily to a display of raspberry tarts.

What a strange little card, thought Isolde to herself. Not that it was in a bad way or anything, it just seemed like nothing really bothered him and that was definitely not the norm for her. "Oh sorry, Felix then" she grinned showing off her pearly whites. Flirt mode activated!
Was he just going to say something? To be honest, it made her very curious but she was working and she knew she had to leave those kind of thoughts until closing hours. Last time Bernie almost killed her for fraternizing with the customers... but sometimes she just could not help herself.
"Ah yes, the raspberry tarts are actually my favorite AND they are just out of the oven so they should be piping hot still. Does that sound good to you?" As she said this, she leaned closer and batted her lovely purple eyes at him.... this usually worked with the male sex, she wanted to see what would happen this time. Evil Isolde.

Felix returned her smile brightly as she accepted the offer to just call him by his name. There! That was much better, then! But being the easily distracted creature he was, thoughts of food put flirting out of his mind...for the moment.
"Oh, yes, the tarts sound lovely!" he said, breathing in the lovely aromas of the pastries, already almost able to taste them! "I should have enough gold..." It was then that the Selkie looked back at her, and the way she batted her eyes completely stole his train of thought. Felix was a rather simple man, when it came down to it...and he liked having fun. Pretty girls (or guys, he really wasn't picky) always managed to get what they wanted out of him...as long as it didn't involve -work-.
"...you have really pretty eyes, did anyone ever tell you that?" the Porcupine said quite seriously, unable to look away. "...what's your name?" He smiled at her hopefully. Maybe he could score pastries -and- a date!

She wondered if he knew what he was walking into. She may have seemed innocent but she was most definitely not, it entertained her when people would make that kind of mistake. "Alright, raspberry tarts coming right up" she said cheerfully as she went to grab them from the shelf they were cooling on. She loved when she was able to talk with customers since most of her day was more baking in front of a hot oven and not so much interaction with the customer anymore.
His gaze penetrated her, making her even more curious of his intentions.
"My name? It's Isolde!" she thought long and hard about what she would say next, he seemed to be taking the bait and she didn't want him to just rush out.
"Well you know, if you promise to take me out tonight I can just call these mistakes and comp them for you" she flirted back.
She blushed a little at his compliment, no one had said that particular thing to her and she thought it was sweet. "No, no one has told me that but thank you".

"Isolde..." Felix repeated. He had a habit of doing that sometimes...always repeating a name after he heard it. And right after trying to come up with a nickname, if the name lent itself to that. "Mind if I call you Issy?" It was cute, he thought...and it seemed to suit her.
He blinked, having almost completely forgotten about the tarts for a moment, but of course the reminded left him longing even more to taste them...but at her offer, his golden eyes widened. "Oh, really? You mean it?" He grinned, bounding closer to her like an excited puppy, quills bouncing with the motion. "I'd love to!" It didn't quite occur to the Porcupine that paying for a date would actually be more expensive than the tarts in the end...but then, all he saw was that he was getting both tasty treats AND a night out with a lovely young woman.
...who he now noticed was NOT actually Canine...but she was still no less beautiful for it. He blinked, and his ears went back a bit, honestly surprised she'd never been told that. "Really? Well I don't know why not! You'd think it'd be one of the first things guys'd notice about you. They're such a wonderful color," he said with a sort of sincerity that may be a bit surprising. But he honestly thought that...Felix wasn't very good at lying. It was probably one of the reasons he managed to charm others, despite his laziness and lack of intelligence.

Isolde smiled at the nickname; not many people called her that these days. Maybe just Aeron actually while she was thinking about it but that was about it. She didn't mind though, she always thought it was a cute name and it definitely suited her.
With his excitement of her giving him the tarts, she couldn't help but grin. "Yes of course i mean it, silly. Where would you like to go?" Isolde was a firm believer that if a guy wanted to take her out, he had to at least be slick enough to come up with a game plan for them.... she was kind of old fashioned in that manner.
She hadn't stopped smiling once since Felix came in, he was indeed VERY charming and she could tell she liked him already. She got the impression though that it was very hard NOT to like him though so it made sense. He was definitely getting points with her with the compliment he gave her. Before she could help herself, she was blushing a bright crimson color which was weird because she didn't blush very much.
