Yarrast leaped nearly a foot in the air, hooves skittering awkwardly as a voice sounded out behind him. Turning, he activated his Diamond charm in case he was about to be attacked by something vicious. His face was pale beneath the short, sandy fur and his eyes wide with obvious fear, however much his charm tried to mask it. Ah...it was the girl, Ceren... He seemed to calm, slowly, one hand to his chest, ears pinned back. "Ah, forgive me, dear Lady. Frightened me...what with all this...horror going on, I'm sorry." He gave her a half bow and tried not to shake, only managing to succeed by dint of the fact that she was alone. "I am heading towards the Queen's chambers to see if perhaps the Queens have awakened yet. If they have, I would like to alert them to the atrocious "issues" we seem to be having with people exploding and vapid waitstaff, among other things." He shrugged and gave her his best smile. "It seemed appropriate. I would be delighted if you woud accompany me, however." He said, gesturing to the door before him, leading to the Queen Iria's chambers. "I have to admit that recent events have left me wary to travel these halls on my own." He holds out an arm to allow her to pass first into the chambers and watches for her reaction.

Ceren's eyebrow was itching to fly right off her face at the man's... oddness. She did not like Yarrast, she decided in a moment. She didn't like that he appeared just in time for so much oddness to occur, did not feel at all comfortable with the way he kept looking at her, and what he was doing now just... Well. It bothered her deeply. He was a visitor here, and while he might have been an important man in his home realm, that did not give him the power to walk through her Court unattended.
She managed an icy smile. "Of course. It's enough to unnerve even the bravest of us."
Appropriate? She almost snorted, but choked it back. No. She had to be proper, even if she also felt as though she should ask this stranger to just come back another time. Then she wouldn't have to worry about the sort of troubles he would almost certainly be getting himself into... "Of course. In the future, I ask that you find one of us to accompany you - the last thing we need is for someone to think you an intruder and react accordingly." There was that smile again, laced with charms that never reached her eyes. She nodded at his movement and slipped into the room, feeling the first pangs of worry.
What if her Queen never woke?

Iria was tired. Shi had been a lot lately. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that there didn't seem to be much for hir to do lately. There were the usual Court politics, but even they seemed...boring. Tiring. There was no spark in it as there once had been, no fire that drove hir to prove herself so much more superior to everyone there in hir own way. Shi had never been particularly ambitious, but shi liked to know that shi was still...well, still more than hir inferiors. But even now that didn't seem particularly interesting. The only thing that remotely kept hir entertained or interested was Ceren any longer. Hir daughters were all grown up without hir - and shi'd barely gotten to see Aliyah before the girl was grown. Shi wished shi could see the girl once again. Oh, shi ached for the chance to see hir other girl growing up; there had never been a chance to see her grow up. To see what she'd become. But now there was no chance for it, and hir Kaeisha had grown up without hir noticing as well. Ceren was all shi had left. All that really mattered any more. Iria sighed, but finally opened hir eyes a little.

Yarrast stepped after her, looking past her to the prone form he expected to be stretched out on th- Oh, HILLS!!
He leaped backwards in fright and stumbled, crashing to the floor with a snort and a bitten-off bray of surprise. Awake?! Neither of them had been awake when he...had...left them...last. Neither of them were supposed to be awake, the packet had said that...said that... Good God! Faulty, Gods the potion had been faulty...and if that was the case...
He picked himself back up, giving the Yarrow sitting up in the bed a wary eye...at least she should still be woozy...he could play it off. "Your...your Majesty?" He asked, timidly. "Please, excuse my...my reaction, I- There have been some...awful things going on of late around here... Ever since I got here, terrible things and I... You startled me."
He tossed his head slightly, embarrassed and incredibly worried. The beautiful chambers were dark and secured, the shades drawn and the dim light from outside filtering in... This was...worrisome.

This was not natural.
The man was far too jumpy, especially for one of his rank and (supposed) position. People of power tended to be much more capable in a stressful situation, and this one was jumping all over as if there was guilt written all over those ridiculous ears of his. Ceren's attentions were pulled from her Queen for just a moment and her gaze fell on the man, eyes narrowing slightly. Why did he seem so upset to find that an authority figure was awake and well, when all the rest had been taken with such an odd malaise?
It didn't sit well with her. Not at all. But for now, something more important called out to her.
In a second, the King had moved across the room, lightly clasping Iria's hand between her own. "Dear heart, I'm so glad to see you've awoken," She said softly, pressing the fingers against her cheek. So much had happened already - Ceren couldn't bear the idea that any harm had befallen her beloved, as well. Finding the Cheetah awake and - seemingly - healthy lifted some weight off of Ceren's own heart. "This is Yarrast, an ambassador from the Veldt."
She turned to look at the man again, that coldness returning to her gaze.

"Mmm?" Iria blinked slowly, and then a soft smile spread across hir features. "Beloved...I'm glad to see you too," shi said, voice slow and tired, but still as fond and loving as ever. Hir Ceren was always so beautiful, shi thought distractedly. Even in her worry, she was lovely. And that stirred a sleepy thought in the back of the Queen's mind - why was hir beloved so worried? Iria was fine, shi was simply tired. And this room was so nice and relaxing. Shi had been resting contentedly, but now hir dear one was here, and so shi would focus on her.
It took hir a moment to process that there was someone else in the room, despite the fact that the man had actually spoken. Turning hir head toward him, she blinked tiredly again.
"Oh. Good...evening? I'm sorry, I'm not entirely sure what time it is." Iria leaned sleepily against Ceren, offering Yarrast a polite, tired smile, her eyes still half-lidded. Shi knew that shi wasn't exactly in the best of circumstances to meet an ambassador - barely awake, and likely an utter mess as well - but shi wasn't particularly interested in trying to get up and straighten hirself up. Not right now.

The Donkey hybrid watched the Yarrow Queen sit up and begin a sleepy conversation with what was apparently her lover. He gnawed his lip slightly, trying to think what he could do to rectify the situation, his tail lashing as he wished he was able to see the potion-seller again. He would pound that smug Pug's face into the floor if he ever laid eyes on him again. The Sparrow, Ceren, he now knew, introduced him and he bowed his head respectfully, before the Selkie turned and gave him another ice-cold gaze. Did...did she know? She'd been dead to the world, how in all Hells did she- He shifted with intense discomfort as the two seemed to be trying to comfort one another. Unsure of what to do, but fearing the Sparrow chasing him and shouting if he bolted, he took a seat on one of the decorative chairs and waited to see what would happen, readying a spell in his mind, just in case. ((Iria begins to feel abnormally swollen and terrible, especially around the middle as shi speaks to her beloved...what's going on? Ceren is beginning to feel more "off" as well, her body tingling unpleasantly as she moves. Feel free to plow on without me for a short while. Yarrast is uncomfortable and will not do anything unless drama or direct questions force him to.))

The damnable man made the Sparrow's feathers ruffle awkwardly. She wanted him to just leave, and his lack of response did nothing to settle her distrust of him. With every moment that went by, he only struck her as more nervous, more twitchy, more... irritating. "If you have no additional questions, I would thank you to give me a moment with my Queen." Ceren spoke with just a hint of Diamond charm lacing her words, wanting to ensure that the man would just... leave them be. Not for long, of course, she didn't want to lose track of him, but...
Long enough.
With that taken care of, she could turn her attentions back to her beloved. One hand lightly stroked the pale cheek, still looking oddly blurry with sleep. The Lakelander felt herself blinking rapidly, trying to keep back tears, but it was a losing battle.
In a rush, the horrors of the afternoon rushed Ceren's mind, nearly overwhelming her. She swept her Queen into her arms, pressing her face against the Yarrow's shoulder and letting out a noise that was half sob and half sigh. Even the Donkey's presence wasn't enough to distract her from the... the horror of it. "Dear one," she said in a small, quiet voice. "M-my brother and His Highness, Khushrenada... They are both d-dead, I fear."

Iria shifted uncomfortably on hir bed, expression twisting a little. Shi felt...bloated, and heavy, hir stomach twisting and throbbing almost painfully. No, more than almost, shi realized, it was starting to become painful. Some part of hir mind reminded her of how it had felt when shi'd been pregnant with their children. so heavily pregnant that Human form had been an extreme burden, and even Biped could be uncomfortable. Maybe shi should shift hir form...?
Any thought shi might have had about physical discomfort was wiped away in an instant when Ceren's arms closed about hir, and the news hit.
"What?" Hir breath left her in a shocked rush, and shi automatically wrapped hir arms about feathered shoulders to hold hir sweet King closer. "Dead? How... What has happened? How did they die?" The leftover vestiges of sleep began to flee hir mind, shock wiping away even the worst of that growing discomfort as shi stared at hir love with wide, dark eyes. "How long have I slept...?" How long indeed, for such powerful personages to be dead without hir knowing, without someone coming immediately to wake hir?

((Ceren and her Queen both start to feel a bit worse...though the Queen is beginning to show at an alarming rate...to the point where both can see it happening.))
