((Yarrast spat blood and bile as the woman's voice became softer.
Clutching the remains of his face and attempting to look at her clearly, he waited for the other shoe to drop.
More screams, more rage, more horror.
No.
There were a few beats of silence, Yarrast clamping his dangling eye to the softer fur of his cheek to block out the vision...if he could just get help...
Glancing up with his good eye, terrified of what he might find, he saw the Sparrow grin at him.
It was not a real smile; there was somehting inherently wrong with her grin.
She gripped a shattered piece of the chair tightly and Yarrast curled up on himself, certain she was going to lob it at him, or break his spell and charge him with it.
There was a horrible crunching sound, and a thick, heavy whump.
Uncovering his good eye, bubbling in the blood frothing out of what had once been his nose, he watched the Sparrow slump over, dead, her legs snapping because of her weight and the spell still holding her in place.
Her corpse shuddered, an eerie smile still on her frozen face, dead eyes staring at him.
He shivered, unable to stop the tremors running through his body.
Terror.
Sheer terror as her expression continued to bore into him and his own body twisted unpleasantly, expanding.
He coughed blood and teeth, ears flattened back painfully, hand still clamped over his dangling eye.
A million screams bubbled in his mind, but he couldn;t make enough sense of the world to voice any of them.
He couldn't stand.
He never would again.
The Sparrows' corpse heaved again, and for a terrified second, he thought she might still be alive.
And then she exploded.
Gore festooned the walls and everything around him as her entire front ripped wide open, spilling something else out onto the floor.
One look and he knew.
This had not been what he'd bargained for.
This was not what he'd been paid to do.
This hadn't been what he'd wanted at all.
He'd never really wanted to hurt anyone...no one was supposed to die.
ID: SD
Name: ----
Suit: Diamonds
Rank: Eight
Gender: True neuter N/A
Animal: Hoofed Mammal (Donkey) / Bird (Sparrow)
Region: Durum Veldt / Selkie Lakes
Dealer: Xenon
Parents: Ceren x Yarrast
Notes: This awkward, yet rather pretty mix of a child is able to hover about 5 feet off the ground laboriously with its tiny wings, but it is unable to fly as its sister can. It appears sickly and awkward, something wrong with its lovely Selkie coat...the yellow rings and brown stains...especially those under the eye that smell of ink, aren't something that ought to have come from either Realm of its parents. The child will always be prone to illness and has brittle bone disease, making it incredibly easy for broken limbs to occur, so they should be quite careful.
A true neuter, the poor thing has a complete absence of any sexual organs caused by the sickness that makes its eyes leak ink, Yarrows will probably still accept it as it most closely resembles a female, but it has no true assignable gender and no reproductive inner organs, making it impossible for it to breed.
The child was born as a fully-functioning 16 year old, with an average knowledge of the world and culture around it, but a rather incredible knowledge and thirst for discovery in the field of mathematics.
Basic Magical Ability: It can act charismatic and persuasive at times, whether or not it actually has the natural charm and grace to pull it off.
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, it can decipher up to two languages of the player's choosing. These languages are in addition to the common tongue and the Diamond house language.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, it can cast a lie-detector spell on a card of any suit and of a rank lesser or equal to her own, once per day. Cards of equal rank would be aware of the spell, but cards of lesser rank would not
Yarrast watched as what was obviously another of his children slid, still unconscious for a few seconds more, across the blood soaked marble.
His throat cracked and dry with panic, he stifled another insane laugh, only to have blood spurt out of the holes in his face across his hand pressed against the ruin of torn flesh and broken bone.
"Honey?" He called to the emptiness around him, wondering if his little daughter...what the Hell...was still in the hall, or if she had been sensible and run from the screams.
"Honey? Can you come here for just a second, Daddy needs to tell you something." He called again, his voice sounded wet and broken, he had to keep it slow to sound normal...the King had destroyed his upper lip in her blow.
Yanking a pillow from the disturbed and bloody covers on the old Queen's bed, he ripped the case off and covered the worst of his face and his eye...though what was still left was horror story enough.
Whimpering into the silence, blood pooling in his lower jaw, he whispered, eye rolling.
"Daddy loves you, Honey. Daddy has to make sure...he doesn't hurt you too...Daddy love...s...you..."))
