((Delaney, Keitha and Eryn were all out with Merlin when they spied an Ace seller toting his wares. After petting all the pretty Aces, they seem to have lost track of their Mother! Oh, Lord, why?
Their hour spent searching led them deeper into the city until it seemed that all the people had petered away... An odd spicy aroma lingers in the air and it seems like there are a good number of people at the pub down the street...and all the shoppes seem empty and dark... Eurgh! What to do!?
Meanwhile, Yantai and Sonata met up inside of the pub area of the Fallen Wing. They'd been having a nice enough chat (what with Yantai's lovely concealer, you can't even tell she's got Lowland in her), when the barkeep practically threw everyone out into the street! Something about a murder. Ass. The streets seem oddly...empty, though. And an acrid smell seems to be wafting around.
What's this? Avington children? Crap, they should probably help, shouldn't they? At least until this mess has blown over...))
(Your goal is to meet and chat a bit before hightailing it into one of the shoppes nearby. There's a hat shoppe that looks well-lit, an old bakery, and what appears to be a goodwill store... Choose one and get inside, it feels dangerous out here.)

She wasn't thrilled about not being musically inclined like the rest of her family, but there was a perk to it.... daddy took her a lot more places then Baroque. Not that her brother hadn't been offered opportunities, no.... he was more like their father had been and was completely engrossed in his musical endeavors. Fine, whatever.... at least she wasn't stuck at home listening to him practice and having to be quiet while he composed. Damn him and his talent. However, she did miss his company. He was fun to talk to.... when he was free of course. But today she'd found some company that was roughly her own age, and pretty smart too. Interesting mix, but she was a nice girl. They'd been having a conversation about roses, figurines and literature when the two of them were bustled out the door. Sonata had turned and bristled her fur, offering up the man a hiss and a growl, followed by a few choice words a lady shouldn't utter. Yantai blinked a bit as they were pushed out, a murder? Oh dear, she hoped it wasn't anyone with a family... they'd probably miss the dearly departed. But she didn't have much time to dwell on that before her companion turned into a hissing little menace and she nudged the girl in the shoulder with her nose, trying to calm her. A strange sound came to her ears, but it faded as Sonata turned and walked off a few steps, huffing and swishing her tufted tail. No worries, I think the park would be a much nicer spot for a conversation. The air was a tad stuffy in there. The Tulgey/Villa shrugged her shoulders, but her fur laid flat again and she peered over at the deer/rat for a moment, before noticing that something had caught her attention and followed the mix's gaze. Kids? Really? Guess they should go then.... or maybe not. Yantai, being her father's daughter, stepped gracefully toward the three Avington children, a pleasant smile on her muzzle. Well, they looked a touch lost and she knew the city like the back of her hooves, so why not help out? Hello there, need any help this afternoon? Her big, rounded rat ears perked forward as she stopped near the trio. Well, at least this would give her and her new friend something to do, wouldn't it? You have got to be kidding me .... Reluctantly the badger/lioness came up behind the deer mix and peered at the three new arrivals, her expression not quite as welcoming as her companions.... but she tried to make her toothy grin as soft as she could. Sonata's Tulgey Weird: This cute little girl will give you a bizarre creeping sensation when she becomes angry, almost as though the “background noise” has picked up in tension. Cards ranked 8 and lower will begin to have a panic attack the strength of which depends on their will-power, as the odd not-sound becomes a crescendo...

There had to be some sort of distraction from the world. When Eryn had come out of her flash regarding the man who was selling the Aces, her stomach was churning with a distinct wrongness that she just couldn't shake. Sex, on principle, made the little Owl-hybrid feel weird enough as it was, but sex with... Ugh. No. She didn't want to think about it. The Aces themselves were cute, and the presence of her sisters was wonderfully distracting. The best thing about Aces, the girl reflected as she scritched a particularly dumb-looking one behind the ear and smiling to herself, was that they were so very simple. Their regrets were little things that almost certainly changed daily - eating that moldy thing that they'd found beneath the sofa before coming here, biting the bigger Ace's tail, that kind of thing. The girl had been so enjoying the break from... well, from everything, that she didn't notice the sudden vanishing of their Mother. Now, the carefree delight of before was lost. Of course, Delaney had to be strong. That was good, someone in their trio had some guts. It was easy to hide her own fears behind silence, and so Eryn focused on simply locating the much older Avington, trying not to shake. The whole city felt weird, wrong. She didn't even want to think about the people they might run into on a night like tonight... As it turned out, however, she was far from expecting the people they did encounter. She blinked her wide, Bog eyes at them, letting out a stifled little hoot of surprise at the shock of the two girls (just a little older than herself and her sibling!), and then going very, very still. A moment later, she seemed to shake herself out of it, blinking a few times and shaking her head. " Hello," She greeted, initially unsure. " We... We're looking for our Mother. He's Avington, like us..." She turned to her sisters, looking for some sort of confirmation.

There was something about the aces that absolutely delighted Delaney. They were so simple and sweet, not frightening at all. She wanted one so desperately and had pleaded and nearly cried with her mother to allow them to pet them. When she'd turn to find her mother only to find her not there, she couldn't help but feel that it was all her fault. She shivered fitfully and stuck close to her sisters, whimpering every so often When she saw odd shapes in the cobblestones staring up at her with gaping maws. She hopped over those ugly faces, making sure not to look back over her shoulder lest they be right there behind her. When two forms came toward them, she made a strangled noise. Horror! There hadn't been a single person on these streets for an hour! Pale things.. a ghost! Horrid aberrations to steal their souls! Struck with her fear, the Avington canine's legs shook uncontrollably as she lost control. Whining softly, the poor creature peed down her legs onto the dirty street. "Oh.. Delaney..." Keitha sighed, placing a paw on her sister's shoulder. "Don't worry, they're not going to hurt us."She nodded though, at Eryn's statement. "We've been lost for the better part of an hour. Our... sister is a very anxious sort. I apologize."

The first real detail the tulgey-villa noticed about any of them were the owl's eyes. She had never in all of her days, which really weren't that many if you thought about it, had she seen eyes quite like that. Her rounded ears flipped forward out of curiosity and her tail curled ever so slightly. Was she an unnoticeable mix and this eyes came from a weird realm, like her pink ones did, or were they just a mutation? If she were ever to get the owl alone, she'd have to ask her about those.
Her attention soon diverted to the canine sibling and she couldn't help but hoist her brow. How had a creature that scared actually make it in the capitol without her heart giving out on her? She bit her tongue so she could fight back the urge to hop toward the girls and yell 'boo!', another thing she'd probably do if that sibling were to be alone with her. It was just too funny in her head.
Yantai was, of course, a little more sympathetic then the badger/feline was. Some of her family members were pretty skittish, and she usually was a bit more paranoid herself, but seeing how Delany acted made any and all fear of the trio dissipate completely. That little canine was more terrified then she ever had been and it pulled at her heart a bit.... poor dear.
I'm Yantai, and this is Sonata.
She gestured toward the feline-mix, who decided to pipe in again upon hearing her name.
Didn't see any Avingtons in there before we got booted out. Some kind of murder .... or something.
Yantai sighed softly, telling them that probably wouldn't make them feel any better.

Delaney let out a piercing whine at the mention of murder. Keitha hastened to soothe her, and looked less than amused by the news…. or perhaps how it had been delivered.
"I'm Keitha. This is Delaney, and Eryn. Either way… we should try to find our mother. He'll be worried if we're gone too long."
"I'm wet." Reminded her sister petulantly, ears pinning back against her head in shame. She hadn't -meant- to! Normally she was so -good- about not doing these things, but with all the special circumstances and the scary empty streets, how could she be expected to contain herself? At least her father wasn't there to yell at her for it.
Keitha grimaced at that reminder, glancing toward Eryn. "We should probably get Delaney cleaned up. Maybe there's someone in a store that can help us?"

((The goodwill store is only recognizable because the sign fell off of the front before it burned down. What happened out here. Though it's still smoldering, it doesn't look as though it burned down too terribly long ago. The hat shoppe looks a bit of a wreck and smells like an odd..aromatic smoke...like some sort of drug, maybe, or incense. Hey! Isn't the fountain near here? You could always try that and see if you can't wash that poor pup off. That's a pretty central place downtown too, maybe the Avingtons' Mother is already there waiting for them!
Something in the shadows begins to move...it looks...big.))

Yantai turned her attention to Delaney for a moment and gave her the most pleasant smile she possibly could, poor thing.
The fountain isn't far from here. We can get you all cleaned up and hey, maybe your mother will be there too. It's generally pretty busy.
She turned her attention ot the other two girls, her rat tail curling a bit into it's happy shape.
And if he's not there, well, I live right on the outskirts of town and we could get my family to help look. Might be easier to find him if there's more of us, right?
Sonata wasn't quite so amused with this group of strangers, they were all kind of weird. She turned her head to give a quick groom to her shoulder when she caught something in her peripheral vision. Shadows didn't move just because they wanted to, and that's definitely what it looked like... a big back shadow.
She turned and stalked toward where she'd seen the thing go, pink eyes narrowed as her tufted tail danced behind her.
You can come out of your hiding spot, I already saw you.

The things she saw when she looked upon the pair were standard, and that helped set the Owl's emotions at ease. Her feathers fluffed into some semblance of order, and she bobbed her head at the introductions. Keitha was ever in control of the situation, which was a good thing. Eryn's interpersonal communication skills generally left something to be desired, so she was mostly quiet, though her bright eyes never left the group. Her gaze was rather piercing, and often a long time went before the girl blinked.
"A pleasure," she murmured lowly in response to the greetings. She turned her attention to Delaney, expression going strained for a moment. "It's alright, Del, we'll take care of you." And they wouldn't tell either of their parents that it had happened, either. Things would be easier that way.
The girl's ears twitched at mention of a fountain, and she turned to look at Yantai. Such a curious-looking creature... Those swirls under her eyes particularly caught her attention, and her longing to have her mother nearby only strengthened. Merlin had a fondness for those swirled in purple, he would almost certainly be happy to see his daughters in her care. "Can you bring us to the fountain?" They could probably find it on their own, given proper directions, but... This would be easier. "And that would be... lovely of you."
Activity beside her caught the girl's attention and her bright eyes narrowed, shifting subconsciously to be closer to Delaney. "It's alright." The words were instinctive - there was no need to panic her poor sister any more than had already been done.

(( The thing in the shadows rushes out and makes a horrible, screaming roar!
Deeply set eyes and a constant, weaving motion of what one must call its head, make the thing rather horribly frightening... But... It's roar is cut off in the middle by the cracking of its voice and it shudders and makes a loud, pathetic moan, shuddering, it weaves at the small group again, illuminated by the streetlight and its semi-liquid body seeping into the cracks all along the street.))~Nathalia
