Othello's ears swiveled as he listened to the priest speak. Well, that was a little discouraging. Though the thought of any form of deity actually granting him some form of pity and giving him the ability to see reality was an amazing notion in itself. However, how could someone cursed like him receive something that grand? No, it was probably some sort of horrible magic disturbance. With the way it had seemed to flicker... and all the odd things happening it was possible.
The cat mix gave the rat a rather timid look. He did have a question. He glanced at Nethan. Well, if he was distracted and didn't want to ask... "I do have a question Thir. Thhould we be worried about being in danger from a magical force thtrong enough to free me of my cursse? My mother is the Queen of Heartth and thhe's thpent years trying to tholve my thight problem. It thhould be impossible for me to thee reality." He whimpered a bit, his mechanical hand tapping on the floor in anxiety. Was his family safe?
--
Josephine tilted her head at Remi's comment. Body parts? "Cool," she said with a lopsided grin. That was a little strange, but if Remi wanted to pick up dead body parts that was for him to decide. Did that mean if she died he'd put her in a bag to?
Urk. Was she dying? The stroking was a bit reassuring. She batted at the piece of chalk with mild disinterest. It was magic. Could she use it to do something? Could she find Mommy with it?
"Why'd you take her body parts?"
--
Ichigo gave Nethan a small apologetic look. He honestly didn't want to disturb him when he and the strange priest seemed to be having a nice conversation. Despite looking like an adult the boy was still a child who had come into the world rather abruptly.
This night was horrifying. He just prayed that no one else would get hurt. He quietly waited for Evan's assessment of the situation.

Though he hated to dishearten the young man, Vanja would not do him the disservice of fabricating something. They looked to be peers in age, himself perhaps three or four years older if that. Had the deer mix been raised outside of the Fjords or had he ventured out to seek his fate at the hands of the gods? Hopefully there would be another time for such conversation, as this certainly wasn't it.
"Your faith is admirable, Nethanel. Yes. I agree. The gods are good to those who serve them. Surely Odom guided us in this meeting." And the lands outside of the Calloo were simply mad, or so it seemed at times like this.
Othello's question gave him pause as he tried to figure out a way to approach the answer so that it would be useful to all of them. Should they be worried if such things existed? Probably yes, they should. That answer would be unhelpful. He closed his eyes for a moment, breathing slowly, thoughts finally seeming his own once more and cleared from the disconcerting sensation of travel-by-mirror. He reached a hand into the pouch beneath his robes, strapped securely to his thigh in a location that no one could readily access. Long biped fingers emerged clutching a collection of assorted stones and bones, all of them carved with the runes of the Calloo faith.
His voice became quiet once more. He could phrase the question just as easily in his head, but he wanted the others to bear witness to precisely what he asked... just in case the answer bore further interpretation. It had happened before. He spoke in Common for the same reason. "Wise Odom, bearer of dreams, herald of visions, granter of foresight - I seek from you an answer to a question. The question is this." He paused once more, holding the words in his mind. It took longer than he would have liked to settle them to his satisfaction. So many questions he would like to ask, but none of them could be answered with a simple 'yes' or 'no'. He had to settle for one that would. Perhaps it would be useful to know whether they were facing one front or two with regards to the happenings within the area? Perhaps not. No one had presented anything more useful. "Is the source of Othello's newfound sight also the source of the unrest throughout the Capital city?"

((Evan finally closed the mirror, its light going out at once. "Damn it! I need t'get out there! I think she's gone berserk." He felt his chest tighten, wondering how far his Captain might have gone if she was attacking civilians on the street. Without even checking if they were Lowlanders?! Hell, what had gotten into her?! The Calloos were talking and seemed happy, he could leave Vanja here without worry. He hopped over a counter and tapped the Rat on the shoulder. "Look, Vanja, mate. My crew's in trouble, 'n I think my Captain may have gone a bit off th' deep end. I gotta get out there and see if I can't help, Farrago probably needs me. I don't want t'lose any more of 'em." A look of pain crossed his face and he gave the Rat the best smile he could muster. "If I don't come back, will y'say one a'them fancy prayers for me? Cause it's ugly out there, mate. SHould be safe in here though, with this lot." Standing, he gave everyone a curt nod. "I've never been one t'tell a Card what they can and can't do, but it's a war out there, so only come out iffin' y'want part in it. Otherwise, wait till it's quiet and run for safety. Best o'luck, all." Racing for the front door, he bolted out of it. Damn it all, Resta, what'd you do?
The assortment of objects fell into place; giving Vanja one of the clearest "maybe"s he has ever received. Though listing to the side of no, he is getting a reading of "not-really-but-kinda" harder than he ever has before.))

Nethan wished he could've spent more time talking to Vanja but it would seem their time for pleasantries was over the moment Evan snapped his little communication mirror shut. The Calloo mix hesitated as Evan passed them, a tiny frown etched on his muzzle.
If only he could help.
His worried gaze rolled over everyone in the room and landed on Ichigo, pleading and uncertain. "I..." His little split tongue brushed his lips nervously as he tried to think of something, anything, they could do to assist. "Is there anything we could do?"
Ichigo was already so hurt, he couldn't let him back out there and he was both unarmed and unskilled in the ways of fighting. What were they even fighting for? None of his questions had been answered.
Nearby Vanja was throwing his Runes but Nethan was too distressed to notice just then.
Remi grinned at Jo. That's right. That's why he'd found her so enjoyable, even with that creepy feeling she gave him every time their eyes met. He chuckled a little. "Because she was made of glass. Everyone says girls are, but I never believed it before. Maybe you are too?" He smiled at her, a look of morbid curiosity flitting through his eyes as he stared at her.
He almost wanted to find out.
But then Evan spoke up and his dark thoughts were shoved aside in favor for this talk of Resta gone berserk. That twisted grin of his widened a great deal but he kept his voice at a secretive whisper.
"I'm going to go outside now, Jo. But I don't want you to follow me. I find you real interesting, so I don't want you to die just yet." He slipped his bag off and held it out to her. "I think you should watch this as well. If something happens she may break further and that would be almost as unfortunate as you dying. Just don't touch her, I'm fairly certain the glass is cursed." The ferret gave Jo a warm pat on the shoulder and one last fleeting smile before he scampered quickly toward the door.
Just for now, he wouldn't go further than the entrance where he'd been watching the fight before. Maybe something interesting would happen, maybe it wouldn't. He'd decide one step at a time.

Othello's ears pulled back when the Jossigy spoke. So the woman had completely lost it? That was fantastic wasn't it? He watched as the man went straight for the door.
He didn't have a weapon, and this wasn't his war to fight. He sat quietly and waited for the rat to finish his divination. Hopefully it would shed a bit of light on things? The thought of his family being in danger was still poking at the back of his head.
---
Ichigo watched as the man started to leave. He knew nothing about this war, and he was fairly certain that both sides were wrong. He could walk out there and try to stop the madness, but what would that amount to? He would probably get hurt.
When Nethan spoke he gave his mome another scratch on the head before unsummoning her. "I'm sorry Nethan, but if this is a war between Lowlanders and Jossigy it's probably better if we..." He frowned as he struggled with his words. He didn't want to say what he was going to say next. "Either stay out of it entirely or try to stop it. And we are ot capable of stopping it. You have no training in weapons, we have no weapons besides my sword, and I'm injured to the point far beyond being useful. Quite honestly we should try to slip out and avoid the battle. I can't imagine it's going to be safe in here much longer."
It was the most logical thing to do, right? Even if he wanted to run out there and flash his sword, it would be irresponsible to leave innocent people in danger. Though he had turned his back on the people in the fray. Suits, he was a hypocrite.
--
Josephine snorted. Made of glass? That was kind of like Grandpa being a living doll wasn't it? Cool. Though how could something like that live? "I'm not a normal little girl. Glass. Psh."
She blinked a few extras times when the Jossigy was walking out, staring at his retreating form. So he was going to go out there and doing something stupid because the crazy lady snapped? Cool.
Her attention snapped back to Remi as he offered her the bag. She carefully took it in her mouth and set it between her paws. "Okay, Remi," She said with a sigh. "I'll be good. I wanna see too but... I'll stay here."
The wolf gave a small whimper. "Just come back man."

Remi peeked his head out the door, a brow arched in intrigue. The scene had definitely changed, there was way more blood and... the ferret nearly broke into hysterical laughter when Evan clocked a psycho right in the face. The man went down hard and Remi nearly pranced out to get a better look at everything before the world suddenly exploded into fire.
The ferret's eyes went wide in pure shock as a portal burst into the air, full of fire and spewing Lowlanders. The stone literally melted beneath the portal and the fiery fox Remi had seen before suddenly went streaking off with a mob of Lowlanders in hot pursuit. Oh, that was a riot, but this was not the crap he wanted to see.
He wanted to see Resta beating the snot out of people, not flaming Lowlanders. Hm.... Dilemmas.
With a heavy sigh he turned around and strolled right back into the shop and plopped down beside Jo. He held out a paw as he spoke. "So yeah. Stuck my head out there. Not a pretty sight -- bunch of fire, bunch of Lowlanders. No one's attacking kids anymore though," he tilted his head toward Ichigo. "Thought that might make you feel better." He offered him a wry grin and a shrug.
Nethan whimpered very softly but nodded. Ichigo was right. No matter how badly he wanted to help there was really nothing he could do that wouldn't either get himself killed or risk having someone get hurt because he was stumbling around in something he didn't fully understand.
"You're right." He glanced to Vanja, both wondering the outcome of his question and the man's opinion on the situation, only to have the strange pink ferret pop back in the room and bluntly announce something about fire.
He blinked a couple times, frowning deeply but secretly a little relieved. Maybe they had managed to get the civilians out of the way? That would at least be good.
The boy took a deep breath and turned his attention back to Ichigo. "Maybe we should head out while they're distracted?Josephine still doesn't look all too good... Maybe we should try and get her -- and you -- to a doctor?"

Suits, he really wished there was better news than that. The mouse eyed the Morganberry, not really sure how to respond to his comment. "Thank you," he said half heartedly. He turned back to Nethan. At least he had agreed with not going out there. "You're right, let's go while we can. We'll try to find a doctor."
Hopefully they wouldn't have to run, with the shape they were in. He pulled himself to a standing position and prepared to get going.
---
Josephine tilted her head as she quietly waited for Remi to get back. He seemed to be enjoying whatever was happening. That seemed pretty cool. She leaned on the bag, staring blankly until words were actually spoken.
"Oh, we're leaving the pretty place?" She pulled herself to her fullest height, wobbling where she stood. Nurgh. Suits. "Let's.... a doctor would be good." She said as she grabbed Remi's bag in her mouth and offered it to him with a pained look.
--
Othello's tail twitched as he watched the conversation going on. He supposed they should get moving if people were catching on fire. Othello gulped. He would just follow the band then, it would be easier that way.

As the runes fell and arranged themselves according to the will of the gods, Vanja's expression slowly twisted into a form of thoughtfully confused disappointment. That was certainly one of the strongest and most clearly explained answers he had ever received while casting. Unfortunately, it would help them very little.
Perhaps...?
His thoughts were interrupted by Evan's touch and he jumped half a foot in the air, letting out a squeak before he could quite contain himself. The sound embarrassed him and he tried not to flush, though the effort was fruitless. Having two differently colored cheeks could make him look lopsided.
The man's words quickly sobered his thoughts. The implications behind them... "I will pray for you, Evan," he replied in as serious and heartfelt a tone as he could muster. "May Odom guide your steps."
He spent one last moment staring at his runes, attempting to memorize their configuration for further thought, before gathering them up and tucking them securely into their pouch once more. Worried eyes turned to Othello. "The conflict and your sight are in some way connected, but not very strongly. Likely incidental. Not enough to worry yourself overmuch, considering the present state of the city. I hesitate to leave, but I can see that your companion is in poor condition. I will follow anywhere that is not engaged in battle."

Nethan nodded firmly to Ichigo but turned to Jo as she spoke up. Poor thing. She really didn't look like she was in good shape... "Yeah. We're going to find you a doctor." Once she'd passed the ferret over to Remi, he gave her a gentle pat on the head and a small reassuring smile. "If you need to lean on me you can, alright?"
He hesitated when Vanja spoke his brows knitting a little in uncertainty.
That didn't seem very clear and, really, Vanja's expression seemed to suggest he felt the same way. Still, if that was the best the Gods could give them than Nethan understood and, honestly, something was better than nothing. He gave Vanja a reassuring smile.
"It is our greatest intention to avoid conflict as well."
---
Remi grinned as Jo offered him the bag. Wonderful. He slipped the bag on and flicked his ears forward as he listened to the rest of them. What a sad useless group.
At least Jo was cool. He'd have to find a way to make sure she stopped being sick soon so that she could be more fun again. Though she did say some funny things when she was like this... But no, getting her better would be for the best. Urg.
He waited until it sounded like everyone was ready to go and them scampered out the door ahead of them.

Othello frowned a little at the priest's comment. They were connected, that was a little alarming, but what the Suits was actually giving him sight? He made a little worried noise, "Thank you, thir." He said to the rat before focusing on everyone else.
They were going then. And he supposed he would follow. Hopefully they could get away unharmed. He still had his pain ability, though he really wished he had brought his weapon along. Who knew shopping to could turn into this? He followed the group at the door.
---
Josephine blinked up at Nethan. Oh he was going to help her? That was... nice of him. She gave a small nod to him. "Thanks, I should... be fine... maybe." She shook her head a bit to try and make herself think straight.
It didn't work. But she couldn't just flop around in the mirror store. She needed to get moving. Stumbling she tried to keep up with Remi, though she fell behind fairly quickly. She just needed to stay focused on him. That would get her out of here safely.
---
Ichigo wanted to take the front, but he knew he wouldn't be capable of keeping at the proper pace. He would take up the back, hopefully he would be able to keep everyone safe that way.
Considering they would be going away from the fighting, he prayed that would be the case. He kept is sword loose, hopefully ready at a moment's notice.
