Enzili swung around, forgetting about his crustacean woes as the squirrel's voice rang out in his ears with an accusing comment that he so didn't want to hear. Way to go Big Bad Pirate, you're off to a fine start, aren't ya now?
"What was the first clue?" He sniffed indignantly beneath his breath before attempting to look casual as he knocked the water out of his ears. She wasn't attacking him just yet, so he had plenty of time to gather up a whole bunch of false courage and pretend to do something with it.
That is, of course, until she turned around again. The leveret's eyes went wide and he shrank back for a moment before puffing up all over again. He was the rabbit and she was the card, she should be cowering...not him! Gah! If nothing else, this awful situation would give him time to figure out how to socialize with cards... What notorious pirate hid from anyone?
"I needed a boat! ...I didn't think a storm would be swellin' up that quick!... or that you'd be so...so...dratted tenacious!" The rabbit scrunched up his nose, trying his best not to look intimidated.

Zuberi growled as best as a squirrel could. This strange creature was getting on her nerves, and he didn't look like any card she'd ever seen. "You're damned right I was tenacious! It took me weeks to carve that boat out! That was my -baby-..." She gave one last look out to the sea. If it wasn't bashed into a million pieces it was probably on another island entirely.
Finally she turned back to the strange creature, narrowing her good eye in scrutiny while her bloodshot white one stared balefully onward. Within the inside of her eye though, her memories were spinning, trying to find some comparison, but there was none. Then finally she settled on an image of lore... something she'd seen in a book long ago. Well, to say the least the image was highly inaccurate. "You're a rabbit...."
She stared at him, as if not quite believing what was in front of her. Then she laughed again. "Oh, mi gawd! Nubuddy gunna believe me iffen I tell dem this..." For a moment she lapsed into the Old tongue as she placed her forehead in her hands. "I be losin' me mind..."

The leveret flattened his ears back against his skull, bearing a little buck-toothed sneer. This wasn't fair! How was he supposed to know that a simple canoe could mean so much to her? It was a canoe. Then again, in all honesty, he could understand exactly why that 'simple canoe' had meant so much to her and he felt a little awful deep down... but that was no way for a pirate to feel, of course, and he would be sure to squash it away as soon as possible.
He parted his mouth, about to say something far too lofty for his current state of ship wrecked leveret, when she abruptly blurted out a very obvious truth. Well, obvious to him. Most Cards didn't really expect leverts to be so... well, not terrifying. Jacks on the other hand... Well that wasn't important now.
"I...!" He puffed up, staring at the squirrel as she lapsed into laughter and the old tongue. Hearing it was oddly soothing, reminding him of his Nana, but he wasn't about to get all sentimental over the psychotic squirrel woman. "Dunnt you laugh at me!" Enzili stamped his foot momentarily, growing frustrated. None of this was going the way he wanted it to... None of it and, honestly, he just didn't have the force of will to be so bloody grumpy. Usually life was far more laid back than this!

She glared in his direction for a moment longer before looking out to the ocean, scouting for any sight of a boat. Of course, there was none. Nobody ever came out this way to fish; it was just too far. "Be crazy hard -not- to laugh at ye, iddy boy. It the only way I be not -stranglin'- ye right now."
Even as she spoke though, she was looking up and down the shore, then finally to the dense trees. "We'll be needin' to find a reliable source o' clean water. Best we not wait till we thirsty. Now, you are gonna come with me to find clean water. Then, you are going to help me build ourselves some shelter and get together some food. You understand me?" She emphasized her words by pointing accusingly in his direction. Obviously she didn't seem to want to reason with the rabbit.

Zili missed his greens already.
Some Midori Herbs would've made everything so much more...tolerable. Sighing a little, his ears flattened back and he wrinkled his nose in displeasure.
"Fine, fine... If yuh say so." Honestly, it didn't look like he had a choice what with her pointing and glaring. All things considered, at least he hadn't rowed out here and been stranded by himself...
Turning on his heel, the rabbit hop-walked his way toward the tree-line in a considerable sulk.
It wasn't for a good few minutes of walking through the tropical woods that the rabbit finally broke and spoke up again. There was no use just walking around and sulking about everything, maybe he could get his mind off of things with conversation.
"Wot's your name, anyway?" His words came out bitter despite himself. Yeah, much better Zili. Way to sound like a jerk. His ears flattened back again. "I'm Enzili."

Zuberi's gaze was just a touch too harsh as she looked over her shoulder. Well, what would he expect with a tone like that? She was surprised though, to see that he was somewhat... contrite.
"Well... good to finally have a name for the myth. Zuberi's the name." That was harsh. She sighed. "Most cards don't even believe rabbits exist. I take it you guys like to keep it that way, eh?"
She pushed past some bushes, finally finding a thin path made by whatever animals inhabited the island. Picking a direction she started down it. "We'll follow this till it leads to somewhere. If anyone knows where water is, it'll be whoever made this path. With her anger wearing down, she couldn't help but give the rabbit a curious glance every now and then. Certainly not what she expected... then again she never -expected- to see a rabbit in this life anyways..

Zili's expression scrunched once again when Zuberi swung his spite right back at him. Oi! He hated this! His ears flattened down a little further but he echoed her sigh and nodded.
"Yeah, really. Most rabbits don't want much to do with Cards an' really, with the image Cards put on us it's just easier that way." Well, that was how Zili saw it. He knew quite a few people that just loved causing trouble for trouble's sake and picking on unsuspecting Cards was the best way to do it. "I dunn't mind Cards all too much, though."
He followed the squirrel tentatively onto the little path, his ears perking up a little in nervousness. There was no proof that whoever made this path would be friendly enough to want them on it, after all, and Zili didn't appreciate the thought of getting his lil tail in trouble yet again.
After a few minutes of walking, Zili finally noticed her occasional glances in his direction. He smiled briefly, dipping his head down to stare at his paws as he hopped... only to tilt his head up just in time to catch her glancing back again.
His brief smile widened into a grin and he promptly stuck his tongue out at her in an adorably playful manner. Well, the least he could do was try to make friends? It'd make being shipwrecked a little easier if nothing else.

Well, she had -tried- to be discreet with her glances... but the increase of their glances in each other's direction ended up making her look towards him due to paranoia more than curiosity. When he made a rude face, she did a double take and was immediately embarrassed, looking away. Of course, to think Zuberi was done would be underestimating her indeed. With an exaggerated sway of her hips, she sent the bushy tip of her tail into his face, snickering despite trying to keep a serious face.
"You can't blame me, now. You're the first rabbit I've seen and I'll be sure to look at you as much as I want!" Then again it was unnecessary, as her white, blind eye had already committed his face to memory. The walk was becoming a long one, but the increase in birds singing and animals in the wilderness surrounding them was a comforting sign. So... do you have family back wherever you're from? Siblings, children?" Well, she might as well start conversation.

Enzili grinned a little, trying hard not to chuckle when she quickly looked away. Resisting, of course, was far harder than he thought it was and right when he seemed as if he'd pop and break into a fit of giggles...she smacked him in the face with that big bushy tail.
It didn't hurt, of course, but it made him fall to his rump for a second before he broke out into a fit of laughter. Okay, yeah... He was no terrifying captain, but he would just have to work on that gruff bit later. Quickly recovering his footing if not his composure, Enzili picked up the pace to catch up with the Squirrel.
"Heh... No, I can't really blame you... I'm just as curious, really."
Chuckling a bit more but paying a tad more attention to the scenery and increasing wild life, Zili was quiet until Zuberi spoke up again. Family?
"Not really. I mean, I'm sure I've got at least a couple siblings I don't know about." His nanny had once mentioned that he had a Doe for a sister somewhere, but he never got a chance to know her and...really, Zili wasn't sure how much of his Nanny's stories that he could actually trust. "And me? Kids? No." For a second Zili had to stop himself from making a snippy comment about how she didn't know that Leverets couldn't do that...'cept, he started to figure she didn't actually know. Besides, he didn't even know what sort of stuff Cards did, so he had no right. "I couldn't if I wanted to... Only Jacks and Does can have children and I'm just a Leveret. What about you..?"
