She paused, considering. Should she even bring it up? Hell, why not? There was a part of her that really wasn't even sure she was actually sitting here, talking to a rabbit. She'd probably wake up later and it would be just one really screwed up dream. "I'd say it be less about believin', and more about knowing. I mean, my village already believes that the souls go on and have to be properly set to rest lest they -turn- to ghosts... but I've -heard- one. One day, I hope to meet him face to face." Her grin grew broader as she spoke, tail flicking as the excitement of just -thinking- about it grew within her. "I be not knowing how much you know of Card lore, but back in the day, there was a pirate named Pinkbeard. I -found- his treasure. Oh yes.... found his treasure, and what I believe to be his connection to his soul, and this world. It.. it was a coronet.. made out of his skull! And I -heard- him, Enzili.. I heard him. And when I'm finally worthy, I know he'll show himself to me."
Wow, it all sounded a lot crazier out loud, didn't it? Breathing heavily she grinned and looked at the rabbit. "Sometimes, our true loves be waitin' for us in our lifetime. Sometimes though.. our true loves be already passed. I don't think that'll stop me, though."

Enzili leaned forward a little as he listened to her tale, his ears perked forward and his little cotton tail twitching in interest. He'd heard of Card Pirate stories enough to know of Pinkbeard - he dreamed of one day becoming a Pirate worthy of such status. One day. === Some time later, long after they've escaped their Island Adventure and returned to the main land... === On his own still, Enzili marveled. Not a proper pirate, but at least he was free and he had an awesome hat that he'd snitched off a real Pirate. A long with a sack full of their 'treasures'. It was really pretty great and the leveret was pleased with himself as he hopped back down a familiar stretch of Midori beach. This was where he and Zuberi had parted ways... ah, it was a while ago wasn't it? Her little hut was around here somewhere and a visit seemed like an awesome idea. (Especially considering that there was a cranky Captain somewhere looking for hit Hat... Haha!) Finally his destination came into view and the rabbit, ever in disguise when wandering these open beaches, hopped up to the door. Sitting back on his hind legs, his ears tied up under a bandana and a pirate's hat complete with a giant feather laid over that. His usual tattered vest and concealed his lack of suit and rank. He trusted Zuberi now, but he didn't feel too keen on his status being public knowledge. (Time skip! Hope this was alright. ^^)

What a long, humid day. It was even more humid than usual, and it was the -Midori Beach- for crying out loud! Far too hot to wear fur, the Voodoo priestess instead was in her human form, one Midori child in a sling to her chest with the other in a rocker by the window. On the floor, a young Hisstor girl played on the floor with small, crudely made dolls with button eyes.
The humidity didn't seem to be bothering the children, but then again they weren't the ones who were scrubbing and cleaning and hanging up cleaned cloth diapers to dry. And nothing was drying today; not with so much moisture in the air. The single mother sighed heavily, tossing her tresses over one shoulder to allow the back of her neck to breathe a little. What she -needed- was a nice dip in the ocean!
But just as she was seriously mulling that though over, there was a knock at the door. The woman bared her teeth in mild frustration. Really? Guests at a time like this? It was a rare foul mood that the woman was in, and she stomped her way to her door and pulled it open.
Her face though, went completely slack. After seeing this rabbit once before, there was no denying that it was in fact the very same creature, though now his ridiculously long ears were hidden under a hat that she suspected wasn't even his, and a vest that obscured his chest.
"I'll be damned... ye showed back up after all. An' I thought you were pulling me tail.." Perhaps her immediate recognition of him would compensate for the fact that she was in human form. Suddenly she realized, holy shit! There was a damned rabbit on her doorstep! Hastily, she looked over her shoulder.
"Xolani, go to your room. Mommy has a visitor." The girl stared at her for a long moment before getting up, grabbing her dollies in her claws before hurrying off. There had been a tone in Zuberi's voice that told the girl not to question that order.
Turning back to the Midori leveret, Zuberi gestured for him to come inside. "Hurry den, before you make a spectacle of yourself. Not often that -foreign- Midori come into this village."

Standing out on the doorstep, the humidity hit Enzili for the first time. Distracted with a pleasant trip down memory lane and the thrill of a small heist, the rabbit hadn't actually thought much of the atmosphere. Now he was uncomfortably aware of his surroundings and the unfortunate weight of the air bearing down on him. How he wished he could let his ears free and get some air!
Finally the door swung open and... wow.
Briefly he glanced over his shoulder, trying to be certain he was in the right place. Her quick exclamation of recognition, however, immediately put his worries to ease.
"By the W-" Catching sight of the Hisstor girl playing on the floor, Enzili quickly censored himself. "Sea! How ya have changed, Miss Zuberi!" He gasped out, grinning widely. A mother of three and a particularly impressive (and intimidating, he had to admit) human was not what he had expected to see when he managed to find his way back to Zuberi's doorstep. He gave himself a chance to look her over, marveling at the bizarre Human form. And Cards thought Rabbits were frightening?
Honestly, Enzili was terribly envious of them. Such unique forms and so few, from his perspective, constraints.
Once Xolani had hurried off, Enzili slipped into the safety of Zuberi's hut and let out a relaxed sigh. It was nice to get in and take his hat off (even if his ears had to stay bound back). "It's been so long! Tell me, how have you been?" Obviously a great deal had changed (more so than it had for him), Zili could see that just by looking at her.

"Yes, so long indeed!" Zuberi said with breathless agreement, hustling over to put her child back in with its sibling after locking the door. It wasn't often she had to do so.. but after some of the events that had happened in her life, the Midori found it prudent to have one added.
"You.. want something to drink? I've mango juice in the ice box." Zuberi offered, feeling somewhat out of sorts. It had literally been years since she'd seen the small rabbit. After so long, she was questioning if the whole ordeal had happened at all. Regardless as to whether he'd agreed or not, she was already at least fixing herself a cool drink. "There.. been so many changes. Some radda obvious.. but really it be too many a t'ing go over in one sitting!" She gave out a small laugh.

Enzili smiled absently, watching Zuberi move around. She still seemed so flustered by his presence, but he couldn't blame her. The impressiveness of her, the awe of her changes... the fact that she was a bloody human! He could barely find words around her right now, let alone blame her for being flustered by 'little ole him'. Rabbits weren't supposed to exist, let alone ones that were all chummy with Cards like he was. Well, not all Cards. Just Zub... and really, that was an accident all of it's own?
Zili jerked himself out of his thoughts as he realized he hadn't answered her question -- "Ah, mon! Mango juice sounds amazin' just now! The heat could kill t'day!" He smiled as he watched her pouring the drinks. "Aye! I can see a lot plain as day, but I'd love to hear a little. Not much to tell on my end... just the same ol' wanderin'... so I'm all ears." He grinned. Literally, really.
