Thalia smiled encouragingly at Nico and a tentacle absently patted him on the head. "I'm sure we can get you some. Just takes a little fiddling about in the lab, I bet. And taking little things like pastries isn't a bad thing to do, in the grand scheme of things. Every once in a while you get some good karma stored up from doing wonderful things like saving little old ladies from getting run over by carriages and bringing in a starving bander, and you have to spend it somehow, otherwise it just sits there being useless, yeah? That's how it works with bad karma. Gotta do good things to burn it off. Same principle."
She contemplated this for a moment and then said: "I can show you how to do it just right, if you want. It's all about the distraction. And if you don't wanna I'll just buy you some. I'm hungry and in a good mood."

"Stealing is wrong," H.P. insisted quickly before Kyriaki could agree with the unwise plan. He didn't know what was wrong with his sister just now, but she certainly wasn't acting as she should.
Kyri stuck out her tongue at him, then quickly pretended she hadn't. She was too mature for that, of course. Still, it was frustrating that H.P. had to be such a goody-two-shoes. "However you think is best, Thalia," she answered angelically.
Neither of the kids knew quite what to think about Thalia's suggestion to add tentacles to their brother. Kyri eyed their eldest sibling with speculation in her gaze, but H.P. scooted closer to Nico in a protective manner. "He's wonderful the way he is," he tried to insist. Poor Nico already had enough trouble, what with his four eyes and the whole colour thing; he didn't need anything else to set him off from the norm.

"Really?!"
Nico beamed upon receiving that little pat, but hesitated briefly once he noted that his siblings didn't seem entirely pleased. Jovan coughed his disagreement and H.P. had slid closer to him as if to protect him from the notion of him getting tentacles... Well, he did suppose they'd get in the way of his wings, and he didn't want that since Mom said they'd most likely be capable of actually flying one day.
He liked the idea of flying -- less tripping would probably be involved.
"I think H.P. might be right... I don't know if I really need tentacles..."
Jovan relaxed his posture a little bit once Nico was derailed from the possibility of trying to be experimented on. Nico really didn't need any more mutations.
"You were saying something about pastries? ...I don't believe stealing them is a good idea," he sounded like his mother, trying to play to the happiness of everyone in the group, "but buying some sounds nice of you. We can even chip in too." Her concept of buying and spending Karma sounded reasonable but regardless of that Jovan thought it would be good to stay on the safe side and build up good Karma rather than test their luck with it's unpleasant counterpart.

These kids were terribly straight-laced (or perhaps they just hadn’t worked up enough good vibes to spend on stealing; maybe they could rescue kittens from a storm drain later and have enough to jack a lollipop or something), but Thalia supposed there was always time for them to be re-programmed. Right now was time to ferry them off to a wonderful world of sweets.
She led the way to her favorite shop—she liked to alternate, for the most part, so if anyone noticed that anything had been stolen, it would be a long time before it happened again, and honestly who remembers a missing raspberry tart after a month? She also avoided the bakery that her half-brother worked at, because V was always kind of awkward and his social retardation harshed her buzz.
She paid for the snacks, declining Jovan’s bid of assistance (though she told him it was terribly gallant for him to offer), though she did sneak one on the sly for H.P., just to amuse herself.
“Here we go,” she said cheerfully. “Eat ‘em up.”

Kyriaki accepted her pastry happily and excitedly, picking it up with her tentacles and sniffing daintily at it. The shopkeeper didn't seem too concerned by this, however, further proof of Thalia's continued appearances.
H.P. took his in his tentacles as well, absently and carefully rotating it around so he could feel it all over. It was something of a compulsion, really, to let all of his tentacles explore whatever it was he was holding.
Kyri snuck a constant line of sneaking glances towards Thalia, determined to do things the same way as the very pretty King. She hoped that maybe she could be as delicate as the older girl if she mimicked the other Corvie hybrid.
H.P. wouldn't eat his until the others, but as soon as everyone had their own pastry, he took a cautious bite of his own. He was quite pleased that it was excellent and made a mental note of their location so they could bring Mama and the Papas back here someday.

Jovan wasn't entirely certain about the prospect of being led around town by a girl he barely knew -- Mama and Papa always warned him about strangers, after all -- but he couldn't see anything too wrong about Thalia. At least she was forward about her stealing and, upon arriving at the bakery, everything seemed to check out alright.
Nothing to be overly worried about, at least.
He accepted his pastry with a dexterous tentacle, glad that it seemed to be the universal way of doing things in the little pastry shop, and munched happily on his tart. This outing was turning out to be rather pleasant and even Nico seemed to be enjoying it despite how noisy the little shop must have been for him.
Nico, being your typical sugar-addicted child, was delighted by the prospect of sweets regardless of how he obtained them. Of course, this wasn't to say that he was about to steal them, but receiving them as gifts was perfectly fine. Especially as a gift from a particularly nice-sounding girl.
His ears flattened back against his skull inside the bakery, but his ever wagging cotton-tail had his happiness shining through even his discomfort with the noise level. Stores were always full of such noisy people and colors and... well, lots of things. It could be worse, at least, the building could have been packed as well.
"mmMmmm!" He squeaked out at least. "It was delicious, Thalia! Thank you~~~" The little buck wiggled with the force of his joy. "This place is really good! All the pastries look so delicious!"

Thalia smiled fondly at Nico while she daintily nibbled her own treat, leading them out of the bakery and back into the bright sunshine of the day. She wanted to adopt that little boy and call him her own and feed him pastries every day until he eventually just got fat enough to roll around town like a big fluffy ball with antlers. Roll him around and around while he assimilated cans and trash bins and people and became a giant unstoppable adorable ball of death that would absorb Capital City. She would have to adopt Kyri, too, so she could have a cute and vibrantly green lab assistant. Maybe she could just take all of them.
She was shaken out of her warped little fantasy of maternal love by the realization that she was out of pastry. Oh well.
“See, nothing to worry about,” she said. She grinned benignly at H.P. “They taste even better when they’re stolen, though, right?”

Kyriaki did her best to nibble her pastry in the same beautiful manner that Thalia did. The teenager smiled beatifically at the children and just nibbled away until her whole snack was gone, and Kyridid her best to match the other girl perfectly. She did fairly well, finishing her very yummy pastry just after Thalia did. She gave a sigh of pleasure. She could learn so much from the teenager and she was determined to do so to the best of her ability.
H.P. would have been pleased to know that Thalia found Nico so charming; it seemed they were all rather protective of their eldest brother. He was not, however, pleased at her swift jibe at him. He gave a coughing splutter, losing parts of his pastry even as his tentacles fumbled swiftly to try to save the main of it. "What?!" he squeaked in panic. "You bought them; we saw you pay for them!"

Nico liked sunlight.
He didn't like the sudden bombarding of light and sound that came with stepping outside, though. Inside it was a bit more controlled but only just a bit. His ears flicked around a bit, but to no avail as the sound was just everywhere. Luckily the music wasn't all too bad.
Nnmph.
His small spell of distraction was abruptly broken when he heard H.P. suddenly squeak in panic and he too found himself jumping, although he did not know why. Had something happened? H.P. seemed upset... "Huh?" Yeah, that sounded intelligent.
Jovan frowned deeply at Thalia's jibe. Kyri might be quite enamored by her, but he wouldn't take kindly to her teasing H.P. like that... especially if she had stolen a pastry just to spite him. ...She was good though, if she had, Jovan hadn't noticed a thing.
He shook the small compliment off and instead continued to frown. "That wasn't very nice, Thalia... To tease H.P. like that." He hoped that's all it was.

Thalia didn't see anything wrong with gentle teasing; H.P. seemed to be an unnaturally straight-laced child for someone with such cool facial accessories. Fun would do him a little good. The mental math was not difficult. H.P. needed fun. Stealing was fun. Ergo, H.P. needed to steal things.
But they were kids, maybe they didn't do math? She did gave a little internal shrug. It was cute, though, how close the siblings seemed to be...all of hers were far too much older for her to have really spent too much time with them. They were off cannibalizing unfortunate victims and raping people and hiding in corners having angst and sprinkling magical fairy glitter all over the place. Very little time for the Thalias in their lives.
"I jest," she said, cheerfully. "Your deliciousness was surely procured by innocent means. No harm in playing around a little bit."
