Acacia looked up at the skull-faced bat and shook her head. "I don't how I got here either...ah, and my name is Acacia! I should've mentioned that earlier. I wish I could've met you all under better circumstances. This place is hardly ideal," she said, looking around the room now that she was on all fours once more.
When she saw Bailee walk over towards the door, she could see how shoddy it was, even from where she was standing. The Yarrow hoped that the larger Corvie could take it down without any further injury to herself...
----
The Hisstor Bat regarded everyone with a nod as they introduced themselves. They all seemed to be handling his visage rather well. Or at least, he hoped they were, since no one had said anything about it yet.
What really worried him the most was how they'd all ended up there. He and the Yarrow had no inkling of what had happened to them, and the other two had fallen down a deep dark hole. None of it was very comforting to Maks. But the fact that the Corvie, Bailee, seemed willing to break down the door, shed a little optimism on their situation. All he wanted to do now was to get out of where ever they were and just fly.

The canine mused only briefly on how all four of them ended up in the same place. Two of them fell and two of them had no recollection. Perhaps everything was just a coincidence. Ultimately she was with a decent group of people, who even introduced themselves, and were actually cooperating to get out of where ever this was. It was far better than exploding trap doors.
Bailee smiled at the Jossigy. "Thank you! It would be my pleasure." Her club ability was still activated, so a badly hinged door wouldn't be too much of a problem. She kicked the door far harder than she intended to, but ultimately the door was down (16). If there had been anyone behind that they would be squished like a pancake.
"Ah," she with a small shrug. "Anyway, who would like to take the lead? Also... we should probably have a loose plan before we go romping through an unknown area. Who handles what, and such."

Such polite pleasantries; it was better than the alternative, but it still made Maeve twitch with discomfort and impatience. The group could work together cohesively without getting all chummy, and the less they knew about her the better. The moment she became complacent and someone discovered her secret was the moment these lovely people formed a lynch mob. Cards and Rabbits just did not mix. (Woonsocket was…a perplexing exception).
“Planning is all well and good,” Maeve supplied, “But it is rather difficult to plan for the unknown.”
Ideally, she would lead, having the most obvious means of defense, but the Cards would have magic she could not even begin to comprehend--it was not bitterness she felt, not at all--that might suit just as well, depending on their skill set. So she asked, adding:
“I am not opposed to taking point if there are no other alternatives.” Maks would be well-suited to follow at the rear, judging by his calm attitude, which would keep--Acacia--safely in the middle with Bailee to manage her.

The door fell with a resounding crash, the hinges flying off completely into the darkness beyond. The plants that were cut slowly furled back toward the ceiling, save for one tendril, which slowly made an attempt to extend back toward Maks, though anyone in the room would be too quick for something going at that speed. However, when Maeve cut the vines free, something fell from one of them onto her head. Silk Pansy: Third in a set of 8, this pretty little trinket tingles a bit to the touch. It seems to be emitting the proper odor for the actual flower it represents, though...there is a little something metallic about it. These flowers can either be collected in groups of four (evens and odds, with two people getting the payoff, one holding all evens, the other holding all odds. Evens and odds do not have to be used in conjunction), collected as a solid group of 8, or used separately to diminished effect.
Strange... Beyond the doorway is a rickety old staircase, leading down to a ground floor with equally old, grey-paneled walls and a rotted carpeted floor. A door leads to the outside to the right, though it's awfully foggy and chilly out there, and on their left is a long hallway, though it is dimly lit by overhead lights, leading down to another stairwell. One door, maybe a coset, stands off to the side, slightly ajar.

Bailee half frowned for a moment as she listened to the Jossigy's response. She would at least like to have positions assigned... but maybe she was worrying a little too much. Not every strange house was rigged with explosives.
"I think you leading the way would be the best, but I might sneak ahead to scout things if I'm feeling adventurous," she said as she stared out into the darkness. The just needed to get out of the room. With Maeve leading the way she felt a tiny bit safer. She'd take the middle, at least she could be a buffer for the Yarrow and had her strength in a tight spot. And if she got distracted by something shiny she could investigate.
The house didn't really reassure the canine that they were in a safe place. Rickety stare case, things falling to bits, and the musty air of neglect. It vaguely reminded her of Corvistowne. Her ears perked slightly when she noticed that the lights were on.
Wait was that a good thing or a bad thing? She lightly chewed on the inside of her cheek as she eyed the doors. What did she have to do today? What day was it anyway... she still didn't remember what she had been doing before she was chained up. Oh well. Her attention span didn't hold long enough.
"I'm going to check the door," she said quietly as she quietly padded towards the potential closet. She'd peak through the crack in it, and push it slightly if she deemed it safe.

Looking at the other three Cards in the room, Acacia weighed her options pretty quickly, and spoke up once Bailee had said her piece.
"I'll stick with you, Bailee, if you don't mind. This place gives me the creeps..." Turning to face Maks (and nearly flinching at the sight of his face), she asked, more politely than maybe she normally would have, "I hope you don't mind taking up the rear?"
Skittering over to Bailee's side, she was sure to be careful as the four of them made their way down the dilapitated stairs. Once she was on firmer ground once more, she let out the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding in. Acacia stiffened up a little when she saw the Corvie's large form leave her side, but upon hearing no other noise than the sound of their footsteps, she relaxed slightly. Especially since Maeve was still nearby.
----
Maks was a really good listener, so that's just what he did as everyone else planned their next moves once the door was open and out of the way. When Acacia asked if he'd stay in back of the group, he nodded, his facial joints clicking a little as he did. "I have no problem with that. Let's go then, shall we?"
The Bat watched as everyone else made their way down the stairs, then after looking behind him and seeing that nothing unexpected had popped up, he quietly flew down and landed behind Bailee and Acacia once more.
Quite used to being quiet and observing those around him, he did just that while the Corvie did some investigating of her own and as the other two surveyed the new section of whichever building they were in.

To the right there was a door which Maeve cracked open cautiously while Bailee investigated the other; it seemed to lead outside, but the gloom made her skin crawl: the fog felt unnatural, icy and clinging. Something was moving out there, and Maeve shivered. She shut the door slowly, and turned back to wait for Bailee to finish her own exploration.
“Anything?” she asked the canine quietly.
That they might find something that could shed light on their current predicament was a pleasant thought to entertain, however unlikely; the little Maeve knew--vines in corpses and cocooned victims--meant hardly anything in the grand scheme of escaping (though it might further the chances of survival, she supposed).
Maeve glanced down the dingy, grey-paneled hall towards the next stairwell, “I suppose we continue, unless you want to risk the fog. There was someone out there, I think..." Personally, she did not relish the idea of being out in the open; and there was no telling in the fog whether or not the individual was someone they wanted to be associating with. Regardless, it was in their best interest to stick together as a group, whatever they decided.
[edited for continuity]
((I vote for outside, no matter what Maeve has to say about it ...also, checking out that box. ;3 But I'm down for whatever. <3))

The door Bailee hesitantly inspected, opened onto what looked like a...giant medicine cabinet. Thick tubs of powders and creams, a few smaller jars of pills, and boxes containing nothing but traces of dust. Odd...the thing looks completely abandoned, but...something seems to be...moving, in one of the boxes. Maybe it's just a trick of the light?
Acacia was able to spy an odd-looking box on the shelf...it seems to be wriggling, or maybe it's the light wavering on it. Meanwhile, Maeve was just able to glimpse what looked like a thickly-built figure moving through the fog... It at least seemed to be moving...normally. Further down the dingy hall is another doorway, leading to another staircase...again leading down. Up to you all what you choose.

For a brief moment Bailee was prepared for the worst, but her eyes lit up when she saw the medicine cabinet. "Maybe!" she replied cheerfully as she opened one of the boxes precariously. She frowned a bit at the ample amounts of dust that were inside. There went the hope of bandages. But hey, maybe she could pop some pills to make the pain of her tail go away? "It's a medicine cabinet."
She closely inspected the the tubs of ointments, checking for expiration dates or makes. That could at least tell them a bit about who lived here. Whoever they were they seemed to be properly prepared for anything. Anti-itch powder, lotion to help sooth rashes, oatmeal bath, some mysterious unlabeled tub covered in dust an inch thick, something that may have been a numbing agent if she was reading the faded label correctly.
Painkillers would be lovely. Maybe the pills? She eyed the few jars. Painkillers. None of them looked like anything useful or safe. Her nose wrinkled in thought as picked up a jar of brightly colored pills between her paws and rattled them. Not like she had time to test any of these for poison.... and she didn't particularly feel inclined to pop them in front of strangers...
But she could pocket them for later. Slipping the pills in her bag she went back to investigating the shelves. "I'm not a fan of fog..."
Then something moved. The dog froze with narrowed eyes as she stared at the offending box. She wasn't high--at least she didn't think she was high--maybe she was just being paranoid? "Did that box move?" It couldn't have. It must have been her imagination.
(( OOC: <3 Bailee is curious about the rest of the building, but since the box is closest, she's probably going to focus on that. ))

((I’m sorry guys, I can’t resist! Bad Dark, bad! D: ))
Maeve twitched nervously, “Perhaps we should move on.” If something was moving unnaturally, it was probably in their best interest to leave it undisturbed and continue on their way hopefully unmolested. The canine seemed rather keen on the box, though, and Maeve doubted she would be able to dissuade her.
With nothing to do but wait, her eye was drawn inadvertently back to the exterior door and the figure she had seen out in the fog. There was no telling in the gloom, but--what if it was some poor sod lost out there? it could just as easily be more trouble, but it didn't seem right to just walk away. And, who knew, maybe the person knew something.
Maeve cracked open the door again, careful to not open it too widely lest she needed to close it again quickly, and peered into the fog to see if she could still spot the figure; she pitched her voice to call softly: “Hello? Anyone out here?”
