When Bailee opened the door, Acacia peeked around her large form to take a glance at what was inside. There was so much stuff, her roving eyes didn't quite know what to stare at first! Her sight finally stopped when she noticed that one of the boxes was moving. Shaking her head, she looked away, and then back at the box. No...it really was moving! Normally she might have backed away, but this intrigued her. Looking up at the Corvie, she asked, "Do you think you can lift me up there for a moment? I'd like to take a look at something, and I don't want to knock anything else down." She hoped Bailee would comply with her request, or else she'd probably drop the subject and investigate elsewhere.
----
The Hisstor Bat gazed around from his odd little perch for a moment or two before noticing that Maeve began to peek her head out the door that led back outside. Seeing that the other two were inspecting the closet without any trouble, he got down from the banister and made his way over to the odd little Josiggy. Following her gaze and looking out into the fog, he didn't see much. That was, until some sort of figure became a little clearer to him. Was there someone else out there? Looking down when Maeve called out, he hoped that was a good decision on her part. He lifted and spread his wings slightly, ready to protect the small Card in the off chance whoever or whatever was out there wanted to bring them harm.
(( Awww, Dark, don't feel bad! I'm sorry for making you guys wait ;3; I do hope this reply is alright with the both of you...))

Oh crap, the box actually was moving? The canine stared at it as Acacia posed her question. But... she wanted to see what was in the box too. What if it was something cool? Then again what if it was something bad... but what if the Yarrow knocked something dangerous off the shelves if she didn't help? That could be much worse than what was in the box. Hell it could just be a rat or something.
"All right, how about you hop on my shoulders, I want to take a look at this thing too. And this way if something goes wrong we'll both be prepared. Careful of my syringes, though there shouldn't be any in your way." She bowed down let the groundhog hop on. Once she was settled the canine shimmed over to the mysterious moving box.
Her tail would have wagged if she hadn't remembered it was still very much broken. This was exciting... and dangerous? Well she had fallen from a 30 foot drop, this was probably ten times safer in comparison. Her ears pulled back in anticipation as she stared at the box.

Acacia cracked a smile for the first time since she'd ended up in the strange house. "Fantastic! Alright, I'll be careful..." she said to Bailee as the Corvie bent down to allow her to get onto her shoulders. Being sure to avoid any of the syringes that were stuck fast into the canine's skin, she adjusted herself as Bailee straightened up again, making the groundhog feel far taller than she'd ever had in her life.
The wriggling box was now eye level, and she could see the top was cracked open just a bit. It looked like any other dusty, cardboard box that had been abandoned in a closet, except for the now very apparent movement. It was strange how something like this hadn't simply fallen off the shelf with the way it was shaking. Slowly and cautiously, Acacia moved her right paw towards it, extending a claw to crack open the box more to take a peek at what was inside.

The box wriggled at the slight touch and something surged out of it at the group!
A freakish little mish-mash monster, it instantly slammed its beak down on the Groundhog's paw and then leaped down for Bailee's face! It fell clumsily, managing to hit her squarely in the jaw and dragging its talons wherever it could reach, before crashing to the floor and struggling upright again, weaving as though punch-drunk.
Maeve and Maks abruptly heard an answering call to their cries. "Lo? S'there? Gus, Gloria?" A lantern light bobbed into sight and the footsteps slowly brought a man into full view.
A Canine, with sparse, coarse fur soon appeared in the light, holding something out before him in his left hand, the lantern in his right, and sniffing. His eyepatch did not completely cover the massive amount of scar tissue poking out from under it and his expression was less than pleasant. "What th-? Who're alla you?" He asked, giving the pair an odd look,...before his eye traveled up to Maks's face. "Jumpin' piles a shit! Hell are you?" He yelped, jumping back slightly and better revealing the...trowel he held in his hand. Why would he have that? Now that he's closer, Maeve can easily tell he's a Kahmden, looks pure too. His fuchsia fur having long since lost its luster and possessing very few of the spots that prettied up the Realm.

Bailee did not expect the box to become violent--honestly she should have considering where they were. When the creature leaped at her face and hit her square in the jaw she let out a surprised yelp, completely forgetting that Acacia was on her shoulders as the creature's talons raked down the remainder of her face (9).
She only paused for a moment when she realized that the thing that attacked her was far from normal. Mental had clawed at her face--probably why it was stinging so badly--and the creature was wobbling as if it were drugged. The poor thing was probably sick or... something. What did birds like? Some liked dangling things....
In a split second decision she yanked the broken necklace out of her bag (13) and waved it in front of the strange bird-thing (15). "Here birdy birdy," she muttered between her teeth in the most comforting voice she could muster.
Hell if she could capture this thing she could see how it... worked. Was work even the proper word? Well if worse came to worst she could probably slap the thing with a box or something.

“The fellow you’re gawking at is Maks, and he is perfectly harmless, I assure you,” Maeve offered, hoping to avoid an incident. She glanced briefly at Maks, hoping he understood her reasoning. Though she had no idea whether or not this statement was actually true, Maks was not a threat to her personal safety--she didn’t think--and besides, it was utterly rude to exclaim so over--physical abnormalities. Maeve had experienced enough unpleasantness due to her bladed tail--not nearly so eye-catching in Card society, she had noticed grimly--and she had little patience for any sort of intolerance. Granted, Maks visage was--startling, more than startling if she was to be honest--but it was no excuse for bad manners. Still--if they wanted answers.
“I’m Maeve,” she continued, “And you are, sir?” She attempted neutral politeness. The canine did not seem an entirely pleasant sort of person, but Maeve doubted she would be very pleasant after wandering about in a cold fog either. She considered him: Kahmden, male, not particularly well-groomed; a lantern, so he’d probably been prepared for or expecting the fog; and a--trowel? Strange.

"What th- OW!" Acacia shrieked as the bird-like creature sprang up out of the box and attacked her paw. (12) She didn't have much time to react to that, as soon she lost her balance due to the sudden movement of Bailee underneath her. The Yarrow groundhog fell backwards, landing on her back (17), only having her purple frills to break her fall. The wind was knocked out of her for a moment, but Acacia was able to get back up on all fours soon enough.
Seeing what Bailee was trying to do, she scampered as quickly as she could to the Corvie's side, and then willed her spiked horn to wiggle around (13), hoping to further distract the strange bird. Keeping her focus on it, she spoke to Bailee as she devised a plan. "Do you think you can possibly knock it out with something? I can keep trying to distract it, since my paw..." She winced as she put a little weight on her front right paw, instantly moving to favor her left, since it hurt quite a bit at the moment.
----
Maks was surprised to see someone actually come out of the dense fog. Unfortunately...he was none to pleasant, or as accepting as the rest of his unexpected party seemed to be. He was thankful that Maeve was kind enough to defend him, and not wanting to scare the poor Kahmden Card even more, he lower his wings, but mentally stayed on alert.
"As Maeve here said, my name is Maks. I...apologize if my face is less than desirable to look at. But I assure you, we mean no harm. We ourselves don't even know where we are. Perhaps, if we can help you, would you be able to aid us in return?" He hoped his attempt at being amicable towards this strange man paid off in the end.
