At another time, it might have irritated Seena that Heike was questioning something like that, when she would have certainly told him about anything that had gone on. Like a break in from those rogue Leverets or another Jack, for example. However, in this case, he was stressed and grounding himself by going through all possibilities, even if just to disprove them and reassure himself. She got that. She got that better than most other Does would.
"Not a wit," she agreed, shaking her head. Nothing was missing except Rabbits. No gold, no items, magical or otherwise...it was really something she had barely even considered before, that someone might have broken in and taken the Leverets. They would have had to do it completely silently and in the dead of night to not be noticed. Which, given all the odd things that had occurred recently, wasn't perhaps quite as preposterous as it sounded.
"Quite unfortunate," she agreed with a slight wince. But if need be, Seena herself would be willing to pick up a bit of the slack, at least as far as some of the easier tasks were concerned. She didn't consider herself above such work, if it was what the Warren currently needed from her. "And we need to be careful of Shelby if we're entertaining."

The rabbit sighed heavily, he didn't need confirmation on the obvious, but hearing it solidified everything. He could feel a small headache creeping up on him as Seena reminded him about Shelby. Well, it looked like Nadja would be doing any of the work involving guests for the time being. He really needed to contact a few jacks about this.
"I suppose this means I have to go out sooner than I would have hoped," he said as he looked to Seena with a frown. "I am going to see if I can have a chat with Dorian. Since two of the leverets now missing were his and he had a rather nicely staffed Warren."
But he didn't have to talk about that now did he? "But I suppose I should stop worrying over every little thing and take one step at a time. Thank you, Seena, for letting me talk this out. Shall we go and check up on Shelby?" The rabbit tossed the small trinket back in it's place. Maybe he could ask Shelby to clean out the rooms, that way he wouldn't feel awkward being around everyone?

Senna shrugged, frowning in sympathy. She'd help as much as she could, but there were just some things that Does were not permitted to do. One of them was bargain for Leverets, as they were considered property themselves. Besides, on the off chance that she did try to set up a trade, the other Jack would think her as ignorant as most Does were about money matters and try to rip her off. Never mind that she'd see through it in a heartbeat if they were being unfair to her, there would be no respect from the Jack at all. It made her blood boil if she thought too hard about it, so she usually didn't.
Also, Seena remembered Dorian. She didn't like him one bit. He was the absolute epitome of everything that bothered her about Jacks; vain, petty, selfish, and thinking that the entire world revolved around him. But, chances were, she wouldn't have to deal with him at all. She hoped. "That would be for the best," she agreed. "I think he's probably in the kitchen still." Either that or he was sulking in his room, but Seena hoped that wasn't the case.
--
Shelby was, indeed, currently in the kitchen. He was working on reacquainting himself with the knives and forks and pots now that he had hands to use them. After a few frustrating mishaps, Nadja had made her excuses and gone to do something else, leaving Shelby there by himself. Which suited the Leveret just fine, as it meant he had more freedom to work without anyone breathing down his neck.

The warren was painfully quiet for Heike, and he honestly hoped that he could remedy things soon. Why had this happened? He pushed back the paranoid rambling. No need for that. Today was filled with far too many paranoid frustrations.
"How's everything going in here?" he asked as he made his way into the kitchen trying to look chipper. He succeeded to a degree, though it looked a little like he was trying too hard. He realized it, and did his best to hide it, which was far more successful. Where was Nadja anyway? Had she left to do some other tasks while Shelby managed a few things in the kitchen? Hopefully that was a vote of confidence from his sister, he would have to have a chat with her soon.
Everything looked to be in order. That was encouraging. If there were any messes they were obviously easy to clean up. Maybe Shelby was finally getting used to his limbs?

Seena followed, the rustling of her Selkie fur as she walked and the quiet pawsteps her and Heike beat out on the dirt packed floor of the hall seeming oddly loud in the silence. Her ears perked forward, as if expecting to catch the sound of muffled voices, the squeak of wheels on earth, or the sound of Leverets racing out of the way of the master of the Warren. Of course, there was nothing. It was strange, but the emptiness seemed suddenly more real, the silence more deafening, since she and Heike had discussed the odd disappearance of half the Warren overnight.
She was somewhat relieved when they made it to the kitchen and found, sure enough, their wayward son there.
Shelby was setting aside some carrots he'd just cut for a light soup when he heard the door open. Figuring it was Nadja, back to check on his progress, he started to speak without turning around. "I'm doing better, don't worry," he said in a more confident voice than he generally used except with other Leverets. "I just have to cut the potatoes and if you want--" He turned to get the potatoes, but stopped dead when he saw who was at the door. Dropping the potato he'd grabbed and the knife on the floor, Shelby tried very much to look like anything other than a deer in the headlights.
He didn't really succeed. "Mother! Father! I...what do you need?" He made an awkward bow, twisting one ear with a hand nervously.

Heike's head tilted when his son used a rather unusual tone with him. Obviously he didn't realize who was talking too. He silently waited for the boy to turn around and acknowledge them, when he did he watched the potato and knife hit the floor with a thud and a clank.
And he had been doing so well without them. The Jack felt the slightest bit guilty that they had interrupted. "We came to check what was for dinner. I forgot to ask Nadja, and since we don't have a proper chief it's up to the pair of you to cook the meal."
He eyed the rest of the kitchen. Where was his sister? Had she gone to take care of one of the other various choirs? Perhaps. She had probably left Shelby to fend for himself since she knew he was more than capable, after all she had played a part in training him to be a proper leveret.

Seena winced just slightly as Shelby startled and dropped what he had upon realizing who was there. But she still couldn't help but feel a slight swelling of pride. Look at what he had accomplished already! Look at how much more confident he was with his abilities. She resisted the urge to scold him as he let himself flush bright red and bent to pick up the potato and knife. Instead, she smiled at him primly. "Please, Shelby, let us not interrupt your work. As Heike said, we merely came to be sure that you were adjusting properly, and it seems you are." She glanced at her Jack. Perhaps they should go and leave Shelby to it?
Shelby hastily moved to put the knife in the sink and fish for a clean one, and wash the potato that had fallen. By the time he turned back around, clean knife in hand, he seemed to have a handle on his composure. "I'm doing fine," he told his Mother, and then to Father, "vegetable soup. I hope that's all right...there are some rolls in the oven, too. Nadja made those mostly." He fidgeted with the knife between oddly large hands.

The Jack gave a nod as Seena spoke. The boy did a remarkably good job of recovering from his surprise. At least he seemed to be capable of handling himself much better now. Perhaps this was all he needed to regain some confidence? Then again it was a long road ahead of everyone. When Seena glanced up at him he gave her a small nod of confirmation.
"All right, thank you for the information, we'll let you get back to making the rest of the meal," He said quite cheerfully as he opened the door for Seena to leave. At least something was going right today. Even if it was a small victory it was still a victory, and they would have a rather nice dinner tonight.
But he had to worry about so many things. There was contacting someone about his son's condition, the matter of leverets, the matter of keeping everyone in the warren happy and content. He mentally smacked himself to focus on the simple task of leaving the kitchen without incident.

Seena gave her son a clipped, encouraging smile. He really did seem to be doing better, though she could detect the faint traces of nervous energy in his posture and the way he kept moving the knife in his paws. Well, she supposed hands was now the more appropriate term. The Doe felt another burst of sympathy for the boy. It was going to be hard to trade him before, male and plain as he was, but it would be impossible now. Not that they really could afford to lose him anyway, what with so many of the Leverets gone missing.
"That sounds lovely," she said, and inclined her head to Heike as he graciously opened the door for her. She left the kitchen and made it partway down the hall before she realized Heike wasn't right behind her, as he should have been. She turned and caught a distant, worried look on his face. Seena made a tutting noise in the back of her throat and leaned over to nuzzle his side. "Now, you stop that," she admonished gently. "We'll get through this, just you wait." There was more conviction in her voice than there had been when she'd said similar things earlier.
Shelby watched his parents leave, switching the knife to one hand so he could wave. His ears twitched and he resisted the urge to grab and pull them. He contented himself with a deep breath and the continuation of his task of preparing food.
((I think we should end this soon? Up to you <3))

The rabbit seemed a little surprised when Seena scolded him. The fact that she caught him at all was the surprising part. Maybe he should try to internalize things a bit more. He shook his head. "I don't mean to," he muttered as he gave the Doe a weak smile. "It's just in my nature."
He hated it sometimes. The constant worry and paranoia that was in the back of his head. Someone was going to get him eventually, what if he did something wrong and everyone found out, what if something happened to Nadja--and on top of all of these worries he had Shelby to worry about.
But for now Shelby was doing better, so he didn't have to worry. One more step closer to things being "all right" again. "Shall we go back to my Study a bit before dinner?" He asked as he did his best to have a a cheerier attitude. "I swear I won't do any work or worrying."
