"So why would you waste your favorite sword on wood and vines? Next time I'd recommend getting a machete, or a kukri if you can find one. Find the right tool for the job, it goes a lot better."
The trust comment made him laugh. "Well, let's see. To get into a trusting relationship, I rescued Queen Shinrai as a colt, taught him everything I could, trained his body and mind, started a business with him, and grew that business. All over the course of over twenty years. Do you have that kind of time? Of course, since you won't return my introduction with your own, it might take a little bit longer." He took a big gulp of his mug, not taking his eyes from those of the Jack in front of him. "You got something to say, there, Tubby?" He'd call them something whether or not they introduced themselves.

She raised an eye curiously, smirking to herself. "You seem to assume that because of my rank I am rich, but I am not. I bought only what I knew I wanted more than anything else, and you never know when more than just vines and wood will pop up... best to be prepared in the best way you can." Of course, looking back, she would have been better prepared with her two matching throwing knives, but honestly, she was glad she left them. They were heavy for their size and would have been genuinely useless.
Ahhh, so they went way back. This made more sense then. "Introduction? Well I know where you live and that you like soup, but beyond that I don't remember much of an introduction. However, I am Sekhmet, and my companion is Lawrence. I don't suppose you have a name to share?" She tilted her head to the side as she spoke, glancing at the raccoon only a moment to see if he would be upset that she introduced him. From the way the canine was addressing him, she assumed he would probably want little to do with him. Interestingly enough, he hadn't come up with any nicknames for her.
"And, as for your earlier question, I have as much time as it takes to win you over. And not that it's any of my business, but it seems to me like His Majesty is trying quite hard to get you in person, I don't think he'd put in so much effort unless it was for a good reaon. Perhaps something along the lines of an apology." She shrugged, feigning indiference, although she was curious if the Queen was the prideful type who would never admit their mistakes, or if he was perhaps waving a white flag that the canine couldn't see through his own hurt and resentment towards... whatever had happened? It wasn't part of the Queen's orders for her to get to know anything about the situation, but the canine was like a rock in a slow stream that just wouldn't budge. Something told her it would take more than 'pretty please' or an offer to go somewhere more private.
Now, if someone had done something to truly hurt her, what would she want to hear most? Hmmm, maybe that wasn't such a good thought considering her history.

It was Elias' turn to cock his head to the side. Was she hard of hearing? "I told you, I'm Elias. And the issue isn't needing to cut more than vines, but whatever."
He took a bite, honestly trying to figure out what she was talking about. Apology? Rai wouldn't go to these lengths so someone else could ask Elias for an apology. Did he do something to Elias? Besides his spawn turning him into a 'taur? He decided to ask. "Apology? What'd he do wrong?"
He finished his food and took his dish to the basin. "It's really not poison," he said to the pair. "If you're not going to eat, I'm going to go ahead and put it away. Like I said, if I wanted to poison you, or kill you, I'd have done it earlier. Maybe poisoned the blades in the trees." He waited to see if they wanted to actually eat, or be mistrusting.

((Oop >_> missed that introduction part, writing + fever = bad memory D:))
So the Queen hadn't done anything wrong... but somehow the canine viewed him as ungrateful, which would imply he had done something wrong, or more importantly, hadn't done something right. Well, at least it was a process of elimination. "I had assumed from your... fond nickname from earlier that the Queen had done something to upset you or just generally piss you off." She had already decided to give in and dipped her finger in the stew to test the temperature when the canine spoke. She grinned and shook her head. "I figured that out a while ago. Conversation is distracting. Still warm, however." At this she began to eat, pausing a moment to consider where to go next on her path to find out what was going on between this man and Queen Rai.
"I don't mean to be rude, but how did you come about the, ah, extra parts? Normally that's something you'd only find in Corvistowne. Angry scientist ex-girlfriend get you or just like the look of it?" People had mocked her for her wings in the past, and while she understood they were an oddity, she had grown fond of the look. They were useful, much as she assumed those extra limbs might be. He certainly had a strong shape to him, probably from working out in the woods if he lived in this cabin alone all year long as it seemed he did.
She glanced at the raccoon to see if he would join in, she heard hid stomach rumbling a while ago just like hers had been. Her companion probably wouldn't approve of her jumping in so willingly, but honestly? It took years to build up an immunity to poison, the canine was still walking, and he could have killed them three times over if he'd wanted. She knew her performance hadn't been perfect, but the marsh was a little... out of her element. She was almost curious to see how a non-lethal game of cat and mouse would go if he were to play the hunter in a setting she was more comfortable with.
Hmmm. Maybe at the end of this she could recruit him as a training partner? He did say he taught the Queen everything he knew, and Shinrai was in quite an.... eye catching physical state. Well if nothing else she might be able to sneak a stew recipe off him, she hadn't eaten this good in quite some time.

As soon as the Jack proved that she trusted the strange man enough to eat his cooking, Larry was more than willing to do the same. He gratefully sat down, though he wouldn't actually eat until Sekhmet did; he knew that much about Court politics, of course.
He was listening quietly as the the two sort of ping-ponged the conversation back and forth, but he had absolutely nothing to add. He had one other order in case things seemed absolutely hopeless, but nothing more than that.
He really hoped this worked.

"Well aren't you an honest thing, Sekhmet? I can appreciate that. So, if you're not trying to be rude, why would you call them parts? That's like insulting somebody and then saying "God bless them." Anyway, one of the demon spawn stabbed me with some weird chemical, and when I tried to go bipedal I got this." He drained his mug and put it in the basin.
"So, we're pretending to be friendly. Fine. You can stay in one of the guest cabins for the night, and then go tell Queen Shinrai what I told you: If he wants to see me, he can come himself. Good? Good. Put your dishes in that basin of water when you're done, I'll tend to them in the morning." He washed his dishes quickly, around long enough for another comment or two, and made ready to retreat to his bed in a private room in bath. That had been his first addition once he'd gotten hands.

Sekhmet shrugged and smiled, glad that he appreciated her honesty. "Extra limbs, extra body length, extra skin, extra bone, take your pick, it's all 'parts' that make up a rather impressively unique form. And I'd say I'm probably one of the few people who hasn't just sat there and gaped at you or actually Tried for some reason to insult you over it. Trust me, if I was trying to be rude, you'd know." She listened to his explanation and nodded, her expression showing a bit of surprise. "Well then I can see why you don't seem to completely appreciate the centaur additions, having had them forced upon you and all. Believe it or not, it took me years to warm to these wings and I was born with them." She shrugged and downed another unladylike mouthful of soup, normally she'd try to impress a little, but she was very, very beat. And hungry.
She actually chuckled as he made his terms and shook her head. So he wanted to be difficult, well, she'd have to find a way around that. "I think we both know that's next to impossible, considering his position. See you in the morning, then." He could interpret that however he chose, though he'd obviously wish it to be just a farewell before departing, she had other things in mind. Like trying to convince the stubborn canine that it'd be worth his while. What had gone on between them to make things so awkward? The canine lead on like Shinrai done nothing wrong, but really, he was like an adoptive father to the Queen from the sounds of things, and there would have to be a big reason for him to shun and avoid the stallion in such a manner.
The doe mused over this before putting her dish into the sink, waiting for the raccoon to finish and allowing the canine to depart to his room in peace. As soon as they had a moment alone, she turned to Lawrence. "So? What is your opinion on the mission thus far? I have many questions forming but not a lot of solutions as of yet." She admitted, thinking out loud as she searched for some soap. It was rude not to do one's share of the work when staying at someone else's house, and even though the canine had rudely blown them both off, an eye for an eye was not exactly Sekhmet's motto. Even though sometimes it seemed like a good idea in her anger. Quietly she pulled a still soggy wash rag from the side of the basin and scrubbed her dishes and Lawrence's both, before grabbing Elias', adding soap and then repeating. "Charming fellow, though, hmm?" She asked as she continued on, setting the plate and the utencils on a shelf of the basin to dry.
Thinking for a moment, she remembered the cabins next to the one they were in, and assumed they were the guest cabins. She glanced once in the direction that the canine had dissapeared to before opening the door and heading out towards the cabins where they would spend the night. It was convenient that there were two, as although Sekhmet was comfortable around many people at many different times, she didn't like sleeping with anyone in the room whom she didn't trust with her life in every way shape, and form.

Larry was pleased to finish the meal, it was surprisingly good for a wild man's cooking, and contemplated the question for a very long time. "I don't really know, your Excellence," he replied quietly with just a hint of his own uneasiness. "I don't think threats or flirting would even work on him; it seems like he has his mind set on staying and we might have to try to convince him on some other grounds...." Larry gave a small shrug to prove that he really didn't know and he was just guessing.
When it occurred to him that there were two other cabins, he'd be pleased and upset at the same time. Next to the woman, he would -never- have been able to sleep.

((Edit: Oops, jumped in out of turn. Don't worry about jumping to my time, I didn't see that it was set up for you to answer. Sorry!))
Elias didn't seriously expect to see the two getting ready to leave, but he would have liked it. He wouldn't chase them off yet, he could probably get some work out of them.
He didn't have any customers scheduled that day, so he took his practice arrows and bow to his target out back. He'd been practicing with the arrows and rough made spears ever since he got hands, in addition to the bolos. Man, those were a LOT easier to use with hands. The spear was close in, and honestly it was hard to miss at the ranges he worked at. It was just hunting the small, non-sentient birds with the bow that got him every now and then. Hence the practice.
He sent arrow after arrow at the target, retrieving his ammunition when he ran out, and moving back a couple paces ever ten shots. He was no merry bandit, but he'd keep food on the table, and that was what he cared about. He moved to pick his practice arrows back up before taking them to his cabin.
