His blunt honesty made her grin from ear to ear. It was nice to see that he enjoyed his form, she had to admit, watching him walk around in it made her a tad bit jealous. But she didn't want to go around hogging All the mutations in the world. Wings had become blessing enough for her, travel had never been so enjoyable, she only wished she had someone to share it with. Oh well. "I'm glad to hear that, I would hate to see something like that go to waste." She admitted honestly, looking the canine up and down in a mix between consideration and admiration.
"Queen Shinrai and I share similar contacts... conveniently enough for you though, I'm the one offering use of mine and I just happen to be here as well. However, if you honestly want to know what I get out of this.... well, I'm sure it'll sound silly to such a self sufficient man of your calibur, but-" She paused for dramatics, enjoying actually getting to talk to the male instead of watching his backside fading into the distance as it had been so much lately. "I'm hoping to impress Queen Shinrai enough to become one of his personal Kings. So far to my knowledge, I'd be the only one, an even more appealing concept. Though the competition will become huge soon, I'm sure." She paused to tap her lip in thought before glancing back at Elias.
"I must admit, you've been quite the quest Elias, but I'm very happy to negotiate. Admittedly, I've been trying to wrack my brain for hours to come up with what I could offer that you couldn't just make yourself. What do you give to the man who has everything I wonder? Please feel free to help me out on this one." She smiled playfully, absent-mindedly noting how little the canine really had. But when you had all you needed to survive, it certainly seemed like a lot. The doe had previously come to the conclusion that he was probably too practical to be interested in money or riches, but when given the option... people were surprisingly indulging...

"The key thing to think about here," El said, crossing his arms over his chest, "is that I've quite possibly become so self-sufficient for a reason. I actually have contacts in courts aside from the Court of Clubs and the Court of Hearts, so I'm not doing horrible in that regard. In addition, if I needed something, I potentially have Queen Shinrai to ask for me. No offense, but that carries a little more weight than a Jack in the court.
"Now, I don't know what other contacts you have, maybe you can introduce me to people that Shinrai can't. That might be a place to start, we'll see. But we've already established that I'm pretty fond of my patch of Marsh here. And unfortunately, you've informed me that you have a lot more to gain by my accompanying you to the court than I gain by going. As I have a significant reason to stay here, things aren't looking good for your quest. I'm not saying that you shouldn't have told me, because appeals to one's good nature are a good idea. But, you're really overestimating my good nature." He didn't add that he'd dodged the occasional hired thug in his time here. It was none of their business, but Whip really should have known that regardless of suit, El wouldn't trust anyone he didn't know. It was pretty odd and El would need a lot better proof than the rank on their chest that they weren't hired by the Queen of Clubs.

The raccoon cleared his throat uneasily; it seemed that Elias had just denied the woman in no uncertain terms. He reached into his bag, fingering the envelope again before pulling it out cautiously. "Uhm... sir?"
The Selkie Lakes resident stepped up carefully and handed over the envelope, giving Sekhmet a flash of that same, informal hand-writing that had addressed the Jack before they left. This time, however, it said 'Obstinate Jacktard' and was obviously, now that they knew the man, directed to Elias and not to the woman, despite the fact that she was the only one with the Jack rank.
He stepped back behind the woman again and waited for Elias to read the letter from Queen Shinrai.

El laughed a little when he saw the address. A letter from Rai addressed to him? Why wouldn't they give him a letter from Whip in the first place?
His smile died when he read the letter, and his eyes grew a little wider. He looked up at the two Hearts, but they didn't seem to have any knowledge of the contents of the letter. All for the better, though.
He read the letter again, an eyebrow arching. That certainly changed things a little.
"Follow me," he told the pair. He headed back the way he had come, toward his cabin. He went back into his private room, packed a sack with some supplies, and emerged back into his common room. "Congratulations, you've convinced me," he said, casting the letter and envelope into his fire, before dousing the fire with water and stirring the ashes. He didn't keep much out that he would need if he had to suddenly take flight, and was therefore quickly ready. "If we leave soon, we can take an angle and catch a transport to the capital on the road to the Court of Clubs," he said. "I'll be outside."

The doe nodded her head slowly, recognizing the advice that the canine was giving. Perhaps it would be deemed as weak to take advice from someone of a lower suit, but really, if this man truly made Shinrai into what he was today, then it was a damn good thing she'd been taking notes. She wasn't that arrogant, Sekhmet knew that even as an aspiring King, she Still had a lot to learn. Idly she wondered if the Queen had sent her out knowing that Elias would give her the mental run around that she needed to get used to tactical thinking and related games of the mind.
"You're right, I did accidentally speak to you as if you were more of a bleeding heart. Though thank god you're not, sympathy isn't going to teach anyone anything, I would rather earn every inch that I get in life. Unfortunately it seems we've come to a similar conclusion, though I would venture to say I have some more... interesting contacts that His Majesty may not know about. Street contacts if you will, not the kind of people to ask favours for if your intimidation factor is weak, but somehow I don't think that'd be a problem for you..." She smirked and crossed her arms, though her voice spoke of well-naturedness, she was getting a tad bit flustered with the realization that his connection to Shinrai quite simply beat out almost anything she could offer.
Just then, the Raccoon stepped up with a letter that she hadn't been made aware of. She whitened a little, thinking it some kind of notice to deliver to her upon her failure to convince the canine to return with them, and was shocked when it was addressed directly to their companion. A letter, to the not-so-stranger, from Shinrai himself? Her fists clenched in sudden anger at the thought that Lawrence had been hiding it from her, but she was able to calm herself enough in time to realize that it probably had a purpose in being used as what appeared to be a last resort.
A very... surprisingly successful last resort. As they returned to the cabin she kept her face blank, though his sudden change of heart pulled a rather painfully large weight from her chest. "Glad to hear it." She commented coolly as he returned with a sack of belongings. Upon hearing his plan for the return home, she checked the sword on her back and nodded, remembering the sack in her cabin that she had to grab on their way out. "Let us be off, then."
